Why haven't any ROM developers added DCI_P3 Calibration for their ROM's? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I've been reading here and there, and I've come upon that thread where you can enable DCI_P3 calibration for your display on your OP3T, only on OOS thou.
Why isn't it supported on any ROM where the Display Model doesn't even turn up, and why haven't any ROM Devs implemented it?
Cheers!

because not all 3/3T support dci-p3 color scheme ..
Only S6E3FA5 panel ID that supporting dci-p3

It's a simple thing to have the ROM detect the ID of the Panel, and then have ROM to choose whether to show the option in Calibration Settings under Settings.

If you think simple enough, so make yourself...

It's added through the kernel not the ROM, Ex and Blu spark both have it in OOS and custom kernels. Lineage also have it in their kernels too.

It works really well in LineageOS, I like the not so over saturated coloring in this mode, it's really nice to the eyes.

A Magisk module is available for it. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72842349&postcount=11

@thes3usa DCI_P3 color profile is available in official Resurrrection Remix rom for OP3T

You can with this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...ment/rom-zenity-resurrection-remix-n-t3551384
It's in Live Display settings. Don't change the kernel though, or you won't have the option anymore.

Installed the Aug.31 build of Lineage on my 3T yesterday, and it's an option there in Live Display settings too. There also seems a bug where the selected colour profile reverts to default every time you turn the screen off and on though :/

Apparantly the dci-p3 should be available using Vertex OS. But since i dont have the supported panel(wierd, since i bougth it in June 2017, so probably didnt get the newer display).. But it should be possible to change even on the old display ?
EDIT:
I found out that i have the correct display which ends on a5, so it should be able. But cannot find the necessary files in the sys/devices/virtual/graphics/fb0 folder....

[Guide] Fix for blue screen tint

In my opinion, the screen on the Moto G4 Play is pretty decent for a budget device -- aside from the bluish/cool hue of the color reproduction. This is due to the white point of the display being set to 8653K, far from the ideal of 6500K (Velasco, 2016). It could possibly be fixed with a software-based recalibration from Moto/Lenovo (I'm not holding my breath), but there are a couple of things that we can do to make it a little better.
If you are using CyanogenMod you have the ability to adjust the colors under display settings to take some of the blue and green out. This is probably the easiest method.
If you are running a stock ROM the options are more limited, especially for anybody with a variant that does not support unlocking the bootloader and rooting. You might be out of luck. The following steps are for anybody running the stock ROM with root. If you have not rooted or modified your phone yet please read the warnings on the respective threads.
1. The Kernel
You will need a custom kernel that supports color correction, specifically what you want to look for is KCAL MDP5 color control. The squid2 kernel supports this feature, and there may be others as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4-play/development/kernel-squid-kernel-moto-g4-play-t3496641 Remember to make a nandroid backup of your boot partition before installing any kernel or superuser software.
2. The Apps
As far as I know you need root access to use any of the software that allows you to do color correction. To install SuperSu it currently needs to be told to use systemless root on our phone. This can be forced by creating a hidden file called .supersu in /data with contents "SYSTEMLESS=true" (SuperSU Beta, 2016). You can do this in TWRP / Advanced / Terminal by entering the command "echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu" There is also a flashable zip here in the forums that can do this. Just flash the SuperSU installer after this. There are many programs that can make the actual color corrections. An easy to use one is available from xda developer savoca here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/dev-kcal-advanced-color-control-t3032080 Kernel Adiutor available on the Play Store can also be used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=en
3. The Settings
In Settings / Display / Color Mode I set the color profile to Standard. In the Color Control app from savoca I left all settings at their default values except for setting green to 248 and blue to 237. This results in a more natural white point in my opinion. If anybody else finds settings that work well please share them in this thread.

Errors in custom rom

First and foremost, I'd like to apologize for posting here, normally I would post to the relevant rom thread, but I am too new to do that.
The rom I have flashed is the one in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/development/rom-resurrection-remix-5-8-0-oms-t3527338
I have a a small issue and one big one.
My first issue is with srgb mode. When I go to developer settings and toggle it, it does nothing. If I turn it on and re open developer options the switch is set to off. Is this something the kernel is forcing? I can't take the oversaturated colors, they give me bad migraines if I see them for too long.
The other issue is with adding quick setting tiles. When I click the edit icon and try to drag o e of the tiles up it stops short and will not scroll to the area I need to drop it in.
Please help.
Thanks.
The sRGB issue is common between all Cyanogenmod/LineageOS based roms, even on the previous Oneplus2 so there's not much you can go about it other than running another kernel with KCAL control and adjust color values yourself. The other bug is probably something local to RR so just wait for update and maybe it gets fixed someday.

