Zagg curved screen protector has a line going down the screeen - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

So I just got the Zagg screen protector yesterday from best buy. looks really good and fits really well with the defender Otterbox case. one thing i noticed later on when watching videos is where the screen curves near the edge there is a line that runs down the side right in the middle if the curve on both sides. Not a super big problem but once i noticed it, kinda is annoying. when doing everyday things you wont see it but when in landscape and the screen is a bright color it will stand out. Anyone else have this screen protector and can verify if theirs has the same problem? ill try and get a picture when i can get hold of another phone.

Can you at least post a picture? This is too long to read.

I contacted zagg and they said it's adhesive on the curved part on the screen and that's what's making that line. As I said in my post when I can I will post a picture.

I think all curved protectors have that line on the very edges. Its the adhesive ( since no glass protectors are full adhesive coverage ). My Zizo Bolt screen protector does the same. Still looks/ feels great even with the faint line and I wouldn't dare run without a protector lol
And it's hard to post a pic because the line is so faint.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Ya not a big deal. Just thought the line was odd. So far loving everything about this phone.

And that's why they usually paint the edges black.
On another note it maybe more prevalent on the zaggs because they use a stronger adhesive and it's slightly thicker

Well what is nice is that there is no Halo effect on the screen protector like there was on the note 5. That was terrible and collected so much crap in it.

Yup no halo. I'm not using the zagg but I'm sure the zizo tgsp is of equal quality. Thank god they didn't do black edges!

How do you like your Zizo Bolt case, the screen protector and the holster so far?
I am considering ordering it, but not sure about the glass. Is the adhesive on all 4 sides or just the top and bottom?
Thx

The adhesive is on all 4 sides. The way they designed it to cut around the earpiece and cameras, it's completely sealed against dirt which is awesome. I've used the bolt case on a few phones and love them. They hold up well against drops.

I got the zagg glass for my note 8 I guess it will work but wish there was a better option, screen just doesn't look as good as other glass screen protectors. I think I would even be happier with one that just ended before the curve and be really thin ... I wish i looked at the forums a bit more for the price the whitestone is looking like a better option the more i look at the phone , such a great looking screen before the zagg got put on, the full glued on ones look so much better with not fuzzy lines on each side. I wonder if i got the LOCA glue and used with the zagg would make it look better then it does now. ugh hate wasting money .... dam you Samsung and your curved edges lol

I'm really liking the Zagg Glass Curve. Extremely easy install; Case friendly; No screen sensitivity issues at all. Looks great!

The Zagg Curve has been improved immensely over what they provided for the S*+. Thicker, nor more loose edges with dust getting under the screen. I have just one complaint.
The dot matrix drives me nuts outdoors, when the phone is off and if the screen isn't up bright enough to make it disappear.

yeah ive used it for two days outside so far and the dot matrix is driving me nuts , also the little gap makes a huge glare and takes away from clarity when out side

Whitestone dome glass is better, it's a pain in the rear to install but it offers full adhesive layer instead of just the top and sides without the dot matrix of the zagg.

XtremeGuard screen protector howto

My quick review on how to install the XtremeGuard screen protector. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqRr7s8ynAQ
This protector plays very well with our devices. It is Zagg quality(not ZaggHD), but it does not wreck havoc with the S-Pen as the ZAGG does. Plus it is quite a bit cheaper than the Zagg protectors.

Assuming all XtremeGuard protectors are the same material just different cuts... I just took the pen and drew lines all over the screen. It's imprinted in there bad. Does not seem go be going away.
Does this have cutouts for the camera/flash? I kinda feel like covering either of them would distort the quality of the picture...

Strange. This is the one that I purchased: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230859857711?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. I've been using the pen, finger, finger nails.. its still in pristine condition. I will have to make a video showing this tomorrow. Im really not sure if they are all the same quality however.

