Just purchased a SM-N950U, got it registered on Sprint, but cannot get mobile data to work. I can place and receive voice calls with no issue?
Under APN's I have cinet.spcs & otasn but when I access Network operators and search networks.. I cant select Sprint.
Thoughts?

kinda sounds like what happened to me. I got my N950U in Oct 02 from preorder, the whole first day I couldnt get it to connect to SPRINT network, voice or data. There was sketchy stuff happening, sprint c.s. couldnt figure it out (even when into a corp store) and samsung c.s. kept blaming sprint. Randomly the phone provisioned itself finally and it refreshed its APN list, now defaulting on "APN2 LTE internet" - n.ispsn.
Have you gone to the samsung website and tried activating through your account page? If they shipped you a sim card that may be you fix. or let the phone randomly refresh itself and hope it self cures... My samsung page still doesnt give me the option to activate through them, i went directly through sprint.
Sorry i couldnt help much, just wanted to give some insight. good luck!

##72786# hit yes and let it re-activate
##update# will update prl, profile and check for software / firmware.

AT&T APN Settings for LTE

Anyone else on AT&T unable to get LTE? The APN settings that auto-downloaded are correct according to AT&T's documentation, but I'm only getting H+.
Your GPRS could be disconnected. I'd you use app advanced signal status you can look at settings Beyer to see if your set up correctly
MasterBrick SCH-I545 Galaxy S4, XdA mobile app...
I had to use my girlfriends IMEI for her Nexus 5 for it to pick up LTE. Before that, I was only getting H+. Try to get an IMEI of another ATT LTE Android phone and it should do the trick!
Can't get LTE to work
I need some help. I have the new, unlocked, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and I can't get on the AT&T LTE network as well. Here are the steps I have taken:
The Setup
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 that is on the LTE network with no problem
My AT&T account had a Lumia 820 device tied to my account (and old device of mine) and it worked fine for LTE on all of my future pones, including my S4
I purchased an unlocked D5803 Z3c from Handtec
My Activate Attempt
Went to the AT&T store to pick up a new nano sim card
I gave my new (Sony) IMEI number to the AT&T rep (stupid move, clearly) and they loaded it under my account
With the new sim, my Z3c could place calls and send/receive text messages
Data would not work
My Resolution Steps
I looked up APN settings online and tried several different variations
The HSPA+ Cingular APN settings worked, but left me without LTE service
I could not get the mobile.att.net APN and LTE settings to work
Reading Android Central and XDA, I discovered that others had this issue as well
Using forum advice, I called AT&T
The AT&T rep did confirm that my Sony IMEI number was registering as a "2G" phone, which is why I did not get LTE access
I put one of my extra LTE device IMEI numbers on my account
My phone still won't connect to the LTE network
I notice that even though they registered an LTE phone (and they confirmed it came up LTE), my AT&T account page shows an old flip phone silhouette
The rep noted that there was nothing else they can do...so I basically have to deal with it
I'm posting on XDA to leverage the wisdom of this crowd
I remain confident that this will get resolved, yet frustrated at the same time
I'm at a loss and wonder if I have to activate this nano sim in another supporting device or the like. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance for your help.
No clue, but AT&T tech support confirmed that my IMEI is registered and my previous two devices were all LTE devices. I have no idea what's going on either.

Are you having the same issue? Do you see the cartoon sketch of a flip phone in your account as well?
What you have to do is give them the imei of an LTE capable phone. It absolutely does not matter that you will not actually be using that phone.
If you already have an LTE phone, just switch your SIM to your z3 when it arrives. It is absolutely unnecessary to call AT&T with your new IMEI. Anything AT&T tells you to the contrary is flat out wrong.
Issue resolved!
Bottom line...do not give these clowns your Xperia IMEI number.
When they entered the IMEI number it flipped my data plan from a grandfathered unlimited plan to a pay-per-use plan with no LTE (why they couldn't figures this out last night, it beats me). He was talking about my wife's plan and her unlimited data. I then noted "mine is unlimited too" and then said it wasn't. You can only imagine how things went from there.
The unrecognized IMEI number automatically switched me off of my plan.
They have me on a temporary 3GB plan, as the support rep couldn't get me back on the unlimited plan. They have to send the change to their back office team and it will take a week to get it back.
My phone now has the 4G icon versus H+.

