Screen Cracked on 2 weeks old Mate 10 :( --> Replaced by Huawei! - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Kid dropped her Toy house on my 2 weeks old Mate 10 the screen cracked and the display is partially blank. Already checked with main Huawei service center over phone, the part is available and in-stock. The Phone has One time free screen or back cover replacement with in 3 months as part of 1 year warranty. Am going to service center later today to check for eligibility failing which, I need to shell out roughly us$ 140 for screen part and labor charges. Will keep everyone updated about the Huawei Manila Philippines service Center experience.
Currently am back on my Oneplus 3T and hating the small sized screen and Camera compared to the Mate 10.

Thank you for your kind words.
Sorry about the delay in updating the status. Huawei honored their one time screen / backcover replacement with out any drama, no questions asked!
They replaced the screen/battery/entire casing/Vibration motor/earpiece/charging port!
I think they just swapped the motherboard plus cameras on to the new frame with all existing parts
I held and checked the replaced parts (in pictures) I didn't expect them to replace so many things for ease of replacement.
No Labor charges or hidden charges of any sort, all Zero charge!
All under 2 hours!
I had to go the main Huawei service center outside of Greenhills in Manila for this.
Thank you Huawei, now the Mate 10 is back to it's original mint condition! Loving it
:good:

great to hear that Huawei Philippines is doing a great job on this. I myself is also from the Philippines and this update gave me more confidence with the brand.

Great to meet another Mate 10 user in Philippines. The One time Screen or back cover replacement in Philippines is applicable to Mate 10/ Mate 10 pro for first 3 months from date of purchase only. After that regular warranty applies.
Over all, big thumbs up to Huawei Philippines!

Avoid buying from Expansys Hong Kong

It's the first time I am posting this kind of thread... But I would like to avoid others to run into the same problems as I did
Since I live in Asia I thought that for repair/replacement issues I'd better order my phone in the region. I picked Expansys HK since they seemed to have a good reputation
The original purchase went well, I got delivered quite quickly and was very happy about the service (Sending email when goods are shipped, etc, etc...)
The problem is after only 2.5 months of usage my HTC Touch Pro 2 failed on me: the screen was scrambled (white, red and blue dots all over the screen). This without any particular reason (I treat my phone correctly). The phone was still working, but definitely the graphic output was dead. I could receive calls though and output to an external screen
After only 2.5 months of use, without any bad treatment of the phone you just think "**** happens, just bad luck, I'll ship it and should get back quickly another unit or a quick repair"
I waited 2 months. I had to call and email several times to push and get feedback. I the understood the phone was shipped from Expansys HK to Expansys UK. Then Expansys UK snet it to HTC UK. Where the phone was probably shipped back to China... (This I dont know, just personal speculation). I cant believe it takes 2 full months to fix a phone. Maybe expansys let it rot somewhere and only woke up after several complains. Maybe it actually needed 2 months of manpower to fix (In which case I'd say that HTC had better give me a new one)
Anyway terrible management of the issue. Bad communication with the customer with no care at all (btw what I am supposed to do for 2 months without a phone...). I received my phone today with not even a short letter of apology for teh 2 months delay, or explanation of what went wrong with the phone (I guess I deserve this at least. I paid 800 USD a few months earlier for taht phone no ? Just the phone simply put in a tiny bubble bag. My screen protector is torn at several angles, I'll need to buy a new one. Expansys didn't even think as a "present" to put one to replace the one that was scrapped (By them ? By HTC ?). HTC happily upgraded to Win 6.5. Cool ! But all my contacts, emails, settings, etc... were erased
What to say ? Nothing... Just don't buy from there or if you do cross fingers your phone won't break. Maybe I am too harsh, maybe you get the same experience with other shops... I just know my next purchase wont be from there (My previous phone was an HTC Hermes bought in Japan, I had issues once, it took 1 week to fix. Night and day...)
thank god you got it back, in india we are not so lucky at times.

Reslly ?? Waoh !! From Indian shops or whenever you order abroad ?
I bought my TyTN in Switzerland (not Expansys), after one month my cam had problems so I sent it for repairs. I had to wait for one month untill they sent it back. As far as I could see, device was sent to England for repair and then sent back.
Cheers

hi~
thanks for reporting on us the expansys, but it make me WILL buy one from them.
Now it's 2020, I wanna a redmi note 9 pro (india) aka redmi note 9 s (global), codename curtana.
In hong kong we only have joyeuse. in which it's less popular in XDA, as curtana is sell in india and outside india,
yet joyeuse is someplaces + not in india.
expansys is almost the only way I can buy a curtana, with some qurantee.
1. you quranteed expansys ships good product AT first at least. Hope it's sealed, look brand new and not touched
by others
2. you quranteed they provide repair service.
For the duration, it's reasonable,
I live in hongkong which is 1 hr far from china,
but at one time I sent a US 100 tablet to another dealer and send back to China,
it DID take a WHOLE MONTH.
it's the speed for repair.
two months for you is reasonable, as you see 1hr from china need 1month period.
It's a little bit overpriced for me however.
in HK the joyeuse cost usd200, with 1 yr warranty.
expansys curtana cost usd200 but only 6mo warranty, they charge u usd30 more for a total of 1yr warranty.
anyway thx for the report on expansys

Well it's been 11 years... I have no clue how they currently perform.
I live in HK too and there are now a lot of other convenient shops here anyway. Also international shipping has become cheaper and much more convenient so lots of options these days to order a phone or a tablet.

Cracked digitized lens, best solutipns?

