WiFi Calling (EE UK) -> Phone Purchased Indirectly. - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

Hello Friends,
Having Googled Up & Down accross the Interwebs, I am frankly Stumped.
The UK Mobile Network EE offers the P8 Lite (2017 Model) (PRA-LX1) with Wifi calling directly.
Until recently they had web posts saying this phone is WiFi Calling compatible whether purchased from EE or indirectly.
However this is not the case. My Version was purchased unlocked, from Carphone Warehouse UK.
I have force updated the firmware to PRA-LX1C432B191.
I cannot get the Wifi Calling option to Display (Or VOLTE)
However B191 firmware is supposed to support VOLTE & WiFi Calling.
Suspect either some custom apps or configurations exist on the EE provided phone that is not on My handset.
I am Happy to root, Mod, Unlock and try to enable this option.
Where do I start looking? Could you tell me where I can find the right firmware,
or mods, hacks or changes to enable this feature?
Why would the EE shipped phone have wifi calling but the unbranded unlocked version not?
It is the very highly strange situation.
Cheers friends, looking forward to your insights and suggestions.

WiFi calling may need to be enabled on your account by EE tech support, this used to be the case a few years back when I was a tech support agent for them.

Confirmed, wificalling is enabled on my account,
They also did a network refresh on my account.
Still cant see the option.

*bump* anyone can help me enable wifi calling feature on this device?
the rom should support it

I'm in a similar situation, although I am still stock at LX1C432B115. Can I ask how you force updated to 191?
I had a look at an EE handset and that had the build PRA-LX1C440B163 and the wifi calling menu items were visible. I had wondered whether flashing that (or the latest ee build C44?) onto the phone was possible\the easiest way to get it working.

Yes I have wifi calling. Unlocked BTU
I'm on EE
Wi-Fi calling
Did you have to enable calling on the S8? I checked an S8 (BTU) demo phone at Carphone Warehouse and could not find this option. What process did you go through with EE to get it working and are you happy with it? I cannot get a signal indoors and want to buy unlocked S8 to use use WFC.
Thanks, Mike
I am on BTU with Three - but WiFi calling is not enabled;
The XEU (UK unlocked from 3rd party seller) variant has a Wifi calling option in call settings. This works for EE but I had a new contract and Wifi calling didn't get enabled until a few days later. VoLTE didn't work at all on XEU with EE, so I installed the EVR firmware for that. Maybe try sticking the VOD firmware on yours?
For Vodafone all you need to do is call the support then ask for wifi calling issues.
Ask them to send you the configuration to update the provisioning and the wifi calling option will appear instantly.
One question to people in the UK with any Carrier unlocked Note 8. Is the RCS or Chat in your stock messages app?
Thanks
Another thing not to overlook (if you are struggling to find the settings) is where you're looking for it.
On my old N6P it used to be in the advanced WiFi settings but with the Note 8 its in the phone app. Took me a while to figure that one out!
I have sim-free Note 8 and wifi calling on EE.

[SM-N950F]: WiFi calling on oreo not working?

Have an unlocked SM-N950F BTU with a Vodafone UK SIM.
WiFi calling was working fine with 7.1.1, but after the Oreo upgrade no more.
I lost the setting after the upgrade and had to call vodafone to provision the option to my phone. I have the option under settings and it is enabled, but no WiFi calling.
Called vodafone and they say that they can't see the service being registered on their side. Tried disabled/re enable WiFi calling option on the vodafone app and no luck. Reset network settings and no luck. Shortcut Master Lite no longer works.
Any ideas? Am I the only one on this boat?
No you are most certainly are not the only one! I have been struggling with this myself. Many calls, messages and a visit to a Vodafone shop and I have got nowhere with them. Considering going to EE. I have tried:
Flashing to Vodafone CSC
Replacement SIM from Vodafone
Toggling Wifi setting in my vodafone website.
Asking Vodafone to send config messages
Texting 97888
Downgrading to Android 7.1.1 and fiddling with settings in shortcut master
None of this had made any difference. Note that wifi calling works instantly if I insert a 3 SIM.
Extremely frustrating.
Just a quick note to say that I finally got hold of someone at vodafone that understood the problem and was able to send me settings to enable wifi calling.
Thanks for sharing. Any chance you know what they did? Will give them a call this afternoon again. They said they would contact me in 24/48 hours and this was Monday. - nothing new here right?
Do you who you spoke to at vodafone who sorted the WiFi calling problem? Thanks
Still have an open case with them.

