Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 - Tenderloin - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi @liamtw22/All,
Does anyone know about this amazing rom, for our Touchpads? I'm currently using this amazing rom on my N7000, and 3x i9100's. It's an awesome rom, packed with hundreds of features. I was gobsmacked when I found this on AndroidFileHost, and tried to install it on the Touchpad, however sadly it does not boot....
ROM: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745849072291678120
Anyone had any success with this rom, or are able to mod it and make it boot...?
Regards, Lister

Hi! I've been working on Resurrection Remix for the Touchpad as kind of a side project. I haven't had much time to work on it, so, unfortunately, it doesn't work yet, but I hope to be able to work on it more soon. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi @liamtw22,
First of, there's "no inconvenience" what so ever.... I'm just so delighted to come across this fine rom for the Touchpad. After dusting off my Touchpad a few weeks back, and trying hard to bring it back to life.... (ended up getting another on eBay for bargin price).
Ressurection Rom is one of my fav roms at the moment... Never used to be a fan of it, due to strong gustly colours. But the recent Nougat version, seems more mature and stock looking, yet PACKED with every feature I want in a rom. I use it on my other devices, and to see it here... well its only good news, no matter what shape its in....
So THANK YOU for even attempting to make it, and look forward to seeing updates in the future. No rush, whenever you get a moment and feel like picking up the project again...
Cheers, Lister

[Solved] Lightweight Rom for LG2x ?

Hi everyone !
There's quite some interesting roms for our LG Optimus 2x. I've been using stock, then DjangoManouche (for quite some time), then MIUI v5 (using it right now). MIUI seemed a good idea at the time, but honestly it's quite inusable, very heavy. So I'm looking for a nice and lightweight rom, which could be used with my LG specs, here :
JB preferred, kowalski kernel actually, new bootloader with 30b baseband.
Problem is, there are so much roms I have no idea where I should start ...
So, could you please share what you think i should give a try ?
Thank you !
I don't know about the baseband, but you should check mostly up to date roms, like tonyps' the ROM, cm10.1 t-build, pa by the same tony or cm10.1 by pengus. You could also try slim roms by djnoxd. If i remember correctly, all of them are pretty much lightweight, comes with kowalski kernel. I like the slim rom color inversion, but other roms are nice too. You should try them and see which one appeals you most. Good luck!

Check my signature. Very nice ROM I am sure you will like
hmm ... 2 answers already, and 2 suggesting slim* roms. I think that's the way to go then
Seems there are multiple versions ? Anyway, thank you both of you for your advices, I will try it and come back to close this topic with result and feedback.
Again, thank you !
Ahh, I see a fellow "let's find the best" rom-flasher. I am more or less exactly like you. I even installed the latest MIUI just yesterday. But after having this device for some time, I found my sweet spot. Yes, MIUI is heavy(I even disabled some built in apps, but still wasn't good enough), ICS doesn't quite cut it, 2.3 is way too old for me to enjoy, and 4.4 is not perfect. I found my sweet spot to be TonyP's Clean CM10.2. I use it with the Android 4.4 kitkat theme and Nova Launcher. That combined with Greenify does the job quite beautifully. As for SlimBean, I didn't test it, but I see a lot of users are enjoying it. Search. That's my advice. I used every available rom on here, just to find my preference. For now, I'm waiting for CM11 and the 3.1 kernel to be fully operable, and then I'll probably switch to CM11. All in all, you've got everything you need.
Thanks for your advice NoDze. Topic is a bit more specialized, as I'm searching for the lightweight rom, not the best. I honestly can't try them all but I guess I can't really avoid it at some point. So, thanks for sharing your setup, that's another one to considerate :good:

By definition, a lightweight rom should be one with only basic stuff implemented, like phone, messaging and stuff, and furthermore, it would be nice that such one is as AOSP as possible. Tony's The ROM, for example, is in my opinion bloated with features, and that's why I avoid it. I, myself, remove all applications that I consider unusable fro the zip, prior to flashing. SlimRom, as much as the name might imply, is in my opinion full of additional features for which I find no need. It is a great rom, nevertheless, but everyone has its own preference. You can even try the good old "Look Ma" CM10 by Pengus. That ROM has only basic stuff, clean CM and I often hear here on the forums that by flashing KK M1, it's a beast. I mean, asking which ROM is the best is really as if you're asking what superhero is the best in a comicbook store. As for lightweight: OptiX(ICS), LookMa(CM10),SlimBean(CM10.1, CM10.2). I know you knew all this, but I just wanted to provide further info.

