Issue with magisk after using triangle away! - Magisk

So i flashed magisk on my phone 2 weeks ago and everything seemed fine and awesome but then for some reason i decided to use triangle away to reset my flash counter. After doing that i couldn't pass the safetynet test. I tried uninstalling magisk, flashing stock boot and finally flashed magisk zip file but still couldnt pass the safetynet test.
Extra info: i have a Samsung Note 4 N910H 6.0 marshmallow.
Read that disabling usb debugging mode might help but no luck.
Applied other fixes as well
Any help will be appreciated

No answer usually means just that...
When asking for help it's a good idea to include some kind of log. Upload a Magisk log (as an attachment). Maybe it'll show something (but don't hold your breath).

Was hoping for some kind of solution or idea to fix it ! I'll try finding the log and uploading it but i doubt it'll show any issues cause everything installed normally without an error or something

Install from Google Play the app called "RootBeer Sample", hide it from Magisk Hide, run it and upload a screenshot and upload the Magisk log.

AFAIK Note 4 doesn't have the original flash counter; it uses Knox and you can't revert that. The last device with a flash counter was S3/mini.

Well, here goes nothing I guess....
When SuperSU asked if I wanted to recover the boot image (I think it was that) I said no.
Issues with that?
Checking patch status
SuperSU patched boot detected!
Adding auto patch scirpt for supersu
SuperSU image mount failed...
Will still try to complete installation
Device still does boot...which I guess is still a good sign.
Says Ive lost root....
Magisk does say it is installed.

CTS profile mismatch will happen if you're using SuperSU.
The one thing that went wrong was you saying no to restoring the boot image backup. If you want to use MagiskSU you'll need to flash it over a boot image that doesn't have the SuperSU patches.

Oh! My mistake then
I could careless about SafetyCheck as I need Xposed modules.
Besides, that, then Magisk is working? That was pretty simple. Thank you for your help.
Reading thru your thread, I cant really see what SafetyCheck implies. Does it just affect that stupid Pokemon crap? I imagine it affects more things like banks but I dont think mines will depend on that.

Magisk works fine with SuperSU. It's if you'd ever want to hide root from some process or app that you might have some trouble, since Magisk Hide is developed with MagiskSU in mind.
There are some banking apps, Android Pay, Pokemon Go other apps that utilise SafetyNet. I do believe that more and more apps will use in the future and the cat and mouse game of hiding root is gonna continue...

I use Xposed modules in my daily life and cannot afford to be without them.

Magisk safety net fails not sure why.

Hi
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4
I rooted the stock Samsung rom with SuperSU prior to install Magisk
At first I couldn't install 13.3 I had to install 12.0 because of some unknown reason installing 13.3 I got the error image mount failed same with all previous 13. versions however now 13.3 is now installed and SuperSU isn't installed.
When I run the SafetyNet Check in Magisk it reports:
ctsProfile: false
basicIntegrity: false
I want to be able to use apps like Android pay and such
Can someone please help me with getting this to work
Thanks!
Magisk v12.0 can't pass SafetyNet without workarounds like Universal SafetyNet fix module (and since the last update to SafetyNet a few days ago I've no idea if that works either).
You can't use Magisk to pass SafetyNet with SuperSU installed.

Oh it's working fine now installing Lineage OS and then install Magisk and it works perfectly.
With me my experiments with magisk in the past left some files in my data partition behind which makes safetynet fail.
I found them by going into twrp recovery, starting and adb shell and then executing find . | grep -i magisk
the two files i found were:
data/data/com.google.android.gms/files/backup_diff_script/com.topjohnwu.magisk
data/property/persist.magisk.hide
i deleted them with rm and safety net worked again.
So I can confirm that for my phone, unlocked bootloader, custom modem and custom recovery does not matter at all. But if your filesystem still contains traces of magisk, is a nono for google safetynet, pretty silly this road they are taking here.

Check your kernel version first (usually found in Settings - About Phone). If it's less than 3.8, ask for help in your device's forum for if there's any custom kernels or ROMs available with an updated kernel.

That's interesting. I get the same message on my old phone (running the 3.4.113 kernel), but I'm unable to even open Mario Run if MagiskHide is disabled. But when it's enabled, the game runs just fine. Is that normal? I thought Mario Run made use of SafetyNet... I'm using microG + DroidGuard Helper. I've tried running Android Pay, but I get this error message. But I'm not even sure if Android Pay is supposed to work since I'm using microG... What other apps use SafetyNet so I can try them?
Thanks.

MagiskHide can't do it's thing to hide itself on such an old kernel, but it can still hide sensitive prop values. That's why Mario Run works... IIRC it looks for ro.debuggable, on of the props changed to "safe" values by MagiskHide.

That depends... You can't pass SafetyNet fully, but with the No Device Check module you can make it pass the CTS profile check. So if you have any apps that only rely on that, you might be good to go.
Of course, having Xposed installed may cause other issues, but that's another story.

Before you keep trying things, make sure that you have the basics taken care of. There are some requirements and necessities for MagiskHide to work. Take a look here: https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_Basics

Losing Magisk Root After Reboot

Hi,
I'm running stock ROM with TWRP recovery.
I've managed to successfully root my Note with Magisk.
Somehow I noticed that my device loses root after a reboot and sometimes even randomly. When I go into the custom recovery and flash Magisk 14 or 14.3 everything works fine for while, till it loses root again.
Could someone shed some light on my issue, please?
Thanks in advance.
I've also themed Magisk Manager with Substratum could that be the issue?
I'm also running stock rom, losing magisk root from time to time.
When root is lost, I'm getting a notification that "new magisk V14 is available.
Reinstalling with TWRP only to lose it again a day or two later.
You all need to change your settings in magisk manager. I had the same problem. Change your update channel to Beta. This will keep magisk 14.3 installed once you flash it in recovery after setting this. :highfive:
Are you using the hide root feature?
If so then that is probably your issue.

Try closing those apps first, I think it goes ok as long you don't start the apps yourself because most off the apps checks root at startup, but I can't guarantee you anything
Something weird has happened... I've not actually changed anything but now I tend to lose root immediately after rebooting.
I'm a technical person so whilst I say nothing has changed, I know that it probably has and I just can't remember.
I need Hide, so disabling that is not an option... I have no idea where to even start debugging this

We have some smart guys (ie @topjohnwu @Didgeridoohan @kantjer etc) and I don't know enough to sort this so the least I can do is provide as much information as possible

Only been spamming the thread with my woes since yesterday so still early days. I'm certainly not expecting an immediate fix because this has been going on for quite some time and if it was easy, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Thanks. In my point of view this look to be a bug in Magisk. Did you tried some older version?

Failing safety net check on Magisk? [Fix]

Hi all,
This may be a useless post but I spent the last half hour - hour searching on how to get android pay to work then how to pass the safetynet etc etc.
I decided to wing it and uninstall Xposed through the uninstaller in the app then rebooted device and passed safetynet instantly. My advice, if you want to pass safetynet then don't use Xposed.
Instructions:
Locate Magisk Manager app and open it.
Pull down from the top and refresh then click on check safetynet.
If either one/both show false and you have Xposed installed then head over and open up Xposed.
Once Xposed is open, click uninstall and let it run through its paces.
Once the un-installation is complete, reboot device.
After device has rebooted, open up Magisk Manager and check safetynet again.
Hopefully this helps some of you! If not then please disregard this post!
Hope y'all have a great day!
Well, it's known that SafetyNet fails with xposed installed.
No new news
