Fix for baseband/imei on tmo ocx27 - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

hey guys I was able to get the modem pulled from a moto z2 that has the ocx27.1 update.. if you run this flash all it will reinstall ocx27 with the latest modem allowing you to once again use your phone.
Please note that this will wipe your phone
Also note that your baseband will stay empty untill your phone fully boots up into android

I was able to get my phone reading sim cards after flashing this, however I have not been able to run the most recent update, any ideas?

I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't really tried, I'm on bell so I just flashed the retail ROM

Thank you for this. Worked great. I had a worthless brick after trying to install Magisk. :|

my Moto Z2 Force is locked with t-mobile modem but it is the retail model how do I unlock it Have I tried several ways and I could not ??

Hero
some weeks ago downgrade my z2 and loose baseband, with this phone come back to life :,v
thanks, thank you very much

Saved my phone
Thanks! This is exactly what I needed to get my baseband re-installed.

Is SPRINT available? my phone is oreo,OTA loses IMEI after March security update...

Back on update path
Any T-mobile guys figure out how to get updates to install after flashing this, I tried flashing another firmware after this and lost baseband again.
Edit: I ended up flashing the XT1789-04_NASH_TMO_C_8.0.0_OCX27.109-36_subsidy-TMO_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml with the OreoFlashAllUtilities then I edited a FlashAll.bat and used it to flash NASH_TMO_C_OCX27.109-51_subsidy-TMO_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml. rebooted and it started updating to the latest update and made it through 100%.

How did you edited FlashAll.bat?

Is this any different than using the frankin update that combit both sprint and tmobile firmware?
Mine atm show
Android 8.0
Current version: ocxs27.1.3
Security patch level may 1 2018

Kindly send me the flashing procedure for this rom

Not working on me. Still no sim, no wifi, no IMEI.
I'm on tmo variant. Also, don't we need modem.img? Why the flashall.bat don't include it? I checked. Anyway, I edited and include it: still not working.
P.s.should I use a particular flashall ?

I tried flashing this to no avail---i am seeing the following failures when running the flashall...anyone know how to correct this:

@elijahaf97, is it possible to re-upload the file?
Following the G drive link, it tells me it was moved to the trash bin.
Thanks.

No sim card error

I tried to install a new rom after mine was starting to have errors (blisspop 5.1) i tried to install omnirom that was 6.0 when it booted up i had no signal and it said my sim card wasnt inserted when it is. I also flashed chainfires non sys change supersu (said it was needed in omnirom thread i think) and now i cannot figure out how to get it to show that i have a sim card again. I tried factory reset, installing original stock android with nexus toolkit, installing radios... I don't know. In my phone settings it shows unknown baseband im not sure what that means... If anyone could help that would be great. Thank you
I'm assuming you went straight from Blisspop to Omnirom? If that is the case, you didn't upgrade the device's baseband before flashing Omnirom. While the quick and easy path would be to simply flash an Android 6.0.1 baseband using Fastboot commands, it's unknown if any problems will crop up in doing so. Therefore, I recommend flashing the latest stock ROM from Google first. Doing so will ensure that your device is a clean slate, with no residual problems left from other ROMs. From there, you can run through the process of unlocking the bootloader so you can install TWRP and Omnirom.

Okay thank you for the advice. I did not update any baseband so that may be the issue. i will use the toolkit to install 6.0 OTA and then see if i have sim then. Ill get back to you with what happens. Thanks you

I had a similar issue on my first device, had to rma it. Kept saying no sim emergency calls only. Mine was stock 100% just with bootloader unlocked. I use sprint, in settings my esn was all zeros and the imei was still there. Good luck and remember to relock and fresh flash before sending it so they don't claim software did it.
Good luck

I have the same error on Android 6.0.1 with my N& which I bought in January. Last night I flashed stock Android over fastboot but it didn't work. Tried my friend's SIM which works fine in his N6 but it wouldn't work in mine. Any ideas? Should I just get a replacement?

I had to. Check your settings and see if the imei and other stuff in there is intact. When mine did it, it had a imei and the esn field was empty. I was on Sprint with it at the time. I'm just curious if it is the same issue

Stock restore Files

Here is a link to Russian site that has the stock restore files. I downloaded the file, extracted the zip and flashed the individual partitions via fastboot, following the exact order in the servicefile.xml. I supposed you could use RSD Lite maybe?
Anyway, here is the link: http://4pda.ru/forum/lofiversion/index.php?t755326.html

Hi there,
Could you please share some details on what you did please?
Was it successful or did you find any issues upon boot?
Which Moto Z are you using, is it the Droid or Force Droid?
Which image were you able to install (Verizon US or any of the other country images)?
Thanks in advance, looking very much forward to your reply.

I'm planning on flashing the EU Z files to my Z Force in order to bypass the VZW restrictions. Need to do some more research first though.
My bluetooth is borked on my phone (MM issue more likely than hardware), I'm going to try to flash this to fix that as a factory reset has done nothing for me. Thanks for the link.

New OTA: G920TUVS4EPH2

Got this OTA after doing an ODIN of EPF1 to my phone. Baseband is updated to match, unsure about bootloader but I doubt it. If someone wants a ROM dump and is willing to tell me how....
I got this update pushed to me also.
Question for anyone who knows: If you flash this do you lose the ability to install custom low level software (firmware, recoveries, etc)?

