Package Disabler? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Has anyone tried any? Success or Failure?

I have. I had to change to a different package disabler program though. BK package disabler works. Package disabler Pro does not work or atleast I could not get it to work.

Can't get PDP to activate. Error 204 v4.1 Code=13.

Glad to hear something works. I wonder if an older version of pdp works, as I assume you tried the current version?
Just noticed u said v4.1. I guess not...

PDP will probably have an update to work on 7.1.1 I wouldn't count them out just yet. I love BK, never had any issues, they even reinstated the software update block as well when the note 7 crap cooled down. great app

he said BK disabler works

Thanks. I wish this worked as I hate bloat.

Just tried Bk Package Disabler and it was able to disable both system update apps. This was my top concern because I do this with every new phone in hopes that there is a root exploit out of the gate. Once you update you may lose your chance at any root methods as the first updates very often are to patch security holes

BK Works

I had to use BK package disabler and didn't have any problems installing or disabling apps.

I'm going to make a run at adb to set the device owner instead. Let you know how it all goes.

yeah cause I tried to ADB shell the script to enable device ownership and it didn't work. I gave up because the battery loss I saw this AM on my commute was a good 5% more than my s8+ with debloat. Needed to stop the blood flow.

Disabling System updates is the first thing I want to do. What apps did you disable to achieve this for the Note 8?

there's 2 system update items under the system tab, I disabled them both. after the Note 7 experience I know that this may not be enough. The updates were re-enabled and I had to use Titanium Backup to keep them disabled. Without root the non-root apps will have to do.

Possible Stop New Update 60% Battery Limit, Please Help

Hello,
Can someone please explain if its possible to stop the update that lowers your battery to 60 max charge? Im with tmobile, running on the PI4 and have NOT updated yet but I received my first warning. I want to keep this phone, I dont feel I'm at risk and I only charge the phone when Im awake. Please let me know if this is possble, and if you can point me in the right direction. I'm not a complete newbie but Im not pro either.
Thanks in advance for any help
Look for the new thread under questions and answers saying package disable pro. It'll solve your problem. I also got the update but didn't apply it from Tmobile. Using the steps outlined from the user in package disabler pro version number 6.3 it removed the update icon I had received. Again, be sure to follow the instructions from that new thread by not using the newest version. Use the 6.3 that the poster provided.
Link is below.

You have to also remember and be careful to not update Package Disabler Pro or EZ Disabler in the PlayStore. Samsung forced them to remove system updates from their apps. Sucks to have to manually update everything, but that is where we are at.

I know that wasn't meant for me, but absolutely no can do!! The phone I will get may not be released in the US until January, plus T-Mobile still has my bill jacked up! I'm not going to fight them for a full refund until they stop charging me for a phone I already paid for in full! I've been fighting them since September to correct my bill! Then, they have to clean up that mess of charges for the Tab and everything else. I'm using this baby until the day my refund is clear to be deposited directly back into my account with no problems AND when I can get my hands on the Huawei Mate 9!

*Nougat 7.0* List of Disabled Bloatware on S7 edge At&t Variant

Hello there,
I'm looking for a list of applications that I can disable without ruin other features or apps but I found nothing. If anyone have a list of that apps please share with us. :highfive: I already disable the at&t apps and other that I don't use with Package Disabler Pro. My battery was on %100 at 10pm and overnight is down to %93-%94 with all apps closed and nothing running in the background, is ridiculous.

Overnight, mean 1 hour or 10 hours? Usual usage of battery on stand by is around 1.5% per hour. I got all att apps off plus some Google apps like Google play or music. In standby mode my phone is using around amount I said 1.5% per hour.

Are there really people disabling Samsung Pay? Hard for me to believe. I've only been using it for like 6 months and I've earned well over $100 in free stuff. Just for using tap and pay with my same card instead of just swiping the card. Totally worth it. Just building up a note 8 fund.

VZW Bloatware - Not much on the N8

With my Note 7 and its inferior replacement, the S7E, Verizon had loaded both phones up with a plethora of bloatware. On top of what was preinstalled, I'd constantly find new apps magically appearing every so often.
I subsequently learned that the spontaneous new apps were installed without my permission by DT Ignite, malware (IMO) pre-installed by Verizon. Once that was disabled, things quieted down.
My Note 8 that arrived yesterday had far fewer initial crapware games and apps, and I can't find any evidence of DT Ignite in the Apps Manager. Has Verizon finally smartened up, or do you think they'll find another way to pollute our phones?

It's a background app installed by carriers that will download and install games and apps on your phone whether you want them or not. It's very annoying to purge your phone of bloatware only to see it come back mysteriously by itself.

