Wireless charging available? - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

So i just got my moto x4 yesterday and it's an indian variant (no android one or project fi). And I know that out of the box it doesn't support wireless charging. But then i stumbled upon this setting in the sound section:
{

Is it just an android thing or is it an indication that it might support wireless charging in future?
Also has anyone been working on a custom solution for it?
Thank you for your response in advance!
- Just a normal user.
Edit: i just realised that i'll need at least 10 posts to put any image here so yeah bummer
anyways.. if you guys notice this setting in your moto x4 and think that it's interesting, then do post your response. Let's help each other

Its not for the wireless charging. It is for the wireless connection through Bluetooth when pairing 4 devices at once..

Do you think it will get Android p ???

1) I do believe it's slated to get Android P
2) Let's worry about getting Android O before we worry about P a whole year (at least from now).
3) Next time you want to ask a question, don't highjack a thread about a different topic. Start a new one, or better yet, search for your answer.

ya see! that's the one i'm talking about! it specifically mentions "Wireless Charging Sounds" ! whoever knows what that means.

Well, Motorola does have some "undocumented hardware features". There IS a small white LED that responds to "notification LED" commands hidden between selfie flash and the front speaker grill. Until someone like iFixit tears an X4 down, I won't say that it CAN'T wireless charge (just that it DOESN'T).

yes i hope so too! ifixit will surely come across something. and if they do, then from there on, it's only a small job for a developer to make use of that hardware.

if the phone had the hw, they wouldn't disable it just for fun... forget about wireless charging

They wouldn't disable it, but they might not include the additional hardware needed for cost reasons. If there's a plug point and room in the case for a coil, 3rd party chargers are POSSIBLE (but not PROBABLE)

Diamond LED

I just bought a Diamond today and i noticed that the LED (placed by the speaker) doesn't do anything. It doesn't light when the phone is charging nor when the bluetooth is activated - is this a fault in the phone?
JESUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
How many people are gonna ask this question?
Why do people buy phones and not even know how to use them properly!!!
It`s not an LED it`s a light sensor...

"placed by the speaker" <--Look towards the LEFT of the speaker, there is a little 'squarish' part there that is the light-sensor which detects ambiance to dim the LCD's brightness up/down according to the surrounding lighting.
where does it say, LEFT? it could be RIGHT?
the little camera is placed BY the speaker? now i placed a screenshot. thats all
@neonlite: Obviously one would think that the words "placed by" would indicate 'close to' or 'right next to'.. the front facing VGA camera is farther away from the speaker than the light sensor.
And which one looks more like an LED light? I think the OP is smart enough to make out that what you were referring to is a camera.
lies!

The diamond sold in India is GSM only so the front VGA camera is not present because is supposed to be used for video call thru UMTS.

Looks like 5.1.1 Lollipop is coming! (at least to joying units)

Check it out!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDH5_AQlgmU
Looks like it will be here sometime in the next few weeks.
(I know it wont be a big change, but I think some people will be excited)
What newer features make it worth an exclamation point? Battery life - really? "Material design" - meh. Multiple SIM card support - huh? Fingerprint reader support? Android pay?
Maybe just a bigger number is better for bragging rights?
App compatibility...
example?
I've got nothing to prove mate, if you don't care then feel free to move along. Cheers.
Lollipop has better notification handling than KitKat, the ART runtime is tuned better (i.e. better performance), previous apps are restored after reboot, better power consumption, while not critical for head units less power consumption means less heat and better reliability.
While there are a bunch of apps that are available on KitKat and Lollipop, the Lollipop ones can have additional features.
Nothing ground breaking, I know I will appreciate the notification handling, being able to remove some persistent notifications for some apps and clean up that messy notification bar.
For me, the biggest thing is that it shows joying actually supports their products and isn't just another reseller.

The MAIN feature of Lollipop over KK is the fact that it has DIGITAL AUDIO natively through USB if your audio hardware supports it. I am most excited about that. Material design is the other reason, and the other reason is that RAM management and App memory management is better. Project Butter in Lollipop works very well in operating the interface at 60 fps and I am guessing these are reasons enough to be excited about Lollipop.

There's a link posted on the carjoying.com website to a beta 5.1.1 firmware for the RK3188 1024*600 units :

Here's the direct link to the firmware :

Has anyone tried this yet? Just tried to update but got the boot logo (manufacturer, not the bootloader logo), just sat there for like 30mins, restarted and it reverted to factory firmware on 4.4.

Hey Frank,
How did you install an external DAC to usb player pro? I have a FiiO x3K that I would like to hook up to the head unit and use as a DAC? Is there any way, you might have some insight as to how I can a achieve this? Would I have to use a microusb to usb or auxilary?
Thanks

Off topic a bit, but first go install the trial app and plug your Fiio into USB and test it out.

