Preorder status - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

So just to get the ball rolling, I've pre-ordered 2 of these. On T-Mobiles BOGO offer. I'm hoping they ship early and arrive early. Usually I see a thread like this in every new forum for people purchasing to talk about arrivals and shipping.

I tried to get the same deal, but they refused as I didn't have the proper plan (BS). I still pre-ordered and my estimated ship date still says 11th-14th.

I've pre-ordered at best buy through at&t. Estimated delivery is the 10th. I was going to get the unlocked variant from Motorola but it was removed from their website before I could get one. Fingers crossed for an unlocked bootloader.

I did the same. BB was originally cheaper than AT&T, but has now raised its price to match AT&T.

I'm not sure why AT&T users get the shaft. Sprint is $24.66 for 24 months, and T-mobile gets a buy one get one free. If I wasn't grandfathered in to a dirt cheap plan I would have switched a long time ago.

This was Samsung's doing. Not T-Mobiles. It's been discussed before.

It really dosent matter who is doing it the problem is they are now locking down all US models

It really does matter though. While Samsung maybe locking down all US models. Its important to know if Motorola or the other manufacturers have followed suit. Since we've seen nothing like that yet. It makes it safe to assume that since TMobile doesn't care to lock it, and motorola hasn't cared either, that it will infact be unlocked. I believe your either speaking from ignorance, or your just angry at the mobile industry moving towards increased security.
When talking about last year's Z force, Verizon prefers to lock all bootloaders. And that device was exclusive to Verizon last year. I can't speak on the international version.
This is good info for anyone watching this thread for reasons to...or not to preorder.

HTC 10 is bootloader unlocked, but tmobile didnt carry it for very long at all. (Source, I own it, also easily checked here on XDA)
And as far as I know, the only phone they are selling right now that is bootloader unlocked is the LG V20. (LOS Install Guide, User Links other guides)

I think you've taken my post the wrong way. Ignorant simply means that you don't know. It wasn't intended as any sort of 'bash' or hurtful communication, and my statement of you being angry was to express that you appear to have a pessimistic view is all. None of it was meant as any sort of insult. Also, again, last year's US model was only on Verizon. Verizon is known for locking bootloaders. They did it with the note 5 when it was unlocked on Sprint and T-Mobile. At&t locks them as well.
For anyone looking at this thread wondering about purchasing or keeping their preorder. If you are in at&t or Verizon, I would expect to see the bootloader locked
.

Were are you getting info that international version was able to be unlocked i see nothing when i look on XDA there is no root roms or anything for last years model if you can find proof of it that would be great but like i said in XDA there is nothing so XDA is were im getting my info

Plenty more guides and what not. I'm sure there wouldn't be guides if it wasn't possible.

I don't see a z force of any kind with official dev support from Motorola. I should be able to pick my phone up from best buy Thursday or tomorrow if I'm lucky. Unless I'm absolutely blown away by it I think I'll be returning it as it seems development for this device is highly unlikely.
Even though it looks like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, the Galaxy s8 active seems to be a much better phone if you're looking for a shatter resistant, durable phone. 4000mah battery, headphone jack and ip68...for about the same price it's kind of a no brainer. I've personally never owned a Galaxy device but they seem to be xda friendly.
I'm between that or holding out to see what Sony brings to the table. I've always had a soft spot for them and I'm typing this on a Z3 compact...with a shattered glass back.

[SOLVED] How to add less than $20 to Google Wallet? AND MORE ABOUT GOOGLE WALLET

Hello all,
Recently I purchased a $15 Prepaid MasterCard not knowing there was a $20 minimum top-up. I am wondering if there is any way to add less than $20 to my Google Wallet. Also, the "Other" option to add money does not work. ANY suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you so much in advance!
Sincerely,
HeroKhar
The little policy thing they want you to read before you accept and use it declares that the prepaid can only be loaded with a minimum of 20. And the other is over 20 like 25, but the least you can put is 20. Google locked up security with the app so hackers can't steal money from them. Your only option is to buy a new prepaid card, VanillaVisa has 4.95 fee and i think walmart has 3.00 fee. Or you just going to have to swipe until you get more money. Maybe buy some nfc tags online and programming to do cool stuff. Your coolness factor for checking out at stores is going to go down, but most people seen this now so its not going to be as great as when the nexus first had it.

Do you think that the prices listed by eBay are the final ones?
I mean when launched in India, they might increase them a bit! Like around 30k or something..
But if this is the price, then I am certainly buying it!

