[Q] Xperia Z UK 4g?

I've seen the xperia z will be on 3, O2, car phone warehouse, phones4u and Vodafone but so far no word from EE? Does anyone know when or if ever EE will be getting it? It is Sony's flagship for this year and is 4G enabled so it's odd they haven't announced it yet, I did ask an EE worker in one of their high street stores and he was wording things carefully as it was evident he was specifically told what to not say etc. he ended up saying that officially they have no idea but it is extremely likely to happen. Anyone got further info for this yet?

They should have them around the release date in march, phones4u will start selling from the 1st of march so there's no reason why we cant get it on our network

It's being listed as 4G compatible on CPW so EE must be getting it.

Found a blog post on sony's site stating that it is intentionally compatible with EE spectrum's so it is seeming really likely. Hopefully they dont wait too long, i really so want this in february...

Yes it will be coming to the UK with 4G enabled, frankly enough this doesn't bother me because EE's UK coverage is pretty weak and their deals are rather extortunate if you ask me, whats more interesting for me however is the 4G frequencies that the xperia Z supports. It supports the following frequencies:
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - C6603
Vodafone and 02 Plan to use the 800Mhz - 2600 Mhz - (2.6Ghz) frequencies in the next 6 months for 4G, so this is great for those who will buy this and upgrade to 4G in the coming future, when it comes out in summer.
EE and 3 and orange and Tmobile currently use the 1800Mhz - 1.8Ghz frequencies, which the xperia Z also supports!
In total the 4G frequencies for the UK will be 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2.6GHz bands which means its future proof for 4G and 3G which is a Deal winner for me ! - Source

Three havent got 4g but have been working on there DC-HSDPA which is already in 50% of the UK and hopefully 80% by march and they think its nealry as fast as the 4g at the moment have look at link

So threes xperia Z's not the 4G model?

the phone i think can connect to both frequencies so should be 4g compatible when three release it and just saw today they said they will be bring 4g network at end of the year and giving everyone unlimited data on it. btw just preordered xperia z

Hi all,
Has anyone got any clarification from 3 if the Z will support DC-HSDPA? Just as I haven't seen anywhere that states it supports DC-HSDPA only 4G (LTE). I'm only asking as I am in dispute with 3 atm as they sold me the Note 2 (7100) on the basis of it being 4G enabled, I spoke to many of their advisors and managers and they all confirmed it was, I knew that it would as the 7105 supports 4G, but I played dumb just so I can get it exchanged in the future when they release 4G......it's just I have since fell in love with this beauty

I was looking forward to a 4G experience until I too realised the questionable prices for what you get for being on EE (especially data-wise). However, with my contract up, I had my pick of the Sim-only plans, of which I was looking to spend around £30 - £40 per month. Saw an EE 12-month contract with unlimited texts and minutes along with 5GB of data which I thought was great. Then I discovered that the 4G in my area wouldn't be great, and at the same time saw a 12-month T-Mobile Full Monty pack providing unlimited everything for £21 per month... :good:
I jumped on that deal, and pre-ordered my Xperia Z from Clove...

The thing is O2 data Is a Bolt On, it's not part of my Contract, so when they Roll out 4G do we just swap one bolt on for a 4G one?

Hey, I have not looked at asian note 5 yet, I will do so soon.
For Europe, you need gsm and lte 3, 7, and 20 (1800, 2600, 800 MHz) [no26-800MHz # no20-800MHz! ...]
To use US phones for Europe, this is what i have come up with.

I based that on what I found for SM-N920 A/V/P (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint), German/UK LTE network requirements, and the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920 A/V/P/F, F=Europe/Int). I guess the Note 5 is pretty much a S6 with larger screen and pen, so network capabilities should not differ too much between the S6 and the Note 5, hopefully.
I will get a AT&T device soon, hopefully only bootloader unlocked and just KNOX (don't care too much about warranty for US phone since I import it...). AT&T should work for most of Europe, or respectively for LTE 3, 7, and 20....
I see what I can find for the Asian Note 5 ('s) and msg back

And it works just fine here in the netherlands.
At my home I don't have 4G.
Outside there is no problem.
I think the singapore one misses the 800 band.
4G is working only in the big cities here for now with this note 5.
Later this year the phone company release another bands.

800Mhz is to 1800 and 2600MHz LTE - loosely compared - as 5GHz Wifi is to 2.4GHz -- higher transfer speeds at the higher frequencies but shorter range and less signal through obstancles, generally speaking.
Would explain why inside you would not get a great LTE signal, if the 800MHz band is missing.... imho

But the seller told me the 800 is there.
And now I know there is not a 800.
But here in the netherlands the provider also uses the 1800,but only in the big cities.
That's why the phone picks up 4G when I am outside.

yh, most european countries use all 800, 1800, and 2600, depending on region/area/whatnot...
just saying, without 800 capability, and when you happen to have 800 mast outside your area, you might not get signal, especially inside... ofc you can still have lte via 1800 and 2600, provided you are close enough and have a mast nearby, more likely in the cities (lots of data over short ranges)

Still I am happy with the note 5.

Also, Seller MIGHT have said 800 is there, as in 800MHz B26, but what you'd need in Europe is 800MHz-B20...

on my N920I I have the following:
WCDMA: 2100, 900, 850, 1900

Nokia 8 have Different Variants?

