Can i use same Mi account to unlock two devices? - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

As title suggests I want to know if I can use the same Mi account to unlock bootloader of Mi Max 2 as I used to unlock my redmi 3s last month. Plz reply...
I'm using the same Mi account In two devices.

I didn't need to ask for a permission again when i was unlocking my new Mi Max 2. Previously i had Redmi Note 4. Also, my sister bought the same Mi Max 2, and i used my account to unlock her bootloader. Later just deleted my account, and she created a new one for her. You can try it, you don't have anything to loose.

Thanks for brief reply. Tried to unlock mi max 2 last night with the same account in miUnlock tool and it asked me to wait for 72 hours. Hope I'll get it unlocked without any error.. *Finger crossed*

Yeah, you can unlock a device every 30 days if I remember correctly.

Bootloader successfully unlocked.

my situation is a bit different. I registered a mi account, bound the phone number for my Mi Mix to that account, applied for unlocking permission, waited 3 days then flashed the global rom to replace the China rom. No problem until I dropped and broke my Mi Mix. I have now purchased another new Mi Mix which has the China rom and I want to flash to global rom again. This new / replacement phone has the same phone number / sim card as the first phone. Do I sign in to my mi account on the new phone and apply for unlocking permission? Or should I set up a brand new mi account for the new phone. On the miui forums people are telling me I can unlock the new phone with my existing account but I would have to wait 30 days to unlock. Others on the miui forums are telling me to register a new account so I only have to wait 3 days. Any suggestions?

I'm a part of Miui Device Team and I'm curious who told you such a thing as waiting "30 days"? Maximum what could happen would be 360 hours, which is 15 days. Also, the waiting time for the permission is removed, so technically, you would now wait maybe a day or a two, maybe not even that. Don't create a new account unless you need to. Try applying for unlocking with the old account and see what happens.

Hi @craigrB , The unlock permission is binded with your MI account and can be used with any Xiaomi Devices that has a locked bootloader, Unfortunatly you will have to wait 30 days in order to unlock it using the same MI account.

And yes, I don't even know that flashing a stable ROM will reset the 30days count down, I just did it this morning, on my 20 day

From the 2nd device forward, we have to wait 30 days for each. After unlock my redmi note 5 pro, i have to wait 30 days more for unlocking my Max 2

absolutely no wait time/ or less even, if account is not changed to a new one. Problem occurs mostly if device wasnt bond to mi account at least 72 hours before the try, and that mistake sure has been giving many headaches. Now i have got myself in the crazy situation that a friend broke his device screen, has bought another, but some data wasnt sinchronized with cloud, and needs them. would be all fine and easy if it was bind to a mi account, usb debugging is off, bootloader locked, oem unlock state close, I tried all known methods, no success. Maybe there is a workaround, but .... sure not an easy way, if there is. ADB commands - all out of discussion, fastboot with locked bootloader does not allow booting to twrp either. sideloading update still work in EDL mode, so i guess that could be the only way with an "update.zip" which patches all above mentioned settings to enabled, if posssible, i dont know how to create one . Device is Redmi note 9 Pro .

Not sure if this is the right forum, so i apologize ahead for the nuisance (first time here)
My question is: i have 2 devices connected to my Mi Account. If I unlock the other device, would it affect the other one? Or not for as long as I don't enable its oem unlock? Thank you.

how to clean MI account

excuse mi5 masters, i just bought mi5 (2nd hand) after i want to try unlock bootloader it can not because it is true that the phone is stolen and already in bypas by the seller, is there any way how to clean user account MI before it or how to unlock another bootloader for mi5 that I have bought this can be on tWRP ?? please help his master
AFAIK, only if you know the original owner's Mi account credentials, login with them, log out and only then wipe. At least that's how it went when I lent my girlfriend her Mi Max 2 after using it first for a couple of days before her, or as I did with a friend's Redmi Note 3 Pro. In both cases, I had to remove the link to the previous user's Mi Account by loging in and out with it. Even a full flash + wipe with MiFlash wouldn't do the trick. They just got stuck with my Mi Account (in the Mi Max 2 case) and my friend's account (the Redmi Note 3 case) without doing that. Good luck with that, I wish I could help any better.
then from that I am confused what to do because people who sell it to me already can not be in contact and I am sure that this phone is a stolen phone