'Seems quite a good definition to me . That's what i was searching for. SlimBean answered the call. For now, it rocks It was able to withstand everything I've thrown at it, plus the installation was smooth, fast, and easy. Indeed, there's a lot of features i'm not going to use, but it doesn't seem to affect speed (so far). Everything is working (i mean Camera, Photo, Wifi etc) and LG2x is very well responding.
Curiously, the only things a bit out were native android launchers : i've tried the one that comes with slimbean and the 4.4 launcher, and i experienced some problems with both of them rapidly (some slowdown, crashes). Apex launcher fixed that, but i'm not sure why android launchers were so slow.
Then, thank you again for your answers and your infos. Acknowledged, received, and saved

New Rom Suggestion, Coming from GB

Hello XDA,
It's been a while since I've gone through the whole process of finding a good rom. I'm running Gingerbread still, a variant of DarkyRom_3.4.1 currently. Flash works great. Probably going to miss that. But it's getting slow. I need a reinstall.
Plus, cracked my screen. Bezel edges and corners are also torn up. Paid $140 for new screen and replacement rear back/bezel/case http://www.ebay.com/itm/281265794618?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
So, anybody spend time testing ROMs in the last month? What's new, stable, and clean? I've skimmed the rom list, but nothing beats interactive testing. For looks, I want AOSP but can't decide if I want TW with Apex or Nova, or CM 10.1 like SuperNexus. Trying for speed, fluidity, no bloat.
What have people settled on lately? Opinions are all I ask
How horrible is Flash compatibility now? I tried flash on a Nexus 4 on latest (4.4.2?) and it wouldn't play firstrowsports.eu or projectfree.tv so that's kind of a bummer...
Any suggestions would be great! Don't want to spend a full week testing roms and rewiping my phone..I don't have a second to use while I play with my Note, and I'm kinda busy with work lately to wipe my phone over and over.
Another question while I'm at it... Is a nandroid backup taken with my outdated CWM going to restore OK after I upgrade? Thinking I'll be ok.
Thanks :good:
If you are too lazy to test yourself then stay on stock rom.
Why should other members do the work for you and write here - which is simply a best rom thread and so against XDA rules (reading them might help you).
And: many members who cooked or developed roms spent a lot of time doing this and making good threads, tutorials and instructions. So please use these and pay a little respect to them by doing so.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me I'm lazy. I work hard, thank you very much.
Why should other members "do the work for me"? Well, without trying to justify anything, I've answered questions for other people, simply out of the kindness of my being, just because I know the answer. Last time I put in the effort of testing rom after rom, I shared my knowledge. I'm sure there's other people out there like me. I mean, with your methodology, we should all be told to go Google it...which is akin to telling someone to go shove it.
If you've put in the effort of trying roms, and you have the time to leave me a helpful response, and you don't consider it "working for me", I'd appreciate it.
At the moment im on c-rom kitkat its pretty fast and have alot of options. Its not touchwiz . Everyone has their own likings so flash one if you dont like flash another. End of story. I did what you did before asking for best roms and at the end i pick a rom no one mention in the thread in my own phone

AryaMod v5 TW 4.1.2
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
I've been using the OmniROM variants lately and found them to be slightly faster than TW-based ones. Right now I'm on Asylum OmniROM Naughties 4.4.2 and it's been pretty stable and zippy so far. Battery life is same as with TW. Not sure about Flash compatibility as I don't use it. As for nandroid backups, I recently read that you need to restore using the same kernel/recovery as you used when you made the backup. Not sure if that's true or not, but something to keep in mind if you're jumping from ROM to ROM.
AryaMod 5.5 is the best rom right now and has Flash support enabled by default. Every JB (or even KITKAT) version can handle Flash if you sideload Flash Player apk and a compatible Browser (Like Firefox). The stock, Samsung browser have Flash support enabled without any hack.

Thanks for your reply, as well as the others. I'll be giving AryaMod a go.
I [and many others] really wish samsung would publish the hardware composer and other needed source for AOSP builds....It seems like I keep loving the AOSP interface more. Paranoid is awesome. AOKP helps little things. CM features are also great. Together, perfect.
For me, Stunner 2 is GUI perfect. Functionality missing though. Of course, need that hardware acceleration. Can't use my Vulkano (Hava). Can't watch Top Gear without transcoding from MKV.
On another "note" (no pun intended lol), does anybody know a 5.3" or larger phone that is 100% AOSP friendly?
Xperia Z-Ized this great rom
I have a meaningful update!
I found a new phone, and it's going to be cheap, and very new because it's about to be released.
Check out the OnePlus One, http://oneplus.net/ $300 / $350 middle of May supposedly.
Hello guys,
I use AryaMod V7 for a week. It´s a very fast, stable, battery friendly and smooth ROM with S5 theme. Also with S-Pen apps

[Q] ROM recommendations PLZ?

