Any Custom ROMs that are REALLY STABLE? - P8lite General

Seriously is there's any Custom ROM that doesn't lag while gaming, gangbang my battery with useless processes, doesn't hang up calls by itself.
Briefly I'm looking for a rom that I can use as my daily driver higher than Marshmallow.

I thing You don't find any rom higher than marshmallow. Some stable builds have also some bugs.

I got tired with this device...
Gonna buy xiaomi mi a1. No need to flash any custom roms cuz of pure android.
I recommend you Omni Marshmallow. Fast, stable and battery life is very good.

Well, most of them are stable, but they suffer from a lot of bugs and issues. The only ones that work flawless are those Stock modified ones from Persona.

I'm just bored of this IOS rip-off interface (EMUI) so if I'm gonna install a custom rom i prefer it not to be a Modified EMUI one, and sadly custom kernels that we have now only support EMUI.

Marshmallow stable roms: Omnirom 6.0, Cm13, Lineageos 13, And pac-rom works fine to me.
Nougat stable roms: DotOS,Omnirom 7.1, LOS14.
Oreo stable roms: Nothing ( there's only 1 but have so many bugs)
This is my personal opinion only and you can try them but follow the instructions and if havent signal and wifi try installing fisrt another stock rom L21,l23 etc.

I'll let you know after I fully test the ROM but so far battery life was not so bad.

RR if u want Nougat
Persona78's rom if you want Marshmallow
Firmware B203, it has Android Lollipop but it has a good battery life @DarkJoker360 can confirm it

No way guys, if omx bug will exist no custom roms are stable

RROS 7.1 ROM TEST 1-1-2018
**Provided test is compared with device hardware specifications and stock ROM along with how the custom ROM should function**
_
Battery life: 6/10
Battery was disappointingly way worse than EMUI battery consumption testing using system panel 2 gave results that there was a large power percentage that is consumed by "unaccounted" which means that ROM is incapable of managing power consumption in a proper way, other major consumers were "Google Services" and "kernel"
Regardless of who's developing this rom Resurrection remix is known to bring performance higher than stock and with the lowest battery consumption possible however in this "Unofficially developed" ROM battery was a real TURN OFF.
-
_
Performance: 8/10 is forgivable
Performance didn't really change smoothness was all around and playing asphalt8 on medium graphics was lag free, video playback was not bad tested original gallery player and performance on MX player also Xplayer there was no noticable frame drops the only problem here is that the device overheats really quick either if you're gaming or playing videos.
-
_
Ux 10/10
Gives your device pixel feel and it's got OMS so you can install overlays "themes" from substratum and have unlimited cool looks for your device.
-
_
Features 10/10
ROM gives you the complete known features of RROS I didn't get to test them all but from what I've seen I don't think there's anything buggy or missing.

Overall stability 9/10
There was no sudden crashes related to bad coding while using this rom stability was just as good as EMUI.

For you it s stable? I have the maximum respect for all dev here but the rom for me is not stable, there is omx bug, no video recording with stock camera, video playback with lags, video recording with footej in 1080p laggy, YouTube 720p60 laggy and camera bugged on WhatsApp video calls.
It s a personal opinion. Maximum respect for all users and devs.

By stability I mean sudden crashes and compatibility with older apps, video recording and playback is categorized with performance, I haven't had any issues with YouTube or whatsapp video playback works very well and hardware composer works smoothly, I am sorry I didn't mention recording in performance test but it is considered.
I'm sure @surdu_petru can fix this in future updates.
By the way can you please provide link to the mentioned lollipop ROM with good battery life please?

Few questions concerning Resurrection Remix

Hi everybody,
as I'm new to all these flashing custom ROMs stuff, I would like to get answers to some questions concerning Resurrection Remix and the OnePlus 3T.
First of all, how stable is this ROM on said Smartphone? Comparable to Oxygen OS? Maybe even better?
Is the camera-quality as good as stock Oxygen OS?
Are OTA Updates provided or do I have to manually update new updates of Resurrection Remix?
Do I have to pay attention to something when flashing it on my vanilla OnePlus 3T (no root, just out-of-the-box)?
Thanks in advance!
The RR rom on the OP3T is awesome. Very stable, more than stock I'd say. Definitely feels smoother and faster. I made the OP3T into a near identical pixel experience (I had one). Battery life anecdotally seems to last longer. Like I said, it's awesome.
Camera is simply not as good and if you prioritize the camera this ROM is probably not for you. Photos are clear when gotten just right and the image quality is there after a separate file you need to flash, plus you can get the stock OP3T camera minus a few features (HDRa) and HD video recording at 60FPS I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But focus and shutter speed suffer, a lot.
I ran into a few apps that would not work properly, like Duo and a few others plus other XDA members mentioning apps don't work. This for me was a deal breaker. Had it not been for Duo, I'd still be on it. My family uses this extensively.
But.... This has to be expected. It's development after all. The customization options are amazing. I really like RR rom on this op3t. I'd say try it out.
RR is my favorite ROM on OP3T - it has tons of features and always works reliable. I update about every two weeks.