It's possible, our S6 won't get locked on any 6.0 firmware's
Maybe on 7.0 if we get it. but not 6.0
And for clarification EPH2 was just security fixes.. everything else is still the same.

I'm downloading the complete TAR image from Sammobile, but due to finances I don't have the means to pay for the full speed..
So I'm downloading at the slow method.. If someone else has not uploaded the image, I will upload it by late tonite..
I'm still having issues with the damn Upload it gives me last second errors when I step away to do another task..
I'm making my final attempt to upload it onto my Android File Host... It should be up by morning if it uploads correctly.. Just Look For Zaphodspeaks in Android File Host if I haven't posted it yet..
I have many tasks to do this week ends.. Mainly upkeep the the old house and updating some of the old wiring while its getting cooler..
Finally, I uploaded the Image.. I had to recompress it since it kept giving me errors at the very end, just unzip and install in ODIN

Got my phone rooted, custom rom, and kernel that I was using before, no problem.
Last night (9/27) I got a firmware update for my factory USA unlocked 920T. Sammobile shows it was released on 9/26. It was a 50MB file that updated the Android secruity patch date to Sept. 1. No other changes. I noticed the Samsung Smart Manager app/widget shows I'm using 5% less memory now. I don't know if it's better RAM management or Samsung modified the app/widget to show different figures LOL. I suspect the t-mobile 920T will get the update soon.

Found the AQG1 on one expensive paid site, so maybe it would appear somewhere for free:

nice. In the mean time I added the OTA posted by @SBCarr
But please read post #2 before installing...i really put it here more for recovery reasons, cause if you're on J320AUCS3AQG1 and have to recover, you'll have to use AQC1 with broken baseband then upgrade using the OTA... and if your like me with no att sim, this is the only way
If my J320A isn't rooted, can I flash the stock AQC1 to AQG1 OTA file through the stock Samsung recovery ?
If yes, will there be any side effects?
Thanks
I'm going to assume no, but am unsure... maybe if you used the original file posted by sbcarr, mine was edited. But the issue is stock recovery flashes it from /cache/fota directory. stock recovery also at some point refuses to install from sd, sometimes it will let you tho

Ok links are back...the AZ ota was fine. but the A ota would fail if rooted without kingroot, with kingroot was fine tho. Weird?
I just edited the updater script more and everything is good now.

I was able to use the eng_root kernel, which technically isn't modifying your device, to push the AZ ota to my phone. But I had the legit db files to start with. When I get time I'll see I if I can't spoof a A ota db file and see if I can get it to update
AQG1 became avail. also on (paid) gsm-firmware, so maybe it'll show up soon somewhere for free

Using smart switch I don't think it matters which your on because it's the full firmware, ota just patches files so you need aqc1... if you're not rooted hook up to smart switch and see if it says there's an update available and which one it offers

I hooked up my phone (AQA1), and smart switch says "up to date", and doesn't offer anything.
I read on XDA that there is some method to trick smart switch using a free program called Fiddler.
Hmm ok it's not just me then, thought it was cause of my baseband or sim card. I downgrade to apj2 and it says the same.
Think that fiddler trick just spoofs your carrier, and that's what we're after att specific firmware

Wait your not att?
That's why smart switch didn't work.
I don't know a way besides official ota
Thank you for this. This helped me recover my SM-J320A It was showing baseband, IMEI and IMEISV all Unknown, and Sim Card not detected. After using Flashfire I flashed with J320AUCS3AQG1 **see post #2 (OTA) and then Flashed J320AUCU2AQC1 (newest available) and now everything is back to normal and working great.
BTW I am still learning and Unfamiliar with OTA. What exactly is it and is it needed? I tried to do some searching on google but no information came up. Reason I ask is I read post #2 but was unsure what it exactly means and what the proper way to do this is. Since my phone is now working I didn't want to break it just yet again LOL.

Proper Odin Version for flashing firmware?

Before I start, I apologize and I know this shouldn't be in the Q&A Thread but I am a new user and unable to post it in the other thread
So I recently purchased a Galaxy S10 from Best Buy and I noticed I didn't have Advanced Call features such as Wifi-Calling and Video Calling. When I had asked about this, it turns out that I had purchased the unlocked S10 and had them set it up with my provider as Verizon.
I have been reading some posts by iBowToAndroid and I am wondering if I would be able to flash my phone into being locked with Verizon and get the Advanced Calling features without losing anything on my phone currently.
I already have the G973U firmware files from iBowToAndroid's post as well as the Verizon USERDATA file. I also tried setting up Samsung USB Drivers but the install failed. I'm not sure if this is necessary as I am still very new to this whole thing.
If this is possible, what version of Odin should I be downloading?
Is there anything else that I would need?
I'm using v3.13.3 and it's working perfectly fine.

I had this happen as well...then got a firmware image (from sammobile) with a later date than the firmware that was on my phone already. Flashing that newer firmware image was successful the first time through. Although in my case I was flashing back from T-Mobile firmware to unlocked firmware, same idea. I think that it might have been related to needing a newer boot version or something, but until I got the later version of unlocked firmware, the flash would fail reliably at abl.elf, before it got rolling.
And the version of Odin that worked for me was the patched Odin3_v3.13.1_3B. Didn't try the unpatched version.