I have an Atrix HD, rooted, with unlocked JB bootloader, and I've also done the MAXX battery MOD. I haven't had this phone long and it seems to be a bit laggy, and a battery hog on the stock firmware. I am not partial to JB or KK so I am pretty open to suggestions. All I am looking for is SPEED, STABILITY, and BATTERY LIFE, and of course the LEAST amount of bugs possible. TY all in advance! :good:
ROM recommendation posts are a dime a dozen around here, and the answer is always the same: figure it out for yourself by browsing the development forums for your phone, and flash the one that fits what you want.
Thanks

No, not everything is buggy as hell. The majority of them run just fine and are good enough for daily drivers. If you installed one, you'd see for yourself.
I understand that you want a perfect ROM but there isn't one. You've gotta take what minimal bad there is with the good. Even stock ROMs have bugs.
The best advice is to flash a ROM that sounds good and see if you like it. Hell, that's half the fun!
Thanks Dr. Orange

I understand what you are saying, and I have been checking them out, I'm on CM11 now, and have tried Holoblur, and a couple others. I've went through this with literally 13 devices now so I'm not new to this. I was simply asking the community for the best ones that they have used from their experience. I have asked this question on XDA about all of my other devices and normally people respond with just what I said before. Its just a lot easier when I can narrow it down between a handful of ROMs that are DD material.
What has been your favorite so far Doc?
Ah yes! Had to make sure you weren't just asking for the best instead of researching for yourself! I guess I could've been a little more helpful from the beginning...
My most important feature is pie controls, second is tied with customizing options and battery, So right now, carbonROM is perfect for me. I'm running the 8/04 jbbl build and it works great.
I have the MAXX battery mod so battery isn't as important, but I still want it to last all day.
Team Gummy works well too. The only build for our jbbl phone that works is the April build 2.0. It's light and battery life is good too. Also has pie, not as many customizable options.
Those are my KitKat choices, I'm not sure of the 4.3 Roms other than the last time I had a 4.3 PAC ROM installed it worked really well with excellent battery life. 4.3 Roms are arguably the most refined, but development has shifted towards KitKat obv.
That's pretty much all I know.
Awesome!

That my friend is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much for the input... I will definitely try your recommendations next. I also did the MAXX MOD on mine the other day with the EB40 battery and cutting of the inner frame, but just like you I definitely want it to be able to last all day. Lol, I know there is no perfect ROM, I just didn't wanna be crack flashing for the next couple months with as many nice sounding ROMs there are for this phone. Either way, your info is extremely appreciated, and thanks for the heads up on Gummy. I typically look at a ROM's OP first to look at the features then look through the last couple pages to see if and what issues it may have. It just got frustrating bc MOST posts end with people all talking about their damn RAZR's in the wrong forum lol. So thank you very much Doc.

4.3.1 unified build from 1 Feb 14 works well and has decent battery life with the battery mod, best battery life i have seen so far was on ATT's stock pre-heartbleed fix revision.
Thank you very much as well palm beach. I'm on Gummy 2.0 now (the one that works) that the doc suggested and I love it aside from some random systemui force closes so I think I will try your suggestion next lol.

LOS 15.1

I don't mean to be that guy, but i was wondering if anyone was going to bring plain old lineage 15.1 to the Mix. I see all these new oreo roms, with both aosp and los bases, and while they are intriguing, I'd prefer to stick with the tried and true, the most well supported, and thus the most stable custom rom for android.
Ah... I haven't any right to be impatient. I appreciate the work thus far. Just a wish.
I moved away from Lineage since AICP is basically LOS + their extras, and frankly I was building it for myself to begin with. I assumed the AICP/LOS maintainers would already have put out Oreo builds by now. I always found AICP and RR (although it's mostly AOSP-based) to be every bit as stable as LOS, and any bugs they had would almost always be inherited from it. The only app that isn't working in AICP/RR that I'm aware of is the default Music app. There aren't any apps crashing or random reboots or anything else that you'd normally associate with beta ROMs (aside from the TWRP issues that some have reported).
It doesn't look like RR is going to have an official maintainer for the Mix so I might have that one for the foreseeable future. The AICP guy said that they will be bring Oreo builds soon. If/when they do I suppose I could swap AICP out for LOS, but juggling 3 ROMs is a bit much. Even if I built it, it'd almost certainly have the same TWRP issues with decryption/mounting data that my last AICP/RR builds had. Hopefully Hen Ry will migrate to Oreo ASAP.

Didn't necessarily expect the outpouring, but it is appreciated. Ive heard alot about aicp, and its rock solid composition. In theory id like to switch, but i perhaps have an irrational attachment to LOS. Been running custom roms for 7 years now and I'm not long for much experimenting, though i should probably do a bit more.
Ha, no pressure at all, but it would be cool to see LOS 15.1 in official or unofficial capacity. Gavin especially, you've put in alot of work, so dont take it too seriously. Just voicing a thought. Thanks guys.