I tried today ZeNiTy-Resurrection-Remix-N-[EAS]-[OMS]-[Optimized]-[3/3T] by ZeNiXxX, i think it's better for camera (OOs camera)
Reliable? Yes. As reliable as stock.
Camera? Eh, no. You lose slow motion video, HQ and you kinda lose HDR.
Ota? No. You have to flash. But you don't have to lose your data, you can dirty flash updates.
There are tutorials on how to flash stuff and what to look out for.
With the exception of the camera, the RR Rom is awesome and has tons of customization options. My favorite is the ability to even customize the carrier logo and battery status indicator. Super stable and buttery smooth.
Thanks a lot for your advices! Think I will stay with OxygenOS as camera-quality is pretty important for me.
Camera quality is important to me as well, so I tried out Oxygen-based FreedomOS. It's a great compromise between stock OxygenOS while still having some custom features. You don't get all the customization that you get with Lineage or RR, but you do get a few nice things, plus you can get uninstall OxygenOS default apps if you plan on replacing them with Google Apps. So far it's been my go-to.
I would personally say CM 13 is better than RR, CM 13 is MM based rom and all the apps including xposed are supported and theme engine is also available. unlike RR, camera is also good in CM13, battery life is also excellent about 7 to 9 hours of Screen on Time can be expected. I used RR for couple of weeks, there are of course bugs which will irritate us, you can opt CM13 in my opinion. If you want Anddoid N for the sake of having latest version, you can opt RR.

Roms with the best battery life?

Greetings I have the x527, I tried to use LeEco's UI didn't like it feels like a crappy version of MIUI and EMUI, switched to MIUI had amazing battery life but the notifications were so broken, now I switched to Darkness Re-Defined Official.
Can you guys tell me a good room with a decent battery life and not a broken camera which crashes so often it feels like I don't have one at all? I dislike using apps like Greenify they just give me notification problems. I would like to push the SOT to at least 5 and a half hours. Any suggestions?

Use mokee, bcz the ROM is stable and has inbuilt app to hibernate processes when they are not in use. This will give you an amazing battery backup without compromising any notification. Camera is not stable in any ROM as all are based on lineage and the source is codeworkx. So until he gets it fixed you can use open camera.

I haven't use Cosmic - OS so I can't compare with it.
Currently I'm using AEXmod OREO by DennySPB. It really stable as daily drivers and get routine weekly update, some people report that this ROM doesn't have VOLTE support, I can't verify it because VoLTE not supported at my place.
Sorry for my language too amazing for understanding. [emoji28]

JDCteam 7.1.2 wins hands down as far as speed (and stability) go. I've tried several other roms and always kept coming back to JDC. It's the fastest and most fluid rom by far, and it's bug free. There is also oreo beta version that is equally fast and fluid, but it's still beta and doesn't have all the features so I'm sticking with 7.1.2 as a daily driver. There is also bb kernel for JDC which I have tried but didn't notice a big difference in performance or battery between stock kernel that comes with JDC rom, so I am using stock. Newer firmware as well (v7.12.14 currently).
I am surprised that people here often recommend some roms that either are not fully functional (PA 7.3.1 doesn't have call volume adjuster for example), or that are utterly slow (latest AEX 7.1.2 for example, very laggy). I don't mean to bash the mentioned roms, I respect the people that develop them, but I wouldn't recommend them as daily drivers.

Whats your opinion on LOS? I have used LOS several times and briefly Mokee Rom. But I kept coming back to MIUI Developer. Is JDC better than LOS at present. I use only one phone so stability is a huge concern.
Great if you can share screenshot of this rom for comparing to the stock one.

Yes. From my experience JDC is more fluid than LOS and LOS based roms, and I have not experienced any instability so far.

I almost forget with JDC Nougat, it's been long time since I open xda for searching ROM, it's good nougat ROM with minimal costumization.
Yes the latest official AEX with stock kernel not so good, try with Nagatobimaru kernel and you will get good performance.
What I mean in my post is AEXmod by DennySPB, It does not release at xda but at telegram. Maybe you can try, for first time reboot it little bit slower because app optimization, but after reboot it gives me good performance and battery life comparing with nougat based ROM.

last time I used PA ROM, I didn't noticed any annoying bugs, it's stable for daily use.
But it only has little costumization.
For battery life, any nougat ROM have almost same battery life, just little difference 30 minutes SOT usually.