Screen Burn-in fixes for all ROMs

So my Mi5 has a severe screen burn-in (image retention, ghosting, or whatever you wanna call it) and I've been looking for solutions for sometime, for all the ROMs.
So I suppose this thread will be useful to you guys too.
** The permanent solution is to replace the display **
** I will be not responsible for any damages caused to your handset by flashing custom ROMs and/or custom kernels or by any other means. I didn't develop any of these nor I have any affiliation with them. This is just a guide. Try these at your own risk. **
Solution 1 - Live display feature in LineageOS
This is the easiest and hassle free solution. Just flash LineageOS and use the Live display feature and adjust the RGB values to 90.
LOS 14.1
LOS 15.1
Solution 2 - KCAL
This is a free colour correction tool developed by @savoca.
To use this you must have a supported kernel & root. This supports AOSP ROMs (but didn't try it on every ROM though ...)
Just install the apk grant access , turn on 'colour service' & 'set on boot' options. Then adjust the RGB values to 220-230 (more or less depending on the severity of your burn-in) and save the changes.
KCAL official XDA thread
Solution 3 - Colour Changer Pro
This is a paid app. but it's the only app that I found which supports MIUI with stock kernel. It also requires root.
select a custom profile and adjust the RGB values to 220-230 (more or less depending on the severity of your burn-in) and turn on the profile.
Only problem that I found is that if you install a new app it resets the values to default so you have to activate it again.
The free version give you pro features for a few days so you can try it before you buy it.(adjusting RGB requires pro version)
Get it on google play
** I didn't test the effect on battery life when using KCAL and Colour Changer Pro but according to my experience they are very insignificant **
I hope this will be helpful to you guys as burn-ins are a widespread feature ( ugh ! .. sorry, problem) in mi5 devices.

Few things i noticed after upgrading to Android Q

I made a post after getting pie update and now, here is an in-depth list of features of android Q in ZMP M1
all phones are not getting the same features
removing screen lock /fingerprint doesn't save you from password after update (at least it didn't work for me ) make a backup of everything in case you need to reset
list of things I'll suggest making a backup
WhatsApp chat
google photos
apps with es file explorer or any such file manager
settings + contacts+ call log+ messages from settings backup
notification led :
I like to turn it off all the rime even when charging but in android Q I couldn't find any way to disable it during charging
i was checking my old post about pie
1. Ambient Display : settings>display>advance>Ambient Display
It works only when you get a notification (its dope would like it being enabled always) though Daydream nowhere to be found.

assessability volume key shortcut might come in in handy for some but it makes a notification sound
there is charging sound and vibration in sound settings might want to turn it off, I have seen Samsung charging sound but Asus just makes the phone vibrate with a faint sound might scare people who don't know as it's on by default in android q
I am getting the rotate once button in navbar when autorotate is off I am using two-button navigation and a small circle when using gesture
the lockdown option to prevent unlock by any other means now also prevents notification to show can be enabled in display>lock screen display> show lockdown option
in gesture navigation you can swipe up and continue in an app to make it go smaller beyond it should go

now you can directly launch apps from app info after force stopping
in about phone >emergency info> medical info you can add your profile pic and emergency contacts
dev options> picture color mode sRGB does this option even work any were?
in dark mode theme when searched in settings there is a white padding
dev options> game driver properties I don't know what it does perhaps boost graphics performance
feature flags section in dev options shows nothing except experimental (edit: these were removed in Q beta 3)
system traces have many options like pre CPU buffer and in the category, it has some tick box options and possibly CPU performance after we stop getting updates
swipe up to recent in any navigation option seem a bit too sensitive
audio seems of though I only watched youtube (Linus tech tips) so far that is without headphones
in dev options audio Bluetooth codec shows APTX HD and other option which might make Bluetooth audio great
in dev options profile HWUI seems new but not sure what it is the bars shown on-screen seems familiar
in dev options adaptive notification priority makes no difference and doesn't have any description but a quick google search shows it is supposed to make low notification priority genital
in dev options apps can be installed in external storage option
in dev options force activities resizable doesn't work in split-screen view but I may be doing something wrong
also I hate the lock icon when unlocking also there is no center icon with face/fingerprint or padlock in lock screen

2. icons in overview/multitasking screen
Settings>apps>default apps>home app> quick setup(new name for launcher3)>home screen>home settings>change icon shape >go back to your preferred launcher.