Hello everyone,
Would like to share my story. I have 2 hd2's got one and was very pleased with it running winmo on it, then Android came along and I decided to get another one so I would be able to have both winmo and Android phones. And recently I have dropped 1 whilst getting out of the car and the lens got cracked its terrible to look at, few days later dropped 2nd and cracked it as well as the 1st. Now I've got 2 of them and they both cracked and have no insurance. Need to fix it but there are so many ways and places in the market so I am confused a bit. I live in London and I found local HTC repair center where I've been told to pay 125 quid to repair 1 handset. Seems awfully expensive. Could you guys share how you sorted this sort of issue please.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
There's an assembly/disassembly video on youtube from HTC that someone uploaded.
I bought a replacement glass from aliexpress because I had a coupon, but check eBay as well, prices are always fluctuating. Expect to pay around $50ish for the glass, $100 if you want the whole glass/LCD unit (less of a hassle to install)
I'll update with more once I get the glass, which might take a while, seeing as it's coming from China.

Asus customer service is amazing!

I sadly broke my Nexus 7's(2013) screen and digitizer in less then 5 days. Shameful I know, but anyways I contacted Asus since there wasn't anything else I could do. Their customer service set me up with a representative within 5 minutes. I explained my problem and he told me that they can fix it but it may cost me. There wasn't another option so I said okay. So they sent me an email with a form and told me to ship my Nexus to a Asus repair facility. I did and within in a week they sent me it back and fixed the screen and digitizer for FREE! Yes free well unless you count the shipping which was a small price to pay for fixing the device that wasn't their fault in the first place. Anyways if any of you have problems contact Asus I'm pretty sure they can help you. I'm so happy thought I lost my Nexus.
Very true, they sometimes replace your tablet & give it new one...I RMA'ed 2 times ,both times they replaced parts & also gave me new battery ...

Nice to hear something like this. The most of companies aren't so generous
You got lucky on this one. Plenty of people have good and bad experiences, but this one probably comes out on top of what I've heard on the positive end.

which country are you from? & where is ur sercive centre located/
Asus is never that generous in Kolkata , India where I stay.
Anyways enjoi ur new nexus
In Serbia they are even better !
After only 1 month of my normal Nexus 7 usage, some weird stain appeared on my screen (something like a fingerprint made of dead pixels):
PICTURE
I called Asus customer service, explained my problem, read my serial number, and after that they just told me to pack it in a box and write some number on it (inquiry ID), they will come and pick it up from me (i gave them my address). ONE day later I received a call from a guy who told me he is outside my house, and to bring him my tablet (it was Friday).
6 days later (Thursday) same guy called me to say he is outside my house again, he brought me my tablet back (fixed, of course)

stuck or dead pixels...samsung warranty?????

So I purchased two note 8s directly from Samsung. The first one I purchased was pre-ordered back in late August and II was purchased at the end of November. This is very strange but within days of each other, both note 8s have pixel issues. The one I preorderd acted up first. Top left of screen(in the quick tiles area) I have a small cluster of pixels that vary from blue, red, green.
The 2nd device has one pixel on the top right (quick time area) that's red. Very annoying indeed.
My question is: did anyone have this issue that purchased it from samsung and did they cover it under warranty as defective? Samsung Obviously won't tell me if it's covered as I have to send both devices in to them for evaluation. Both phones are in pristine condition without a scratch/Mark on them. I keep my devices mint. Worse case I'm sure I'll have to pay a deductible through premium care which I think is crap. Especially on the 2nd device being I only received the phone about 30 days ago.

It is covered under warranty by Samsung as follows >
In case the dead pixel is still present then Samsung has a working policy on this.
“ The Dead pixel warranty applies when your mobile phone display contains certain dead pixels as per below table within the standard warranty period on your mobile phone display which SAMSUNG will replace/replenish your defective mobile phone display."
For a Super AMOLED Display, the claimable dead pixel count is 3 or over 3.

Normal international warranty is always 12 month, unless for Google Pixel and LG which has extended their warranty to 24 monthjs
well I filed a claim with Samsung the other day and mailed it in on Tuesday. 7 to 10 business days turn around. they paid for shipping. we will see how this goes.

no, they give you the option to check for status updates on your account. right now it says shipping label created. the shipping is the time consuming part here. I shipped it out on the 26th, they received it the 29th which was a Friday and they aren't open on the weekends(service department), then new years on Monday, received a notification on Tuesday morning that it was in the technicians hands for review, received a notification at 2:00 pm that phone was repaired(description of repair was: examine display, Replaced LCD and checked in QC zero charge) and being prepped for shipping. this morning I received a tracking number but has not shipped yet. so far, I am satisfied with the service and communication, normally Samsungs Customer service blows at least with new orders. I'll UPDATE when I get the device back and report the grade on the overall repair

It should be a replacement not a repair. I personally wouldn't want my phone opened up when its a brand spanking new phone. I would want a new one. However if you are happy with the outcome then all is sweet. Just make sure they do a clean job

Yep, they don't like to replace - if they do it's generally a refurb...
I'd prefer to keep the original, at least you know what the problem is/was with that.
A refurb is just potluck...

Yes do a close inspection. If you notice anything that you are not happy with immediately contact Samsung to report the problem. You don't deserve a phone that is not 100%. You pay premium price for this phone so you deserve it in the best condition

Cracked Screen - Replacement Source?

So, managed to drop my new Pixel 5 this morning after never once damaging my Pixel 2XL over the past few years...
Does anyone know of anywhere I can buy an OEM replacement in the UK please? I've seen I can have it repaired for £200 using Google's preferred repair partner, but I'm able to do the work myself so was hoping the screen (and adhesive) would be available from somewhere.
Thanks in advance.
a little bit late.... ok this is sad i feel with you.....
usually i order stuff like phone parts at AliExpress. But i just discovered, that the P5 replacement screen is really expensive :-(
~~150,- Eur - thats really hard.....maybe it is because the P5 is a new phone.