Nope, it actually still shows my previous LTE-capable phone.
I actually also initially had this issue ; I was sitting in the AT&T &T store on the phone with tech support until the sales rep realized my phone wasn't showing up in the system as an LTE device. He input a bogus LTE IMEI for me, after which I restarted my phone. It's been working for me since then
Whelp, I guess I'll go to the AT&T store again later, then.
So everything that is claiming to have LTE ----> Do you have a 4G icon on your phone or LTE? I am in US, went to ATT store ---they entered an imei of a Samsung Galaxy S5 and now it shows 4G. If you go into mobile networks preferred network mode it says 4G preferred/wcdma/gsm. I am assuming this is just due to the UK software version not being the same as US...

Says 4G. I think we are good

IMEI problem rectified, they reverted it to my previous phone's IMEI. Now displaying 4G. Sweeeeeetness.
It's just silly that AT&Ts LTE is tied to the IMEI in their system and not simply having an LTE capable phone.
I ported a line to use with my Z3c and gave them the IMEI of an AT&T HTC One so that LTE would work, but they would only send me a micro sim because according to the IMEI that's the sim I need. Tried to tell them I need a nano sim but the gal on the phone said she couldn't send one, I'd have to go to a store pick one up.
If you are going from an LTE phone that uses a nano SIM card to the Sony Xperia Z3 compact, it is not necessary to contact AT&T. You will need to manually add the APN settings on your Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Here is the path to get to the APN settings..
Settings > More > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > press + to add a new APN
Enter in the following settings listed below
Name ATT Phone
APN phone
Proxy Not set
Port Not set
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication Type None
APN type default,mms,supl,hipri
APN protocol IPv4
Bearer Unspecified
Save the changes you made, select the APN you just created and reboot the phone. Everything should be working from there.
Here is where I got the information from: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB424489&cv=820&_requestid=838329#fbid=ecLfo9YLvXa
So I do have the 4g icon in my status bar. Does this mean that LTE is working fine?
The only reason I am asking is because on the MY ATT page I do only see the silhouette of a flip phone.
Edit: My phone automatically downloaded internet and MMS settings when I first booted it up. Is this what others are doing?

Yes, you are getting LTE on your phone
LTE = 4G in Europe
4G = H+ in Europe
3G
etc
If you do a speed test, you will see that you are getting LTE speeds on your phone
Problem here too. I just went in to get a nano sim. The guy hooked up my number from a note 2. Does not show data. He said I needed to put in my IMEI number from the box. I didn't from recommendations on here. The problem is that I didnt have a rebutle sp? Because I really don't know how it works. He said if my note 2 was lte, it should work. I don't know what the heck to do

I would try again, maybe try to get a different service rep. The IMEI from an AT&T Note 2 should work.

[Q] T-mobile 2014 Moto X in London International texting & data won't work

I have a Moto X pure edition on t-mobile simple choice plan. I'm in London and have not received any texts or emails notifying me that I am abroad and can now use t-mobiles free texting and data or paid plans. I tried a few things, rebooting, reset APN settings and changing apn settings to ipv4 and using epc.tmobile.com as the address. Nothing so far. I can look up the networks and see T-mobile but can't register. My phone's clock also didn't change, had to do it manually.
Need help. I'll try and call t-mobile soon.
This is from my memory with a Nexus 4, but should be the same basic idea. Try going into Settings, Networks, Cellular Networks, let it load then select T-Mobile's local partner. Might take some trial and error to get the right one if there are multiple local carriers around, but shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.
Tried that already on the phone with the T-mobile rep. none of it worked always the same error "This connection is not available at this time. Please try again later."
Not sure if this will help, but you do have roaming enabled right? I remember with my Nexus 4, when I traveled internationally, I had to enable roaming for my texts and data to work.