Yes, the shield features cutouts for every spot on the phone, including the back speaker vents.
I bought them when they were on sale. Have them on until I geg something better. They are basically a window cling like material. Not the best, but offers some protection for now

I've got this installed on my phone currently. Bought two of them for $5 during Xtremeguard's 75% off sale. There's one cloudy spot from the install that never cleared up, and several pin-sized air bubbles that never cleared out either. The S Pen imprints on the screen hard, and leaves easily-traceable lines behind. I'm less than a week into using the thing, and the lines are already becoming very annoying.
I'd say they're not worth buying, honestly. I'd only use them as temporary protectors while waiting for a better one to come in, and the 3-packs of dry-apply junk protectors for $1 or whatever can do that job well enough. On any non-S Pen phone, I'd be almost ok with the protector, assuming the air bubbles and haziness left behind on mine were one-offs. On any phone with an S Pen, look elsewhere.

Ismooth is so Disappointing! Doesnt even cover the whole screen!

I am really hoping I received a defective batch! I see the ISMOOTH has some good reviews and I have no idea why? I even went back to the box and made sure my ismooth was made for the note 2 cause I thought it was an error and meant for the note 1. Attached are some pics. As you can see it does not come close to edge to edge coverage. Or top to bottom for that matter...
There supposed to be like that cause of the curved screen on the note.

It looks like ir protects the screen just not the entire front. The reason its uneven on home button is from lookin at the 2 pics that shiw it on each side of screen. The protector was applied uneven. Its to far to the left

You're joking, right? Only a very select few screen protectors cover to the edge of the Note II. This is because of the curved glass on the Note II; the edges of the screen protector would never adhere to the curved part, and you'd be replacing them in a matter of days because they'd peeled up.
Please read at the least pinned screen protector review thread, which mentions this several times, before slamming a screen protector with a ridiculous complaint based upon your not reading.
*Edit: And based upon your asymmetric installation.

I am not joking at all! My ismooth is nothing like the one in the installation video. Mine did not have the greenish cover to make sure it alligns properly. Yes, my ismooth is installed a little to the left but that still doesnt come near the left edge. I am coming from a tech armor which covers the whole screen
The ones with the greenish cover are the bad ones. You want the newer ones with no green cover.

My ismooth was a top install and not a bottom istall like the video. If it was too far to the left then this top would look horrible!

Then why post if you deny the replies. The curved glad part will make your screen protector peel if it stretches across the whole glass. Not to mention if you use a case those will peel it off if you use a good case.

And those are all non traditional (peel and stick) installs. Plus, the s-pen literally annihilates those. I got a Zagg HD when I got this phone. It was so marred in 3 weeks that the Zagg kiosk that I bought it from let me flat out return it!
Sure, these don't go to the edge of the screen. If you want one that does, search for the Voyager 2 by xgear. After shipping its around $40 but it looks awesome. I have a Chinese knockoff that works great too, but the black has glitter which is very annoying so it is not on my phone right now.
Out of dry, traditional installs, iSmooth is the best bang for your buck. Quality of SGP ultra crystal (or at least the next best thing to it), the rainbow effect isn't too bad on it since its a horizontal rainbow throughout, and it has a lifetime warranty even if you screw up the install.

You see, the Note 2 (and*Galaxy S3) phones are very difficult when it comes to Screen Protectors. As you probably know, the very edges of these Samsung phones are curved and due to the curve,*it creates issues with "lifting." *Not on all the phones, just a small percentage of them (~%5).

ZAGG Glass for the Note 5 = Halo Free !

Installed the Zagg Glass today on my black Note 5 and I'm happy to report that I have no halos at all. I did have some stubborn bubbles that took a while to press out but everything came out prefect (except my sore thumbs). The is the Zagg Glass I purchased from Verizon and is the Full Screen Coverage Version.
Here are a few pictures.

No, the one that Best Buy is selling has that blue tint to it. This one is clear.
I have the same one and it does not look blue. I think there is a different version that adds the tint.
Wish I'd known that. Oh well.