Gemini PDA, has a sim slot... could be interesting...

I agree that it looks very cool, but they want to use a MediaTek processor.
MTEK are very unfriendly to modders and the open source community and rarely release any source code. Yet the Gemini guys wrote that they'll support Linux dualboot.
Looks a bit weird to me. I'd like to get that but only if Lineage will run on it.
I wonder if you can actually use it as a phone. like put it to your ear and talk...
That thing looks way interesting. The only thing that I am worried about is how to make a phone call with this.
ohhhhh wtf? thats looking cool
and if u read the description
Gemini is an ultra-thin clamshell mobile device with fully integrated tactile QWERTY keyboard, that fits in your pocket. Designed for Android, it also features a dual boot Linux option. Gemini is fully equipped with 4G, WiFi & Bluetooth enabling both data communications and mobile phone calls

Yes but, I think that to make a call you have to open it up to dial, and use the stereo speakers to listen, there is no ear only speaker.
The Gemini PDA will have a microphone and speaker for phone use whilst closed. Calls can be made in this mode via the voice activation button or wired or wireless headset. Programmable LEDs will enable caller ID for known callers.

You can* there are mics and speakers on both sides so it doesn't matter which way you use it, but forget about using the touchscreen in case you need to. (you'll have to open the clamshell to do so.)
I have one but haven't tested the phone yet (or really plan to) . As mine is an early release model (early backer) it shipped without the e-sim functionality enabled yet (testing still needed), and I really don't want to get a sim card if I don't have to. (Regular Sim cards do/should work)

USB Dongle

I've never posted here so go easy. I'm not sure how many people still use the LG Watch Sport. But I have something some may be interested in. I bought my watch on ebay a bit ago and the seller said it was an AT&T demo unit but I didn't really care. So I received it and it came in a clean white box (not a retail box) with everything all packaged nicely like it came from the factory. Well one thing I noticed but never really thought about was that mine came with a USB dongle. I know enough to be dangerous with fastboot and adb but don't have a lot of time to troubleshoot. So I can get it to show up in adb and reboot to the bootloader but I cannot figure out the driver I need for fastboot. In my device manager it just shows up as "Android" with a yellow exclamation because there is no driver. I'm going to attach pictures to prove I'm not crazy (once I figure out how to) and also a close up of the part number in case anyone wants to look for it online.

Bootloader unlocked. Any devs want me to try anything?
Where does the USB dongle connect too?
When you open the back of the watch, there is a small connector near the heart rate sensor and SIM card slot.
That's pretty amazing, a USB dongle has been talked about, but never seen in the wild I believe!
Its been done by WiFi in the past, which is slow.
Unfortunately I seem to be the only one that actually has the cable. I posted some pics in the WearOS subreddit.

Here you go, the image isn't loading for me though... : https://www.reddit.com/r/WearOS/comments/cf0izv/anyone_with_an_lg_watch_sport_wonder_what_the_usb/
EDIT: From what I remember the circuit looked quite basic, if we had some hi-res photos and if discthrower could do some probing with a multimeter we may be able to replicate it... I think it may just be a simple usb passthrough, I couldn't make out any kind of converter chip on the board but I couldn't make out any chip numbers I'm no expert either.

Finally someone with added value and common sense! Thank you. We're really missing detailed photos, making it won't be that difficult. Till you posted it here, discussions in regard to flashing LG Watch Sport on XDA were highly theoretical or pointless. I tried searching ebay to no avail. I would buy it instantly.

Thank you. I've already watched that video in the past, but it doesn't say what these are.
They also look like plastic instead of metal, so I'm still unsure if I'm missing something or not...
My speculations are that those are the connection for wifi antennas. Last year, I was changing the LCD, ive made some research that on some cheap LCDs they dont have that connector, and that people are complaining their Wifi becoming non-existent after using that screen. I brought the OEM one that costs abit more, about 27 USD in aliexpress and i notice no wifi issues what so ever (apart from the distance being ****, true to its original condition lmao). Another guess is that its for the touchscreen grounding i guess??

That would make some sense... my wifi performance on 2.4GHz is just miserable, it struggles to find the SSID even if I'm standing next to the router.
Interestingly enough, the same router puts out a 5GHz SSID and that one is mostly fine.
Now, if these connectors have something to do with wifi I still can't seem to find the parts online. Only the coaxial cable shows up, and I thought that was the only antenna connector for wifi...

I think you need to refer back on the original part of the screen. From my knowledge, these are a part of the frame of the screen assembly, so you can always transfer the OEM/Original old parts to your new screen. Or maybe next time make sure to buy the oem version that has complete features like what i did. I hope it helps!
