[Help] Corrupt EFS, I don't have a QCN backup. - Xiaomi Mi MIX Questions & Answers

I bought a used mix which has no wifi functionality due to what seems to be a corrupt EFS. The mac address is 02:00:00:00:00, however the IMEI is correct and is the same one on the box.
I've flashed it with the official rom, but the mac address is still empty. I've been able to get the QCN file off the phone but I do not have a non-corrupt version to restore to.
Can someone be kind enough to send me their QCN without their IMEI? Would very much appreciate it. I have the 6GB ram 256GB version of the phone.

Hi , here a qcn file, the lines 0x1E700 / 0x02530 with IMEI has been replaced by 088A AAAA AAAA AAAA AA,
use the IMEI converter and put your own IMEI with the HEXeditor.

Thanks alexlovar! I was able to restore the qcn using your file.
Unfortunately, the mac address is still 02:00:00:00:00:00. I'm starting to think something hardware related is wrong with this phone. Really sucks to be burned buying a used phone.

hi, what ROM you have installed?, in my mix only work the original MIUI global version, i don't know if the mac address is include with the qcn file but i don't believe this, because this manage only the modemst1 and modemst2 partitions.
i see something on goolge search: https://appuals.com/fix-020000-mac-address-android-custom-roms/

I tried multiple roms from the latest global version, china stable, china dev, and some custom roms. They all result in the same problem. I'm not sure if the qcn contains the mac address for the mix, but from what I read the mac address is contained in the qcn for other xiaomi phones.
I also haven't been able to purposely clear the IMEI. I've tried using the adb commands and also the command through the dialer. Granted, those guides were for other xiaomi phones. I figure it would be a good idea to clear the efs before restoring the qcn you sent, but the IMEI never clears.

in my case, the commands :
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/sdf3
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/sdf5
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/sde28
doesn't work (for me), i must delete the modemst1 /modemst2 /fsg partition manually, using root explorer. (Rom MIUI 8.5. rooted) reboot and verify that the IMEI is cleared, if not, delete manually again, reboot and then restore the qcn backup file with Qfil_QPST.2.7.430 . look http://www.androidbrick.com/ultimate-guide-qualcomm-snapdragon-imei-baseband-repair-fix-part-2/
i hope this helps!

[Q] LG Thrill P925 IMEI Problems

Ok I have this problem. Some how the imei number programmed in the phone got erased. I think thats why my sim never register to any network or let me change any settings. But whenever I flash the kdz my imei is right in the logs but when i use *#06# it dont display my imei its blank just in the setting. I cant make calls or select a band when I use *#*#4636#*#* So now im looking for a way to program my imei to my phone. I know how to do this with cdma phones but not GSM. So anyone know of any info It will be greatly appreciated. I think this happen because of the previous owner flashed the NV
Anyone who is experienced in fixing this around? I've got the same issue as well.
I think I found a solution. I found an post about someone who had a similar problem here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089039) I searched my phone for an /efs folder but haven't found anything. So either this is my problem or I don't know where to look. Do anyone have a efs backup?

Yeah. That's for a Samsung Phone. I know this because I used to develop for one.
I have searched extensively for an /efs partition and have failed so far.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S II
Yeah I know but I was thinking that the basic file system for all androids are alike. Lestat you said you searched the phone for an \efs partition and couldn't find it? I may be wrong. Is there any way to get to the nv items on the phone? That way I could try to program my imei. I wish i could just use qxdm. Is there any software likethat for gsm phones?
Hmm. I currently don't know. I can try looking.
No IMEI
Hi, have you checked your APNs? I had the exact same problem before, my problem was solved by putting back the 3 default APNs that came on the phone and adding my carriers APN at last.
Whenever I try to change the APN it says "reorganizing internal process" then kicks me out. the same thing happens when i try to dial a number. I tried flashing kdz v10e, v10k, v20a, v20c, v21a. I tried flashing .bin for v10e and v10k. I tried flashing BB for froyo and gingerbread. I tried APN manager to make an apn to no avail. I tried using getRIL to make sure my radio was correct and it wouldn't detect my phone. Says it's unsupported but right below that it has P925 on the list of supported phones. So now I back to stock trying to get into the efs to program the right IMEI. One thing though when I flashed v21a it would let me into the apn settings. One I input the settings and try to save them then it say "Reorganizing Internal Process" and kicks me out. I would then reboot and try to go back to the apn but it's not saved. On another note v21a will not let me into the apn settings at all unless I *#*#4636#*#* and gointo phone info an change MPDP to disabled
i got the same issue... no IMEI, any new idea?
i have attempted to search for a solution to your problem and found a guide that might be able to help you? i dont understand it much but maybe it will help?

