Any recommendations for a cheap tempered glass protector? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Is anyone here using a cheap tempered glass protector and is satisfied with it? By that I mean perfect seal on the sides and no dust has gotten inside the screen area. By cheap I obviously mean side adhesive protectors since I have yet to see a generic version of the Whitestone.
I'm asking because they're not all the same. I bought one for my S8+ and it fully adhered to the sides of the screen. No dust ever got into the screen area.
I bought a 4-pack from a different seller on ebay and I would get dust inside within a day so obviously some use better adhesive than others.
I need to pick up something from Amazon or Ebay quickly. I'm using the Ringke Invisible Defender (garbage) and there's too much friction when scrolling or when using the s-pen.
It's like making love to tree bark.

I'm on my third and they all suck so far. I even purchased a 25 dollar one due to great reviews. It fit great but no glue on the screen so there was a HUGE loss of sensitivity and a lot of "clicking". I just bit the bullet and bought the Whitestone Dome Glass.

I'm on my second one so far and still not happy. I tried one from Poetic and totally sucked. Sucked so bad they e-mailed me lol and said they were sending out replacements.
I'm using one now that's better than the first one but still not happy. This one's by Wellci. It's not great but it's cheap and works pretty good.
Galaxy Note 8 Screen Protector, Wellci 3D Curved Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Ultra Clear) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0751FFHMF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YVZTzbQS3H9G1
I said pretty good.... Not great.

ive tried several, they all peel up on the corners...idk what to do

Weren't they able to pull these off for the 7? Kind of concerned, I bought a wet apply which I haven't opened yet. Seems like the dark ages.

I have high hopes for the IQ shield wet apply as I had a good experience with the S8+ version. Hopefully they have a matte version.
The Spigen wet apply isn't very good.
But all of these wet apply ones are going to be terrible given the use of the s-pen.

I bought a cheap tempered glass screen protector from eBay hoping it would be ok.
This thread does not inspire hope.
Once my phone arrives, I'll apply the screen protector and report back.
I may be quite angry.

The ONLY one worth a $hit is the whitestone dome glass. All the others are trash plain and simple. I had it on my S8+ and it was perfect and I expect the same out of the note 8 version. I am waiting for mine to come in actually. Should be here by next monday I believe.

Simply use loca octopus glue and a uv light on any of those options. Whitestone replica

Had two of these (the glass) its okay, hit and miss really. My first order had really nice tapered edges but the silicon peeled away from the phone edge itself , my second order (damn their 90% off sales) had very very slight tapering- to the point where it was sharp, but this one stuck to the edge just fine however was prone to chipping on the sides. I have it on to this day, albeit a crack or two (from drops) and the oleophobic coating doesn't last very long... But honestly for the price its pretty good for what you get. It's also very strong.
Unless they've changed it, the HD one is terrible. It goes edge to edge, but because of the curved glass it doesn't completely stick down. Mine caught on my pocket and peeled off in a matter of minutes after applying it.
The tempered glass is much better and is what I have been using since they came out in June. I posted a mini review here which was mostly positive, minus the rim of bubbles. I had to replace my device a few months ago so I ended up putting another one on. Not sure if it was cut slightly better or I got a perfect alignment, but there's only a slight amount bubbles along the left side and that's it. Much less noticeable (and not at all with my case on). I can get a picture if you want. I paid $4 for mine, but even at $6 I think it's a great deal.
Also, if you do get one, don't follow their directions for putting it on. Use the "hinge" method instead (google/youtube it)
I'd stay away. I figured with the 90% off coupon I'd try one of their ridiculously priced tempered glass protectors. When I opened it I found that it already had some dust on it but I installed it anyway. The edges never stuck and it looked like ****. I contacted them and they sent me a replacement, which upon opening I realized wasn't for the G2. Back to waiting for them to reply to email and then another 2 weeks to try for a successful replacement...
On sale, and now only $4.50 with coupon code "newyear85". I'm tempted to try, but I already have a regular screen protector perfectly installed, so don't really want to risk it...

I was in the exact same situation as you and regret my decision to remove my already-installed screen protector to try the Spartan. After my bad experience and multiple emails they eventually refunded my money.

Are Spigen screen protectors good?

