From last 2 nights....i got 3 percent standby drain when I put my phn alone for 6 to 7 hrs with wifi on

Same here 3 percent over 8 hours at night. Seems like they fixed the drain problem of Wifi in comparison to Op5

Yes you are right
3 percent is almost negligible

10hrs standby with WiFi on, 4% (went from 97 to 93.) Pretty good I'd say.

3% as well no wifi

My device is draining battery little faster when using normally and on standby it is draining nearly 2% per minute while on 3g+ mode . Is it normal.. ?

Absolutely not, I would prob do a clean flash again or something is killing ur battery, ur phone must be on fire draining 2% in one minute, I get about 1% per 6 min using Chrome and about 4 or 5 min using facebook

I have data off, location on, wifi on

Sorry guys .. It was a typo.. I meant hour. When I leave mobile internet on during standby I get 2% drain per hour when switched off drain is 1% per 2 hours. Location is off whole time.
So a H+ network drain battery faster compared to a WiFi ?

Location set to data saving, 4G data remains switched on as well along with WiFi

5% without wifi and data...I hope Oreo fix this...

how about when u guys use it until the end of the day while the phone screen is constantly turned on and off? 6h+ seems to be the average for sot but I haven't seen anyone post their idle times yet except for when it's during an overnight sleep

My friend has a 3t and his standby his pretty bad. He is on Oreo though....Does anyone else get a huge battery drain on their 5t?

My battery is draining as quick in standby mode as it is when I'm using it! I'm losing about 3.5% /hr over night. That is really my only complaint.
I'm leaving everything on. WiFi/data/ location/ Bluetooth.. shouldn't have to switch it off tbh.

If you live in an area that doesn't receive particularly great cell service, leave data and location off on your 5T. When your phone has to constantly search for a good cellular connection, it will eat power like a New Yorker eats a hamburger at a baseball game. And if a sub-optimal cellular connection in your area is the case, then 3% per hour isn't half bad...my Droid Turbo 2 would drain 11% in the same timeframe.
If this isn't the issue, then check the power consumption of the individual apps you have on your phone to filter out problem apps that may be draining your battery rapidly. If neither of these methods work, you may have to resort to factory resetting your phone, or RMAing if nothing fixes the issue.

So, I've narrowed it down to being a WiFi related issue. Something is running when WiFi is on which is preventing the phone from going into deep sleep properly (if at all).
When I switch WiFi off overnight, and leave everything else on (data/BT/NFC) then my drain goes from 3-4% / HR to around 3-4 % in 8 hours.
Can't figure out beyond that yet though.

Battery drain when idle?

What type of drain are people getting while phone is not in use?
Last night I dropped from 64% to 54% in 9 hours, despite the fact that better battery stats showed 97% deep sleep for the time period. Seems bad to me. On lots of other phones, overnight drain is in the 2 - 5% range.
Yes, active notifications are disabled while I sleep. I don't even have touchless control set up yet, so it can't be that. I have the same few location services turned on that I always do, and like I said, I usually see 2-5% overnight on other phones, not 10%.
Anybody else?
PS for those of you who want to say who cares, I did this test because I was noticing faster than usual idle drain during the day, too, but sleeping is the best time to get a long chuck of idle time.
Edit: could it be because the phone always has those sensors on waiting to to see if the phone moves to light up the time? Or the double twist for camera sensor always being on?

Get "Better battery stats" or a similar app to see what is running during idle. But to be fair that is just over 1% an hour.....that is not awful whatsoever. The only way you could get any better would be to disable any wifi/data, and those location services.....OR just turn the phone off completely. I've had phones that have had way higher drain on idle than 1.5%.

[Q] Xperia z battery draining

Hellow I'm a happy owner of the xperia z for 10 days, but I'm facing fast battery drain when using the phone. When Im just browsing the phone, battery goes down 1% percent every 3~4 minutes... When gaming battery drops 2-3 % every 5 minutes. I need some help, I didnt charge the phone the first time for 8 hours, but i read it is not necessary. I'm rooted, 4.3 jb, doom kernel v21. I have deleted some of the bloatware and i don't have WiFi and data on all the time. Also media server sometimes goes up to 21% in battery usage.

