You need to bind your account to that phone for that stated period,
sucks i know,
you can try with other Mi Account though, since it seems the waiting time is account dependant
yesterday i try with my another older Mi Account created back around Mi3 era, and suprisingly it allow me to unlock right away :silly:

Developer options - device unlock status - bind account
New account wont do, the longer the time since your last unlock will do better
There's no count down btw

Anyone unlocked bootloader of Mi Max 2?

Hi Guys
The unlocker tool tells me, this device is not supported. There isn't a way to even make an application for unlock.Mi max worked flawlessly.

You missed something. Have You applied at all?
Unlocked mine without any problems. Previously unlocked two redmi note 3 sd phones.
I've unlocked mine without any problems. Have you made an account with Mi? Have you opened the required setting in development section?

I made account with Mi,logged in with same account, ensured find device option works, enabled unlock bootloader in developer options, logged into mi cloud and ensured the deice is only one and online, rebooted into fastboot mode, logged into mi unlock with phone number, and it says checking your mi account for permissions and then your device isnt supported by mi unlock. I tried all versions of unlock with same results.

Thanks for suggestions. I tried the way you suggested. Still it is saying same account not bound. I was very happy when I bought it, Well not so happy now. There's not a unofficial way either.
Finally managed mine and got TWRP,Magisk and Xposed installed.
How did you manage it? simply wait and try again and again?

How did you manage to get it done, could you please share, I'm having the same not supported problem with my Mi Max 2, I'm using the same Mi Account that I used to unlock my Redmi Note 3 (Dec 2016).
What ROM you used? what Steps you took, thanks in advance for sharing.
Hey mate,
Start with unlocking bootloader. Apply for permission, wait few days then use mi tool to unlock. Were you able to make application via website? Chrome would redirect from application page, so it wasnt visible. Had to use Internet explorer and received permission few hours later. However could only unlock it 7 days later. Then use stupdroid to install TWRP, and you are good to go.

Can i use same Mi account to unlock two devices?

As title suggests I want to know if I can use the same Mi account to unlock bootloader of Mi Max 2 as I used to unlock my redmi 3s last month. Plz reply...
I'm using the same Mi account In two devices.
I didn't need to ask for a permission again when i was unlocking my new Mi Max 2. Previously i had Redmi Note 4. Also, my sister bought the same Mi Max 2, and i used my account to unlock her bootloader. Later just deleted my account, and she created a new one for her. You can try it, you don't have anything to loose.

Yeah, you can unlock a device every 30 days if I remember correctly.
Bootloader successfully unlocked.
my situation is a bit different. I registered a mi account, bound the phone number for my Mi Mix to that account, applied for unlocking permission, waited 3 days then flashed the global rom to replace the China rom. No problem until I dropped and broke my Mi Mix. I have now purchased another new Mi Mix which has the China rom and I want to flash to global rom again. This new / replacement phone has the same phone number / sim card as the first phone. Do I sign in to my mi account on the new phone and apply for unlocking permission? Or should I set up a brand new mi account for the new phone. On the miui forums people are telling me I can unlock the new phone with my existing account but I would have to wait 30 days to unlock. Others on the miui forums are telling me to register a new account so I only have to wait 3 days. Any suggestions?

I'm a part of Miui Device Team and I'm curious who told you such a thing as waiting "30 days"? Maximum what could happen would be 360 hours, which is 15 days. Also, the waiting time for the permission is removed, so technically, you would now wait maybe a day or a two, maybe not even that. Don't create a new account unless you need to. Try applying for unlocking with the old account and see what happens.

Hi @craigrB , The unlock permission is binded with your MI account and can be used with any Xiaomi Devices that has a locked bootloader, Unfortunatly you will have to wait 30 days in order to unlock it using the same MI account.