Looking into getting a decent screen protector for my G4 when it arrives and I came across this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Protector-Spigen®-Crystal-JAPANESE-Definition/dp/B00UMDPLJK
Or would I be better with Orzly or Fosmon?
Just wondered what the general consensus was on them?

I'd recommend getting a tempered glass one - had one on my S5 since launch and still not a mark on it, doesn't attract fingerprints as much and feels much better than using a film one IMO.

So, maybe this one?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fosmon®-Pro...797996&sr=1-5&keywords=lg+g4+screen+protector
I was going to go for that one, but I think it ships from USA so you'll be waiting a while. I ended up getting the Casebase one based on other people's feedback (not used it yet as waiting patiently by my front door for the courier to knock!) - it's a bit more expensive but you get two in the pack. Mine arrived within a couple of days.
Bought this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Orzly®-Prot...797996&sr=1-4&keywords=lg+g4+screen+protector
Hopefully that one will be ok, keep in mind though all the reviews relate to the G3 version.
The Spigen one for the G2 and G3 wasn't all that great, but I believe it came with an extra or two, so that you can change it whenever. It did scratch easily for me, however.
I had some for a Nexus 5 I never bought (got the G2 instead). They felt the same as the iCarez ones I got for my G2, which were really good for film protectors. They had scratches on them in like 3 months, but the Spigen pack has like 3 in the package, so you should be set for around a year if you are tolerant enough.

They're really good. I do field engineering work and we sometimes have steel shavings on our hands my Nexus 5 had a screen protector and it looked mangled up but when I replaced it with a new one the screen look the Immaculate when I remove the old spigen screen protector.
I've got one from Skinomi TechSkin . Smooth, clear and durable. No complaint so far.
I always loved the speigen protectors. They are thicker. The matte ones are my go to on tablets. Prevents fingerprints and helps keep the screen from getting sticky during a gaming session.
just a question.
i've never used tempered glass screen protectors. my fear is that their added thickness would somehow feel sharp and uncomfortable in the edges, swiping laterally and holding in hand.
is this right? 0.24mm is not that much, but it is surely something.

The majority of tempered glass screen protectors have a curve along the edges so no need to worry about the uncomfortable feel
I've got KlearCut screen protectors for the LG G4.
too expensive. i found sth on ebay
the same as it show in SPG,much cheaper ,the same as SPG
Spigen screen protectors are great. Recommend!
Spigen one is good. But it is expensive. There are so many tempered screen film on the market. You can find one with good quality at a best price. Just personally suggestion.
Yeah,Spigen is expensive. I have tried this brand and it works great .
IQ Shield Liquid Skin screen protectors can compete with expensive brands.. It's wet install type of film guaranteed to provide long lasting results. Got one for my S6 and it holds up pretty well to coins and keys..relatively cost effective..
It is look nice, but it is expensive. Maybe you can find one with good quality at a best price.

Is there ANY tempered glass screen protector that's great with Note 5??

Ok, I've looked through forums, threads here and there, Amazon, manufacturer sites, web searches... and my takeaway is that glass protectors for the Note 5 are a problem... in particular the protectors don't fully cover the screen (just the flatter part) and there are halo effects. The non-curvature issue can also cause dust to accumulate, apparently, by getting into the edges.
Is there, in fact, ANY really great tempered glass screen protector that does the job?? One that fully fits the curves along of the Note 5's screen, has non-sharp edges, and isn't a headache to install or otherwise deal with? I see the same type complaints whether the glass protector is inexpensive or at the high-price end.
I have a new Note 5 arriving next week, and I'd love to know which are the top choices. Or, because of the curved screen, front side, is this just a holy grail search never to be reached?
My guess is that once manufacturer's continue to get feedback they will fix the issue, but it will take time and feedback from consumers. The device is fairly new so I would say in about another month or so the issues Should, or so I would hope, be ironed out. If you cannot wait, I would suggest getting a case with a built in screen protector. Give Artech21 a jingle, they have a case with a built in screen protector, and I believe they are still looking for testers for their cases. I am going to be receiving mine whenever they ship. At the moment it seems like September 30th, at least according to Amazon, but I hope to get one sooner than later.
Either way, a decent case and being careful will go far to help deal with your screen until, either manufacturers fix the issues, or you can get a case with a built in screen protector.
I bought the tempered glass screen protector at the T-Mobile store. Forget the brand, but came in a big green box, with a roller and bed like thing to put the phone in, and apply it dummy proof easy. It is on clear and zero bubbles, and can barely even see the protector whatsoever.
Skinomi.com is where I purchased mine. Absolutely perfect for my Tab S so I made the purchase for the Note. Also perfect in every way! I paid around 7 bucks through ebay