dude just do a bit of research...there are several ways
i've found some things
the first is to flash the MIUI 7 firmware, reset and put a new miui account on the phone and then flashing back to miui 8 and using a new account, if you can't flash anything, just buy a DIY flash cable for mi5
just search "bypass mi account" on youtube, there are a lot of videos
Yes master, now my phone is in a state already bypas, which is the problem here i have back and forth from miui7 and 8 but the previous user MI can not be erased, still caught and finally I can not do UBL

You need to bind your account to that phone for that stated period,
sucks i know,
you can try with other Mi Account though, since it seems the waiting time is account dependant
yesterday i try with my another older Mi Account created back around Mi3 era, and suprisingly it allow me to unlock right away :silly:

Developer options - device unlock status - bind account
New account wont do, the longer the time since your last unlock will do better
There's no count down btw

ok, it's binded and i've seen if i try to reunlock with the tool it says that i have to wait 358 hours :good: :good: so i think it's binded well.
so you suggest me to do a new account?

is there anyway to unlock bootloader without permission on miui 10?

One of my friend has redmi note 3 kenzo
It would be very helpful if someone has a trick to unlock bootloader without permission.
I think there is no need of permission for old devices for unlocking bootloader.
One of my friend has Redmi note 4X and was able to unlocked without asking for permission.
even this worked for his Redmi 3S but with 72hours of waiting time.
Just logged in into Mi unlock tool with same account as in device and your friend should be able to unlock bootloader (maybe not right away but with several hours of waiting time)
Problem isn't that
Problem is :- He is not able to add his mi account from developer option for oem unlocking.
An error occur always.

Yes, right. Log in in Mi unlock tools on PC with the same account as in the phone and then connect phone in fastboot mode but first make sure oem unlock is enable and usb debugging is turned on. ignore the account log in in phone.
just give it try.

Don't be confused. Older devices are unlockable without even applying(i am saying this on my experience) i have unlocked two of my friends Redmi 3S and Redmi note 4X without even applying to xiaomi.
never devices needs to have permission to unlock and it takes time and request can get rejected if the it does not meet their conditions.
if you have old device such as more than a year or more.
Just download and install Mi flash tools and you are good to unlock but it still shows error of 50% or stuck at 99% so you'll have to unlock after remaining hours which will show on mi unlock tools.
I just used this method to unlock my Mi Max 2, Miui 10

Its most likely server error from xiaomi as it happens many times and almost everyone faced it whoever tried to unlock i guess.
Please try again later and if possible try and connect to different WiFi network before adding account.
Also you can just give it a try by enabling USB debugging, oem unlock turned on from developers options and then just turn off your device and boot into fastboot mode and try unlocking it, regardless of adding mi account.
You should also try some different versions of mi unlock tools(preferably older version).
As i have mentioned it worked without even adding account and it took 3 days to unlock as it was getting stuck at 50% or 99% and was asking to wait for 72 hours and later it unlocked in first try so this should work for you too.
There is unofficial way to unlock bootloader please search on XDA/YouTube or some other websites.

