Flashtool support for XZ2 - Sony Xperia XZ2 Questions & Answers

Hi, anyone knows if the XZ2 is supported by flashtool? Is it possible to debrand it? Or is there some other option available like it was for XZp and XZ1 (newflasher)?

Same question. I bought phone from ebay and its in some kind of demo mode. ffs

If it is in demo mode try this code *#*#73556673#*#*

It's not yet supported, but will be.

Newflasher v11 fully functional on 2018 devices -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...ewflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426/page78 , FlashTool need some small modification to get support for 2018 models, hope my git save time @Androxyde for making similar update to FlashTool.

Newsflasher 11 does work (thanks!) but make sure you turn of driver signing enforcement in Windows before you try it - I struggled to get it working until I did this. I copied the replacement firmware without any .ta files.

thanks a lot,
so can i just put the newflasher exe to the firmware folder and start it or have i to put something else to the folder or delete something from the folder ?

Unpack partition.zip to partition folder and You are good to go. Newflasher won't do it for You.

which partition zip? where do i find it? in the fw folder that i downloaded there is already a partition folder in there whit one xml and 3 sin files... why newflasher won´t do it ?

If You have folder already than You don't have to unpack anything You are good to go.
I meant that Newflasher won't unpack the zip for You. However as You don;t have one, that there is no problem.

ok, so i put in the fw folder just the newflasher exe and then i start it? On the XZp i had to move some other file from the newflasher zip too... now not anymore?

Only .exe if You are using Windows. And as I remember older versions there were always 5-7 files (except v10 test versions), but only one was used - .exe for Windows other for Linux and Android (so not needed by Windows).

Which model do you have & which (model) firmware did you flash?
Also, do you have VoLTE/Wi-Fi Calling/Video Calling options available in your settings?
Also, is there any notable difference in what you had, before vs after (notably, the above-mentioned & otherwise)?
TIA.....

I have the model H8216 (XZ2) and i flashed the Customized_IT version (no brand) because i bought the phone from an operator and it has brand fw installed. I didn't found any settings for volte, it was there on the operator fw. I like the customized because the updates coming every month and it is without operators bloatware... And often on operator fw there are bugs and other problems...

Is there any chance that someone will do the exact instructions on how to do it? I also have software from the operator

[TOOL/LT15] [UPDATE 07/01/2013] Flashtool version 0.9.10.0 - Windows / Linux / Mac

Hello
Flashtool can be downloaded on the Flashtool Homepage (on Installation tab)
As Flashtool was originally developped for X10, you can find a lot of information on the Original X10 Flashtool thread
Major new feature : Fastboot toolbox for 2011 line devices.
Major update for 0.6.8.0 : Ability to now install CWM from Flashtool on locked bootloader.
Fastboot now works fine under linux
Please post fastboot issues here in this thread
If ever you want to setup an eclipse environment for Flashtool, you can check this thread
Flashtool does not recognize the decrypted FW.
I downloaded the decryptd FW for the Arc - extracted the files and copied it to the firmware folder of the flashtool (with Folder inside and without folder inside (.sin files directly to "firmware" folder)).
Started flashtool, pushed Flash, but no FW is available. Maybe I have to convert the .sin files in one .ftf file, but how?
Good initiative
Will follow this thread closely and hope for it being completely rooted before release

Can you set the flashtool to debug mode ? (Help->Log Level->Debug) and try again, then send me the log file ?
I'm not an expert, but from that log it looks like it'll be a while before the new phones are rooted, looks like they can't be rooted in the same way as the previous SE Droids!

Actually yes, the exploit does not work on Arc device :
20/059/2011 15:59:24 - DEBUG - stdout :Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)
I will follow superoneclick developpment (the exploit is extracted from this project)
To be continued ...
Thanks. I created the ftf file over the wizard and flahsed the FW on the Arc.
Works perfect.
Can also confirm, that rooting is not possible...

Good news about flashing
Succesfully flashed by Decrypted ROM (without root...)
Guys why don't you try something to root the ARC like the nexus s phone?
i think they are at the same ver2.3.2
Maybe it will help looking at nexus s dev forum?
i would like to root it as i just brought mine today.
its a generic ver. with no branding of telco.
Nexus S was not rooted. It was security unlocked. Same will be done with XPERIA Arc.

