nokia told me, that i should get a 3. party app for that, but the thing is, there is no led programs that works, seems that the led lamp is gone totally, and the glance , hmm what to say, its so darn small , in my point of view, useless

the most annoying thing is,
the bluetooth part, when seaching for other devices, it only shows mac addresses. not names og nearby devices

If the phone gets unlocked and the kernel source code released, it should be relatively easy to make the capacitive buttons work as notification leds.

I emailed HMD asking if the Nokia 8 would have different models like the Nokia 6, and if one of them included a notification LED. This was the response I received.

That's so sad maybe write to them suggesting to implement a workaround via the capacitive buttons. This is such small feature yet so powerful for someone like me, this is the only real glace screen I need! lol
I have tweeted them if you guys want to join in and try and get some support to make them think about it at least
https://twitter.com/bumTUNA/status/910035640506617856

What Is HMD thingking!?! Users bomb the HMD whit messages about this! There is LED in front panel and FM radio needs also root access.

True but we need to try especially since they are releasing them in China and India.. lot of potential future / current customers to get onboard requesting the same. Huge market out there.

A possible workaround
You can use the flash LED on the back as a notification LED:

I don't own the phone, nor am I developing this. Was just a statement that it shouldn't be too hard as I've seen it done on other phones.

I've read somewhere that it should be possible with a Xposed module, but I haven't seen someone who managed to get that to work on Pie

LED Status notification for SMS/Voice messages

Hi
When the phone is in standby it flashes the left LED to show connection with the network. The manual states:
"Shows Green and Amber lights for HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE/GSM/GPRS standby, message, and network status as well as for notification and battery charging status. Shows a flashing red light when the battery level reaches 5% or lower."
But doesn't state what colour is shown for what and I've only seen a flashing green LED. The description is a joke in the manual as it doesn't really tell you anything, and I have searched the PDF version for LED and found no other information dry.gif
I want to be able to see I have had a text message/voice message left without having to turn the display on, how do we do this?
Regards
Phil
Well based on the Wizard the led on the right that normally flashes green will flash orange if you have a txt or missed phone call.
Hi
If it does it doesn't look that much different in colour to be really obvious, not to my eyes anyway.
Can we change the colours, perhaps through a registry setting?
Regards
Phil
Hi
I've resolved this to my liking with a small application I've written, it's free for anyone else who wants some control of the way the notifications are flashed on the Kaiser.

Great little app Phil. I use my phone as a pager so its nice not to have to turn it on to see if you missed a message.
It looks awesome! Installing it now. Thx!

Great tool!, but ehh it doesnt work on my Dutch version TyTn2.
AMBER colour doesnt seem to work.
So does this mean your tool is made for an English version?
Amber doesn't seem to work for me either and I'm on the English version.

I tried the app on my AT&T Tilt and while the LEDs perorm according to the app, I found that the app caused my speakerphone to engage on every call I placed. I deleted the app and no more speakerphone problem.
strange...on my tilt it didn't work. I could change the power color but couldn't get the right side light (bluetooth side) to do anything
Is anyone interested in this program/functionality enough to continue developing it? I'd really like to see the ability to set missed SMS to the red LED like missed calls. I'd also like to see the solid LED function working again during charging. I'm not sure if the original author is still developing this program but it has a lot of potential. Thanks.

Hi,
I am very interested in this functionality. I am actually slightley colorblind and it is impossible for me to see the difference between the red, amber and green LED, because it is so small and just flashing up for a very short time.
I wish I could use the blue LED for missed incoming calls or a faster blinking frequency would be great.
Regards,
JTGBDR
yes indeed
I want to change the blinking speed of the amber light when an incoming sms is received or missed call..
I had this on my mio a701, so handy
Now its almost 3 sec to see if you have an missed sms , its too long...
Issnt there a simple reg hack to increase the interval?

I Already asked in this board for an redevelopment of this app... the idea is genious, but the original developer, doens't seem to continue his work....
So it would be really nice, if someone could code it properly.. the current app has some matrue issues and is in my opinion not really usable.