If any have acces to fully working phone and it is rooted, know how to use ADB and have 2.3.5 android please do this (bold lines):
adb shell
$ su
su
# dd if=/dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/by-name/nv1 of=/sdcard/nv1.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/by-name/nv1 of=/sdcard/nv1.img

256+0 records out

256+0 records in
256+0 records out
131072 bytes transferred in 0.024 secs (5461333 bytes/sec)
It will give you 2 files on sdcard (nv2.img and nv1.img) and please send me files to compare with my broken files. Maybe I can find solution to fix this IMEI sh*t.
On mine nv2 partition IMEI is strored in 3 places and nv1 partition seems empty.
I will send you email in PM to send me files. Dont post files in public, becouse IMEI is stored i them.
Dont use tutorial in previus post becouse it will brick your phone. On partition 7 in our phone is system not EFS, NV or whatever is called. NV1 is partition 2 and NV2 is partition 3 on our phones.
You can open and edit nv1.img and nv2.img in hex editor.
Sorry for bad english!

i tried that procedure with a working imei thrill from a friend and mine, and restored the "good" imei back to mine with no luck
update: i tried returning to stock froyo and to my surprise it had the imei the first time it booted, after a couple minutes. Then when I put my sim on and turned it onagain the imei was gone
I just flashed the P920´s v10k via Lg Software updater, made the wipes (all of them in the 3e recovery) and the imei is back there.. don´t know if it´s temporary or permanent, but i´m able to make calls, and have rebooted twice, i lost the 3G 850mhz but hey got a useful phone for now!
You can get the v10k HERE
New update... after third reboot lost the IMEI again... but hey that´s a start
Another update: flashed v20p using the .kdz and now i´m on official ginger with IMEI... let´s see how long it sticks...

[Q] i8190 IMEI NULL/NULL

Hello,
got the same Problem like alot others. Wrong flashing and the complete EFS was destroyed.
Now i go back to Stock, rebuild the Baseband and the Counter is 0. But still have IMEI NULL/NULL
I read now alot of posts in the Net and tryed a lot but nothing helped.
So my Question is, is there really a solution to build the IMEI back to the Original one if you completly lose the original
EFS Folder? Or do i need to get it to technican to get it back with a Box?
I tryed IMEI Changer App but this one doesnt work on my i8190.
If there is another way to fix this, would be grate to get a but of Help.
Thank you in advance.
So i try to change the IMEI with ALP. But ALP directly gets an Read Error while try to get the IMEI.
Is there a File i can put in and change it with ALP to get back my IMEI?
I had the same problem when i was on my SGY. Just reflash the rom through odin and fix permissions. ??
There is no bad choises, only bad results.
SGS III Mini
tenshi_xp's PAC Rom RC-3
KitKat 4.4.4.
Hi,
thank you for your Answer. But i already reflashed Stock Rom all things are back, i just miss the IMEI File or Area. Saw on the net there are IMEI Folder to flash with ODIN
so i can change it with ALP. But most of the Sites or Files or deleted, maybe false and Viruses, i dont know.
My Problem is that my complete EFS Folder was lost, no Backup nothing. With different Flashes and Stuff i got it back with Baseband, CSC and so on. Just my IMEI tells
me NULL/NULL and ALP cant get it, because this Part isnt available anymore
Can you tell me Stockrom or something i can try? Need something for an open German i8190.
Best Regards

Our IMEI number isn't saved in /efs partition/folder. It's saved in mmcblk0p9 partition which take up to 1MB. The efs partition (/efs>imei folder) only contains the IMEI key code to access the IMEI number in mmcblk0p9 path. If your IMEI key code got wiped and you didn't make a backup of your efs partition, then you will (unfortunately) never see your IMEI again
BTW : Does WiFi, Bluetooth etc. works or not?
EDIT : I found a interesting therad for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755787. Maybe you can use this efs backup from this user and change the IMEI to your original one.

