Rear Camera Lense Rattle - Honor 9 Lite Questions & Answers

So had my H9L a week and pretty much from start I noticed a rattle when placed down on the side to start I thought it was just the volume rocker button or summit but have been shaking and listening and definitely sounds like inside around the top by camera lense and if I tap around that area on the back it rattles , just wanted to see if anybody else experiencing this , I'm more than likely going to return to store for replacement just in case anyway , thanks

Well was in town so decided to take it back for replacement brand-new one and same rattle when tap around camera lenses so guess it's just build quality , got brand new device though [emoji16]

Does anyone have creaking sound without raised glass?

When I press(with a bit more force) on the left side I hear creaking noise, is that normal or not?

I have 2 Nexus 7. My Nexus 7 has a minor screen lift, but it's not noticeable. But yea it has the creaking noise near the upper left area. But then again I shouldn't like be putting that much force on the screen so I'm not too worried. My sister's Nexus 7 has no issues with either.
One of the mine did but it seems okay. That's why I think it is the back cover. Because of mine would squeak only if I held it from the back in certain areas. If I held if from another place on the back it wouldn't squeak like holding it from the other side and pushing down then the squeak would be gone. Mine usually would squeak right where the volume of buttons were.
Mine does the same no noticeable screen lift but it will creak if you press too hard on the left side

yes.
on the left side of mine its the screen that is raised and creeks. on the right side i think its the back cover that is causing the creeking
I had the creak, it drove me nuts. My screen didn't lift at all. I returned it for a new one with no creak and no screen lift.

You had to apply not a lot of pressure if it drove you nuts right? And you RMA yours for that single reason?

I bought mine locally at Sam's, so it was just a matter of taking it back to the store. I bought a new one at Staple's first as they got a new shipment in...of only one.
There was enough movement to make me uncomfortable with it. Not only did it creak on that lower left side with some slight pressure, I could also feel movement when I pressed on the lower left of the screen. Not like squishy movement, just a weird shifting noise.
It's as if the case was a little too large or slightly warped somewhere. I didn't have to press very hard at all to make that sound and it did it naturally if I picked it up from the side. I tend to be OCD so something like that is just one of those things I would fixate on. I also had a dead pixel so the combo was enough to take a trip to Sam's to return it and Staple's for a new one. The difference is night and day with the new one though, it feels so much more sturdy without the noises.
I ordered a case to try and ignore it, but that is still on it's way so the return was kind of an impulse. Honestly if your screen is fine otherwise and you aren't OCD like me, it shouldn't be a deal breaker IMO. Unless a swap is easy, but things could always be worse.
Mine does same, no lift but squeaks with little pressure.
This squeak is because of that black tap that you can see once you open your nexus. At least this was the case with me. The sponge on the top of tape presses the tape when you press the device on left side. I fixed it by removing that foam. I am not recommending anyone to do it as that foam must be there for some reason either to cater for the flex in back cover or something but this was driving me crazy so I removed it. Please don't do it because I am saying this as you might have some different problem. This was my problem and this is how I fix it.

Mine has a slight creak but only when I apply a moderate-high amount of pressure at a certain spot, which I don't feel comfortable doing anyway. Haven't taken the back off but not sure if I will tbh, using a case can alleviate some display issues I.e. screen rising and sight creaks.

Mine has a clicking kind of sound on the left side and the glass depress's about 13/100ths of a MM with little to no force and it was an open box. I will bring mine back as soon as I find a store with another one in stock. I also didn't get the 25$ credit on my Google Play account because the person who bought and returned it took the credit...
My main concern is for dust getting under the glass. If the screen has any kind of travel like mine does I can only assume that it may suck some dust in and under the glass in-between the display and the glass. I don't know if the display is fused to the glass like my Gnex.
I've found that taking the back cover off and putting a single, small piece of electrical tape near the edges in the areas that squeek eliminates the creak. If you have creaking in areas other than the left area where there's screen lift, it's most likely caused by the back cover not fitting perfectly against he device. I put some small pieces of electrical tape in the top right corner and along the bottom right side of my Nexus 7, and it has just about eliminated all creaking.
Mine creaked around the edges til I pressed down hard on them to clip it more securely in place. I've no other issues and the screen is great.

My third replacement has creak with no lift at all.