Well.. I got a ebay coupon with it. 7% off in Ebay. so I am getting it almost for 25000 (16 GB).
You can bargain with your local retailer when it is available for that much or even lower once it is available.
To speak the truth 350 USD is almost 19000 INR so with the local taxes here being high we can get it for 25000 and it will be a great deal.
Still lower the better.
Yep! 25k for such a high specs device is a great deal..
But I really do hope that it don't go beyond that! Since Indian markets have a habit of selling the flagship devices over 30k!

hmm.. but let's hope that this is going to break the price point.. if you really see the N8 (Bad comparision I know..) the flagship of Nokia was sold for 25?? well.. let's hope we are going back there.. but again depreciation.. but this is a real deal for such a pricing..

Cyanogen for the TF701....have extra tablet

I have lurked here for years but recently have decided to get into an android tablet. After two returns of a TF700t....one due to seller dishonesty (selling refurbs as new, but he apologized) and one due to getting a lemon, I gave up on ebay and pre ordered a TF701. Two, actually, as when I first ordered from Newegg they advertised an 11/4 release date then I later saw an 11/17 date. I thought maybe they took enough preorders to fill their first allotment.....possibly....so I asked them and they had no info. So I pre ordered another from excalibur. I thought whichever one would ship first I would keep and I would cancel the other order.
Wrong. Both orders were filled within an hour of each other. Friday.
So here's my question:
Since I have one extra tablet, I would like to see if there is enough support here so we can donate the tablet to a developer. I have PM'd the 10.2 (jellybean) developer for the 700T "dasunsrule32" and he asked if there might be support here to do this. We know it takes enormous amounts of time to to this work so I am looking to see if anyone might care to contribute a portion of the cost.
I paid 453.00 for the tablet. I am willing to contribute 50.00.
We need a developer interested in getting a free tablet, who can write a new bootloader, CWM (or TWRP) and Cyanogen jelly bean or KitKat. I know this is dependent on the
Asus bootloader unlock tool working.
So if we can get a list of ppl willing to contribute, I can send the tablet to dasunsrule32, or if he can't or is not interested, this offer is open to other developers.
I know I am an unknown face, I might propose if we get enough support that we send the developer the money, I am willing to send the tablet without getting reimbursed
for it. But I would ask that its a recognized person with a track record on this forum. When the tablet is received, he/she can reimburse me minus my 50.00 contribution.
Other ideas??
I'm interested, if there is enough support from the community.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Sounds like some kind of Kickstarter project ^^ i would be interested to contribute if we get enough ppl together.
Any news on this?
The only thing stopping me from buying a tf701 is some kind of confirmation that someone will port cyanogenmod
Thanks!

Good to hear from you. Now we know we have at least one dev on board for CM
I'm looking to buy a TF701 myself and would love to see CM10 or 11 ported to the device. I can only contribute $20 for now, but I could contribute more in the future if someone's actually willing to develop for it.
@pershoot picked up the tf701, so if I can get this one, we'll both be able to bang out this device. At least it's a start

I flashed your CWM recovery and it seems to be working just fine. Finally able to make a nandroid backup. I've been scared to start freezing bloatware until I was sure of a bailout option. So thankyou for that!
One concern: CWM did not recognize my external SD. I didn't see an option to backup to it and going to the mount menu and choosing the Mount USB option had no effect. Card is a Sandisk 64gb mobile ultra formatted FAT32. The TF701 recognizes it just fine, but SolidExplorer for some reason doesn't see it unless i specifically navigate to ...Removable\MicroSD. That was a known issue in previous versions of SolidExplorer that was supposed to have been fixed - I have a support ticket in with them. I haven't tried another card yet.
Oh yeah. I think the link for the CWM recovery at the very least should be posted as its own thread in the development forum. I think a lot of people have been waiting for a working, reliable recovery, and they might not find it buried here.

Cant unlock bootloader c6903 EE UK Z1 Anyway around it?

Having had my fair share of issues with this phone, i've now found out that when i try to unlock the phones bootloader that I can't do it.
Went to the unlock bootloader page and tried it even though the phone said NO to unlock and it failed.
Does anyone know of a way around this?
Seriously had enough of this phone now, really annoying me, doesn't seem to be a lot of people with this issue either.
Bootloader Unlocking Allowed: NO
You can't unlock bootloader. Is impossible and no confirmation if even will be in some "unofficial" way.

