Volte Working in Cricket wireless? - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

Is there anyway to enable Volte over Cricket wireless?
I mean the Moto G5s plus is designed to have Volte and Cricket have it ....

I have the same issue in UK with Vodafone and my g5s plus. No volte options available or working.

yes is weird..this phone is capable of VOLTE.....

Not weird at all AT&T (Cricket) is just weird on the whole VoLTE thing. I honestly think their handset guys hate the network guys trying to get rid of UMTS traffic. Very few and far between BYOD Android phones work on VoLTE even though they are perfectly capable with AT&T/Cricket.

[Q] VoLTE

Will the VoLTE feature be available for this model? Nexus 6...Hard choices!
It is already available on 2013 Moto phones and onwards. Of course it will be on this phone.
It'll be available in the first few months after launch.

While I would love for this to be true, it's not. I specifically passed on the Z3V and am returning my Moto X 2014 because it is not available on either, and neither do simultaneous data/voice without the "Advanced calling 1.0" update, which who knows when it will arrive.
Sad

I get simultaneous calling/data as long as I am on 4g.
Motorola/Verizon have had the fastest updates.
Very surprised the Moto X did not have the update. Then again, the VoLTE is just rolling out for Maxx/Ultra/Mini now.
Can I use VOLTE to call people on other carriers? Probably just a stupid question but I read a post on another forum that for Verizon VOLTE to work so you can use data while on a call it has to be two Verizon VOLTE devices AND both need to be in a VOLTE area...
I assume this isn't true and that I can use VOLTE to call anyone and still use data.

I believe right now it only works on VZW->VZW where both people have VoLTE. Eventually it will work across other carriers, but not until they all adopt the technology more widely.
The HD voice and video calling only work for calls to other volte phones. But you can still call other people with VoLTE enabled and use voice/data.

Project Fi on US Retail XT1900-1

I was having issues with activation Fi on the Sprint network so I contacted Google and they told me that my device was unsupported. I think they're wrong but the rep insisted that I couldn't use it. Does anyone on here know if I can use it?
https://fi.google.com/about/phones/
This page shows, toward the bottom, that you can 'bring your own' Moto X4 or the Android One Moto X4 . One would think this is enough evidence to show that ANY X4 will work.
Project fi uses Sprint towers... I'm currently connected to the fi network on 4g+ on Sprint tower... X4 Android One edition.

I was having a lot of issues with the network switching so I've switched to using my FI sim in an Honor 7x and just using the T-Mobile towers. It's actually working a lot better.
My understanding from the reddit/r/projectfi is it will work but you do not get network switching and wifi calling working. so it will run only on t-mobile.
Activated mine no problem. Got a sim from Fi and bought a Moto x4 unlocked from best buy. Unsure why others are saying that the phone won't work, or will only work on T-mobile. I've had both Sprint and Tmo signal working perfectly fine.
Just curious, but do you have the Project Fi app installed? Have you done anything to the phone (unlock bootloader/root/etc)?
got mine today from best buy. I asked them to price match and they did. so I got it for 249. went home and pulled out Fi sim card from nexus 6 and into the moto x4. let Fi app optimize the network and after that, I am connected with Sprint towers. All stock here. it just got the last update to android O 8.0. from 7.1.1
have not tested MMS , wifi calling, and tmobile towers but I am in Abilene TX and I don't know if there is any tmobile here. I move a lot for work so soon I should be able to test tmo or uscellular.
Can anyone verify that the moto x4 fi version wifi calling works on tmobile. Was going to get the special they have then switch back to tmobile.

Project fi switches between Sprint, TMobile, US Cellular, and Next networks all which use various different methods. Gsm,cdma, etc. Your phone does not have the ability to do that. So while it may work on one of the networks that Google fi uses, it will not switch carriers like a Google fi phone should. You might be fine with that, but if you travel, that's where Google fi comes in really handy. Google fi is not for everyone. But I can tell you my bill went from 135$ a month for 2 people to 58$ a month, with better service and faster connection than at&t.

unlocked on Verizon

I'm not really new to this. I would always buy the phones, then root them when root was available. My question is if I buy the unlocked version and have it on Verizon, does anyone know what features won't work? Like I believe wifi calling on tmobile won't. But what about Verizon?
I THINK similarly, HD calling and Wifi calling won't work. I remember this from other discussions of unlocked Galaxy devices on Verizon.

Ok, thanks.... That is the problem I'm having cause I don't know about that part. Like I said, I normally just buy the phones then root them when root is available, but the s8 never got it or it took so long I didn't worry about it anymore. But I'm going overseas soon and would like to just swap sims and not worry about international charges
HD calling and volte should work. wifi calling a visual voicemail won't. check Samsungs page for compatibility.
my pixel 2 unlocked has EVERYTHING working on Verizon tho. dunno why.

Features you lose with unlocked phone on verizon network.
Visual Voicemail (VVM)
LTE Video Calling
Enhanced Address Book
VoWiFi (WiFi calling)
Family Base
Family Locator
that's worth it. no big deal except maybe wifi calling.

no way, cellular trash store will offer you phone with unlocked bootloader.