See. This is why you should flash WITHOUT locking BL in MiFlash, if something goes wrong u can do it again but if you have locked BL, then you probably need to use EDL

Xiaomi Mi 8 lock state

Hi,
So I got just the Xiaomi Mi 8. The seller said they installed global rom thereselves and therefore I wanted to install the global rom from Xiaomi so I know I got a fresh rom with nothing added in the background.
So I used the Xiaomi Flash program and flashed it with Xiaomi Mi 8 Latest Global Stable Version Fastboot File.
Now it boots in recovery mode and says "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device".
I tried to reflash it with Xiaomi flash and it gives me an error " Erase is not allowed in Lock State".
So I tried to unlock via the Mi unlock account which tells me it can't because my account isn't signed in with the phone. Go into settings and sign in which I can't.
So I am a bit stuck here.
I read only people with special EDL accounts or Xiaomi service centers can fix this issue. Is that correct?
I live in Australia so there is no Xiaomi service center near me. I don't know anyone with a special EDL account.
What do I do from here now?
Thanks,

I am very sure you did "Flash and lock" because it is default option in Xiaomi Flash tool. Your only option is to send it to the seller for him to unlock it. Or maybe if you can boot to fastboot then you can get token from getvar command but I don't know what to do with it so you have to figure it out.
Sent from my MI 8 using Tapatalk
Yeah I did. How was I supposed to know though. The Xiaomi app tells you nothing of it. That's what I have usually selected in the past.
Seriously if this is the only way the fix it then Xiaomi just lost a long term customer. They need to warn their customers if they want to allow stores to have access to mess with the phones but no access to customers to repair that.
Unfortunately 2018 Miflash versions have default option set to flash and lock, not flash_all like before - so its easy to miss it and lock bl during flash.
You have bought chinese variant with unlocked bootloader by xiaomi dev account. Your only hope now is to... open the device, do a testpoint flash with chinese rom with Mi Account authorization and then unlock bootloader by your own Xiaomi account. Getting Mi account authorization is the hardest point here.
Due to such accidents, NEVER use any tool for this action. There are a bat file for Windows and sh file for Linux OS's included in the compressed file you've downloaded, you just need to run the desired one. It's completely closed to any accidents and you can delete those two files that will end you up with locked bootloader for further attempts.
Any idea where I can request mi account authorisation?

That's the wrong place to ask for questions. It's for devs only. Request a mod to move it to the appropriate forum.
Do you mean here or on the miui Forum site?

I got access to unlock Xiaomi phones as I had to unlock my Redmi phone some years back. Is that the same as mi authorised account? Maybe I am already authorised?

Did you bring your phone to the seller?
No. The seller is in Hong Kong. I'm in Melbourne Australia.
How can I actually check if I got an authorised account? I found a account auth in the Mi flash program and tried it and it just says my account is bind to this computer now. How useless is that? Isn't it meant to tell me if I got authorised status or not ??

actually Xiaomi is not in the fault here, as you purchase phone which intended for China, whereas you should buy the global version.
Xiaomi did due to lot of people buy chinese version and use global rom and sell it again as global version.
you supposed to search and know all risk before purchase phone which not sold officially in your country

I would say Xiaomi is at full fault. They know people flash Chinese phones to get away from all the spyware and crap that sellers put on to the phones.
People talking about bricked phones somewhere on the internet/forums does nothing to warn people. If Xiaomi knew they would brick people's phones this way then they should warn you in their MI flash program. It is just low and very disappointing as I really do like Xiaomi products but if they are just not going to support their customers or warn them basically not at all then like I said they basically lost a customer who won't be buying any of their products any more.
And what a bout all those people who bricked their phones as soon as the Xiaomi Mi 5 or which ever it was came out and there was no warning on the forums at all. Was it their fault as well?

So search the forums for people with Mi Authorised account or do you mean go to Indonesia...?
And how do I find out if my account is authorised? I think I might of authorised it some years ago but I don't know how to check.
When I tried the account_auth.exe and put my log in details in, it said verifying and then gave me this message:
" This Computer Is Bound To Your Account"
What does that mean?

like I said, why you buy chinese version in the first place? you can buy global version from country which Xiaomi sell Mi 8 officially (like India, Singapore or Malaysia). if you buy global version, you will have global rom out of the box and won't brick your phone in the first place.
if Chinese people want to flash global rom, they need to request unlock to Xiaomi which Xiaomi will explain what can bricked their phone.
actually Xiaomi never recommended their phone to be unlocked. you know when you want to modify any system which not officially supported by the manufacturer, all risk is on you right?
and Xiaomi is more friendly to enthusiast community compared to other OEM. only OnePlus and Google itself who I know is more friendly than Xiaomi.
but enough who is fault, as this already happen and you need to solve your bricked phone right?

