[Q] nandroid backup with recovery 3e

Is it possible to create a nandroid backup with a rooted device having a 3e recovery?
I would like to backup my ROM before I try to flash a different ROM or recovery on it.
I have seen links to a nice script: online nandroid backup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620255) but unfortunately it seems, it too requires a CWM recovery.
Thanks,
Well, turns out it does support recovery 3e after sending emails to the creator who also solved some bug causing it not to work.
Thanks to Ameer Dawood. I haven't actually tried to restore the backup (for that I have to get the CWM recovery). but it does make the backup now.

Hi can i flash by odin a custom kernel with custom recovery for restore my android 4.4 without flashing stock rom then root, flash cwm and so on?
You can flash philz kernel. It has cwm. But I am it sure if you can restore a 4.4 backup with it. May be you can. But if it fails, you can install raw kernel as you will have cwm.
what 4.4 recovery was the backup made with? if made with twrp you will need twrp recovery so flash omni rom then restore backup.
if cwm backup then you will need cwm recovery with selinux support like raw r4
are you unable to boot to recovery and only get download mode if so you will start with philz kernel with odin
Yes im unable to load recovery i must flash by odin a tar.md5 kernel? Am i right?
Yes try that. Also try to remove the battery for 10 seconds. Remove the USB cable. Then reseat the battery and try to boot into recovery

Rooted stock firmware won't run custom recovery?

Hello,
I've been running stock rooted 4.1.2 for a while but my phone randomly reformatted itself last night so now I'm going to keep regular backups of my Rom.
I tried to boot into. CWM Recovery but I keep getting the stock recovery.. if I use Rom manager and flash CWM followed by an automated "reboot into recovery" then it boots into CWM but until I reflash CWM within Rom manager I can only get stock.
I want to try a few roms out so I'd like to "permanently" flash a custom recovery before making a backup!

Click to collapse
try philz touch, it has a function to remove the auto-flash stock recovery. Otherwise there's a method in the general root thread if you want cwm.

[Q] Qus about the new TWRP

I want to flash the new TWRP recovery using CWM (Clockworkmod Rec), but i have a backup file (stock rom) from my CWM,
My question is:
IF i want to get back to stock how can i replace the new TWRP with CWM and restore my stock ROM ?
OR is it possible to restore CWM backup file with TWRP ?
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
Its not possible to restore CWM recovery backup under TWRP recovery
Make a new backup after flashing TWRP recovery
Another option is return to CWM recovery and after that restoring your stock rom CWM backup
