Is that 7 plus white offer ok? - Nokia 7 Plus Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I think I'm in love with the white version but since just the black one is officially available in the EU I found this
I just wonder if it's safe to order that one considering it might come with strange firmware? I also still wonder if the Nokia 8 from 2017 might anyway be a better option for even less money? Can anyone help me choose?

P20 Pro New owner?

Hi i am on the fence on whether i should purchase a p20 pro I have always been a clean android software guy used Oneplus , Pixel even custom roms on a redmi phone. How does this phone compare ? And has anyone come from similar situation from clean stock android to p20 pro .
i've come from pixel xl 128gb pure stock to huawei p20 pro - the phone is brilliant, but there are so many variants out there and if in uk and get the c782 version we seem to be getting left behind in regards to the updates
I've come from a sony, which is very close to the pixel, and I got used to very fast. What I like is that it has many features which the stock android doesn't have.

Most UK resellers will supply the C782 model even if sim free. This is then updated by the carrier of whichever sim you first insert. Three will also update boot animation so you have their big logo on it.
A lot of users (myself included) have the C782 model.

This is what I was lead to believe however, I have a Vodafone contract through a 3rd party provider.
My c782 is still on .110 but I have read on the Vodafone forums that their devices have been updated to .128 over 2 weeks ago [emoji19]

a few vodafone users from what i know have the C432 model, which is receiving a lot of updates
Yes, apologies I have since found out that Vodafone appear to be issuing the European model.

If you're a pure android person, as in Pixel / Pixel 2, this phone will be pretty stuttery to you and the lack of updates will frustrate. I am on April 1 security patch, and Instagram which is the main app I use, is quite laggy graphically.
Aside from the lack of updates, crap selfie camera and stuttery performance in some apps, the phone is top of the pile right now.
The speakers, screen, camera, and speed of the phone are top notch .

Hi, my wife just got this phone and I'm tempted too. I saw your comment and she has c782.
Do you know if you root and flash a custom ROM do you get regular updates then ?
if she has only just got it, then she will need to pay to get it unlocked (there is thread on this) as huawei no longer provide unlock codes.
you will need to rebrand the phone to C432 model to be able to get the updates, if you leave on C782 then you are reliant on the network operators and huawei to decide when we will receive updates

who do the updates come from if it's not Huawei? google directly?
no, the updates come from huawei but the network operators have to authorise its release
Hi guys, I’m jumping in on this thread as I’m seriously considering a P20 Pro.
I’m thinking of buying from John Lewis in the U.K. and I’m on BT Mobile as my provider - does anyone have any experience with the updates or as to what model of phone i would get if buying from John Lewis?
Also, how are you guys finding the battery life on the P20 Pro?

Battery life is amazing and if i was you i would ask if the p20 pro is unlocked and non branded otherwise you have to wait for the carrier updates, which are so damn slow. I came from a oneplus 6 and im happy that i bought the p20 pro less then 2 weeks ago and this phone is just the best.

Thanks for the reply. I just need to see the P20 so I can get an idea of the physical size of it. I’ve been using this iPhone 6s for so long that I’m guessing anything bigger is going to really feel massive.

Ha, yea its pretty huge if you come from a iPhone but its still awesome due to 1 hand mode or using the home button to navigate the phone, which i use currently.

Well, the Oneplus 6 isn't bad and software wise its one of the fastest phones you can get right now besides the pixels but.... i didn't like the camera! The camera is oke when used in full daylight but at low light its just terrible and the sound quality isn't also that good. The oneplus 6 is better at taking video's etc but the p20 pro is way better at taking photo's.
also the overal build quality on the p20 pro is and feels so much better.

I've been thinking about ditching the P20 Pro and switching to OnePlus ot back to Google with Pixel 3, but can't make mind up
Update: just checked the pixels out and they look premium, interface seems slick, but u need 128gb version as 12gb has already been used with nothing else installed. The XL looks spot on and size is same as P20 Pro.

Help I'm a noob with a question about the K20 Pro running Android. UK - Vodaphone

Hi guys,
So this phone seems amazing for the price and specs, but obviously, it doesn't run android.
Now my question is, I currently have a S7 Edge running the custom ROM (superman rom) and I've done a few custom ROMs so think I'd be confident if there was a guide to also do this to the K20 pro to make it the perfect phone.
My question is:
1. Do they make a guide to flash stock android or some form of android on this phone?
2. does the phone work in the UK on Vodaphone network?
3. is there another phone I should be looking at? the Oneplus 6t doesn't seem much of an upgrade for the money from the S7 Edge I've had for the last 3 years :\
thanks!