From the 2nd device forward, we have to wait 30 days for each. After unlock my redmi note 5 pro, i have to wait 30 days more for unlocking my Max 2
absolutely no wait time/ or less even, if account is not changed to a new one. Problem occurs mostly if device wasnt bond to mi account at least 72 hours before the try, and that mistake sure has been giving many headaches. Now i have got myself in the crazy situation that a friend broke his device screen, has bought another, but some data wasnt sinchronized with cloud, and needs them. would be all fine and easy if it was bind to a mi account, usb debugging is off, bootloader locked, oem unlock state close, I tried all known methods, no success. Maybe there is a workaround, but .... sure not an easy way, if there is. ADB commands - all out of discussion, fastboot with locked bootloader does not allow booting to twrp either. sideloading update still work in EDL mode, so i guess that could be the only way with an "update.zip" which patches all above mentioned settings to enabled, if posssible, i dont know how to create one . Device is Redmi note 9 Pro .
Not sure if this is the right forum, so i apologize ahead for the nuisance (first time here)
My question is: i have 2 devices connected to my Mi Account. If I unlock the other device, would it affect the other one? Or not for as long as I don't enable its oem unlock? Thank you.

URGH - wait for unlock AGAIN and AGAIN...

Background:
- I have had this Xiaomi account for many years and have used it successfully to unlock BLs on 5+ devices
Problem:
- I waited 168 hours to unlock - > error -> please wait additional 240 hours
- I waited 240 hours to unlock - > error -> please wait additional 240 hours
168 + 240 + 240 + ... :crying:

Yes I've seen others have this problem, as far as I know the only solution that worked was to wait. They tried creating a new Mi account to use for unlocking, but I guess the unlock server validation recognised they was trying to get around the wait period and it still give them the same long wait time on the new account.
I believe this happens if Xiaomi believe you are a reseller installing unofficial ROMs. Have you unlocked many phones recently, within the last couple of months or so? For some reason their algorithm that determines these things must have flagged your account.

I read somewhere in the forum that you have to use the phone in order to get it unlocked. Not sure but have you been using the phone regularly while waiting for the unlock?

Yep that's true. I had that problem with my second phone. (Redmi note 7)
I tried to unlock and it said 168 hours. So I turned it off and waited. After 168 hours I got again some hours!
With latest unlock tool you also get the message that your phone needs to be connected and you need to use it actively. But I didn't knew that before. With my Mi 9T Pro i did it like that and voila no issues with unlocking.

Hi Yes.
With me already happened on 2 devices, I waited for the initial time for the unlock and with a few hours left to finish the time I tried and received a new time count (average of 50% of the initial time).
I logged into the device with another xiaomi account and logged out, just this. I logged back in with the initial unlock request account and then tried the unlock and it worked.
I imagine that signing in with another account should start some synchronization process between the device and the account and with that update ....
PS. Be careful, and use only a trusted xiaomi account, as in the event of an error, your device may get stuck with bootloader locked in an unknown account.
Have nice!

Hi,
Is there anyway to bypass the 168h wait for unlocking? If I use the second account trick I got the message"No phone number associated with this Mi account" and their is a phone number on that account wich also is confirmed.
no bro , the trick didnt work now. and for our device , no unofficial method yet.

Question unlocking wait period

hello
currently i'm in the wait for the bootloader of my mi 11 to unlock. I did all the process and i'm waiting for the 168 hours to end.
I wonder if i can know how many hours are left and if it's a yes then how.
thank you
No you can't, it's basicaly the same hours of the same day... the next week. So the better advise was to check the clock when you have click for the "Unlock" on Mi Unlock.
If you have a doubt, just be sure to do not want unlock before the remaining time, so flash the same day next week near midnight and you will be sure.

- Samsung = You lose Knox forever even if you restore / unroot your device

Xiaomi = Just use Mi Unlock with his Xiaomi account logged, asking for unlock and wait 169 hours...

Xiaomi is not responsible for that... You must wait 169 hours like all people want unlock their Redmi/Xiomi devices.
If you have errors, errors are located between you, your phone and your computer.
This is my 4th time to wait 168 hours. Everytime I waited 8 days just to be sure. Always coming error, followed by wait 168 hours.