I have an unlocked S9+ on Verizon prepaid. Everything works fine including VoLTE and WiFi Calling. The only thing that doesn't is Visual Voicemail, but that's because I'm on prepaid. I'm sure the S10 will be the same.

Does Video Calling work on the unlocked s9+ on Verizon?
My unlocked note 9 on Verizon didn't have any features except HD calling and VoLTE. I worked with Verizon tech support forever, they couldn't figure it out. They indicated it was a Samsung issue. Samsung said it was a Verizon issue. I sold it on swappa then got a Verizon branded one because I need WiFi calling and texting.
I really hope my unlocked S10 plus isn't the same.

You could've flashed the VZ fw onto the U1. I converted my TMO Note to U1/XAA for better battery. Knox isn't tripped by signed packages.

I think Video Calling and Visual Voice Mail are for Post-Paid accounts only. I'm on Pre-Paid.
Plus I can use one of several other apps to video call, so I don't miss it. VoLTE and WiFi calling work great.
I can confirm that Wi-Fi calling IS indeed working on my unlocked S10+ on Verizon. Imagine that! The only thing I'm missing is Verizon's native video calling but that feature is so useless that it's not even worth mentioning.
Also, this thread is helpful describing all the features that work on Verizon:

Unlocked sprint LG V40 good for Verizon/GSM carriers?

Hi, I was wondering if an unlocked Sprint LG V40 is good for any other US carriers? any band restriction? Many Thanks.
As far as I know I have the full V40 ThinQ LM-V405UA network unlocked and factory unlocked version and it works well with ATT and T-Mobile as well with sprint am not sure if it will work with Verizon because as you know Verizon and Sprint do NOT like to support each other's phones even though they are in most cases IDENTICAL in every way.
I did do a check on verizon BYOD site and it says Mine is NOT compatible with there system as I had guess it would say that.

Hi Zxhwk, do you know if T-Mobile Wifi Calling is working and do you get full 4G LTE speed on T-Mobile? I don't know if there are some bands missing for T-Mobile 4G LTE.

I'd really like to know this as well.
LM-V405UA is way cheaper used than a LM-V450TAB!
I'm using unlocked sprint with Verizon network, works fine except advanced calling when you use your data together with the call. Spring uses different technology for that which does not work on Verizon. Also voice mail notification does not work. Otherwise no issues
Can the Verizon image be flashed to the sprint hardware (which appears to be identical) to get the Verizon advanced calling features?

Yes you can flash the Verizon KDZ
Can I replace the motherboard from a Verizon or AT&T LG V40 with a T-Mobile one? I ask because the T-Mobile LM-V405TA can't be rooted and it would be cheaper to buy a motherboard than a whole nother phone.

[Q] Is this normal ? 4G to 3G to H+ when calling?

I have a unlocked s10+ with a ATT sim card, when I try to make a call, the HTE network symbol changes to a lower speed and eventually H (edge), however the call does go through?
Just curious if anyone else was seeing this ?
Thanks in advance!
Its normal if you have VoLTE disabled or if it isn't available. You can check in settings > connections > mobile networks and check if you have VoLTE enabled.
Don't see it under those options, thanks for the reply !

Ask your provider to re-provision VoLTE setting to your SIM. Also sometimes you may have to wait for an update for he settings to get applied. Happened to me on my S7. Carrier had activated VoLTE but phone s/w didn't support it. After an update, everything worked.
data is limited to H or 3G (if you are lucky) during calls
thats normal as the phone is using bandwidth for voice calls and cannot offer same data speeds
4G is all about data transfers so you would never really make a call over 4G it will always be over H
ATT doesn't allow VoLTE on the unlocked version. You will need to flash the carrier rom to enable it.
Appreciate everyone's feedback, I spoke to my carrier, and they (Level 2 Tech.) claimed that they (ATT) and Samsung were working on a device performance update, but were not sure of the release time, I will see if they can address this issue, else will need to reflash with carrier rom

I recently switched to ATT and I have VoLTE on my S10e unlocked exynos. Had it on T-mobile too. I have a VoLTE switch under Connections>Mobile Networks. Snapdragon maybe different, but it definitely works on a stock unlocked device.

I have LTE during voice calls. Your phone/carrier may not give you this option, but others have it.
At&T doesn't fully support unlocked phone learned that the hard way when i bought my 1st unlock note 8. Internet was slow same signal your getting H+ no wifi calling it was a mess returned it and bought an At&t note.

Curious, what made you go for a Exynos phone? I thought they were inferior to the SD versions and LTE bands missing for the USA

Future custom roms, root. The exynos version isn't missing any LTE bands that I know of. I get great coverage and speed. I don't know how they are inferior to SD. Performance and battery life are good.
Unlocked U1 devices will not get VoLTE or VoWifi with AT&T. Some have had luck flashing the AT&T firmware and CSC on prior generations, but there wasn't a guaranteed way to make this work.
If you need these features, youre best off buying the AT&T branded version, or buying an international phone that enables VoLTE without requiring carrier validation. (Which will likely work)

If your provider supports VoLTE, then you can as voice is transmitted as VOIP call via LTE network. You should see VoLTE icon next to 4G icon if your provider supports it and is provisioned to your SIM card.