WiFi Calling

Has anyone going WiFi calling working on your Nokia 7 plus? I'm on Vodafone in the UK but have also tried an ID SIM.
I have got WiFi calling enabled by Vodafone but the option doesn't appear in the phone. I'm moving to a house with no signal so this will be pretty essential.
Any ideas?
I'm on a TA-1055 with the July patch.
Wifi calling and Volte work on BT Mobile and I suspect EE.
Vodafone seem to only allow devices purchased from them with their firmware on and I don't think they do a Nokia 7 Plus therefore it doesn't work.

Thanks @Ollie2. I have called Vodafone several times and they've always directed me to their page which lists the approved phones (Nokia 7 plus isn't one!).
I've logged a complaint as deliberately turning the function off if you haven't bought the phone from them seems to be anti-competetive and, frankly, a bad business model. I'll be leaving them for EE as soon as my contract ends.
The whole wifi calling and Volte situation on Android is a complete mess. I think the blame lies with both networks and the manufacturers.
Since Android 6 there has been a mechanism to add the correct details for Volte and Wifi calling to work without having to have a custom firmware for each network but lots choose not to utilise it.
With security updates being releases by the manufacturers having to wait for the networks to change a test their firmware seems ridiculous and networks and manufacturers should work to a standard that just works. That said I imagine that is easier said than done.
EE seem to be better than the rest but they're not perfect either.

VoLTE and WIFI calling in US

Hi everyone,
Have a global version of X5 Pro.
Trying to make VoLTE and VoWIFI working on T-Mobile in US but no luck.
No toggles in SIM settings and toggles in Phone Info are grayed out.
Any ideas to activate it?
Same with me, I started another thread or two concerning this issue but I believe it has to do with T-Mobile's VoLTE/Wifi-calling provisioning relative to the Find X5 Pro's firmware?
Of course the phone supports VoLTE and WiFi-Calling, so I'm not sure why at least the latter won't work (or at least have a toggle). If you google 'how to enable WiFi calling', most people tell you to set (or re-set) your E911 address because it's a necessary feature of WiFi calling. Ive done this on the T-Mobile website AND with a support rep on the phone, but still no toggle to enable.
I haven't found anything about this outside of XDA so perhaps it's time to submit a ticket directly to Oppo.
Edit: could anyone from the EU/UK chime in on whether they have the toggle options for VoLTE/WiFi-calling? I think we need to identify whether the problem is based on region/carrier rather than the phone.
Pulled from a recent T-Mobile forum post about the same issue (but on multiple different phones):
"In order to enable WiFi calling from an unlocked phone, there appear to be several components which all need to align perfectly. The the phone must have the physical capability, obviously a WiFi antenna. It also seems to rely on VoLTE provisioned and WiFi calling provisioned abilities.
The former carrier must have unlocked the device and its IMEI for use on another carrier.
The current carrier must have enabled WiFi calling, and also configured an E911 address.
"Exactly! The firmware in the Sprint S8 is not compatible with T-Mobile’s WiFi Calling implementation. XDA might offer some work around through flashing or root, but through normal methods, WiFi Calling on such an old device that actually has carrier specific firmware isn’t going to work with a different carrier for those feature implementations. Vodafone Germany: Custom Firmware with VF branding, but no SIM- or Netlock
VoLTE has no toggle but is activated by default, VoWiFi has a toggle and works.

LGV40 ( LM-V40SEBW) - wifi calling problems

Hi,
I'm not a technical expert and have no idea how to solve my problem. I bought my LG 3 years ago in Europe, factory unlocked.
I am pretty sure I had a wifi calling option in my phone settings before, but after VODAFONE UK (I live in the UK) did something - they disabled wifi calling, I completely lost wifi calling option. I can't find it anymore, it doesn't exist in my settings at all.
I reset my phone yesterday, and nothing changed.
I would be grateful if anyone knew how to bring back wifi calling on my phone.
Thanks!

Have you asked vodafone uk? See, wifi calling is basically controlled by 2 parts; 1) the phone having the ability 2) your carrier provisioning the sim to allow it.
So, it's not as simple as 'turn it on'. If the carrier isn't allowing it, for some reason, all you can do is change carrier.
In my case, in the states, with mint mobile (t-mo reseller), I had to go to my account settings with mint, and turn it on for my account. There was no cost involved. But there's technically nothing you can do if the sim hasn't been provisioned. That's up to the carrier.