I had used PDP (Package Disabler Pro) to disable nearly everything it recommended on my Note 7 and the S7E that replaced it, at least until Nougat was released. After the upgrade PDP didn't work anymore, but I pretty much knew what to disable by then and DT Ignite was at the top of my list. Nothing came back after I shut that down, and the 2 or 3 security updates VZW has pushed since then didn't re-enable it.
I'm cautiously optimistic that the Note 8 will stay fairly clean ... at least until Oreo is released for the N8.
et t-mobile tu, brute?
interesting discussion chaps.
i know this is a VZW thread and i apologize for the intercept, but is tmobile likely doing the same thing?
would this ignition program find such apps on t mobile? i get the note8 friday from tmobile (my other phones are unlocked non carrier version so this is the first time ill need to look for stuff like this)

Most of the totally useless crapware cannot be disabled without a package disabler app
FWIW, the one I usually use (Package Disabler Pro) is not working on my Note FE, but, BK Disabler is.
I'd say it's well worth the couple of dollars vs dealing with unwanted bloat ware...

I avoid disabling anything to avoid issues when updates are pushed - I never disabled DT Ignite on my VZW S8 and I never had anything pushed on my phone. Also if you don't want to be tracked, you're using the wrong operating system to begin with.

Good for you, seriously, but that wasn't my experience. I'd wake up to new, unwanted games and apps on my Note 7 and S7 Edge pretty regularly. And after disabling DT Ignite, I never had a problem with any of the updates, including the Nougat release for the S7E. I had to disable DT Ignite again after that installed, but the 3 security updates since have all installed just fine.
Not sure if this is the right place but here it goes. I actually use some VZW stuff. I like the native VZW to VZW video calling. I also love the VZW premium visual voicemail. The VZW cloud is handy, but I can do without.
Anyone know how I get this stuff?
You mean on a non Verizon issued Note 8 or something?
Not bloatware, but I'm pissed ours didn't get the upgrade for the swipe down on homescreen bringing down notifications rather than a 2nd app drawer command.

I just got off the phone with VZW. My HD calling, video calling and visual voicemail isn't working. Not sure if the CSR was right, but she said there is an advance calling setting on the VZW N8 that I couldn't find on my unlocked Sammy N8. I have seen it before on my S8+ so I know What she is talking about.
I said maybe mine isn't provisioned correctly. She said she wasn't sure. I am going to call back tomorrow to speak with tech support

If you really want it, Nova Launcher can do this. I actually prefer using the fingerprint reader for this, though, and you don't need Nova Launcher for it (although I'd rather have Nova Launcher than not).
Yes action launcher does too but the Note is the only phone I usually use the default launcher with. The sensor isn't convenient to me yet.

I'm not giving that leach any more of my money. He thinks people will buy it over and over and Google let's him get by with it.
The reality is that every phone is slightly different. The package disabler works extremely well to remove bloat and freeze everything that you don't want to deal with but preserve Knox and other security things. It's well worth the money in my opinion. Most people pay more money then that app just to drink a cup of coffee once.

It's the principle and I don't pay for the same cup of coffee over and over. Besides the app wouldn't trip Knox if you disabled every app on the phone. It may brick but not trip Knox. There are minimal changes to the app, and occasionally none at all. Taking an app down and then bringing it back, making it a new buy, is unethitical and unnecessary.
Anyone with a list yet? I'll try to post mine

Note 9 poor battery life on Android Pie! (Snapdragon)

So Guys I'm having a really poor battery life on my Note 9 on Android 9. I get aprox 5 hours screen ontime, I used to get 8-9 hrs on beta pie or oreo. I just use my phone for social media apps, YouTube and stuff. Is there any one else who's having this issue? Can anybody recommend something to me for improving the battery life?
...........
Its a serious concern guys, battery life was the main reason I bought this phone for and its a real shame that the battery is so damn poor on latest update!

Also, check these two in the screenshot out in developer options. Read on them and see what you can disable. They have a huge impact.

Google has everything you need. That's how I found out. I'm no expert.

Don't disable the first "software updates", it'll break your galaxy store apps. The second one is what you're looking for
For anyone wondering about standby apps and what the categories mean. Facebook is a big one for me so that's going into rare status

Same here, but i have noticed one thing.
After putting into rare status, it automatically goes back to active state after some time?

I just checked mine and you're right it is active again. I wonder.... So what's the point in having these settings if they just reset at an unknown point or with a restart anyway?

I wouldn't exactly say it's effed up but I will say I think isn't it just OneUI 1.0? It's the first build they have some stuff to iron out and tweaking to do. Battery usually gets fixed with an update here or there not a major one but one tailored for it. I'll give it time myself

I wasn't able to update any of the Samsung apps through the galaxy app store. Specifically "good lock". It always threw an internet connection error for me. It just messes with the galaxy app store in general.
Hmmm odd both of mine are disabled and mine update just fine. Agian was just curious.
