Couple of questions about P9 Dual-Sim (EVA-L19)[Huawei or DC unlocker/Magisk/Xposed] - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

My current phone is LG G4 and in case of this phone it was easy to find all tutorials and do everything in just a few minutes, in case of P9 the task is harder since 'tutorials' are all over the place, so I've decided to make a forum post about it and ask you guys few questions, I'll grab the phone in question later today or tommorow (Issues at provider's end, so I have to wait till they fix it), so I'm gathering all the information and tutorials so I'll be ready to work with this phone as soon as I get it:
1. What is the difference between obtaining/unlocking the P9 through (free) huawei website and the (paid) DC unlocker?
If I use DC unlocker, will it still make a record in Huawei database or it uses own-generated codes?
2. I do plan to debrand, unlock, TWRP, root (via Magisk) and install systemless Xposed. What would be the latest Open Europe FW that will work with full systemless setup? Can you link me threads/files that I could use to achieve this?
EDIT: I just found out that systemless xposed does not pass safetynet. In that case I'd use regular xposed + rootswitch.
Thanks.

bumping after 24hours and also answering my own (first) question. I talked with support and they use their own generated codes, so there are no traces of my phone being unlocked in Huawei database. The only way of checking it would be checking the device itself.

I'm too much of a newbie to answer your questions in entirety but regarding your first question. I did not think there was any difference EXCEPT that I tried for 2-3 days to get an unlock code through the Huawei website and finally just got fed up with the error codes. So I went to DC Unlocker and got one within 10 minutes. I saw on other threads that Huawei's web site is frequently down and unlock codes are sometimes hard to obtain. So, to me, it was just a matter of convenience. Try Huawei first and if you have trouble just pay the $ for DC-Unlocker. Good to know about the Huawei database because I presume that the unlock code that I received from DC-Unlocker will no longer work a second time (since I have since gone back to stock Marshmallow).

At the time of unlocking/relocking by using ADB/Fastboot, no Internet ad no on-line database is involved:
-You can disconnect PC from LAN/WLAN
-ADB reboots phone to the Fastboot mode
-In Fastboot mode phone is not connected to any network
Fastboot just validates if your code matches IMEI/Device ID of your phone
Keep the code safe, you may need it several times - I already used it three times.
Finally, I didn't pay a cent for the unlocking code, go to Huawei Web site (from PC or force Desktop mode in your mobile browser), provide the required info and get the code immediately - buying DC Unlocker could not be any easier or faster.
It was half a year ago, I recall that EU countries (nor USA, Australia, etc) were oferred, I chose Hong Kong or Singapure since they were available and with English language.
You must only provide an e-mail address about yourself, who cares about your real residence.
Btw, I have two Huawei IDs, one from that Hong Kong (for unlocking) and another registered for my real home country, with two different e-mail addresses but for the same phone
I can login to Huawei ID application on the phone, wiith one or another account, no problem
I dont see any need or advantage in paying to DC Unlocker, but everybody can decide for himself/herself
PS If you are concerned about bringing phone to the Huawei service - they immediately see if Bootloader is unlocked (reboot the phone and read the warranty that your phone is not safe - you can get rid off only if you relock the Bootloader but that will hard-reset the phone again) , they can even inspect if Bootloader was unlocked and relocked, they don't rely on a DB

Thanks for your answer. In the end, i just used dc unlocker and now my phone is working as I intended
The only thing I didn't do was reflashing with another FW, since it looked like unmodified/not-branded FW already (despite getting it from the carrier)
Regarding unlock code source - my point was, even if I relock bootloader and there will be no boot message about that & bootloader will report LOCKED status, they MIGHT check in the db for imei match. And that's what I wanted to avoid. (mentioning this just because DC unlocker can LOCK bootloader, not RE-LOCK.)

Help with restoring stock Android 6 from huawei p9

I have recently flashed one of the nougat Roms and would like to return to the stock from with Android 6.
My phone is a virgin contract phone(with optus boot screen) eva-l09 FCC ID qiseva-l09 I 6369a-eval09.
Can anyone tell me which stock from to get so that things like Android Pay work?
Australian Virgin phone btw
Pleaae, search in the forum, there are some threads about this...
I have searched, there is a thread with a heap of different stock firmwares but I'm unsure which one is right because I flashed the nougat Roms and now I'm unsure of the model number of the phone and I have no backup.
Presumably the model number in the nougat Roms info is wrong, maybe I have cross flashed?

