Moto G4 Play receiving 7.1.1 in India - Moto G4 Play Guides, News, & Discussion

Last night I got a notification for the software update we all were waiting for. It was Android 7.1.1 update for the Moto G Play in India.
The update was ~635MB and took some time to install. In the mean time, I tried to capture the OTA link but I was unable to extract it. Since my device was not rooted, I had to rely on limited methods. I looked on xda and found that someone asked to use logcat command in terminal or take a bug report. In both ways the file I received did not contained any link to some OTA file. Although, there was reference to OTA update in the bug report.
Anyways, here are the screenshots from the update. Hope this will rollout to everyone soon. :fingers-crossed:

Waiting for this so long but still I didn't get any updates yet. I am from Pakistan. So lets hope it will reach to me soon

Hi friend, It is your firmware Retail US?

I received update in Pakistan last night but after updating my device I can't access network. No calls and messages service. How to fix this?

Redmi Note Indian Thread [Pricing, Availability, Reviews, Support and more]

Hello XDAers,
Since there is an Indian thread in almost every device forum, I thought I would create one for the Redmi Note since it's already launched in India and sales begin from December 2nd, 2014.
Pricing - Rs.8999/- for Redmi Note
Rs.9999/- for Redmi Note 4G
Availability - Flipkart exclusive from 2nd December through flash sales. Also priority passes are available if you participate in a small quiz on Mi site.
Please guys keep the thread free from off topic discussions.

Hi blackyz, what method did you use to root version 38?
For anyone who have issues to update/download the version 38, do the following
Go here, download the rom (version 38): http://en.miui.com/download-218.html#360
Then follow this to update it: http://en.miui.com/thread-17988-1-1.html
Root method:http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=66833&extra=page=3&mobile=2
My Redmi Note got delivered by Flipkart Yesterday, its running v39 however first time I left phone connected, I suspect it downloaded v38 to a folder
called "Downloaded Rom" I think this folder came up after initial use
However phone is running v39 and I've rooted it already straight after the unboxing.

Hate to say it but it's most likely only the start of them being banned in many countries.

Does anyone know why even the latest v38 update is build on top of android 4.2.2 when it's almost time for lollipop for most of the new devices.
I mean it should have been KitKat right out of the box. I had high hopes from the v38 update but it kinda disappointed me :/.
Btw is there any chance of KitKat officially in the near future?

asharma7: sorry my Bad, I wrongly posted.
Running JHDMIBH38.0 as it was a OTA update.
Don't know why such a good hardware is so BADLY done on the OS side.
the included 4.2.2 is still buggy, MX Player and many apps crashes on various settings.
Xiaomi is too hesitant to publish the Kernel Sources and that's the prime reason why custom Roms are still not available for this beast.
They have announced earlier that kernel source would be available around new year, lets hope they do that so developers can PORT other available
ROMS and make this device more customization friendly, especially if CM12 gets ported, I'll stick to that without a second thought.

[Q] Anyone with dual-sim European Moto G 2014(XT1068) received lollipop OTA?[see pg3]

I'm getting very little and conflicting information on the matter. I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong with my phone. This is because I get the sense that the European user base for this model is incredibly small and I fear Motorola may have just forgotten about us.
I would need someone who has a XT1068 (that's the dual-sim version) and who brought it in Europe to confirm whether he/she has received any lollipop update through regular OTA.
I understand Indian users have gotten lollipop for at least a few weeks now, and that you can flash lollipop on XT1068 whether European version or not.
Also if you're someone who has kept track of different OTA's for the different models/regions, please let me know if I should start being impatient or if you have educated guesses about when European dual-sim users should expect an OTA. Thanks.
If you read post #71 and #83 here you´ll see ,that there still is no release date for the european XT1068 Dual-Sim:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...1-begun-to-roll-to-moto-g-2014-t2978556/page8

I was a nexus 5 user 2 weeks back and among the first to run android 5.0 lollipop (obviously i flashed factory image , prior to that i used dev preview )
I never had the memory leak but yes the battery life became awful....wifi battery drain was also present and pretty random in nature... So exchanged it wid my not to geeky bro as i needed a dual sim phone.
If moto fixes those issues...then i guess the wait for the update is worth...
I'm convinced it will be a worthy update! ?