But that doesn't mean it that it will take eternities, or will it? I think about getting the Arc and rooting is not a must, but would be really nice to have for such things as SetCPU...
How much has to be done to enable rooting for it, or will it all be solved by unlocking the bootloader?
i think since the bootloader is now unlockable (& mine is already unlocked ) it would be much appreciated to have recovery compiled for our handsets..
has any1 a clue how to do so?
Question for people that that have created a FTF file.
What loader did you use? If you select the arc, I notice it just hangs. However, if you use the X10 loader it completely very quickly.
Thanks
do we need to unlock the bootloader if we flash the SE rom?
we unlock the bootloader doesn't want the se rom.
Has anyone here decrypted ROM from their phone. I did the SEUS update and placed two files into a folder and decrypted them with FlashTool then when it tried to package it up it get stuck here
"Adding loader.sin to the bundle" and this happens when I select the ARC option but if I do the X10 it goes through.
Any hints?
EDIT:
Attached is the LT15 missing from Loaders folder in Flash Tool for make Bundling available for arc decrypted file.

I'm familiar with fastboot to flash but not flashtool.
- the HK Rom zip file has two files in it. Do I use them as is or do I need to build a tft file as I read somewhere?
- what do you use to backup your apps and not having to reinstall everything ?

actually still needs to make the tft file from the two files in the zip...
one request:
why dont u guys use rar/7zip to compress these files?
ftf files compress by almost 30% to 70% if u use 7zip (LZMA ultra high compression)
would save a lot of bandwidth, upload & download time...
see:
~280 MB compressed to ~150MB

erm can someone make the rom rootable by using the previous method, not by using gingerbreak?
Worked great using Flashtool method
Boots in like under 10 seconds now. Extremely fast. Even launcherpro seems to be running smoother. Bloatware is a bit of a negative though easily remedied. Facebook integration is there but tbh makes no difference to me
many thanks~~

hi kiz, you may look at the thread by kanzone, he updated it with this new HK rom

[TOOL/Z] [UPDATE 06/04/2013] Flashtool version 0.9.11.0 - Windows / Linux / Mac

Here is the final version of Flashtool, compatible with Z/ZL
To clarify about bootloader unlock/relock :
Q : Can Flashtool unlock bootloader for a first time unlock ?
A : Yes, it does it using official sony method (get key, then issue the right fastboot command)
Q : Can Flashtool relock bootloader ?
A : Yes
Q : Can Flashtool unlock bootloader after a relock ?
A : Yes.
With this release, before unlocking first time, root your device and you will be able to backup your TA partition (Raw ta backup). By doing this, you will be able to relock / restore your TA partition and have back BE2 and all DRM keys.
Happy flashing
Flashtool can be downloaded from this page
For those having issues downloading, you can try this link : unrestrict.li Flashtool homepage

Is there a risk? Or beta Flashtool, when flashing the firmware of received, all the files correctly identify and sew the right sections?
I looked at the French firmware - it has the same structure as the creation of me, so I'm pretty sure of the correctness of their actions, but would like to know your opinion.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Full UPDATE

Hello,
Shouldnt a FULL UPDATE install "all" necessary like partitions for the system etc, i mean everything?
Why am i asking this?
Because recently i debranded my P9+ and now i have 3 problems:

2. Some features are not function as before, like - Themes (can download but can't apply)
3. Factory reset now always goes as "lowlevel reset"
As my understanding this might be because when failed on debranding phone woke up asking decryption storage password (and shouldn't) then he did a wired wipe out before restart again and then started with the problems i said on top
I also know it affected system folders in any way because, for example, at locked screen when I press settings there are none "subscriptions" to choose.

Just i said i had the same problem when i debrand my L29C636 and that fix it for me.
flash all zip file with twrp , then reboot and force flash update.app with 3 button method, now everything is stock
I had the same problems when I flashed a 'full' ROM as well (B190, for reference). Had the same ugly icons you mentioned, and I had lost MagazineUnlock plus all stock themes.
In the end I found the themes, and it seems to have fixed both the icons and unlock.
Main issue now, is that each time it does a factory reset (when unlocking boatloader for instance), it fails and prompts me to run it again, which it then completes successfully. Not sure what I messed up on there, but it's just a minor annoyance whenever I have to flash an update now.
