[Q] Sim/Network Unlocking help

Hey, I've been trying for a few hours now to unlock my X8. The last method I tried, which I found on this forum, was simply unlocking the bootloader via flashtool, which was said to be able to unlock sims. However, I can't connect to a network using my second sim card, as before: nothing's changed.
My phone is rooted, it's a 10 model (so no danger, seemingly), and I've downloaded Omnia but that'll cost me almost 20 to get an unlock, so I'd prefer to do it myself if at all possible. Cheers.
EDIT:
After searching more topics, I've heard mixed things about unlocking - some say it's impossible for free, some say it can be done if I flash a new ROM, others say what I've already done should be enough (and it clearly isn't). Can anyone confirm/deny that flashing a custom ROM could unlock my phone?

[Q] Rooting Moto X

Ok so sorry if this has already been posted but I can't find anything. This is my first attempt at rooting. I am trying to root my 2014 Moto x. I am on US cellular so I believe the model is XT1093. Not sure though as this seems to be missing from settings in lollipop. I tried a root tutorial for xt1097 but did not work. There is no OEM unlock setting in my Developer options. I think I have to unlock my bootloader through Motorola but havn't been successful.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andrew
I've got the same problem here I think it's a US Cellular problem with what they eliminated from lollipop but I can't be sure looking everywhere but can't find any answers. I wish we could get some help with this though would love to unlock and root this thing.
Yea, I think your right about it being a US Cellular thing. No one else seems to have the problem and US Cellular is a unique model number (XT1093 vs 1095 or 1097). Iv tried to unlock the bootlader through motos web cite which should work but I'm having some difficulties. I entered the info from my device, it said it was able to be unlocked and gave me the unlock key. but when I entered the key I got an error. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or they are.. Still working on it..

What command are you using to unlock your bootloader with the key? And what error are you getting?
I've tried the unlock method from Motorola. It all works until it prompts you to check the box in developing. options that says unlock oem functions. On the 1093 in lollipop the dev. option is not there. Also tried the tool kit in this forum that is made for non pure phones... It works great... even tells you your phone is unlocked but it doesn't finish. What I mean is it doesn't reboot your phone and the phone is still locked. Really frustrating ? Any help or ideas are very welcome. PLEASE HELP!
Is there a way to root the phone without unlocking? Cause if we could... We could try a different rom and see if from there we could find the unlock box in the developer options.

There's no such thing as "Unlock/ Unlock OEM functions" in developer options, in any ROM, ever.
Just found this.. Apparently Nexus 6 & 9 have this additional step to unlock the bootloader. I didn't have to do this while unlocking my device whilst on lollipop. So I'm gonna assume it's possible to unlock the bootloader on your device if this option is missing from the Developer Options..
Follow the procedure on motorola's website to unlock the bootloader and report back with the error you see on the online tool, or the actual device.
P.S - voids your warranty, unless you have a dev device
It doesn't give an error per say... It tells you to go to dev options and check the box or click on the option to unlock oem. Of course it's not there so the program will not execute the unlock. It says waiting for device....

Has there been any more insight on this?
After updating to 5.1, OEM unlock is in developer options now

Can I Root Without OEM Unlock Option available?

I Dont want to wait 7 for OEM Unlock Option available, Can I Root now? If, How?
AFAIK Unlocked bootloader is a must, so no..Im waiting too...so welcome to the 7 days waiting club.
Unfortunately you need OEM unlock to flash custom binaries so you have no choice but to wait like everyone else who has the 7 day RMM issue.

Bootloader Unlock Code Questions

Is there any simple and fast way to get a Bootloader Unlock Code?
I already spent a bunch of money on the Phone and only found some quite untrustable shops i can actually buy unlock codes?!
What is this? Why not just some open Bootloader policy like other brands or an unlock program like xiaomi has?
I just want to root my Phone to get some extra functionality like Titanium Backup, i always used it to port my Apps and Data to a new phone..
best regards
Flo
Bootloader codes are not available at any cost right now. The sites you've found will not be able to provide you a code, they will only take your money.
So basically there is no way at all to get rid of the bootloader lock and root this phone, right?
Gnah, that means i'm forced to use this phone without my settings, app(data) and root.
Is this the same reason why there are still no custom roms? Is there any hope for custom roms?
I doubt there's gonna be any custom roms.

SM-920V Bootloader unlock / TWRP

I've been reading and it seems like the Verizon Note 5 cant have its bootloader unlocked or have Odin install TWRP for a custom rom, but the reason im making this thread is i have the OEM option in dev mode able to be toggled on. If i can turn that on does that mean i can actually unlock the bootloader or is it just letting me turn it on but it doesnt acually do anything? And if i can i dont see a TWRP listed for this phone, can i use one of the other versions?
I have the same question.
Same here???