Use the 136 full rom.
https://mega.nz/#!QE4TTSzJ!OjP6yXFtliK4XDRHLNIAKgxpf0gmhEeksDr_fjja0oY
1-. create folder "dload" in your external sdcard. Uncompress the rom zip inside it (one file "UPDATE.APP" and 2 folders: "dt" and "hw")
2-. turn off yout phone
3-. turn it pressing and holding power button + volume up + volume down
wait to restore.
Can you let me know if this works for you, nuttzo?
I've been trying to do the same as you for about a week now, with no progress
OK,ill have to find a different mirror for the file because that mega link seems to not work properly.
Through the phone I've tried downloading the file and both times the file is corrupted despite appearing to download fully.
On the raspberry pi the file stops once it hits 2gb and complains that the file is too big.
Thanks Iomunet but I can't download the file.
Mega sucks,i don't know why people use it.
Try installing mega app or from computer...

I only have a raspberry pi and the Android phone.
Mega sucks and doesn't work on both.
Unfortunately I don't have a Windows PC anymore.
OK I've managed to find another link to the stock ROM and have successfully downgraded back to marshmallow.
Android pay is still not working, any way to fix that?
Also Huawei id doesn't work, something about unable to service region.
Any way to fix these 2 issues?
OK it looks like if I install twrp after unlocking the bootloader I can flash the oeminfo IMG and remove the c900 build number from the phone.
That should get Android Pay working.
Now I have to pay for a bootloader code because I don't have Windows and I can't seem to get it through Huawei because their emails in chinglish are cryptic and the website links are broken.

You still have to unlock the bootloader to flash twrp don't you?
I have the Android and fastboot tools installed in Raspbian but I never checked the OEM unlock option in the developer options.
When I tried flashing twrp before it came up with an error something about unable to write due to permission error.
I assumed it was because the bootloader was locked.
you must unlock your bootloader first, yea. Huawei have a webpage to do it.

Haven't had success with getting to the Huawei page to unlock bootloader.
The closest I got to one I couldn't proceed because it required my mobile number but none of the country codes were from Australia so I couldn't get the SMS.
This is the email I got from Huawei which I couldn't make sense of.

Root/Updates/Rebranding/Unbricking - Official FunkyHuawei Support Thread for P10 Plus