So search the forums for people with Mi Authorised account or do you mean go to Indonesia...?
And how do I find out if my account is authorised? I think I might of authorised it some years ago but I don't know how to check.
When I tried the account_auth.exe and put my log in details in, it said verifying and then gave me this message:
" This Computer Is Bound To Your Account"
What does that mean?

what I mean is that you try to find people in that forum who have Mi Authorized Account and contact them. they can do two things, one is they lend their ID (but I think it's nearly impossible) and second is you send your phone to them and they will unlock it.
other than that you won't have others way and your phone will remain bricked
Fair enough.
Though I am sure my account is already authorised because I requested it on the Mi website maybe 2 years ago and the Mi flash app says I am "This Computer Is Bound To Your Account" which according to what I read online means my account is authorised.
If that is right, can I open the phone myself, unplug the battery, plug the USB in, connect the two test points and flash with Mi flash?
Thanks for your help.

You always can give it a shot, but if there are any Xiaomi shops in your country, the official thread says that you can hit them up for a help. Give it a try and see if you can get your phone rescued. I guess the only way to learn if your account is authorized is just trying.

from what I read, the binding to your computer doesn't mean your account is Authorized.
and what do you mean by request via Mi website? you mean you request to unlock your bootloader? if yes it's different, as I have account that can unlock bootloader but not Authorized Account.
Mi Authorized Account can flash rom without bootloader unlocked, whereas the one you request I think is permission to unlock bootloader, not bypass bootloader.
from MIUI forum, you need to check first. did you receive pass from sms or email? as stated below
It will ask for your authorization pass if your Mi Account is the authorized one. You might have received the pass via email or SMS on your registered mobile number. Otherwise, it will recall that your Mi Account is not authorized to flash the phone.

I am not sure. I did that about 2 years ago. I am sure it was on a website but I could be wrong as well.
I just followed this guide:
http://en.miui.com/thread-2820162-1-1.html
And i get the exact same as that last photo - My computer is now bound to this account, you can start.
I suppose if my account isn't authorised I will just have to pay one of those online websites to teamview my computer and use their account...
But I can send the phone back to the seller. They will charge me about $30 USD(could be more after they actually get it) and they told me they will send it to a Xiaomi Centre in China. What I want to know is will Xiaomi just do the same? Open it up, test point and flash it? If so I rather do it myself than wait months for it to return.
Thanks,
I'm going to give this a shot tomorrow. Does it matter what rom I use???
Is there a guide on how to do it properly for my practicular phone?

Waiting 168 hours to unlock bootloader for more than a month

So I bound the Mi account I use on my 9T Pro when I bought it in October (came from redmi 4x) and in November I tried to unlock the bootloader from the common method using Mi unlock, but it said I had to wait 168 hours, I waited like 15 days (I was occupied by work and forgot about the bootloader thing) then, 15-16 days after tried to unlock the bootloader again and got the same "wait 168 hours"; I waited another week+1 day and tried to unlock it again and the same 168 hours message appeared. Today, another week+1 day passed and tried to unlock again and the same message showed up again.
Tl;Dr :
I've been trying to unlock the bootloader for like 2 months and every time I try to unlock it it shows "wait 168 hours".
Any way to fix this or unlock the bootloader without mi unlock?
when you say you tried to unlock the bootloader, what did you actually do?
Also during the wait time was the phone on? Was the SIM card in? were you using it while you waited?
After waiting a week what are you doing?
You should not do anything on the phone, other than put it into fastboot.
Then connect to the PC and use the Mi Unlock Tool as normal.
Doing things like changing the Mi account linked to the phone, binding the phone again in the Mi Unlock Status screen, etc. will reset the timer.
I am facing same issue on my mi note 10!!
Do you able to unlock your Device then??
From my experience you can use your phone normally while you wait , make sure you use an Intel based pc and make sure you install and update the drivers from mi unlock tool and mi flash tool .
It happened to me once because i didn't have the drivers correctly installed , and log in to both devices , also oem unlock on in dev options just in case.
Just go to developer mode and check mi unlock status and follow what has been said. And dont just login mi account in your phone but also sync your account with your phone
I have followed all rules
1)I didn't sign out my mi account from the device during waiting time!!
2)used my phone normally with sim card
3) i installed drivers from mi unlock tools
4)oem &usb debugging is on
5)i tried with 3 accounts but same issue occuring!