Thanks for everybody giving his own perspective. It's nice to see there are others running "reteu" who are all waiting for lollipop.
No update in Portugal yet.
I'm also with "reteu" and KitKat - XT1068. See there: https://forums.motorola.com/posts/edc7501cc4?page=21
I think that is good news. Also today I receive a few updates from Google Play and right now the launcher app drawer and folder is like Lolipop launcher. Maybe Lolipop is near.
I'm in Spain, I opted-in to become a tester in MFN, but I haven't recieved any updates.
Guess we are going to wait a little longer here in Europe...

No update in Belgiuml yet.

Nexus 6 5.1 OTA Update Start?

Has the 5.1 update been pushed out to phones yet? I know we can manually download and install but it seems like this update is taking longer than usual to be sent out to phones for those of us too lazy to manually update.

Hi, here is a thread for general information and Q&A regarding OTA updates:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2992919

T-mobil MRA68K to MRA68X

I have a Nexus 6 bought directly from Motorola but with a T-mobil sim from my
last phone. I'm running the MRA68K factory image of 6.0., and have never been
offered an OTA update.
Let me tell you what I THINK I know.
Although MRA68K does include the T-mobile band 12 and wifi calling feature,
for some reason T-mobil was not happy with it due to some bug revealed
in testing. MRA68X is the release they are happy with, and is what T-mobil
users running 5.1.1 are getting OTA. This OTA is not usable for phones running
any of the 6.0 release. There currently is no factory image for MRA68X.
Here is what I don't know:
- Will MRA68X be eventually released as a factory image.? Usually that comes
before not after the OTA. If not it would seem the need to flash a 5.1.1 image
to be able to take the MRA68X OTA.
- Is the T-mobil specific release a one time thing, or will there be a sequence of
T-mobil specific releases as in 5.X?
- I presume that when the phone checks for an update it bases it on the carrier's
SIM. Just curious, is it Google downloading the update but subject to the carrier's
instructions?

I have run all the MRA builds (K, N, R) on T-Mobile and they all support and have fully functioning WiFi calling, Band 12 support, and VoLTE. Not sure what's specific about X but I decided to switch to it just because it's "official".

For X I flashed the factory ProFi 5.1.1 then sideloaded the 48I to 58X OTA.
T-Mobile and ProFi will both use X.

According to the T-mobile document
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-18109
It's only the L* releases that can be updated with the OTA.

I don't see where it says *only* L releases get the update but it may just be a matter of semantics.
"To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:"
^^^ I take this to mean that you must have at least L to get the update. If you are on M already then you still meet that requirement. That's just my thoughts though. Dez is always in the know and that's what he said. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I noticed that your signature says "Nexus 6 rooted". If that is in fact the case, you will not be able to install any OTA. Neither via sideloading nor "over the air". The installer looks at the system file, and if there is ANY change from stock (including being rooted), it will abort the install. I've had it fail, even with a couple of apps frozen.
It looks like the document
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-18109
has been updated. It now list MRA68K as eligible for the OTA to MRA68X. Earlier
it just listed the L* releases.

TMO's update site is questionable in and of itself.

I am unable to receive OTA updates AT&T updates as I moved from US to India.

I have moved to India from US and since then I haven't received any updates to android system software. I am still using KitKat when all discussions are about Marshmallow. I am unable to figure out a way to find offline copies of the updates. Could some body help me out here.
Since you still on KitKat you could root. If you don't care about that, there is a thread on here about updating from .zip file.

you could also flash 5.1.1 using Odin and the files from this thread