I had the same problem while travelling to the Caribbean. I tried all the settings (even dialed #766 to enable Data Roaming). I never got it to work even after opening tickets with T-Mobile. I always had Cell service to make calls , but there was an exclamation on the bar(s) icon indicating there was an issue with data.
Hopefully you can get it working.
I haven't had ANY service at all. No texting no voice call no data. Nothing. Phone shows that there's emergency calls only. Was working fine at home and in DC. I have cellular data on and roaming and have tried messing the the APN settings some. Didn't work so I reset to default.

[Q] T-Mobile N6 on Verizon - LTE not working

Hey guys,
I bought a Nexus 6 two months ago while I was on T-Mobile. I got fed up with T-Mobile service (constantly dropping calls, not receiving all text messages, etc) and decided to switch to Verizon. I took my phone to Verizon last night, they scanned it and gave me a nano SIM. I was surprised how easy it was, given the headaches others have seemed to endure trying to get a Verizon SIM. Everything seemed to work on Verizon's end, according to the person who helped me.
The problem is, I can't get LTE to work with voice/text. If I go to Settings -> More -> Cellular Networks -> Preferred Network Type, I have 3 options to choose from: Global, LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS. If I select LTE/GSM/UMTS, I get LTE data, but I can't send/receive calls or texts. If I select Global or LTE/CDMA, I can send/receive calls and texts but I only get 3g data. If I go to Phone Info (*#*#4636#*#*) and set network type to LTE Only, the same thing happens...LTE data only, but no calls/texts.
This is about the limit of my ability to troubleshoot problems. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Did you properly configure the APN settings for Verizon? Your problem may be with that. Do a Google search for Verizon APN settings for Nexus 6...your answer may lie there.
most people have to factory reset their phones when going from another carrier to verizon, to get lte to work properly.

There were about 50 APNs when I checked. I deleted all of them and created a new one based on the following:
Name: Verizon
APN: vzwinternet
MMSC: mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms (with http, but won't let me post when typed out)
MMS port: 80
APN type: default,supl,mms
Everything else was left default. Restarted my phone. I am still only getting 3g on Global and LTE/CDMA, still can't make calls with LTE/GSM/UMTS.

I did a factory data reset this morning.
There are at least 5 - and as much as 10 - APN setting setups for Verizon. You may have to try them all. I put a Verizon Sim in my N6 and they all showed up in the list of APNs. When you deleted them you may have deleted the one most compatible with the N6. You may have to reset, put back in the Verizon Sim, and hope they all repopulate the APN section. If not, you'll have to search for them all and try each setup.
I can reset the default APNs and they will all show up again...without having to factory reset.
Do I need to reset the phone without the Verizon SIM inserted? I left the SIM inside when I reset this morning. I only ask because you mentioned resetting the phone and then re-inserting the Verizon SIM.
Thanks for your help.
I generally remove Sims and SD cards (not applicable here) when doing a reset as my line of precaution. Since you are able to restore the default APNs, do so, and try each one till you get the proper one.
Tmobile has their own software version/radio pushed out to Nexus 6's. You can try loading the Verizon software version/radio and see if it works.
Try this one: http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/nexus-6/shamu/vzw/

I found the problem. When the Verizon rep installed the sim, she immediately dialed *228. After googling LTE problems, I've found out that *228 on a LTE phone is a very bad thing. I got a new SIM and everything is now working.
Thanks again!

Cannot Receive Mobile Data with New Vodafone SIM Card - APN Grayed Out / Locked

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my current predicament. What do I need to do in order to edit the APN settings so that my phone can receive mobile data?
I had recently moved from the United States to the Netherlands. In moving, I took my Samsung Galaxy S8 (Model No. SM-G950U) with me because Verizon Wireless, my old carrier, had said my phone was unlocked and could be used with any other carrier worldwide. In arriving to the Netherlands, I promptly switched my Verizon SIM with a Vodafone one. Everything worked fine except my phone did not receive mobile data. In speaking with a Vodafone rep face-to-face, they said it's because under APN, only 'Verizon Internet' is shown. They pointed out that no new APNs could be added since the option was grayed out / locked. They also said this is why I have a constant message on my phone saying, "Activation Incomplete. Your phone will try again when you restart." Until the APN issue was resolved, the Vodafone rep said my phone would not receive mobile data.
Later that day, I called Verizon three times and each rep said Verizon did not do anything to lock the APN settings and that I would need to call Samsung for support ... I knew it was a waste of time but I called Samsung anyhow. In my brief conversation with them, they said Verizon had to fix the issue ...
At this point, I'm out of options. Has anyone run into a similar issue? If so, what do you recommend to resolve this?
So everyone is aware, I factory re-setted my phone and it did not resolve any of the issues.