HOWEVER, the twrp issue, encryption, 0mb data even though the settings in 15.1 state that the rom is not encrypted, that's been plaguing all oreo roms reared its ugly head. Typing this on my trusty oneplus one because i utterly botched my mix. Whew. I know better. Still, it hurts.

Re: twrp issue, what version are you using ? Same problem with RR oreo? Is proximity working on this rom?
Sorry, didn't test long enough to find out. Chickened out at the first sign of trouble. I really cant have my phone down for too long.
As for the twrp, its an older version, smarty twrp based on 3.0.2.? I believe it is the only other version of twrp beyond raines that doesn't have the touch screen issues if not matched perfectly with the rom. It flashed oreo, but it wouldn't mount any partitions after flashing oreo. Had to format everything. Should've anticipated that, but id been drinking.
Oh well.
From whay ive seen, i have no reason and had no expectation of proximity working here,as this is the base for other roms with non-working proximity. Those that have downtime to spare can confirm.

The MultiROM and raupe builds are both newer and have working touch. I've been using this one for ~6 months (unencrypted) and never had any issue with the Oreo ROMS (PE/RR/AICP and Cardinal).
The proximity mention was because they stated that they had fixed the issue.

Cheers man..next time dont drink and flash roms lol..kidding aside..well i asked about proximity since the dev mentioned that he found the solution to the proximity issue on other oreo roms....
What good is it if everyone creates a ROM and they all have the same sources?
I have already created a LOS build, but no proxi and partition is
"Encrypted".

Well if built from same sources possible no difference at all..anyway, may i know if what twrp you are using? Thanks hen ry and eagerly waiting for your official oreo los based rom.
I know im not a pro dev , im starting to it but hey...we all have started from zero so..ill try my best to keep Mi Mix updated (the proximity sensor fix is not mine , the user that fixed it don't want to share with me so sorry for that) , as I don't know which sources are the best I just use the ones that the other devs used .

The average user doesn't care or know about sources. Sure, PE/Cardinal and AICP/RR could be twins, but more choice is better than less.
The whole reason that myself and albertoduqe started building Oreo ROMs is because no one else was doing it. Sure, some of them might be very similar, but to the end users most ROMs are 95% identical anyway. All it takes is for one ROM to have some minor config option or theme or whatever and that's enough to make someone choose it over the next one that's 99% the same under the hood. Also, if one or two of us move on to another device, like papps did, then there will still be one or two around to keep putting builds out.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't almost all ROMs out there based on either LOS or AOSP anyway?

I know im not a pro dev , im starting to it but hey...we all have started from zero so..ill try my best to keep Mi Mix updated (the proximity sensor fix is not mine , the user that fixed it don't want to share with me so sorry for that) , as I don't know which sources are the best I just use the ones that the other devs used .

Just LoL. No other words.
Don't drink and flash, truer words never been spoken.
On the TWRP, I was aware when i was forced to reformat, but i didn't want to go down that rabbit hole again, not in that condition. Now that its down and im sane again, i suppose i could really mess with it. Ive reached the acceptance phase of loss.
Ill try those newer versions of twrp when i have some time, its a bridge ive needed ti cross, now more than ever.

100% Agree to your point Gavin. Being a flashaholic user, the more ROM to try the merrier.!!! Its regardless of the sources. To devs who are devoting their time trying to build a new ROM i salute you all. You all know who you are. We are all glad that you keep the flame burning for Mi Mix! Keep it up Devs.....
The major issue I ran into when flashing the build posted here is that I cannot flash magisk. An issue with mounting the vendor partion arises in that part of the workflow, ending in Error 1.
Beyond that, the temporary solution to the 0mb issue is to reformat your data to f2fs in recovery, specifically the one Gavin posted here. I no longer have any issues after first boot. A little more on my experience here. But this confirms it working on two oreo roms for me now, and I expect the rest will run too.
In my expanded testing, I couldn't get proximity to work..., but everything else ran fine for the most part. Ill have to wait until the vendor partition mounting works to continue on as root is a requirement for me, and magisk is the best supported at this time.

Question good stable and most customizable rom

can anyone tell me some good stable rom and which is highly customizable like able to put custom icon packs downloaded from google or playstore
Hi @avedant2005,
Without a shadow of doubt, the most highly customizable rom has to be CrDroid. I've used it on many a devices over the years, and is by far the most complete and packed features of them all. Uses features across various other roms. Looks great too....
I've yet to try it on Note 11 NFC so far, as I am trying to keep this phone/device as stock based for as long as possible. As soon as its days are numbered or I get annoyed, I will rom it....
But Ive had no complained with CrDroid on any other device I've had/run...
Cheers, Lister
