Bypass Tmobile Unlock App by Flashing? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

I know that simply flashing the unlocked firmware won't unlock the phone. I'm sure that we all know this. But wouldn't the unlocked firmware get rid of the T-Mobile Unlock App, therefore allowing you to then be able to input an unlock code?

This will not work. It send your IMEI to tmobile servers and checks on their end and if it can be unlocked it is unlocked, you can not do it like that.

Right, I get get what you're saying. And what you are saying is true on Tmobile's firmware. But What I am asking is wouldn't flashing the unlocked version firmware get rid of T-Mobile's unlock app (it would), therefore allowing you to enter a regular unlock code that you can get a lot cheaper (like $10 bucks) than a "TMobile Unlock App Service" (like $140) to unlock your device.

Also wouldnt work. That is not a think that T-Mobile supports anymore. It all goes through the unlocking app. If you try it, its probably not going to work. Try it if you want.

If he has a proper unlock code and the ability to input it as though it came from another carrier then T-Mobile would have nothing to do with it. Why wouldn't it work with the all carrier firmware? The hardware is the same across all carriers. Inputting an unlock code does not contact the carrier, right?

This guy gets my point haha. Want to try it out? Paying $10 for a "normal" unlock code is way better than $140+ for someone to unlock through Tmobile's app.

well there is tutorial on how to change carrier, why dont you give it try?

I tryed this, i get the codes (both codes, before and after flashed) from z3x pro, phone accept codes and say was unlocked but still showing invalid sim

wrong comment , please disregard

it doesn't matter what you do even if you can get the phone to ask you for the unlock code is still will not unlock it there are ways to get it to ask you for the code like shortcut Master Plusfrom the Play Store but it still will not work

there are ways to get it to ask you for the unlock code like shortcut.pro .....and samoble....but it doesn't matter because even if you can input the unlock code it still will not work it will say that it's unlocked but then it prompts you every single time it does not work the only way around it is to pay to have it unlocked

unlocking without a SIM card?!

Hi. I am wondering if anyone can tell me the procedure to unlock my AT&T Tilt without another carrier's SIM card?
I have the unlock code from AT&T, but I do not know the key strokes to bring up the dialogue to enter the unlock code. I do NOT have access to another carrier's SIM card. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Why are you wanting to unlock it without the need for another sim? You can use the phone without a sim card in there so it's not like you have that restriction. Just keep the code on the phone and when you have the need, it's there for you whereever you are.
Or if you're wanting to unlock it to sell it, just include the code with the sale. The buyer is going to know it's an att phone, and as long as you have the code to unlock it, there's no difference. If anything, it makes the phone more "new" than if you turned it on the unlock it and then sell. So depending on how you pitch it, it could be an additional good trait
Borrow the other carrier SIM from your friends or go to T-mobile store to do the test.
I had old line with T-mobile. Did the unlock in 5 sec. After putting the T-mobile SIM it ask for SIM lock code...
you can goto a cell phone store. usually the people would let you use a foreign sim.
another idea would be to buy a tmobile to go phones. not that expensive. and you'd get a backup phone as well depending on which you choose. for example, the nokias are real easy to unlock for free
Thanks alot for your replies.
Actually, yes, it is to sell the phone. So, I assume what I will do is just include the unlock code with the sale. It would be nice if the phone actually had a series of keystrokes that you can enter to in order to bring up the unlock dialogue.

Unlock the G1 without unlock code ?

got root on the G1 already ,possible unlock the G1 without unlock code
anyone working on it ?
I think there are 3 possible ways:
1:find the unlock flag then rewrite
2:find the IMEI code and change it to a IMEI code that has already got the unlock code
3:find the unlock algorithm
hack the baseband
Did you figure out something? I got my T-Mobile G1 bought off eBay in the brand new packaging with a SIM card. Probably someone stole it from BestBuy or Futureshop, whatever, but I generally don't care where it came from bradn new that cheap
But now NO ONE can provide me with an UNLOCK code for it
I tried several different unlock sites, including the most famous one mentioned here, but no one can actually calculate an unlock code based on my IMEI.
I tried some solutions like Gevey 3G / TurboSIM for G1, but eventually the phone with a "proxy" SIM sort of "sees" my SIM card, but still unable to register to the network.
I was wondering if any cable unlock solution was found for the G1 already.
I got the phone rooted with the latest baseband and with the latest self-made build off the android repository, but cannot figure out how to unSIMlock it now..
find someone with t-mobile, have them activate the phone on their line, then use a site or hopefully they have been with t-mo long enough to add international calling, tell them you require the phone unlocked to use a euro sim and your set
disclaimer: in theory
all of the above except adding a stolen phone to t-mo actually work [might still work, not like your responsible for ebay origins] and t-mo's great customer service will unlock it for you immediately if your account qualifies for international calling,
Call T-Mobile
call Jenny-Craig
[same great assistance, just a lot more humorous]
^_^
Sounds crazy, not sure at all if it's been mentioned before but try www.htcunlock.com
They claim to be able to get any code for almost any htc phone including the G1, you can also buy codes in bulk to lower the cost, and its paid through paypal, so its kinda secure
Just my thoughts anyway
Oh and if you are unlocked but have no network, try setting up the APNs in wireless settings
Be prepared to wait several days for an unlock code from tmobile.

yup, been much faster than estimated all 5 times I unlocked my mobiles
I was unlocking the G1 for £3.50 using a site I had access to. I was getting the unlock codes back within an hour too.
PM me if you want your phone done.
No in fact, don't PM me as I don't have the access any more.
The website that can do it is Uniquephones.com