You should have already added the Mi account at the start of the process. Redoing this again at the end is why the counter is getting reset.
After 7 days you only need to put the phone in fastboot mode, connect to the PC and run the unlock tool.

No brother listen, suppose i added mi account in mi unlock status ...then maintaining all rules(find device on,sync on) i have entered to fastboot mode and starts the unlock process by mi unlock tools then i got 168 hours timer
Ok fine then after 7 days don't i need to again add account to mi unlock status??? I talked about this!! I didn't logout mi account from my device within the 7 days!
If you talk about that after 7 days i just need to go at fastboot mode and unlock through the mi unlock tools then my question is how my device will recognize?? It won't show any error like add your device in mi unlock status?????
Check this note i found it miui website
Note:
1. Follow the timer/ waiting period shown in Mi Unlock Tool to unlock successfully.
2. After you've successfully bound your Mi Account, do not factory reset/ log out the approved Mi account from your phone. Otherwise, the timer will be reset and you gotta spend more time waiting again.

At the start you go to the Mi Unlock Status in the developer options and press the button to link and validate (bind) the phone with your Mi account(needs to be done over cellular data). This only needs to be done once. If you do this step again it resets the 7 day timer.
After 7 days you just need to use the Mi Unlock Tool, logging in to it with the account you already linked to the phone 7 days earlier.

I got it !!
That's the issue!! Okay i will try after next 7 days
So the summary is like
Unlocking process has two parts
1st part
We need to apply and get 7 days waiting
In this step we need to add mi account through mi unlock status (developer option)
2nd part
After 7 days just directly booted to fastboot and starts unlocking procedure by mi unlock tools!!
But are you sure about that???

Brother, you shouldn't add the mi account in MI unlock status more than once. Just add it the first time only. If you add it again, the waiting timer resets.

okay...... i wish to do that cz after i updated to android 11 this june...the wifi speed on my phone has decreased drastically...... nd it was a normal update ..... not something i forced....i've resetted my phone almost 10 tmes now but nothing worked......all the other devices connected to my router work at the max bandwidth except for this one. So i plan on fastbooting my phone with the previous android 10 version which was on my device before android 11...... does anybody think that it might fix the issue?
After binding the phone to your Mi account, using the Mi Unlock Status, put the phone into fastboot and connect to the PC.
Login to the Mi Unlock Tool on the PC and try to unlock the phone. If your lucky it might unlock straight away. If not it will tell you how long you need to wait. (Used to be 7 days)
If you need to wait, disconnect the phone and continue to use it as normal.
Once the wait period has expired, put the phone into fastboot and connect to the PC.
Login to the Mi Unlock Tool and try the unlock process again. This time it should work.
Do not do the Mi Unlock Status process again. It restarts the timer.

One more thing to know, if you haven't got that far.
There used to be a bug with the Mi Unlock Status process and I don't know if it's fixed.
If your Mi account never had your phone number linked to it, the Mi Unlock Status process would create a new account, using your phone number from the SIM card and with the password of your original Mi account, instead of updating the original Mi account with the phone number.
When using the Mi Unlock Tool, logging in with your email or Mi ID, if it says the phone isn't linked to your account, use your phone number to login to the tool instead.