This is the official FunkyHuawei support thread.
FunkyHuawei is a (mostly) paid service which allows you to do the following:
1. Install the latest system software, even before it's released by OTA.
2. Install beta/prerelease system software, without needing to be a beta tester.
3. Recover a bricked phone.
4. Rebranding / Change the region of your phone (China -> Europe, for example, to get Google and so on.)
5. Root your EMUI 8 phone, even with stock recovery (This feature is free)
Except for rooting, all of these features are supported even if you cannot unlock your phone's bootloader.
We are pleased to announce FHUnbrickFlashTool -- You can now repair any recent Huawei phone via fastboot, even if you cannot access eRecovery or boot the phone! Even if it doesn't show the Huawei logo, as long as you can get a fastboot connection to your computer, you can recover the phone! Google FHUnbrickFlashTool or check FunkyHuawei's reddit for details.
To find FunkyHuawei, please Google it. Or you can find a link to the service within the following XDA Portal article.
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-oreo-emui-6-huawei-mate-9/
In cooperation with XDA, FunkyHuawei is offering a free credit to Recognized Developers and Recognized Contributers on XDA.
Please PM me for more details.
We will continue posting in this thread with updates regarding new software versions and releases regarding this device.
We will also be monitoring it so we can help anyone who has issues.
For device-specific information, please see the next post.
P10 Plus Device-Specific Information
The P10 Plus now has a relatively mature community with many methods to do many things.
However, there are still some things only possible with FunkyHuawei, so it would be most useful for:
1. Installing updates on bootloader-locked devices, even if the update is not approved by Huawei for your device.
2. Rebranding bootloader-locked devices, or rebranding to obscure carrier brandings.
3. Restoring bricked devices.
Note that even though the Mate 10 Root tool is designed for the Mate 10, it works perfectly on the P10 Plus running Android O betas.
This tool is FREE, and might be easier than installing TWRP and rooting that way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does FunkyHuawei cost?
A: You need to buy credits on the FunkyHuawei website. The price per credit varies depending on the number of credits you buy. Different operations cost different amounts of credits. However, the Root feature of the Mate 10 tool is free, and as mentioned above, Recognized Developers/Contributors of XDA can ask for a free credit.
Q: My phone is bootloader locked, and FRP locked. My bootloader unlock code dosen't work. It won't boot. eRecovery doesn't work. Can you help?
A: Yes. With the Mate 10 this is now a common situation. Contact FunkyHuawei for help in this situation. We'll need to access your computer remotely and the procedure is a little bit complicated, but the phone can be unbricked.
Q: I can't get my bootloader unlock code/don't want to unlock my bootloader, but I want to change my phone to something other than Chinese. Can you help?
A: Yes. Our new FunkyHuawei Rebrand Tool works on ALL recent Huawei phones, to rebrand them to another region even when the bootloader is locked.
Q: I'm not seeing the latest version listed on FunkyHuawei or elsewhere as an OTA. Why not?
A: Huawei has a very odd and unpredictable way of rolling out OTA updates. You can use FunkyHuawei to install the new version immediately, or can wait for the update to be rolled out. It might be a month or more after release until the update reaches your device from Huawei directly. We have no idea why.
Q: Why isn't FunkyHuawei free?
A: Because many of FunkyHuawei's features cost FunkyHuawei money to provide. Features that don't cost FunkyHuawei money to provide, like rooting the Mate 10 or our TWRP build for Mate 9/Oreo, for example, are generally made available for free. There are also bills to pay, kids to put through school, and so on.
Q: I noticed FunkyHuawei in an XDA Portal article!
A: FunkyHuawei loves XDA, and is cooperating with them as much as possible. Recognized Developers and Contributors on the XDA forums are welcome to claim a free credit from FunkyHuawei as well.
Q: I have a different question.
A: This is what this thread is for! Post away!
I thought "official" FunkyHuawei threads violated XDa's terms an conditions due it being a paid service?
VKY-L29C432B177 coming. Changes are addition of VoLTE and VoWifi (carrier dependent).
Will be available on FunkyHuawei shortly.
UPDATE: Available now.
P10 plus stuck on fastboot. Black screen, no led.
Follow the rebranding manual result in brand new p10+ hard bricked.
Now the pone is completly dead black screen, no led when plugs the usb, no vibration. I had lost all hope until after it stayed connected for a long time to the pc I realized that windows was detecting somthing.
adb doesn't detect the device but fastboot detecs it.
I have tried to reboot in bootloader or flashing recovery without success. The commads apparently work and end with ok but after a reset the phone only load in fastboot mode without any other life signals. Bootloader is unlocked.
is there any solution to fix this?

Based on the email we received from you, it looks like you didn't use our service to rebrand.
Still, we can help you unbrick it if you have this situation, as long as you can access fastboot.

Thanks to this tool I could revive my P10+
It works like a charm
Thank you!
will i be able receive and install ota updates if i root my device and have twrp installed
I backed up my device using TWRP, I excluded the data partition since it is not working in TWRP. After I restored my device my bootanimation changed from Huawei animation to an "android" logo and when the device booted, I tried to open settings and the app instantly closes and same with the camera app. The camera app shows the name com.huawei.camera instead of saying "Camera" and all other apps started crashing. So, I wiped everything except my internal storage and restored my backup and now when I boot the device everything is black and I can only see the navigation keys and when I hold my power button I can see the restart and power off option. After like 2-3 minutes I get this message "You have run out of storage space" and when I press ok it takes me to a screen which shows 64/64 GB used. I have 0 space left on device

You can probably recover by using FHUnbrickFlashTool. If you contact FunkyHuawei support we can ask you for some more information to confirm exactly what the problem is.
Good work. I'll be more impressed when we finally work out a systemless root, i've lost count of the many OTA updates from Huawei - meaning their OS must be full of bugs and glitches for commonly used apps and typical use. Will we ever get there?