That battery drainage seems normal to me. Playing games needs alot of battery. Battery usage depends on several things, how high is the screen brightness etc.. To your media server: are you listening to music with your phone? Or watching videos? All this is done by media server.

Most times i close some, and.the phone is new.
1% every 3 minutes or so is not excessive drain. If you do the calculations, then that works out to 300 minutes to fully drain the battery, or 5 hours.
As the phone is new, it will take a few charge cycles for the battery to reach full capacity anyway, so see what the battery life is doing in a week or so.

As i know is not good to totally drain the battery. For example, i was talking to the phone and had wifi on right now, and my. Battery has gone down 14% in the last thirty minutes. My on screen time is at almost 2 hours, without gaming, and my. Battery level is at 43%
Edit i set screen brightness to 35%, my battery level is 41%. Sometines phone draws 1% every 2 and half minutes.
Yes, I know you shouldn't completely drain the battery. Total screen time calculations should be based on the full capacity though, or I could say I only get 1 hour screen on because I always recharge the battery at 80%! (I don't. It's an example).
Using the phone in different ways will drain the battery faster than others. The battery usage you described in your first post is not unusually high and will probably improve after a few charge cycles.

When A 7.0 came out overnight my battery would tell me 2 days+ of battery left with only 1 or 2% drain. As the AT&T updates continued it got worst. I have recently performed a factory reset. It will only drain 8% overnight as opposed to the usual 23% I was experiencing intermittently.
Recently installed the wake-lock detector and greenify. I'll see if greenify is just a battery hog or if it will help.
I feel that my N920A really has good standby life if I don't have any background processes running. I'll lose about 3-5% battery life each night with the phone unplugged (and connected to WiFi) collecting Whatsapp updates with the screen off. My battery drain is really about background processes. I've uninstalled the applications that I no longer use, and those I no longer NEED for weekly use. My battery life was restored dramatically. My phone CAN last an entire day, but I keep my charger nearby just in case one day I'm proven wrong.
Hmm well mine 920I after about 9h went from 100 to 97.

After doing a bunch of tests on my N5, I found out that my horrific standby drain was from having bad cellular reception in my area. I have the N5 (Canadian version) which has no carrier bloatware; however, I was loosing about 15% overnight with Data and WiFi on. Obviously, WiFi takes over, but the phone still tries to scan for cellular data. When I started turning off Data at night, and using only my WiFi connection, that's when I started to loose only 4% overnight, which told me the problem was a bad signal. So I went on and changed my Data connection from automatically connecting to LTE, to automatically connecting to 4G, and my standby drain has decreased significantly.
I'll test the 4G only option, and see if that works for my N920A
My N920I drains 100% to 86% after 8 hours. what is the problem?
Tried rooting, changing kernels and still the same result. somebody please help me or give me a suggestions on the matter. Thank you

Try measuring it in airplane mode. I guess your drain is normal due to poor signal reception in your area. I'm getting very similar drain ~1.5% per hour and -0.3%/hour in airplane mode. Also I noticed my n920p receives much lower signal (15-20dbm difference) compared to my old note 2 in the same conditions.

I find the stand by drain right on par with my Note 10 Plus. It was fully charged at 7 PM last night and this morning at 6 AM was at 95%. I installed Nap Time by Francisco Franco with a couple of adb commands for the aggressive doze features.
Went to bed last night at 1am at 100% battery. No apps are running, i have a bixby routine that puts the phone into power saving mode while not in use over night. Woke up 7 hours later at 8am and the phone had gone down to 93%, so it has gone down 7% which is 1% percent every hour being lost. Looking at app usage nothing was running in the background this entire time. Had my device for 5 days now so has gone through learning stage. This is ridiculous standby drain, is anyone else having the same issue?
Yes my drain is also bad. Are you guys running Snapdragon or Exynos?
I am Exynos unfortunately.
Can any one try standby drain after installing naptime? Let us know if it helps reduce the drain.
I'm using Naptime and I think it does help with standby drain. it is in the par with note10 at around 6-7% over night.