Camera Issues

Hello,
I've tried to find this issue in the forums, but can't.
I have a problem with my camera on the AT&T Tilt (8925), it really slows down in low light settings. Unless it's really bright or sunny it takes horrible pictures. The preview mode jumps and skips.(I'm using the ROM it came with)
The 8525 that I had before would take pictures and video no problem in semi low light situations, but the Tilt is not even close.
Please let me know if other people are having the same problem or if you think I have a defective unit or something is wrong with the ROM.
I don't think anyone has ever had a problem with their camera in low light. It must be just your phone. I would take it back to ATT and demand a refund and a free phone for your troubles.
i agree, i think not a single person in this forum has any issue with using the camera in low light conditions. In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you look in the kaiser wiki, you will see nothing about low fps in the camera at all.

Oh, which reminds me, I was going to bring this up after I tested it as working or not.
I had a webcam that had the same problem as this phone's does.
Point being, I was going to install the latest camera software because that one (the 5.xx version) had different registry settings than the 4.xx one did. And I THINK, that there was a registry setting that defined the different increments available for the lighting scenarios.
EG: you should be able to deactivate the camera's ability to auto adjust to light, or at least increase the time before it does to some unholy number.

Trackball light

Hi,
I have a crazy idea
I see that the Htc hero, is very beautiful when the trackball light is switched on ...
It's possible to leave it switched on always, and make it flash on the notifications ???

Agreed, it is pretty,... But my battery life is poor to almost none existent at the moment,... I wouldn't want it any worse!
But I reckon there are apps for that already,... I think its Handcent that has the option to make it flash more,... there must be others.
I think it would be a better idea to use the trackball light as the Nexus One mod if we can. That mean you can have multiples notifications types according to the trackball light color I don't know if the hero has a multi colors LED unside the trackball, but it would be really great too, much nicer than just let it on

it would be nice to have this led to blink like nokia E52 or N78 joystik button. It looks like "breathing" (also like Apple Macbook pro led does when laptop is spleeping). I would like it

We on covedesign are currently working on such a code where you can turn on and off all the different lights on your HTC Hero. Its currently an alpha but here is a little sample, however it requires root access and it is tested on eclair/legend based roms. We will release the full source code soon when its all done.
Try it out

I prefer not to, if you want better battery life.
You can ask the developers in this thread about the leds.
Sent from the Sun.
@Zakys
Thats Bogus. These LEDs (more like SMDs) need close to nothing. Maybe your Phone will last 1 minute longer with the lights out.
@dookoo
its a Bug. LG already acknowlegded it in the german support forum. They are working on a fix to get them working again (like under 2.2). Knowing LG that can take quite some time.

On screen notification, work around needed

Dears,
I'm a new owner of a brand new x2 pro, everything's fine so far, but there's just a thing that hassles me and it's the missing notification LED.
I'd like to use one of these workaround apps designed for super Amoled screen but so far, can't find any properly working on my x2 pro.
Tried with AOE (always on edge) but it seems to work randomically... All I need is an app which, in case of screen turned off and with an incoming notification (e.g., a WhatsApp message), automatically switches on a notification effect on screen which should continue blinking until I read the notification itself.
Basically, something that recalls the good old rgb led on phones of some years ago... Is there anything which you tested on Realme phones and it's 100% working?
Thanks a lot
Try this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xander.android.notifybuddy
Yeah, notifyBuddy did the job
I'd love to have a bit more chance on the notification type (only pulsing spot is available here) but hey, it's from a developer from XDA devs
Edit : nevermind, it doesn't work in a stable way. Most of the times notifications are ignored.
anyone knows if this working https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe

NotifyBuddy works perfectly fine on mine!
You will have to exclude it from power saving.
On my X2Pro, notifyBuddy works 1 time out of 4 notification, approximately. I guess it's due to the lockscreen as I disabled any battery optimization for the app.
On the other side, AoE works even worse... Still waiting for a solution for notifications.