It is Android, just not as you know it.
At the moment the phone hasn't been released globally, so there's very little custom ROM development yet. It'll be released in India next week, but globally in a could of months, maybe. So it'll be a while yet before there's some progress with other ROMs. GSI ROMs work OK for the most part, and Phhuson's AOSP GSI will, obviously give you the purest Android. Though there are still a few issues with them, which for some, myself included, can be lived with, whilst others they will be deal breakers. There are guides for flashing ROMs on this phone. Have a look in the K20 Pro threads here.
The phone will work OK, for the most part in the UK. It lacks band 20. So EE will give the best coverage and O2 the worst. It 'should' be OK on Vodafone and Three with maybe the occasional patch that still relies on band 20 for compete coverage. EE would give you compete coverage and O2 probably wouldn't work outside of major towns and cities.
There's the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, though the Pro does have a large jump in price. Close to stock Android out of the box and OnePlus devices have the biggest custom ROM scene.
There's the Mi 9, which has a global version and some movement starting to happen on the custom ROMs.
Or there's the Asus ZenFone 6, which comes with a fairly stock android out of the box. Asus have tentatively reached out to the developer community and provided a small number of xda devs with a free phone, so there should be more development than you'd normally see on an Asus phone.

thanks for your reply,
the porblem is i have a s7 edge and can't really see why to spend £400+ plus on a phone that doesn't even do 1440p
it needs to have 1440p! lol

Because it will now cost you almost double that amount to get a new phone with 1440 display.

Yes. Any flagship phone with a QHD display will be marketed as a premium flagship and come with a premium price, look at the prices of the S10, the OP 7 Pro and the new Xperia phones. If you want a cheaper phone with QHD, then it will be a mid range SoC.
already have S8 Plus, running it as FHD+ to save the battery and can't feel or see the difference
I guess FHD+ is enough and battery friendly

If I were you right now with a 3 year old phone like you have there would be only one choice and that's the OnePlus 7 pro.definetly worth the few hundred extra for what your getting. Oxygen OS is hands down best software with Best QHD display you can get,if you dont mind full HD go with the normal 7 at a good price.
The redmi k20 pro will work fine but annoying Chinese software, maybe wait till September/October for a Mi 9T pro or November for a OnePlus 7T with possible standard version with a design similar to the k20.
Look at Xiaomi.eu rom for k20 pro if your going with that. It takes away all the bloat of the Chinese version with weekly updates based on Chinese official

Upgrading to Chinese HarmonyOS

Hey guys, I sold my Mate 30 Pro with Global ROM in the past because I found the UI too "cheap" and "simple" compared to the chinese version.
I was thinking of getting a second hand Mate 40 Pro because it's super cheap in Europe rn. What's worrying me is that I will be stuck with global software though that might not be issue if they implement widgets and such to HarmonyOS.
My question is, is it possible to get a chinese version system somehow on a phone bought in europe?
Like can I get the chinese beta in europe or flash it somehow? Thank you all in advance <3

No one has yet to crack the Kirin 9000 chip jsut yet, but with all members within the community, maybe some one might be able to do it some point in time.
I am still stuck on EMUI12 and waiting for the official release.
Keep in mind don't fill your expectaions since "Huawei values information security greater than commercial profits"
Still not possible to update global models to HarmonyOS?
Does anyone have HarmomyOS 3 ROM for HUAWEI Nova 9 (NAM-LX9)?

Hello

Hi wolf here, been away about 8 years. Very sad to see the state of samsung these days. So disappointing the galaxy line up used to be my favorite. So many cutom options now... ugh! Guess if you wanna get into any real custom stuff you are stuck with Google phones. Any one out there got high hopes for the s22 series? What if I got a s21 hk version? Can it run on US Verizon bands?

Welcome to XDA
Sure you find a way for your device in here!

I have a Note 9 SM-960F, is it Snapdragon?

Hi!
So, I bought myself a Note 9 (6/128GB) as I was in love with the device when it was released but had no money. Presently, got some spare money and bought myself a refurnished one for about $180. The device looks and works well apart from some scratches at the back which I will put a cover on.
I see that the device name is SM-960F. I searched the net and in most of the places it shows that this model, 960F is the Exynos version. I installed CPUZ and got the result that it has Snapdragon 845! I'm attaching the screenshot here. The bootloader of the phone is unlocked. I am not planning to run any banking/financial app on it. I will just use it with my secondary SIM. The doubt I have is that is it really a Snapdragon version or some sort of trickery (extremally sorry for sounding so noob)
Please help if possible and thanks in advance!
Boot into download mode and show us what's on the screen.
I think this is what you said.... Please see!
And, thanks for the reply!
