[Q] About to unlock, unencrypt, root, and rom! please check if correct

I bought a nexus 6 on google play and I am on verizon. It is currently running 5.0 LNX07M.
Could some nice fellow please tell if if this is correct?
1. download wugfresh
2. download drivers
3. tick usb debug, oem unlock
4. unlock bootloader
5. flash no force encrypt
6. root
7. Trwp
8. Get Chroma/ or any other 5.1.1 rom and flash with gapps?
I'm espeically concerned if it is ok to unlock and root a 5.0 nexus 6 and then use twrp to flash a 5.1.1 rom. Should I first update the phone to 5.1 or something?
1. download and install adb/fastboot
2. boot into the bootloader and plug in via USB to your computer. depending on what your computer is running, it could download and install the driver by itself or you would have to.
3. fastboot OEM unlock unlocks the bootloader.
4. reboot and back into your bootloader.
5. flash twrp recovery
6. flash your custom kernel and SuperSU for root via twrp recovery.
7. only if you want to decrypt, format your storage. if not, just reboot.

if updating the official way, go to 5.1 then 5.1.1. but if updating via custom ROM, it doesnt matter, you can flash 5.1.1 over 5.0
IMHO,
1) download Android SDK or minimal fastboot and ADB or 15 second ADB and fastboot installer
2) connect to PC and reboot to bootloader
3) from command prompt:
fastboot devices
(Serial number shows up)
4) From command:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
5) Download the latest TWRP recovery for shamu
6) Boot back to bootloader and from command (having placed the TWRP image somewhere where fastboot can find it i.e. in platform tools in SDK) also rename it to twrp.img
Issue the command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
(Be careful to not have it list the file ext. twice. Windows names the file ext. by default. Example: twrp.img.img
After recovery flashes, from bootloader, use the volume keys to select recovery mode and press power. Your device will boot to TWRP.
Make a backup!
Next, download SuperSU zip and flash with TWRP.
Congratulations, you are now stock rooted and you can choose any ROM you like and flash with TWRP. Follow the instructions carefully from the ROM OP and profit.
It may look complicated but trust me, it's not. The longest process will be after you unlock the bootloader. Your device will wipe completely so backup anything you'd rather not lose forever.
Remember, a 32gb Nexus will take 10 to 15 minutes to wipe and reboot. A 64gb will take 20 minutes or more.
The benefit of doing it this way is you know exactly what is happening to your device, unlike a toolkit. Also, you just learned something! Plus, if you get stuck somewhere and end up soft bricked, you'll understand what and how when someone here tells you how to fix it.
Thank you guys for your responses ! I think my laziness is going to win me out this round so im going to use the toolkit. But next time, I will do the correct way!

I am not sure about OTA yet, maybe for OTA it will overwrite recovery and must do the process again.
Well before the android one rom you could not boot into recovery by holding vol + and power.
Unfortunately during the bootloader unlock process you cannot use the volume button.

Formatted my System

I was in clockwork and then accidentally formatted my system now I can't reboot to Clockwork what do I do I still have access to default recovery menu but nothing else phone won't even boot
reflash Z3c LP or MM firmware with Flashtool or install any rom from sd card that does not require unlocked BL. If you have unlocked BL you can try other roms available like LOS, Carbon etc. For any custom rom you'll have to read the install instructions carefully or you might softbrick your device
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/z3c/ - Download the latest image file
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 - Download and install
Place img file in the fastboot folder
turn off device, start it in fastboot mode (Power + Vol +)
run application
type: fastboot flash recovery [image name].img
start in recovery mode (Power + Vol -)

K3 Note bootlooping to TWRP only

I had Resurrection rom installed in my K3 note and needed to sell the phone. So performed a complete wipe of the internal storage and tried to install AICP rom later (TWRP), it shows flashed successfully, but whenever I am booting my phone, it always boots to recovery only. Downloaded the SP flash tool to go back to stock rom with stock firmware, but as soon as I plug my phone woth my laptop with the USB cable, (which is switched off at this moment) after clicking the download option in the SP Flash tool, it just again boots back to recovery and the stock firmware's download never happens because my phone has booted into recovery. So i guess no use of SP Flash tool too.
I am able to connect my phone to my laptop and can see my internal storage and i can transfer files too.
Any help,?
Current rom flashed via TWRP - AICP v4.2 and Gapps micro (arm 64, pico) (Still stuck in booloop to TWRP only )
I am having the same issue! I've selected to restore factory settings and bam, it boots only to TWRP, I've tried to flash it with new rr rom (09.2017) but it is without any improvement still TWRP.
I think I'll try to do things like I did when changing it from stock model.
My phone TWRP-looped many times. The solution is actually easy.
1. Reflash using SPFlashtool ONLY the stock recovery
2. boot into stock recovery
3. choose english > press reboot phone
4. phone will reboot into rom without problemos
5. reflash TWRP
cheers
or
1. Copy stock recovery.img into sdcard
2. In twrp, select Install and navigate to where you put stock recovery.img
3. Press install image. Then, Select recovery.img. Slide to install
4. boot into stock recovery
5. choose english > press reboot phone
6. phone will reboot into rom without problemos
7. reflash TWRP
DONE

Redmi K20 Pro 'Global' to EU MIUI 11

Hi all, I bought a Redmi K20 Pro 'Global' version from AliExpress awhile ago without knowing that the 'Global' rom was not official. Currently my bootloader is unlocked and I am running Miui 10.3.15.0(PFKINXM).
Is there a comprehensive guide on how to flash from my current rom to Miui 11 EU? I'm a newbie to all of this.
I've seen you need to flash the Chinese rom before flashing to another, is this correct?
I feel mislead by AliExpress but then again I got what I paid for really.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same case. I need help too.
i had the same case, i just flashed the indian 10.3.5 on my unlocked boatloader phone without the complicated procedures of re-locking and re-unlocking
i'm waiting for the Indian miui 11 as i read somewhere that EU roms replaced xiaomi apps with google apps
Don't bother relocking once you've unlocked, it can brick a device and it does not mean you can return the phone and be covered under warranty (flash bit).
This is how to flash the miui eu rom:
1) Download adb minimal here
2) Install to 'c:/adb' to avoid any spaces in the path.
3) Download twrp for the k20 pro here 3.3.1-15 latest
4) Save as twrp.img inside c:/adb
5) Shutdown phone. Press power down and then the power button until download mode appears.
6) Plug in phone to pc.
7) Open cmd from start and type 'cd c:/adb'
8) Type and enter 'fastboot flash recovery twrp.img'
9) It'll then flash. TWRP is now installed. To boot into twrp recovery power down, then hold volume up and power.
Now to install the rom, this is all you have to do each time you want to install a rom:
1) Download 'xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK20ProMI9TPro_V11.0.2.0.QFKCNXM_v11-10.zip' from here
2) Boot into twrp recovery with the 9th step above.
3) Go Install, find the zip file you downloaded in step 1 and swipe to install.
4) Reboot.
5) Give it 15 mins to boot, if it doesn't or constantly restarts boot into twrp recovery, backup all of your files to keep into your pc (plug it in), go wipe and format data (type in what it asks), flash the zip file and restart. You'll probably want to do this step anyway when going from android 9 to 10 or chinese/miui rom to eu rom

This is a nice tutorial, but you might want to change one thing in step 9. You cannot power down the phone. Trying to do this will automatically boot into system, immediately overwriting TWRP. At this point you need to do power and vol+ whilst still in fastboot mode.
