FM radio - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Apparently at least the T-Mobile version there's a FM radio enabled. You don't need a headset it just works. I used Next Radio. If anyone else want to try a different app and see test it out and let us know your findings.

NextRadio working on sprint version as well (Just tested)

Ok did some digging. Next made a stream only mode which I think is what is happening here. I don't see a way to turn it off or on.

It either has an FM radio or it doesn't. An actual FM radio will ALWAYS require the earphones to be plugged in to act as the antenna.
Anything else is just streaming and using WiFi or your data allowance. Next radio and the million other streaming radio apps aren't "FM radios".

Yah it is in streaming mode and not using a FM radio. I assumed possibly that it is using the back as an antenna since it is made out of metal.

Wifi cutting out

Been using Niks ROMs for ever now, but on the last few my wifi keeps either disconnecting or turning off, sometimes even when I'm using it and flips to data. Is this the ROM, the radio or my router? Is there a new radio out at the moment worth a try? I'm using 11.08.29 M. Anyone else having the same problem?

I've been using the newer 14_M radio since this morning. So far so good. No cutouts or disconnects as of yet.

I think there is another user who has posted in the general section with a similar problem.
you'll need to work around the power options as it may be set to switch off wifi/data after a certain duration of time or when screen off
I've also read that disabling fastboot may also help.

Droid 3 does't get 3g aymore?

Right around early May, my droid 3 and my mom's droid 3 stopped gettinng 3g. Ihave switched in and out of airplane mode, switched from cdma to global to gsm and got nothing, and even called verizon about it. No one can tell me why our phones have suddenly lost 3g capabilities. I also checked 3g availability online and double checked with my Nexus One, which still gets 3g. Does anyone know anything about this?

If both phones lost it at the same time, it sounds like a possible local Verizon tower issue. Have you tried traveling to another area to see if the phones gain a 3G signal or try with another Verizon 3G device to see if it gets signal.
Go to ##program and use the 000000 and set it to EVDO only

Or just do it from *#*#4636#*%* That is easier.

I will do that today. I'll report back asap. Thanks!

what does EvoDo only do?
Disabled 1x and makes it so your only speed is 3g.

what's the benefit in that?

You'll get 3g.

And lose voice connection. Exellent advice!
Had similar issue and fixed it by going back to stock, updating via System Updater method in the About Phone System Pref (wording of that may be incorrect but its there in the stock load out). After phone updated I re-rooted and reflashed the rom I was using and problem solved. I should mention that prior to doing that I had verizon customer support stumped and they had shipped me out a replacement phone before I realized how to fix it.

By forcing it to 3g it may force it to work.
You cannot have voice if switch to EV-DO only. It's CDMA. It is not just like GSM/UMTS, where you can switch to UMTS only and continue to have voice service.

I don't think he's suggesting it as a permanent solution, however if there is a hardware problem causing the 3G not to work, then you should be able to confirm this by setting it to evdo only. If it's having some sort of problem switching something on, then maybe the switch to evdo only will enable it and it might work when getting switched back to CDMA auto prl.

Thanks for clarifying. That is exactly what I meant but it was early in the morning and so having the clarification from someone more awake helps. Also I was aware EVDO only is just data.

It doesn't work with every operator.
For example here in Kazakhstan you can subscribe to 1xRTT only with simple handset or to combined 1xRTT + Ev-Do rev.A with smartphone or modem. In case of using service with smartphone switching to "EvDo only" leaves user off both networks.
have you tried a fastboot back to stock? it may be a software issue....
I am sure it is totally NV-item problem. Radio hardware is another issue.
I have changed NV-item 8035, rewritten all NV-items by those from whiterabbit, but still Ev-Do login being tried by MDN plus actual Ev-Do login.

Any tethering apps working on the One?

Wireless tether isn't really working for me at all. Anything else for an option at this point?

Are you using the one built in? I have been using that one successfully. I'm on TMO, but I think this app is just the one that comes with the phone.
You need to state which model phone you have, and what ROM.
Use WiFi Tether free a on the market.

I'm using EasyTether Pro v1.1.5 by Mobile Stream. It works using USB to my Win7 laptop. Also works using Bluetooth to my Asus Infinity Tablet (new feature that came out yesterday). My Sprint USA HTC One is totally stock, unrooted and locked.
:good:

FM Radio

DO we have an FM radio tuner in our Note 3s? It looks like Sprint does. When I was with Sprint, they always disabled the FM tuner in their phones where other carriers did not. Now it looks like Sprint models have it and ours is disabled. I guess until our bootloader is unlocked we have our hands tied? Any thoughts on this?

But radio apps requires data, FM Tuner does otherwise...
Yeah I love streaming radio. But would be nice to have the radio hardware activated. I really don't understand these carriers. They enable the radio on some phones amd then not on others. Doesn't seem to be any way of predicting what they are going to do. I've never seen a dev be successful an enabling radio hardware that is disabled. Has anyone?

FM radio. Is there a way to turn it on? On Verizon.

Seems like we ought to be able to use this. The phone is capable , right? Or am I wrong in what I read?

Personally I don't know about Verizon, but I know that it seems to be completely disabled with Sprint.
So my guess is that it is pretty much disabled with most of the carriers, because the Nexus 6 is not really a Carrier Phone.
Again, just my theory.
no, there isnt a capability for it. there should be, but it wasnt.

Just over a year ago, @danarama asked Motorola about the FM Radio. The response they provided in his post sums it up succinctly. There is no FM radio hardware on the Nexus 6, thus no FM radio to activate.

Good info.
So it's not possible. Your closest bet is the app "iHeartRadio" but obviously that eats your data