I run it all the timed. Here's a screen of my settings, I don't disable BT on doze as I have my Note connected to my Panasonic home phone.
For me it was much worse, about 3% per hour during sleep! I just deactivated VoLTE calls (and also the 5G just in case) and it's much better all of a sudden! Can you try this, maybe it's the same problem for you?

Motion smoothness is the culprit
I have been playing around with Note 20 Ultra (T-mobile carrier locked version - SM-N986U)
I turned off 5G (Connections --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode --> Switched to LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
But even with 5G off my battery drained this morning while only have google maps open 10% in 45 minutes!
All my apps that I frequently use I have gone one by one under battery usage and selected put app to sleep.
My power mode was at optimized with so I lowered it to Medium Power saving and that looks like it took care of it.
If I go back to Optimized but keep motion smoothness at standard then the phone seems to handle battery usage much better (this is all with sync on for email push).
It much more on par with my previous Razer Phone and closer to iPhone XR territory.

My mistake on this. My Always On Display is set to tap to wake only.
However to get best battery life possible with Always On Display set to be on full-time, turn off auto brightness, then you can manually set the brightness down the lowest setting.
That might get you down to 0.75% per hour, but I haven't tested that myself on this phone. However with my S10+ I did that and it helped a lot. Only downfall is you can't see Always On Display in bright sunlight. However indoors is usually still visible.
Got the phone (n20u exynos) yesterday at around 7:45 pm. It had 64 percent battery. Did the phone setup, sync and played around with dex. The phone got warm. Went to sleep at around 11:30 and the battery lasted me till today morning 6:30, with 2 hours sot. Don't feel its that bad. I also think it might improve further as it is still in the learning phase.
i avg .9-1.0% a hour with screen off over night..

Snapdragon. Switch off wifi and normal powersaving mode with 5g still on.
7hrs sleep time, consumes battery 4%
I'm losing 4 % each to Google and Youtube, though the apps aren't running. I've forced them to sleep when not being used and hoping that will slow the drain. I'll have to wait a couple of days to see if that has helped.

Ne Firmware should make things even better
I would try recalibrating the battery, I have found that it lasts very long after hitting 1%, and others have also found that the phone continues charging for a bit after hitting 100% (even with the LED being green). So completely drain the phone, let it charge to 100% and when it hits 100%, give it like half an hour more.
Also, disabling 5G in the Network settings should help. If you are underground (with bad cell signal), I would suggest you enable Airplane mode and then enable Wifi. This will prevent the phone from constantly searching for a better cell signal. Doing this helped me reduce idle drain.
Last night with a few videos + today, I got a total of 3h40 at 120hz durable mode (Charge limit to 90% and the phone is still at 15% battery left).

I got it via OTA.
Also you probably need to set up other (was tired yesterday evening):
dynamic mode
5g off
90 Hz Display (I don't really see the difference between 90/120)
Wifi, BT, location always on
I get around 7 h of SOT fully charged and 5 hours brings me from bed to bed.
Yeah 5g off makes a lot of difference to me. I also use Naptime.
I see a big change with location off. Just put it on qith quick toggle when needed. The standby is much much better with just this change for me. I have 5G because my plan doesn't allow it either way.
As others said, it's about 5-6 SoT, normal use on its stock Asus Android OS.
After installing LineageOS on now I got 8+ SoT.
Due to the clean LineageOS, 60Hz screen refreah rate, battery saver always on, no google spying services installed, 100% google free,no blotware, no whatsapp no facebook...
Phone now lasts me comfortably a full day of work (sometimes day and half).
I use it for work not as my playstation.
I'm super happy.