LMFAO...GNR
Hi all, I have a similar experience. We have a G1 here that was never linked to a contract, and T-Mobile refuse to acknowledge its existence. I have tries one unlocking company so far, and they claimed they were unable to get the code. Does this mean I will not be able to get the unlock code for my phone at all?
if its saying that its unable to register on the network then that usually means the sim has been disabled or that the phone has been reported stolen and the IMEI blocked
seems like nobody have a "flash scan" to get our SIMUNLOCK code
Thats the strange thing, it is simply locked to tmobile, a tmobile sim works in the phone, and all is good, but it is locked from other networks (asks for code)

Have you tried the app found in the market? (you need the original Sim card from where you got the phone and any other company's sim card
Try searching for "SGS unlock" in market place. It should be called the "Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Tool".
Simply Run the app after installing (while using the original Sim card) and it should give you two codes: an unlock code and an unfreeze code.
Once you get them, I suggest writing it down and/or emailing it to yourself.
After that, turn off your phone and swap the sim card to the one you want to use. The phone "should" ask you for the unlock code when you turn it back on and after it has booted. Simply enter the unlock code and you phone should then tell you it's unlocked (if everything works ok otherwise it will say it was unsuccessful).
Note: I am on Bell in Vancouver running the stock 2.1 firmware and it's worked fine for me. There have been people who were not so lucky and it did not work for them. There are even those who have gotten their phone locked due to trying to many time when after it fails to unlock, but that is what the unfreeze code is for. If you're with Orange mobility, I've read that some of their phones were already unlocked. You could always just try a different sim card and see if it accepts it if you haven't done so already.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying, new to this site not sure what I'm doing !
When i paid to have the phone unlocked i had already canceled my o2 monthly contract so the phone had no Sim in it when being unlocked, i don't have the o2 Sim anymore, i brought the phone from o2 so they might help me out I'll have to ask them. I've just put a o2 pay as you go Sim in the phone & it didn't ask for the Sim Network Unlock Pin but with the 3 contract Sim it does ask. I have installed the SGS Unlock tool but i haven't run the app. I'm having the phone unlocked again tomorrow so he hopefully can sort it out. Thanks again.
I tried to "SGS unlock tool" and nothing does not give me the codes. When I go to the root gene codes told me: "Sorry, no codes found. File not found: Do you have S Business"
I have no idea what to do.
Is there some other way to decode or knows someone why this is happening?
I also tried with Generate Unlock Windows, error is: can not find nv_data.bin

H811 LG G4 Network Unlock Help needed or different stock firmware

I have lg g4 from tmobile with a tmobile device unlock app. It does not ask for network unlock code either with a different carrier. Also it does not pop up the network unlock code window even if i type the 2945 code (ithink). IF i use device unlock app it says device unknown by provider please contact customer care. I ordered service remote unlock they where unable to unlock but they had to refund the money because they could not unlock.
Funny think is T-Mobile is saying its not a T-Mobile phone because they cannot find the IMEI number in their system.
The phone is an original T-Mobile phone, with original T-Mobile packaging, software and original labels with the imei.
The only way to unlock this phone is if i can flash stock firmware on the h811 without the tmobile crap.
am i screwed?

How long have you used that phone for as of now? T-mobile requires you to use the phone at least 40 days on their network and it needs to be paid in full if it's financed. I yours is still financed maybe the op that thread could help you http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/t-mobile-free-sim-unlock-promotion-t3138438
Can you link us to the App that unlocked it?

please read my post again. tmobile sim is working fine on it. It does not reach even the permanent or temporary unlock option.
T-Mobile customer service does not even recognize the imei number at all. They say its not tmobile phone and clearly is.
1) Does the IMEI in settings match the IMEI on the box/back label?
2) Are you sure this is a T-Mobile US phone and not a T-Mobile european phone?
3) Where did you buy it? (direct from TMO, eBay, CL?)

please read his post again. you must use the phone with your t-mobile SIM card in it for at least a week until its IMEI (dial *#06# to display it) shows up in the "Check Unlock Status" pop-up in the Phone section of the My T-Mobile website. If it doesn't show your IMEI there, the phone is not associated with your account and the unlock app will not work.

Attention please! The T-mobile S8 is only available in app unlock right now!

The T-mobile is the special s8 for us market.
You cannot input the unlock code.
And then, unlock via MSL by Z3X-Box is no possible too.
Because this is an app lock phone.
So,the only way to unlock it is keep your phone clear, and use the t-mobile service over 45 days.
Then you can tap the unlock bottom...
:crying:
What methods have you already tried? Switching carrier software can bring back the unlock code input screen. If you have a code from the Z3x box, can you try it after switching the carrier software?

I will try the t-mobile app unlock service.
But it is turn off right now. Will turn on next week.
But the way,the s8 I bougt is locked and bad esn.
Damn....
Even if you have +40 days you'll have to call so they enter the IMEI in TMobile data base... I think that no balance due should be in the account.
Then in about hrs or 3 days you unlock through tmo unlock app.

are you sure that the service will turn on next week because i have been waiting months to have this phone unlocked. what online unlocking service do you use?
I figured you could flash another carrier firmware onto the device to get the phone to ask for an unlock code instead of going through the tmobile unlock app. Has anyone done this? I figured then, you could just buy a $10 unlock code instead of a $140 Tmobile unlock app service
You can unlock 2 phones every 12 months at no charge directly from T-Mobile. If the carrier unlock app is not working, you probably bought the phone directly from Samsung like I did. Call T-Mobile, tell them you want to unlock because you're going out of the Country, they'll ask for the IMEI, submit unlock request to Samsung, retry the app in a week, done.