This is the screen protector your talking about http://www.pure-gear.com/shop-by-de...oll-on-kit-biodegradable-samsung-devices.html, Also cheaper direct through manufacturer by about $15. At any rate it looks like a good screen protector and very easy to apply. I may give it a shot once I get my device sorted out.
The Zagg glass from Verizon is a perfect fit, but if you have to be insanely accurate. If you are, the results are amazing. I read on another thread that version Best Buy carries does not fit well so I went straight to Verizon. Yes it's pricey but worth it. I'm used to staying under $15 for a glass one for my last few purchases. I purchased 2 backups (different manufacturers) for $3 total from Amazon with coupon codes, but it's good to know I won't need them. Let me know if you need pictures.
edit: For the most part, halos are causes by wrong cuts or if you are off by a hair in either direction. If applied correctly with the right brand, it should cover 100% of the flat area before the curve.
Thanks!
Pictures would be great!
Also... thanks everyone for the input so far! For the above-mentioned glass protectors, do they cover the curved part of the screen in a form-fitting way?
In the meanwhile, I've ordered from Amazon a couple of glass screen protectors as an inexpensive first step solution awaiting products that subsequently come out that may take advantage of user stories/input. The two are: (1) IVSO with lifetime warranty and (2) YooTech with lifetime warranty.
I also ordered three Note 5 cases from Amazon to try: (1) Spigen Air Cushion Slim Armor Case, Champagne Gold, model SGP11687; (2) Spigen Neo Hybrid Carbon Case, Gunmetal, model SGP11689; and (3) Urban Armor Gear Case, Black.
Unless I have totally overlooked it, you won't find a protector that covers the curve in a glass form. It wouldn't be physically possible since the glass protectors do not have any bend/give at the ends to cover the edges of the screen.
Looks to be possible
I wonder what might be the engineering reason for not producing a curved tempered glass screen protector. Cost perhaps? For example the screen itself is curved, why can't the protector be formed (molded in a sense) to mate to that? Search on "curved tempered glass" and you'll see that it is possible to create curved tempered glass.
Also, look up: "Cinder .2 mm Gorilla Glass Screen Protector for iPhone 6/6+" on YouTube (I'm new to XDA, can't post links yet!). This protector IS curved on the edges to follow the form of the phone. I'd love to see this for Note 5!
The Cinder is from Cupert. Check out Cupert (period) com.

i'm using this on my Note5, and so far, it's has the least amount of "halo" effect. probably .5 mm or less and barely noticeable unless you're looking for it; i can live with that for now. (see picture below) i used a T-Mo discount to purchase and have installed in the store. was told as long as i have my receipt they'll replace it if there's significant "halo".

Zero haloing. It might look that way because of the angle I shot it (6 plus camera .. sadface)
Supersheild works fine.
Mixed reviews + hope for the future
For all of the above-mentioned glass screen protectors, when I look at their Amazon ratings, I see overall a mixed set of reviews, primarily around halo issues and the screen not fitting enough of the Note 5's glass, and with some users having complaints about installation. My conclusions so far: that this represents what's currently on the market. However, presumably there's hope for a better product, e.g., a Gorilla Glass thin, sleek glass protector that curves to edges and fully form fits the entire screen, as is the case with the Cinder product made for the iPhone (in which instance the holy grail seems to have been found). We now know that this appears to be possible for a large curved device (see the Cinder references/web site I mentioned above).
My hunch is that a fully form-fitting glass protector would also provide better shock protection for the screen versus one that doesn't fully mate to the screen, curves and all.

Can you confirm if it's actually glass? I was going to buy it (not from tmobile, $40 is robbery) but the "flexible" part is what threw me off. How can a tempered glass SP be flexible? The mfg website states that it's made of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).

