Remote NDIS / USB Tethering Speed USB 3.1 - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

Hello,
The XZ1 has a USB 3.1 C Connector right? Therefore it is capable of 5 Gbit/s (or 10?).
Within Windows 10 the tethered connection (Remote NDIS Compatible Device) is shown as a 425,9 Mbit/s Connection (Connected to a USB 3.0 ). Thats the same speed I am getting from a USB 2.0 Device.
Did I do or understand something wrong?
Thank you!

HTC Advantage 4 - 1 Cable, Not Working??

Hiya,
I just got my cable from expansys, the vga and s-video out is working fine, but i haven't got any thing usb to work yet. I've tried flash Drives and a card reader, just no response, no light or any thing... is there a trick to it or is it not very compatable or is there a chance mine is faulty?
cheers
My guess is that although it is a Host, it does not supply any power, I say this because the battery is only 3.7 V DC and USB devices are 5 V DC, this means that there is not enough Volts in the advantage to power a USB device to start with, never mind powering a USB device and an Advantage at the same time.
You will probably need to plug it into a USB hub that supplies it's own power, like this one
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-2-0-4-Por...106823769QQcategoryZ96866QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I had the same problem but it was because the TV out was still on. Once I turned this off in the settings menu it worked fine.
I too had no trouble hooking up a flash drive. No other peripherals were attached to the cable. Alas, no go on a hard-drive MP3 player, but trying a powered hub is a good idea.
Have you tried connecting your USB device, and then soft resetting?
Works for me.
I have no detection of USB devices by my Advantage.
I tried with and withour Soft Reset before and after the cable connection, before and after the cable and flash drive connection, with or without the VGA or Video Output disabled or enabled, but my Advantage does not recognize any USB device (I tried with 2 flash drive, a keyborad and an optical mouse. Nothing to do. These devices do not work with my Advantage).
It seems that the relative drivers are missing.
Someone has a sure fix or solution to this problem ??
Thanks
Battery Powered USB Hub...
This device should work well with the x7500/Advantage. It doesn't require you to carry around a bulky power plug. It runs off of 4 AAA batteries and provides power for up to 4 USB devices. Since the x7500/Advantage has limited power and can't power external drives itself, this is a nice addition and cheap. Hope someone finds it useful.

I have the Dopod U1000. I have connected a thumb drive and a USB mouse without issue. The mouse is useless as far as I can tell as there is no pointer though the buttons work.
I have no problems with a T-Mobile Ameo and a 1Gb Corsair USB Flashdrive - don't even need a soft reset. It's listed as 'Hard Disk' on the Ameo.
Question though: can I just unplug it when done? I'm used to 'safely removing hardware' on the PC, and it just feels wrong unplugging it from the Ameo, but I can't see any similar 'safely remove' method.
Hi.
It depends of the usb device. My 1GB pen drive is recognized but my 4GB isnt recognized (my 160 GB isnt). So I suppose If the usb device isnt powered then only "very low powered" devices are recognized...
If I connect my 160 GB and I plug it to AC then It is recognized correctly...
Does mini usb-usb host cable exist? Where to buy it?

seems to be what I'm looking for...don't you?

Search the forum for the Modaco Mouse driver. It has a mouse pointer and works flawlessly with a USB Mouse!

Hi,
I have the HTC 4 in 1 cable for the T-Mobile Ameo (HTC Advantage 7500) and the ability to access a USB thumbdrive or stick appears to depend on the device.
The following devices worked without a hitch:
- Kingston DataTraveler 1GB
- Q motion 1 GB
- SanDisk MobileMate SD+ (This a SD card reader in a USB stick format, very handy to copy data from a SD/miniSD/microSD card to your 7500 without going through Activesync)
Another noname USB stick that I had did not work.
So the trick is to find a low powered USB stick.
Cheers,
Tim
Please can someone give me some exaples about how could I use
Video/S-Video/ option in 4 in 1 cable, considering that I can image how to properly use VGA out and USB host?
THX so much!
Hi,
before I buy it, could it work?
USB 2.0 (compatible 1.x)
Adapter USB from Type A (female) to mini USB 5pin (male)
THX so much!

Yes, that should work for you. I'm sure it's not more than $5.00 USD. ;-)

Are you hoping to connect USB accessories to your Athena with this?
If so, it will not work.
Only the 4 in 1 Host cable connected to the ext USB socket will do that.
This adaptor will only connect to the Sync & Charge socket, and will not provide USB Host capabilities.

So it will not provide me host function...?
Than the HTC cable should have something like a "chip" in it to provide host, is it right?
Yes, the USB Host chip must be either in the addon cable, or linked to the extUSB socket in the Athena. But definitely not the sync & charge socket.

Charging at very low speed on windows?

Dear tech maniacs,
I would like to pose a simple question: why original USB data cable charges far too slow my Nexus 6 when connected to a PC (USB 2.0) running windows 10? It charges at around 80 mAh.... (a catastrophe...) Does this appear because of USB malfunction, motherboard's inability, data cable flaw, or wrong windows/android setting? (So many things to blame...)
I am running official windows 10 with all latest patches on it and stock marshmallow
It's normal. USB Ports doesn't provide much Amps = it's gonna be slow

Mi 5 - USB type C speed: USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?

As the title suggest I am curious if anyone has some evidence of the USB protocol supported by the USB C port.
In the MIUI forums some say 2.0 and some 3.0 and I am not sure if I have a good way to accurately measure that with MTP type of connections.
Based on the following thread over at the MIUI forums, it's USB 2.0.