it is now in theming in dev options
also ambient display (not to be confused with screensaver) kicks in when getting notification while the screen is off (edit: realized after posting this Asus renamed and moved to it to display> lock screen display> new notification )
widevine changed to L3 its used to stream Amazon Prime Video, BBC, Hulu, Netflix, Spotify, and Disney+ use Widevine DRM to manage the distribution of premium content. as a college student who has no job and already has to spend money on Jio internet I don't have any above-mentioned subscriptions and if you do use any services according to other beta testers you won't be supposably able to access them while in beta.
camera app
in pro mode no shutter speed control option
max iso in pro mode is 1600 like in HMD global camera
auto video encoder is h264
portrait mode has extremely bad edge detection
night mode isn't that good
no fps option for video like 24,25,29.98,30,60 fps etc
no raw support in stock camera app resulting in assumption camera2api isn't enabled by default, though I enabled it in pie and it carried forward maybe so I am not sure.
it is a bit long but if you are reading this then thanks for reading till the end I'll format the whole thing later
{Mod edit: Quoted OP removed for better reading}
There's really no option for notification led,
You get wake display for new notifications in lock screen display
I don't like that either its ugly pie sliders were better.
Is that even important fonts are fonts and generally no aosp thing gets custom font support and Google sans are for pixel things. Idk about which fonts will our phone get.
Third party launchers will work after December android security patch builds.
Dark mode is in display options and works good.
I don't know what dark theme and wallpaper have to do.
The srgb thing works but android or its apps aren't made to use srgb colors default is rgb which is used by most of the web.
Feature flags were removed by Google in beta 3 of Android 10.
Force activities resizable makes apps which don't work or don't allow split screen (insta) are made to be opened in split screen.
Enabling free form works and can be accessed from recent apps screen - click the app icon - open in free form. (don't know how you tested it)
Auto fill helps in password managers to fill in usernames and passwords.
It's in wake display also same to your missing ambient display.
Other things I've left are either too much to explain / really broken / I don't care of those since I don't use it.
Widevine has changed to l3 you didn't notice.

Regards.
Gestures are enabled by Google after December security patch nova / most other launchers work with gestures. You can however use 2 button and 3 button navigation perfectly.
About that dark and black mode difference we don't have an amoled or led display it's an lcd so it won't make difference in battery but kind of personal choice. I like dark more than black.
The thing about wallpaper and dark thing - in android 9 dark/light theme was set by wallpaper color so live wallpapers needed to support color picker api to tell the device to keep light or dark theme. (it was half broken by asus as selecting dark theme should've disabled the api completely, but using pixel default live wallpapers they had that api so dark mode worked with them).
That srgb was being considered by Google they dropped it as it broke a lot of the things.
You can resize top and bottom windows just hold the middle line in centre and drag it where you want to put it. (I use 400 dpi so I get more steps).
It's because that feature is intended towards large screen tablets or foldables and Samsung made their own thing, (the free form window thing).
It's for devs making password manager apps or autofill apps those people need it for debugging, the logging levels are to make reports to find bugs, the max request is how many times in one field the autofill will attempt to fill in credentials. The max visible dataset is if you have multiple accounts to one app (take Gmail as example) so while trying to autofill it lists all of available accounts to show (I'm not an expert in this so I maybe wrong if needed confirm that.
About sound issue it is very real and use some good quality earphones or compare side by side with 060 running device.

Question Missing "Dim Screen" feature of Android 12 in MIUI 13

Hi everyone,
Android 12 introduced a feature called "Dim Screen" which allows you to further reduce your brightness than lowest possible on brightness slider, but it is missing from MIUI 13.0.4.0 Global Update for RN10 plus. Is there a way to access this feature. I'm asking because apps like Night Screen or Night Owl, which I used to rely on before dont work on Android 12. You cannot interact with UI if any app is "displaying over other apps". I really need much lower brightness at night and its became a hassle.
Anyone knows the solution?
If you're rooted, you can use cf.Lumen on the A12 MIUI ROM. It doesn't seem to have any issues with displaying over other apps, and it's a great app, one of the best of this kind, because it doesn't just put an overlay on the screen, it directly affects color channels.
Without root, I think I remember Twilight causing no issues like that on A12.
I doubt the dimming feature is accessible in MIUI, given that MIUI handles brightness quite differently.

In ancient looks like this:
Same here. On the Xiaomi 12X the extra dim feature is not avaiable. Latest global 13.02
Download the apps called MIUI downloader from Playstore, there was a tab called hid. Features and you will find the extra dim feature there.
Just activate it and it will be shown in control center toggle also