I got the same one and yes it is dummy proof but the sides don't lay flat. It also gets greasy really easy. I've used this one http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Tem...pebp=1441665200689&perid=1CDB4C1PX00MRMTNJ7SD on other devices and it seems to work a lot better.

What screen protectors do you recommend?

Hi, I've bought recently this phone and wanted a sturdy screen, preferably a glass tempered one but I've got no idea what brands to go for or if those that you can buy cheap on ebay are enough. I'm a bit clumsy so the possiblity of it slipping out of my hand by accident and falling on its screen is there. If anyone can give some input based on experiences, that'd be great.
Cheap plastic ones from amazon always seem to work fine on all my devices.. When they get scratched I have no issues throwing on a new one.
They are cheap but keep the screen flawless

hi, i am using nillkin H+, i bought it from amazon
Things i liked in this Nillkin :
1) my friends tempered glasses catches scratches, fades after long time use (4 months) and makes screen unusable in rain, but as nillkin is having real nano coating it helps me to operate my phone even in rain with out much problem
2) i bought a tempered glass before worth 270inr from ebay it was good to look, but when i was about to remove it as its not having Nano coating on it, then i observed that it cracked and formed small powder fragments on edges when i tried to remove it with hard plastic :silly:
later i installed nillkin, had to remove this also as i didnt manage to fit it perfectly on my screen.. i used the same hard plastic, this time Nillkin tempered didnt break nor atleast formed any tiny fragments, i lifted it and set again with out any problem
these are my observing on my tempered glass
I bought a tempered glass one for around $3 on eBay, haven't gotten it yet. I don't know if the more expensive ones are better, but better can mean 2 things. Either that it's stronger, so won't break easily; or that it protects the phone better. I doubt one will protect the phone more than the other.

I do the same thing. No problems yet.
I bought a nillkin H+ but removed it after a while because the phone screen is much less oleophobic. With the screen protector on, the fingerprints were extremely annoying, at least on my sample.

Undersized
I bought a tempered glass one from an online (no brand). It's undersized, about 1.5mm all around. Probably useful to allow a case to grip the front edge, but the description didn't say so. I feel cheated, but for the price it'll do.
My previous tempered glass ones (branded) were excellent protection, and felt better on my finger than the plastic ones.
[edit] I forgot to say, the shape is one with cut-out north of the top speaker, rather than the others I've seen with speaker hole.
Moto G Premium Quality Screen Protector is Anti Glare Matte edition in my recommendation.
it Protects your device from scratches & dust. Easy to Apply , Fits perfectly and requires no cutting. Comes with a cleaning cloth and application card. Easily removable with no sticky residue or marks
Tempered glass screen protector from amazon
I've been using a SPARIN tempered glass screen protector since I got my moto g in August. (It's about $8 on amazon; unfortunately I can't post a link, but it should be easy to find)
I've managed to crack it in at least 8 places (my phone falls a lot), but it hasn't picked up any scratches yet, and it's protected the actual glass underneath. If you're even a little proficient at holding things, it should be fine.
Snakehive protector
I've only had it a few days, but I bought a Snakehive tempered glass protector for my new G3, from their Amazon store. Very pleased so far. It has cutouts for the mouthpiece at the bottom and for the earpiece, light sensor and camera at the top, although at the top it doesn't surround them for some reason, but that's only a couple of milimetres uncovered. It was a breeze to put on when compared to film protectors. I laid it over the mouthpiece and it simply eased itself into place over the rest of the screen. Seems a bargain at the current £3.95.
I'm wanting to get the flip down case from Snakehive too, assuming they get more stock in.

First day of smartphone, yes good idea to have a screen protection. But now with gorilla glass, useless.
It's my point of view.

I used and have a Mr shield or something like that from Amazon super easy too install i've had no bubbles when placing it on the phone also bought a case where there was enough space that should it fall on the screen side it's not touching the floor I've dropped my phone about 5 times over the course of a year. Took off the case and replaced the screen protector and it still looks like brand new minus where I've blindly inserted the USB cord.

my phone has some minor scuffs and little bend on bottom right corner but thats coz the phone fell from above 5 feet . must say the build quality is very solid
Honestly, you just don't need them these days. Had my G3 6 months, not a single scratch and I am hardly careful with it, gets thrown in pocket with keys and lose change, and dropped often because I am clumsy. Plenty of dents along the bezel but screen as good as new.