Bought phone from ebay, now registration wizard won't let me pass

So I bought this phone from eBay, like many before it. But this time it came with a twist: when I booted the phone, initial setup ran and all wend fine until I got to the register Google account screen.
There, the phone says: "This phone was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device".
No matter what account I use, I always get a Toast message saying "Unable to sign in to device due to a unknown error. Please try another account or try to sign in again after 24 hours.".
I'm guessing this is some kind of theft protection where entering a previously synced account "proves" that you're the legit owner. The authorised service here told me that I need some kind of proof that I'm the legit owner and surely enough the eBay seller has issued no invoice containing the phone's IMEI (or any similar document).
Anyway, here I am with this gorgeous phone on my hands which is little more than a brick due to this.
Is there any way I could get it to work again? Returning it will just generate more costs for me and I'd like to avoid that.
I've seen guides on youtube where they managed to bypass this security measure, but both methods I've seen failed for me. I guess the version running on my phone is just too recent and plugged all the holes.
Do I have any way of downgrading the software at least? Note that this is a fully locked phone and I can't even start TWRP from fastboot.
Anything else?
Edit: Now that I'm re-reading this post, it occurred to me that there's very little chance that this phone wouldn't be a stolen one. Had it not been, the seller would easily issue me an invoice.
Leaving this post only because my searching hasn't turned up anything on XDA. Probably also reporting the guy on eBay.

From the Settings / About, what is exact (full) build name/number?
Generally, if you are on Nougat then IMO, rolling back to MM should completely reset your phone.
You cannot flash TWRP without unlocking Bootloader. But that will not help much for resetting Google protection.
Btw, enable Developer's menu, does it allow you to unlock FRP/OEM Unlocking - in that case you will be able to reset all from EMUI recovery.

It is stock recovery. I don't recall the option for factory reset. In fact there's no options at all, save for reboots.
Fastboot says everything is locked as it should be.
Don't know how to downgrade to MM.

But not sure would it allow you to setup.
That is Factory Reset Protection (FRP/OEM Unlocking) - if it was unlocked you would be allowed to reset from recovery.
You can ask seller - maybe he can login to his Google account and remotely remove Google account from the sold phone.
Or you can try DC Unlocker, not sure would it work

Well, DC unlocker ultimately worked, but not before buying a wrong package, having to ask tech support, etc, etc. Not to mention the guy really has no patience for people who don't have his level of understanding of the subject. Why does he do it then if he hates the whole thing so much?

Sorry for bothering but I'm interested now - when Bootloader was unlocked (and FRP too), were you just able to pass setup or you needed to do Factory reset from Recovery or how did you get the stock ROM working for you
Final resolution: the seller sent me an invoice. I guess that means that the phone wasn't stolen after all since they can only expect that this will be entered into Huawei databases.

The procedure was thus:
1. unlocker unlocked the FRP
2. phone rebooted into a factory reset (low level) mode - it specifically said "low level"
3. phone booted into normal Android where the FRP protection was no longer active. On screen where it previously demanded a previous Google account it now only demanded A (any) Google account as I'm used to from all the other phones I ever bought.

How Do I Unlock North American Version ROG 3

EDIT: Apologies. Apparently, even though I had already done an update and check twice for any more new ones, my phone had not pulled its latest update and therefore the unlock app was not working. Everything is good now and mods can delete my post.
————————————————————————————
I got my North American version ROG 3 today and immediately set out to load up the unofficial LineageOS ROM from these forums.
Naturally, the first thing I did was enable developer mode and activate usb debugging and then kept scrolling to find OEM Unlock. However, this option is missing. Very odd and worrisome.
I thought maybe since this phone unlocks the bootloader with an apk, that perhaps the option was not needed.
I downloaded the unlock app from ASUS’s web site but every time I use it, it says it cannot unlock the phone and to try again later.
So my question is: How the heck do I unlock the phone?
Any help is appreciated. I’m not super knowledgeable but I’m fairly familiar with the process of installing custom roms. However the last time I did this was about 3 years ago so I’m a bit rusty. Just giving a frame or reference.
Thank you so much again, everyone.
Which update version are you running? I have a NA variant (new bought from Ebay) and I've manually checked for latest updates, I'm on QKQ1.200419.002.WW_Phone-17.0822.2005.11 I can't get the unlocker to work either. For me, no errors though. It just reboots right away and nothing changed. Done it 15 times now. They say just keep trying but I'm getting skeptical at this point.
There's no OEM unlock option on ROG 3.
BL is unlockable without this option.
Email Asus technical help, & keep trying to unlock BL with official unlock tool (with internet connected).
There is no North American version. It's either Chinese or WorldWide versions.