Question Data not connecting on ATT since "3G switchoff"

So on Monday ATT decided to deactivate my sim card because they believe my phone is incompatible with their network now. All my bars went to 0 with an x on it and I couldn't do anything on the phone. I went to an ATT store, got them to give me a new activated sim and I put it in my phone and all my bars came back.
My phone says VoLTE again too by the signal bar area. I also tested a text and it went through fine. I received a phone call and while it works fine, it sounds like junk now. Like it is no longer actually using VoLTE like it always has. My phone doesnt seem to have any data however, when it should have LTE just fine. I also cannot make any calls, even though it says VoLTE on the phone, it just re-routes to ATT customer service instead of going through with the call.
When I go into the network area in settings it says no IP address either. I looked and my APN is set to nxtgenphone, Preferred Network Type selected on LTE. Before ATT deactivated my sim card LTE has always worked fine, and LTE should still work fine. It is only the 3G network being shut down. Also given the fact I have the VoLTE icon the phone is apparently connecting somewhat to an LTE network.
So does anyone know how to fix settings to get data working again? Is it just an APN that needs to change? What is everyone else doing with the network shutdown and has anyone else had issues like this?
I had the exact same issue, your issue is in fact APN settings I'm having them as well. Try deleting your current APN and putting in a new one. Once I got a new sim my APN reset I could call but no data and no text. I have half of the APN information in place and have data and basic text, but once I input the MMS port the APN data disappears still trying to figure that out. Not sure if anything I typed is helpful but at least you know your not alone with a mi11 on ATT and it can work

Thanks for the reply. I tried deleting the MMS port and also the proxy just now and data didnt come back. I will try searching around for more APN info for how phones are supposed to connect now and see if I can find anything.
It looks like from what I could find that it is due to an IMEI whitelist ATT has, blocking data connection on any device not in their whitelist. The solution seems to be to root the phone and change your IMEI to a whitelisted model.
While my phone is rooted my IMEI is not cloned I definitely would not share my IMEI with ATT. When I got my sim card yesterday I had the attendant activate but I did not provide my phone so he did not get the IMEI from my phone. If you got a sim and they input your IMEI that could be a problem possibly. Just a suggestion to try and get a sim activated at a store without your phone.
I had also heard that most ATT MVNOs were not having the device whitelist forced on them yet, so I went and tried 2 different ones yesterday. Both failed to get the phone working on their network with their sims.
Before I went through the hassle of rooting (and most likely losing payments) I tried ATT again anyway. I used their online customer service chat and the first person I chatted with said he could help me with the lte data problem and the IMEI issue. I was skeptical, but he actually did fix it all up. He just needed my sim ICCID and my phones IMEI1 and he submitted the info to their backend people for adding to their system. It took almost an hour and a half for it to get added, but overall it was a pretty painless process and I was browing the web most of the time while waiting in chat. I now have LTE data again, VoLTE again, and "5G" too (which ATT 5G is really just one or two more features than normal LTE and is no faster in speed and uses LTE data bands). I attached a screenshot showing the data and VoLTE working on my phone. The first signal is ATT, the second is TMobile (which has always worked and never had an issue, their 3G network shutdown is going on for another 4-5 months)

Happy you are back up and running and I'm glad that you found someone at ATT to do the fairly easy work of getting your IMEI cleared. Lots of people have been worried about devices not working on ATT because of this whitelist issue glad to see there are workarounds just wish ATT didn't make it so convoluted.