Recommended screen protector?

I just received an IQ Shield Matte screen protector and I'm really disappointed. It screws up the colors and whites have a rainbow effect to them. I took it off and now I'm looking for a new one. I'd like one that is:
1. Anti-glare
2. Anti-fingerprint
3. Clear and doesn't screw with this beautiful display.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
Thee one and only,,,,but more importantly expensive whitestone dome screen protector is probably the most I've heard of working...45 to 50 dollars tho
Any you can recommend about $20 and under?
First I tried the Spigen NeoFlex film screen protectors and they are garbage. Then I ordered a cheapo full cover tempered glass screen protector from eBay and it works great.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3D-Full-Cov...ector-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-8-/332345555824
I've only been using it for about a week so I can't say how well it will keep dust out. Sensitivity is great, I don't notice it's on at all. It's not Anti-glare or Anti-fingerprint but it's only $8.
I'm using the i-blason tempered glass.
Under $20, it's still on, doesn't interfere with the screen.
It's still going to collect fingerprints and smudges due to the oils in our skin, but it wipes off easily.

There are plenty of discussions under the accessories section
But I'd say don't bother. I had one tempered glass protector on for an hour before it annoyed me too much and I removed it! Destroys the feel and use of the phone.
I have been buying the RhinoShield stuff for my stuff and its held up really well for me.

Plus, nobody else's stuff has any evidence that even suggests it actually works.
I havn't tried it for the note8 but I came by this thread while I was researching if anyone had so figure I'd mention it. It is expensive to get the whole kit (screen protector, bumper, and in this case rear glass protector), but I found it worth it..
I have a cheapo '2.5D' glass and its doing well. Touch response is worse mind.
There is a speaker hole at the top; this needs covering with a bit of tape or you wil get dust between the screen and the protector.

There are plenty of discussions under the accessories section
But I'd say don't bother. I had one tempered glass protector on for an hour before it annoyed me too much and I removed it! Destroys the feel and use of the phone.

I purchased a relatively inexpensive TG protector. While it exhibits many of the drawbacks of TG protectors that aren't full-adhesive (i.e. all of them except the Whitestone Dome), it doesn't have quite the "rainbow effect" that I've seen with other protectors.
Its real downside, though, is its slickness ... I need a more paper-like surface to better control the s-pen. Just the tiniest bit of friction would help. I'm thinking that I may have to go to a film protector rather than TG to get that, though. Does anyone else have this issue with TG protectors?

I just received an IQ Shield Matte screen protector and I'm really disappointed. It screws up the colors and whites have a rainbow effect to them. I took it off and now I'm looking for a new one. I'd like one that is:
1. Anti-glare
2. Anti-fingerprint
3. Clear and doesn't screw with this beautiful display.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Ever since the introduction of the edge curved screen (and I have owned the lot) I have never found a decent screen saver. It is a subject on every forum here on XDA and concerning all the Samsung edge models.
I have taken recommendations only to find them useless. Some use a glue, some have a dotted appearance after application some just suck period!
I used a partial screen saver once that just covered the centre of the screen but even that proved awful. Even used Samsungs own on the Note 7 and though that was not glass it also was horrible.
If any peer here does find a working screen protector PLEASE let us know.

Whitestone is the best.
I like the Spigen NeoFlex, it's been great so far for me. Went on easily, hasn't peeled off the corners/edge (and I use the Spigen Tough Armor case) and after the 12 hours to settle on the screen it looks great and writing on it with the s-pen feels good too. My personal opinion and the only one I've tried so far on my Note 8

Can the Whiitestone be removed once it's been glued to the Screen?
yes
I got the Bodyguardz glass protector sold to me at the AT&T store (lazy me). The guy installed it and it's ok. Glass protectors have an innate problem in that they sometimes don't transmit touches to the touchscreen itself. This one is no different but it does fit well. And it has a lifetime free replacement policy. I'll keep it to protect my screen.