How can I use USB ethernet adapter?

Hello,
I am using China Stable MIUI 9.
Is there any way to use a USB Ethernet Adapter with the Mi Max 2?
Is there any ROM that would support it?
To use the plugable adapter, I think it requires driver support for ASIX AX88179 chipset -- nobody in the Xiaomi forum could tell me whether it did, so I'd like to know. too. I'm also trying to find out whether the displaylink software enables connection to a displaylink equipped monitor, since it lacks MHL. There's definitely a software solution, or I wouldn't be able to get display out with usb screencasting apps (unfortunately, the only ones that work properly require a log in and monthly subscription -- I'd be glad to buy an app, not one I can't use without being online).
Yes, the kernel must definitely have the driver included for the USB ethernet adapter chipset.
Is there any ROM/kernel that supports it?
did you manage?

Hi, one and a half year after you, I'm facing the same problem. Did you find the solution?
No. My conclusion is that AFAIK there are none.
I'm not a Linux expert, but I think the kernel should have drivers for whatever Adapter (chipset) you use. I use TP-LINK USB to gigabit adapter with USB C OTG adapter and it works in MI Max 2. But my USB C to gigabit ethernet Belkin adapter doesn't work with MI Max 2. In the hw diagnostics menu the Belkin adapter gets detected as OTG, but looks like the chipset drivers are not there in the kernel.
Could you please help us by giving us links to the adapters that work with your Mi Max 2?
And please also give us the exact MIUI or alternate ROM version, Android version, and kernel version you got them running on?
You're right ~ the drivers are mainly in the kernel, but to keep the kernel lean, the manufacturers remove drivers they think are not needed.
I'm very frustrated with that, too.
Did you find the solution? Im also interested in ethernet connectivity on my Mi max 2
I haven't actually tried it yet, but from my research it could be the TP-Link UE300 adapter that is working. Even in its description it claims compatibility with Android (but you also need an adapter USB - A female to USB - C male).
Please let us know if you succeed.
I have found that all USB Ethernet GB adapters that are compatible with the Nintendo switch (f. e. several ugreen or baseus models) are working with Smartphones that contain a relatively modern Qualcomm SoC (at least 2 years, maybe even 3+ years old).
Reason is that these adapters are powered by an Asix chip, whereas the Realtek chips in many USB to Ethernet adapters do not have the driver in the Android / Linux kernel present by default.
Adapters with Asix chip are just plug and go. Do it in airplane mode and then after a minute you will have internet connectivity. You won't get an icon in the status bar like the Wi-Fi icon, it will just work unannounced. Much faster and more reliable internet connection than Wi-Fi and no radiation - just the same speed as if you plug an ethernet cable into a computer. Play store works like that too. Tested with Xiaomi Mi Max 2 & 3, RN9s, R5+ on standard global Roms and other models from different manufacturers.
Disadvantage: They use a good amount of battery juice, around 120-200mA. You also cannot extend the USB cable too much, maybe 30-40 cm is okay, otherwise the adapter will stop working.
please have a link of those adapters?

The 10 Ultra has no output on usb to hdmi connector. I tried it as I wondered after coming from a p40proplus which had a desk top mode. I imagine the 11 will be the same as it promotes the desktop app to share it's display like the 10.
You mean in wireless mode?
Yes,USB 2.0
It is still USB 2.0
Such a shame. Imagine transferring 500 GB of data with 30 MB/s rate.
usb 2.0, hahahha~It doesn't deserve to be called “安卓之光”
It's really disgraceful to use the best CPU money can buy , best ram, fastest ufs storage , best display , best charger and then go cheap on something like a USB 2.0 port.....
Someone who thought this was a good idea should be fired....
Yeah, i really don't understand why they put an usb 2.0 port. For a 2021 premium phone it's a nonsense.

I have not received my Mi 11 Ultra yet, but I believe it should work when using a Displaylink USB to HDMI Adapter and installing the Displaylink App on the phone. With USB 2.0 it should work fine for resolutions up to Full HD.
The USB Type-C Specification states that it must support at least the following standards, otherwise a Type-C connector cannot be used:
• USB 2.0 Specification
• USB 3.1 Specification
• USB Power Delivery Specification, Revision 2.0 (3.0)
• USB Billboard Device Class Specification, Revision 1.2
• USB Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.2

I already tried it.
I had to power the USB C adapter then I plugged the Displaylink adapter to the USB C adapter.
It would not work without power.

Usb 2.0 was released in April 2000 and some clown at Xiaomi thought they should still use it in their ultra flagship 2021 phone ....
Words fail me...
I thought Xiaomi devices are 2.1 not 2.0

I use this
CableCreation USB HDMI Adapter(DisplayLink Chip), USB 3.0 to HDMI External Display Graphics Adapter Compatible with Windows 10/8.1/8/7, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DX33L5...abc_D4RSEZX9P70E6V3KSFR4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You need any USB C hub with a USB B A 3.0 hub and PD pass through.
Something like this
USB C Hub - TISOFU USB C Adapter with 4K HDMI USB3.0 SD/TF Card Reader 100W PD, 7 in 1 Type C Adapter Compatible for MacBook Pro, USB C Laptops Nintendo, Type C Devices(Gray) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099WTZGM...abc_R2F1P2X1274TN188EYAV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Then you need to give the hub power and then plug the displaylink adapter and the HDMI from displaylink to your video out device
Open the displaylink app on your phone and then plug your phone in.
Give it a few seconds if it didn't detect replug the USB C hub.
It's a messy dangle of wires but it works