I just worry about cases messing with it as it's so close to the edge.
I got halo's on mine even after pressing and holding the edges for a very long time
Zagg Glass UPDATE: The Otterbox commuter case causes the Zagg glass to peel up in certain areas when you put on the outer shell.
I guess this glass is not "Case Friendly" like past Zagg glass offerings.
I have a UAG case coming but until then I can't use the commuter.
Just a heads up as I don't know if this glass "Full Screen Coverage" will play nice with any case.
This sucks.

If it hasn't been set for a while, you will need to re align it. It's probably happening on only one side (likely top or bottom)? That tiny bit is hanging off the end of the flat area on the screen.

Good Tempered glass screen protector that even I could Install right first try!

Otao sent me their new screen protector for the Note 8, and I have to say, this is probably as good as it gets for normal stick on tempered glass protectors on this phone.
The box is pretty standard and comes with all the screen protector installation essentials.
The key to a good installation on any screen protector is making sure that your phone is clean and that you line up the protector perfectly. This is where the installation tray shines... I have installed protectors in the past on phones (feel free to look at old posts) and I can honestly say that this installation tray is the best one I have used... Initially I was worried because when I went to put the glass into it, it was tight. I thought maybe the sizes were off, but no, it was exactly the right size to make sure that there was very little to no wiggle room in there for the protector. This is good obviously because it only lets you put it in one spot, the right one.
Once you have it lined up, you just drop on the glass and make sure the edges are all the way down. (I just used the included microfiber cloth and went over them a few times.) Next you pop off the guide tray and you're done.
If you are using this screen protector without a case you will notice the increase in thickness, but it's not terrible. With a case however it fixes one of my biggest pet peeves.
You have to be careful when putting cases on when you have this screen protector installed because the bezels are so small on the phone that in order for it to actually protect the whole screen it goes pretty much all the way to the end. BUT this is awesome because the cases that I tried (ringke and rhinoshield) didn't knock off or move the screen protector, they came right up to the edge of it and sat almost flush. (I like this because I HATE when pocket lint gets caught between the protector and the case as I am sure many of you do.)
One thing I noticed is that while this protector does have the black bars all the way around it, it looks like they shrunk on the sides a little bit when compared to the Otao protector from the s8+. This makes it sort of a middle ground between the ones that have the clear sides but you can see the glue and the protectors that have black all the way around but cut off some of the screen. It's not perfect but I like how you don't lose much, if any of the screen real estate and you can only see a little bit of the adhesive.
Overall I would say that this screen protector (so far) is pretty legit. I haven't noticed any loss in sensitivity, no rainbowing, no clicking and no covering over any sensors. The dot matrix is visible under certain lighting conditions but that is to be expected.
I only just installed this protector and will update this post if anything goes wrong or changes, but if this is like my S8+ version, i'm sure I won't have any issues.
If you have any questions or anything let me know and i'll try to respond and get them answered.

Edge only. Forget about full adhesive, except whitestone. I've ordered two classic full adhesive @ AliExpress. A joke Bubbles, not adhering properly on the right and left side. And well the UAG wouldn't have fit with both too. Opened a dispute for both and got my money back.

OnePlus 5T Official Tempered Glass Screen Protector Review

Hi folk,
With another OnePlus product comes another OnePlus attempt at making a tempered glass screen protector which works for it. Will it be this time that is the magic attempt?
If you dont want to or can't watch the video here are my thoughts:
Yes, they seem to have finally made a tempered glass which fits perfectly on the screen without much cut off. I say much as I think there is still a tiny cut off, but it's nowhere near as noticeable as it was on the 3/3t or 5. If you want to take a look, its on the video at around the 4:04 mark.
The quality is excellent, you can barely feel or see that it's there. There are no sharp edges as the screen tapers off at the edge. It's a full glue screen protector so there is no dot matrix or rainbox effects. You do however have to be fairly careful whilst applying it and taking it off its bed as it feels like it could snap fairly easy if you rush it.
Pros:
Good fit
Feels premium
No dot matrix
No rainbox effect
Cons:
Pricey
Could break easily whilst installing
On the pricey mark, if OP have managed to make this perfect this time, I'd expect third party manufacturers to release a similar product soon at a cheaper price. So if you want to wait and do that I wouldn't blame you.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Jono
Thanks for that, good to know as I ordered one with my 5T.
Hopefully there is a decent bunch of 3rd party ones too.
A spigen tempered glass is my all time favorite screen guard.