Which ROM do you suggest for battery life? My Mi5 is a year and a half old and the screen time is only 4h on LOS, on a youtube video of 15 min the battery discharge of 5%, is that normal? PS. The bringhtness is set to 30%
I just tried dot os, and im in love with it!! It almost as same as jdc in term of speed, i hope it got a final update where the bugs is all gone, i found a tiny bugs that is not affect performance such as cannot change user's pic, setting in dot extras forced closed when tried to turn off camera sound, and many settings that require to be turned off and on before it works properly, but this is the best rom since JDC in my opinion, hmmmm, havent tried that rr tho, is it so different from that laggy official one?
What I can say, since I want a light but full working ROM, is to go with Xiaomi.eu ROM which has all Miui functions without unnecessary app and battery life, speed, ram management are way better. Unlike other ROM you have not to fix many things not working and set stuff. For example many roms got problems with camera (front or back) so you have to find a solution and since I want things already working I put Xiaomi.eu ROM on my phone and I can be safe.
But actually I'm thinking to try Miui 7 last version because it was the fastest and with better battery consumption. It misses a lot of new features which slow the phone.

I should say that I agree with you. Best ROM considering speed and stability is the xiaomi.eu rom. But LOS and JDC Nougat ROMs are also stable and bug free. If you want a near stock android experience you should try one of them. LOS is better imo as they provide weekly builds. otherwise better to go with the xiaomi.eu ROM.
I have a bad image retention with my display so sadly I'll have to stick with LOS for the rest of the future of my mi5 ....

For nougat it gives max 3-4 hour SOT, because my battery has ruined without no gaming, only mobile data, WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, Facebook. With total time on 16 hour.
For OREO it gives max 4-5 hour SOT, because my battery has ruined without no gaming, only mobile data, WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, Facebook. With total time on 21 hour.

I need ultra battery backup... I use mobile data (4G) a lot... Can u suggest me any ROM even if its stock (old or new) to get SOT more than 4.5 hrs

Best rom and kernel for performance (gaming) and battery? And tons of customization?

So I've only tried OOS, Omni and LOS 15.1
I found OOS to be the smoothest but it felt a lot like nougat despite being based on Oreo.
So I tried Omni, but I found it to be laggy and there were random frame drops.
Right now, I'm on LOS 15.1, it's good but I feel it's lacking alot of customization and it isn't as smooth as OOS.
What's a good rom with great performance and battery life? And features like Always on display and vibrate from switching the alert slider?
I'm also willing to try custom kernels.
I've tried Caesium but it caused lag and freeze up issues in Pubg

Don't judge me but I'm still running Sultans. Battery and gaming are great. I have xposed and am using Gravity box and a few other modules for r customization. Couldn't be happier. No vibrate in the slider and always on display. But I can live with that. No lags in pubg and battery is between 4-7 hours depending on usage. I play pubg near a charger so that's a bit different but you get the idea.
Now, if you find a oreo rom that can compete, in interested! I will keep am eye out on this thread.

Flashed Franko Kernel on LOS 15.1 after posting this the other day and pubg definitely runs better now. There's still stuttering issues at times but it's better now.
As for battery I still get around 3-4 hours sot. Nothing special.
Use skydragon + mcd kernel.... No thermal throttling at all.... Can play pubg without any lag

MIUI 11 vs Lineage/GSI performance ?

Still have to wait to get my bootloader unlocked so figured I would ask here.
To anyone who is using a GSI and/or Lineage OS, do you notice any performance improvement, particularly in emulation?
I notice when I try to emulate some GameCube games (Mario Golf) that performance is at full 60fps for about 60-75% of the time, with seemily occasional bogdowns that get worse if any other apps are open.
Would switching to a lighter ROM result in a performance normalisation/improvement ? Have any of you noticed a gaming performance improvement?
I've been on the HavocOS 2.9 GSI for a couple of weeks now and, while I didn't notice any drastic change in game performances, the general UI is snappier and the overall speed in, let's say, opening and closing applications is definitely improved.
I tend not to game a lot on my phone, but for what it's worth I feel that compared to when I was running the stock ROM my experience on both CoD: Mobile and PPSSPP (Dragonball Z: Shin Budokai 2 and Prince of Persia: Revelations) is way more consistent: I don't experience frame drops at all and PPSSPP has no issues in mantaining a stable 60FPS with the rendering options set on 2X.
If you'd like something more specific I can try and running some tests of your choice when I'll have some time on my hands

That is awesome information thank you!!
Currently I am using Dolphin MMJ release version 10630 . Using Vulcan GPU plugin, emulated CPU speed at 70% . Everything else stock.
Playing Mario Golf Toadstool Tour. It gets some pretty hard dips around 20-30fps and then shoots back to 60. At the tee-off of some holes it hovers around 48-50fps instead of 60.
Curious to know if that can be pushed up to 60FPS with Havoc. I have tried game turbo boost mode in MIUI11 and it makes zero difference with FPS, but adding the game to the memory exception list prevents dolphin from being killed when I minimize it.
Does camera improved on custom roms?