My second Nexus 7 has no screen lift but the power button clicks loudly when depressed about as loud as a typical space bar. Loud enough that others in my office can tell when I turn the screen on. The vol. rocker does not make the same click sound it sounds and works like the first Nexus 7 I owned. I don't think the louder click from the power button is a big deal and will likely get less loud with use.
Hi!
I got my Nexus 7 yesterday and I dont have the raised glass but I have a creaking noise when pressing down the glass on the left side of the tablet. When I press the glass it creaks and after a second or so you here a popping sound. This is the only issue I have with my Nexus 7. You guys think I should return it and get a replacement or is this normal? It only happen when I press down harder than normal.

I have the same problem and am trying to decide if its screen lift or just some weird noise. Advice guys?
Same problem - I've had this issue since I got my Nexus 7 two weeks ago and so far nothing terrible has happened.

Rattling / ticking noise from back of HTC One

Has anyone else encountered a rattling and/or ticking noise when they place their HTC One onto a firm surface (e.g. wooden table)?
It's quite easy to recreate by tapping the back of the phone - on the top half, near the camera - with your knuckle.
Possible causes: autofocus module, OIS, sim tray
I'd be very grateful to find out if anyone else has experienced the same, as I'm trying to work out whether it's just my phone or if it's normal!
Thank you!
It's the camera module as always, like u said autofocus module and there is a mechanical gyroscope element in the camera, your device is normal
Don't OCD
Yep, same problem here

I have the same rattle coming from the camera lens area. Easy to hear if you tap the top back edge of the phone. Seriously rattles hard when the phone vibrates, which if it is the focus I imagine can't be good for it. It also makes it sound a bit cheap with the rattle on vibrate as it's easily noticeable.
I was tossing and turning whether I should exchange it after setting the phone up for 2 days but looking around forums it seems like a common problem not limited to the HTC One. Great phone otherwise.

Mine does the same. Its the only issue I have with this phone, otherwise its an amazing phone. I have two friends in work with the same phone so I'm going ot see if they have the same issue too. Seems its on all of them so far so I wont do anything about it until I hear of a repair down the line.

[Q] Camera issues

My phone dropped from about a meter (3 feet) off the ground the other day on to some concrete. Luckily there were no cracks or scratches on the phone so I thought it was fine.
A little while later I used the camera and noticed it looked a bit weird. The screen had lines all over it and the photos came out with a red tint. I thought that maybe it was just the app screwing up, so I tried a different camera app but came out with the same results.
I recorded a video of it happening: (but I can't post links since I'm a "new" user. So here's a gif and the picture I took.)
The front camera is completely fine, so I guess something in the rear got damaged when it hit the ground.
Is this problem fixable? Or is the rear camera broken for good? I'm thinking of buying a replacement lens online somewhere and opening the phone and swapping it for the broken one, but I'm not sure if the water resistance will remain intact.
That's unlucky man I'm guessing you will need a new lens and I'd probably get someone proper to do it so you can blame them if anything happens

I doubt it's the lens. Broken camera module.

Replacing the camera module

So I've had some issues with my camera hardware since buying the device used on Swappa. The issues presented themselves about 3 weeks after purchase.
Wavy screen during video and stills. Sometimes the waves are present in the final image sometimes they present as blurred vertical lines in portrait orientation images. I've had serious issues with the OIS not working between 1/30-1/50 shutter speeds. And occasionally the camera shakes and rattles while trying to focus. And these issues always get worse when the device is hot (from taking many HDR+ shots in a row). And all this happens on every camera app. It also happens after completely wiping the device, factory resetting etc.
Now, the other day, while shooting images in the sun on an 80 degree day, the camera completely froze. The device didn't, but the screen froze. Then started to move in very slow motion. Then it quit with no error messages. I then couldn't get the Camera app or any others to open. I power cycled and the same. Only this time the camera app would open, take a single shot but not actually record it. Then error out with a can't connect to camera error. This then happened with every camera app.
Experiementing, I can get it to occasionally take a single frame image (no fancy stuff like HDR+, panos or blur), but the screen refresh is now slow, (even at 100% battery and cool temps). Sometimes it will record the image, others not. But when it does, it now has white speckles in the shadow areas and green speckles in specular highlights.
So, I'm thinking that whatever the issue has been with the camera module, has now totaly gone kaput. So I'm gonna replace it.
I've found some sources and instructions (I'm very handy with repairs, so I'm not put off are worried about it.)
My quesytions are these:
Has anyone in the forums replaced their cam module?
What advice would you give? (beyond what the online tuts show, you know little gotchas that don't always show up)
Where did you buy your module? And are you happy with the quality?
Have you used repairsuniverse for parts? Do you trust them?
Did this repair fix your issues?
Thanks!
Hi,
I just replaced mine last weekend.
The image stabilization was faulty.
I bought the new camera on AliExpress and it's working perfectly.
For the replacement I followed the ifixit how-to, it's very easy. In 15 minutes all was done.