Hi all, I purchased nokia 6 (ta-1000) 2 months ago and was satisfied. Problem was i work in dessert area and my phone unable to use 4G band. After many research i found that this nokia 6 doesn't support other 4G bands except china country coz its chinese variant. so my question is does Nokia 8 have many variants too? If yes then can you all guide me? i as am planning to buy nokia 8 and dont want to end up having same 4G band problem like nokia 6.

I have the TA-1004 version. It works in Southeastern Europe with the 1800MHz LTE frequency my phone provider has, also tried it and it works on the 2600 4G frequency from another local provider.
These 2 are confirmed, but there's also the specifications info that the local seller has on the website, which includes all these band frequencies for 4g: 700 / 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600
So I'm guessing TA-1004 should work with all of the above.

how do you check LTE frequency? is there any software to check? as i want to know in dessert (which i am working) which frequency of LTE working here.

Go to your phone carrier's website and check what band frequencies it has for LTE/4G. Or a google search. That's what I did.

Does band 66 is really supported on P30 Pro VOG-L04?

Need help figuring this one out. I just got last week while visiting Illinois a P30 Pro L04 that is from Telcel Mexico. Got it from a coworker that lives in Mexico. It is unlocked and I am using in T-mobile ever since. I live in Puerto Rico where Tmobile has Band 4-66-71 for LTE. My previous phone is an Note 9 that I love and still think is better in some ways that the P30 specially in the software side. The cameras in the P30 are spectacular and step way above the Note 9. Long story short my P30 won't connect to band 66, only band 4. It is supposedly supported but it doesn't connect to it. I put my sim card back in the Note 9 and it does connect to band 66 as it used to. So it is definitively the P30 Pro problem. Does anyone know a way to verify what Bands are supported on the phone and see if it Telcel that blocked the band 66. Or maybe the P30 does NOT support band 66 as claimed? Does anyone has a L04 and can connect to band 66? I am new to Huawei phones and don't know what tool are available to verify this things.

I think you might be seeing 66 on your note, but it still really 4. (4 is a sub frequency of 66)
The 66 you're referring to will specify AWS-3. An app like network cell info on the play store should specify - though will likely only work on the Note assuming it's the snapdragon variant.

Do you care to elaborate a little more so I can fully understand. Yes my note 9 is the snapdragon variant from Tmobile. I am using the Network Cell Info Lite App and it does show connections to LTE bands 2, 4, 66 and 71 on the note. depending on the place I am around my apt or outside. The P30 Pro only show connections to LTE bands 2 and 4 connections. I understand that bands 66 and 4 are related as they are the same frequencies , but still band 66 should give me better speeds and better connection as shall be not as congested., more blocks, etc. The Network Cell Info (at least the lite version) does not give me anything about the AWS of the band.
So my questions for you or anyone else are:
Are you saying that band 66 won't show on the P30 Pro even if it is connected to it?
Do you know of an engineering menu to really verify that the phone support band 66?
One of my main interest and one that may help a lot of people is to establish if the phone really support band 66 as claimed for this variant?
and if it does, does Telcel disable that support?
if they did, maybe with a generic firmware modem we can get it back?

I do not currently have a P30 Pro, so can't speak definitively. (Sold my L29 and have an L04 on the way) I asked about the snapdragon variant because these devices are generally the only that will properly break out band information for you to look at.
The answer to your question is a bit convoluted due to the fact that band 66 includes band 4. These are the AWS bands - band 2 is PCS, 3 DCS, etc. Some devices may tell you that you're connected to 66, but you are in fact connected to 4. (see here for a better definition: https://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=570 ) If you look closely here, you will see that band 4 and 66 include the same frequencies, but 4 is specific to blocks A-F and 66 includes blocks A-J. Say, you're connected to block C, your phone could be telling you that you're connected to 4 or 66 - both would be correct, its just how the manufacturer has told the software to relay this information.
What you're wanting to validate is that you're connected to the "new/faster" part of band 66, which will be displayed as AWS3 for AT&T. On the RAW tab within network cell information (on your note) it should have the band info and then corresponding block information. If your Note is reading 66 (AWS13) this will probably show as band 4 on your P30 Pro, as it is technically .. band 4. If you are seeing 66 (AWS3) this means you are genuinely connected to the part of 66 you're after. If you see this on your Note and your P30 Pro is still showing band 4, I would suspect that your theory regarding P30 Pro band 66 support is correct. (aka.. not functioning)

Yes it helps a ton. I had to buy the full version of the Network Cell info to get the AWS information, not showing the Lite version.

For sure. I also bought the L04 variant for B66, so I'm hopeful that this band is indeed active. I will let you know what I find out.
Let me know if you run across AWS3 to validate too.

My only thoughts are that the device only activates b66 once properly provisioned by Telus on their networks, or that AT&T will only tell certain devices to grab the band that they know have proper hardware for. (Internal database of devices, etc) I'm genuinely curious if any Tmobile people are able to pickup the band; generally Tmobile is more lax about these requirements.
Either way, b66 isn't supported on AT&T on my particular L04.

At least in different place in Puerto Rico it is the same, only band 4. I shall be in Chicago area also probably in like a month and in Mexico. Will take my note 9 with me to make sure I am in AWS 3 to see if I get band 66. if not then something is right with the phones having band 66 blocked.