I feel your frustration as I cannot unlock my c6906 either. To bad carriers opted to have this done. I didn't have the funds to straight out buy from Sony so I went the upgrade route from my carrier and paid $99 instead of the full $700 cdn.
Damn it! I'm on the same boat then.
Vodafone ES.

Im with EE too and have the same issue. Im not fussed anymore, im selling the phone and will be getting the note 3. This phones the first phone ive had, in a while, that I havent flashed roms/kernels with. Shame on Sony/EE for messing it up.
Mine is from 3 UK and bootloader unlock is allowed

I've had my t-mobile/ee phones from phones4u and carphone warehouse. If you go through them, rarely are bootloaders/sims etc locked.
Just a hint for the future
That's why i never a phone from Provider
1. Bootloader 5h1t
2. not really somehow cheaper, as my home city is Hong Kong, can buy cheaper phone then provider easilly, especially for parallel version
3. ok, i know most of u are not from HK, buy it from Amazon or Ebay, ask the seller if the BL is unlockable.

I understand what you mean and I will never be doing that again, the reason i went with EE was because the insurance is way better than anywhere else, i'm a long standing Orange customer and their customer services for me have been top notch, I get 40% off my line (retail discount)
Could have went to CPW but didn't as they didn't have the deal i wanted, plus the insurance.
Will never make this mistake again but it is an absolute first for me, all my phones have always been from orange / tmobile / vodafone, never had an issue with the bootloader being locked down like that, damn them for it.
Will be going with O2 and probably the HTC m8 when it surfaces.
Won't putting different firmware on it solve this? Or is it put on the handset a different way?

Unfortunately you tried to give an answer without knowing.
I am losing my will to live here currently.
I apologise, but if you stick around a few days and read some threads you will see it was justified. It has been an Xperia issue for over 2 years. So there is LOTS of info about this if you just google it.
I will delete it anyway..

I was just asking a question. I have genuinely no idea how the bootloader is locked...it wasn't an answer, it was a question hence why I said "or is it..." - clearly I don't have the knowledge yet.

Keep trying, its a journey
One I have enjoyed, but I needed a few kicks in my arse to get on the right track,
You need to read, learn and try for yourself.... That way we all gain from the experience, instead of just handing out "updates" this is about modding and doing it yourself.
I do hope you understand..

I do get that- and I am reading around a lot...but I've only just got up on XDA and haven't really done a lot re:bootloaders before and it was close to xmas And with work I just haven't had the time. Next time just point me in the right direction and say "No, it doesn't work liek that - read this" or "look up this" instead haha. Either way, if you celebrate xmas have a good one, if not have a good day..
Hope someone finds out soon in regards to this.

I do m8 an i love that pic, been on my fb for years, an lol you sound like your head hurts m8.
Just noticed that this is a TRIPLE facepalm, haha.
Same. EE/Locked. not bothered as i have no desire to have custom roms.
Why do Carriers lock the bootloader?, whats the benefit to the Carrier?

Just need a few questions answered (easy)

1. How much space does the user have on the 16gb model for storage?
2. For recent buyers, what version of android are you getting out of the box?
3. For rooters, do i need to use Slapmymoto, or pwnmymoto, for rooting?

1. i think i had 14gb available when i first restored.
2. n/a... i purchased one of the first units released at bestbuy. i'm assuming they're on 4.4.2 now.
3. if you're gonna root... go get the Developer Edition. afaik, 4.4.2 is un-rootable as is. if you're on 4.4 and rooted.. you can take the OTA to 4.4.2 and keep the root access... read the threads for full details.
If you can't get the dev edition there is a method to unlock for around $44. Note that only need dev edition/unlock method for ATT/Verizon
Not to offend you Toxic ....but you've made a should I buy an x type thread in December, and another recently, and now this....which will end up being similar information tossed around as your other 2 threads. LOL
What I'm trying to say is this....if you still aren't sold on the Moto x.....I think you should pass. You've had pages and pages of discussion about it....going on 4 months now.....if you are still unsure if its for you, then frankly.....it probably isn't.
Good luck with whatever you decide on.

Also....if you buy a Verizon or at&t non dev phone....you maybe can unlock the bootloader for about 45 bucks IF the method doesn't vanish....which it could at anytime without warning....and if you don't have an unlocked bootloader you cannot have properly functioning root on 4.4.2 as it stands today. Or not at all if your phone comes with 4.4.2 already on it.