Thanks! So the OIS is working on the new module.... how is the image quality? Does it appear to match oem? Would you mind sharing the link to the module you bought? Also, how long did the shipping take? Did you find all the listed tools at ifixit to be necessary?
I appreciate the input. I'll be buying mine this week. Unfortunately, I'm travelling and will have to perform the surgery on the road!
I got two N6 XT1100 and XT1103.
Both got the same "Wavy" screen during video recording.
I found this thread in search of solutions for that issue.
So, I second your questions cameraddict
I also would appreciate if you Mr. SirOch can share your experience with replacing the camera on Nexus 6.
Hi gents,
I bought this camera: AliExpress JEDX Nexus 6 rear camera
I live in France and i recieved it in 2 weeks.
To replace the camera you need a Torx T4 to remove the 23 screws and an Opening Picks to remove the rear case.
Just be careful of the Power & Volume Key ribbon on the left side just next to the volume key. The ribbon is exposed and could be damaged with the opening tool.
Here is the iFixit guide: Nexus 6 Rear Facing Camera Replacement
Concerning the quality it's close to the orginal, i see now differences.

Thanks, David. This answer is exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate your time!
Unfortunately, I'm travelling so I can't rely on shipping from China right now. So I bought a module from a company on Ebay located in the US state that I'm currently in. I should have it this week.
I'll update this post when it arrives. If I have the energy, I'll document the process in photos and share them here for future reference. If no photos, I'll at least give a detailed report of the process and any snags.
I can't wait to fix it. I've felt my hands tied while traveling and not being able to snap away with my phone (I don't always need to pull out the ilc for simple shots).

Yep, that is one of the issues!
Update to my camera woes.
The camera module I bought was DOA. Damn it!
Some thoughts on the process:
On my device, the glue holding the back cover on was INSANE! I needed a hair dryer to remove that last 1/3 of it. In the process, some of the plastic frame work holding the battery broke. Not a big deal, but in the moment I didn't know that, so it was stressful.
Be VERY careful with the ribbon cable near the side buttons as you remove the back. The glue on mine went over the cable. Go slowly.
Several sources online debate whether the screws are T3 or T4, definitely T3.
The ZIF connecting the camera cable is very delicate. Be extremely careful when manipulating it.
As an aside, I found a wad of detritus in the very bottom of my headphone jack that was invisible with the device intact and no amount of external cleaning showed that anything was in there. It was wedged within and between the jack and phones guts. I haven't tested it yet, but I suspect that may have been the source of my mic issues.
At this point, instead of trying to replace the module (for a third time) I think I am going to buy another copy of the device, as I really like it overall.
Hi,
@OldUncle
It was the issue I had too
@cameraddict
Sorry that you cannot repair your N6.
Concerning the glue, i confirm the usage of the hair dryer and to be careful to remove the back.

Spring-like sound when tapped in top of the screen

Hi guys, I just wanted to know if it's my device or all Nokia 8 make this metal spring-like buzzing sound when you tap or finger-knock on the top part of the screen, around the earpiece, best heard when tapping it on the front side.. If it's with all devices, what could it be?
Edit: forgot to add, it's only 2 weeks old so I doubt it's damaged or weared
Thanks
Sent from my TA-1004 using Tapatalk
Dunno, maybe the vibration motor or the autofocus mechanism of the front or rear cam.
PS. Mine does it too... Nothing broken
Even my old Nexus 5 and 5X made that noise, as do my iPod Touch
It's normal, there are mechanical moving parts as they have already told you (vibration motor, camera lenses for the aufocus or OIS mechanism...)
Sent from my Nokia 8 using XDA Labs
Thanks guys, I haven't heard such thing in my previous phones that's why I got worried.
Sent from my TA-1004 using Tapatalk
I hadn't noticed it can make that noise until I just tried it (because of this thread)... from putting it against my ear while tapping I suspect the origin is the lens & OIS systems being jarred by the tapping.
My phone works fine so it's normal - nothing to worry about.