Question Disadvantages of Onlocking Bootlaoder

i ordered a X30 pro with CN ROM but the seller sent one with GLOBAL ROM installed . He agreed to revert from Global ROM to CN ROM but said that relocking the device would damage the phone.
I want to know if i revert the Bootloader unlocked phone to CN ROM , will i be able to use Netflix,Google Services and OTA updates?
Is there something i am missing out compared to the Bootloader Locked device with CN ROM?
I have an option to legally force him to replace the device, but it will be a loss for the local seller who procured it from china and i dont want to impact the poor guy's profits if there is no major feature i will be missing out.
Device can be returned to CN and relocked safely. As I am dumb enough not to notice that people repeatedly use my work to further grow their business I am not gonna post a link to the guide.
However: If you receive a Frankenstein device that was converted to global and then locked you can not unlock it again on your own and need people with the proper tools and edl mode probably.
The cleanest way is to receive an original device and then do the work yourself. You'll learn and you will only have yourself to blame if things go wrong.
Netflix, google service and ota's are all working on my relocked phone. Can not say how far Netflix is working but it does start (which it refused to do on global firmware)
@Killuminati91 RSA tool said my device is out of warranty I think he perceives the situation, but what he perceives is this: The situation i noticed in a few videos i watched on Youtube; Those who use this software box, that is, the software developers who made my device, take the device from fastboot mode to a so-called "factory mode" in order to write global software or imei change to Motorola devices, and do the operations that way. That mode also does not require the unlocked bootloader to perform these operations. In Factory mode, the screen is black, nothing is visible, but the box continues to perform operations Very interesting...

Thanks for the reply and i absolutely understand your concern. But what if i return to CN ROM and leave the Bootloader unlocked? Will there still be Netflix, google service and ota working ? Will i be losing out on something apart from the manufacturer's warranty?

Yeah that is EDL mode if im not mistaken. You can force it by bridging pins on the motherboard, but there must be other options to boot into it. (Xiaomi supported a certain USB cable that bridged the pins basically for a few devices). Its like a really low level flash mode.
@ragz85: I think netflix wont work with an open bootloader but I never did any research about it. There might be magisk modules that can fix it.
If your bootloader is open you bascially NEED root / magisk to fix problems like online banking, google certification and safetynet.
Root on the other hand seems to disable OTA updates. Not too sure because I am certain that I received an update after converting to RETEU with an unlocked bootloader but didnt get any more OTAs after that.
@iron maiden: The guy who fixed your phone might be able to do it. No other ideas here.

but I have a problem and it is that being blocked it does not let me pay with a card, it detects it as root, how is it possible?
I assume you already have the answers to your questions... I'll still leave it here for anyone who might be interested:
1 With unlocked bootloader, no matter the ROM version (EU, BR, CN) you will NOT have Netflix, HBOMax, or Disney (the ones I tested).
2 It is possible YES to lock the Bootloader again. With that you have Streaming services and you can use almost everything from Google. Except Assistant(OK Google) and Android Auto.
To carry out the Block follow https://rentry.org/edge30ultra-relock even without the backup (because I acquired it already unlocked) I managed.

I bought the moto edge x30 pro with the global ROM installed the same. Even though I don't have the backup of the original Chinese ROM that was on the cell phone, can I do the procedure with a Chinese ROM from the Lolinet site? After you blocked the bootloader again, the banking apps and Googlepay work normally? I want to do this but I'm not sure. If I dare to do it, what version of the Chinese ROM did you download?

Yes friend, you can go to lolinet website go to the folder (EQS CN) download the oldest version (the first of the three from top to bottom) unzip open the file flashfile.xml with notepad (Or the one you prefer) copy everything and paste it on the site that will general the codes (the link is on the site I posted above) have magisk installed and saftnetyfix module (Install to enable OEM unlock in developer ) enabled uninstall magisk (by magisk itself ) format device and enable USB debugging, in bootloader Connect to the PC open CMD in the ROM folder and change the channel to retcn then copy all the codes from the website and paste in CMD and wait when finished restart the device configure (or skip) and activate USB debugging And connect to Lenovo Recue it should recognize your device and it will download the latest ROM follow the steps until restart installed skip and enable USB debugging open CMD and lock with Fastboot oem Lock You will have EVERYTHING working, Banks, Google play, FHD streaming (except Android auto and Ok Google)