Yes all other Services are working WiFi and BT. Just the IMEI Numbers are gone.
But if its possible to recreate the Folder and File i think its possible to change the IMEI Number with APS to the old one from the Mobilphone.
But i can get them back if i recover with a OctupsBox or how this boxes are calling?!

There is an alternative method. You can flash this efs.img (which you find in the zip file) with terminal emulator which needs ROOT access.
1. root your device and download terminal emulator from Google play store.
2. Copy the efs.img to your internal storage and open terminal emulator.
3. After open terminal emulator type su to give root access, (your supperuser app asks for root access, confirm with yes)
4. Type/Copy this code : dd if=/storage/sdcard0/efs.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 in terminal emulator and press "enter"
5. Now your efs partition got overwritten with the efs.img
BEFORE!! you start this method, backup your "current" efs folder by type in terminal emulator : dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/extSdCard/EFS.img
Please do this at your own risk!

Where and how to put known IMEI in S1 i9000? efs file corrupt, MTK doesn't work 4me

workaround found - downgrade to stock Froy 2.2.1 - IMEI back - still no idea how to use backed up efs file(s)
(c&p or s.th. else)
Still open: where to download and which version of TWRP for stock? did not find any:cyclops:
Btw.: it is my own smartphone (o-bill) and should be not a solution of all those telling stories of the mobile of a friend of a friend
It took me hours to find the wright files and I had 5x soft bricks with boot loops...
BETTER would have been a solution how to reinstall efs (write protected) if you don't have TWRP or if you copied efs file obviously wrong like me (just c&p to desktop); edit single file(s) or rename or what ever
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi forum,
I'm hesitated: IMEI was replaced
Backed up my efs file and installed really good roms (Omni 5.1.1., Lineage OS 11 (=4.4.4), CM12, and others)
Then I tried to exchange the small 512 MB RAM with a 32GB micro SD. Card was actually recognized as a 8GB one.
So I took it away to use it somewhere else and formatted it therefore.
Since then my IMEI has been replaced with the general one for developers - however, I need my S1 back fully.
This is the assumed root cause - maybe also it just happens sometimes if triying different roms...
Back to the facts:
I do know my IMEI
I have 5 copies of the efs file since 2013
when tried to restore from backup TWRP did do but showed failure with the efs file
Tried mobileuncle and others - failed because MTK engineer mode cannot be used (not supporten cause of other chip maybe) AND therefor
this quick win actions via dialer (#*#....) also do not work for me
root rights? Yes
SU? YES
Hex editor? YES
Must I really go back to stock (Froyo) with Odin and this stuff I forgot how to deal with it?
Or does anybody here has a proper solution how to fix this IMEI-RE-ENTRY-issue that is not too much time consuming and save? I searched for hours here and in other forums as well as in the internet...
I appreciate smart solutions and thank you all in advance

If those two partitions contain the IMEI, they cannot be offered as applying them to your device would in effect be cloning the IMEI, something which is illegal here in the US and most everywhere else to boot.
I'm afraid you're looking at having the device serviced, if your backup doesn't work.
There is surprisingly little info about these two partitions on the net. It seems that they only exist on the N6. If I find some time, I'll see if I can figure something out.

i believe those partitions contains modem usb services. Diag ports, usb debugging ports, communication services, etc. I have my efs on qcn but i can't restore it without missing partitions.

[Help] Nokia 2.3 (TA-1206) need for nvdata and nvram partition

Hi.
I ask for help, as I have IMEI cleared. I tried to reflash the phone, but IMEI is still gone. I noticed there aren't images of NVDATA and NVRAM partitions on any of firmware available online.
Also, wt_custom can't be flashed because of verified boot, haven't noticed any problems caused by it, just saying it if it's important. Raw data of this partition says it has carrier configuration files.
Can it be created by myself? SN Write Tool either doesn't work or I don't know how to use it. Other tool says something about authentication.
I don't know if it's appropriate for this forum, please delete it in case of.
Did you solve that? I have the same problem.
I need the boot partition does anyone has it?