Thanks for this. I wanted to know how much it will cut of the screen but its much lesser than earlier.
But i need to disagree something with you. You (and many others) said it was issue etc. on OP3/3T/5 what last TGSP cutted off screen. Well it wasnt really issue or fault on Oneplus side. They needed to choose to have adhesives only on sides and no cut-off or adhesives on fully but had to cut-off. That was because of OP3/3T/5 front glass design where glass started ro bend (2.5D) earlier than usual. Thats why black borders was bigger as otherwise you would get ugly halo's and nobody likes that.
About price. Dont know where you leave but here in Finland 20€ price is nearly cheapest TGSP avaible here. Usually TGSP's here costs around 25-50€ depending of phone model so 20€ is more than just normal price for us. So okay maybe its little pricey compared ro your country but on many others it isnt.
This is my first OP device so I know nothing about past issues, but this is by far the best fitting, best sealing TGSP I have ever installed. Typically with screen protectors the edges do not want to seal/stick but the squeegee made quick work of getting all the bubbles out. There are a few pieces of inevitable lint but not one single bubble.
It does cut a tiny bit of the screen off which gives a weird depth to the screens appearance so for that I give it 9/10. If it was totally clear or just had the black at the top and bottom it would be 10/10 for sure.
Is it possible to use tpu case along with this 3d tempered glass?

I'm using the original one and is perfect with the original case/Bumper.
Mine is not so perfect and the screen is slightly cover on the edge. is not a huge problem, but is noticeble if you see the phone from a side.
in any case is far better than the original plastic protector and perfect with a case.

It works with all the official cases you can get from OnePlus and I see no reason to why it wouldn't work with a standard TPU. Will let you know more when I get some cases.

Because of edge alignment, it doesn't work on the OP5, so I'll order only if it's going to work with tpu case i got.

Does anyone notice that the display looks a little grainy with the OnePlus tempered glass? I haven't used the phone without the protector, so I'm not too sure if it's the protector or the display that is a little grainy.

The one that came in the box. I want to order a 3d tempered glass and a premium case so that they can work together. Looking yet for a compatible combo.

I just removed the protector to see how the screen looks naked. The "grainy-ness" is gone. I also noticed a potential problem with the protector. The adhesive doesn't go all the way to the top or bottom of the protector, so when I removed it I found a lot of dust stuck to the top and bottom bezel of the phone. This could cause scratches. Even though the scratches would not be on the display, I don't want scratches anywhere on the glass. If I keep this phone I'll try an IQshield.
With the bubbles settling behind, a lot of little dust has been captured.
I also notice grainy-ness. I'm likely going to ditch it and just go naked...
I just got my for 10€. And yes, it still crops a bit from both sides but not like OP3/3T/5. And yes, there is grainy-ness as stated above. You cant notice on black background but on white yes.
I bought the '5T full scratch protection' bundle with my phone. I have an unopened "3D Tempered Glass Screen Protector" and an opened (but unused) "Sandstone Protective Case". My plan was going to be to use the case until Spigen comes out with a 5T case, but I just decided to rock the case that came with my 5T instead.

To be frank I wouldn't have noticed the grainy screen till I read your comment. But now that I've read it.... The screen protector does induce the grainy effect. It's a perfect fit imho, though it definitely does give out that grainy effect. I'm guessing I'll stop noticing it in a couple of days time.
I had an extra IQshield (wet apply) protector for a Pixel 2 XL. I cut a little off the top and it fit fine. I must say, the IQshield is very clear, no grainy screen for me.
I have to put my 2 cents in on this. The official tempered glass is pretty great. I had no issue installing, it stayed in place, zero bubble at all, and feels great. using it with the official sandstone case.
