Try using a launcher. It could be that default huawei launcher darkens the notification area.

Normal
It's normal. If it were a hardware fault it wouldn't show in your screenshot. Huawei darkens this area for some reason. Try slightly pulling down the notification tray and you will see it go as bright as the rest of the screen.

[Q] Fix for notification bar "burn-in"?

Hi,
Can someone make a launcher with the notification bar transparent? I just noticed that the "burn-in" problem for blue background is real. I used Jscreen for 6-7 hours and 90% percent of "burn-in" problem was fixed, but It will be nice to have a transparent notification bar. This way the "burn-in" problem won't be an issue.
PS: To check if you have "burn-in" problem enter "LCD Test Mode" by dialing *#0*# then choose "red", "green" and "blue". Check the notification bar area.
Wrong section to ask a question seeing as we already have a question/answer forum
On another note, why not just get a launcher that supports toggling status bar ?
eg LauncherPro,Adwlauncher,Zeam....etc (Order does not reflect preference)

I think a question for modified launcher belongs to Development area. The poll is only secondary issue.
I like the stock launcher (it is the only one on JS3 who doesn't lag without lagfix) and tell me how do you select on other launchers the notification bar if you choose to hide it.
Is there an app to check that? I'm in cm7 and the code doesn't work beside samsung firmwares..
Swipe up to make it appear. Swipe down to open it completely.

Thank you, good to know . But it is useful only for launchers who have this option.

Jscreen. After you start Fix Stuck Pixel press Menu and choose Locate.
How does this technically fix the degradation ??
EDIT:
"Removes burn-in by equalising screen usage. "
This probably means degrading the entire screen with the hopes that the degradation will match on the burned out area
Degradation can be stopped with lower brightness, right? With apps like Screen Filter.
Hm... On the other hand, what has brightness to do with colors? On classic LCDs - nothing, hm...

I really don't think so because with Jscreenfix it's the same pattern on whole screen. If it's about degradation then pixels already damaged will be damaged more, so the difference between pixels degradation will be the same.
For this issue, I'm using this combination:
1. Use another launcher. I'm using ADW, and activate the 'Hide Notification Panel' option.
2. Activate the 'Full Screen Mode' in my browser. This will hide the notif panel while browsing. I'm using Opera Mobile.
3. Get rid the clock in the notif panel. I'm using the PaulDiddy's theme to do that. Then I use widget to display the clock.
4. Reduce the screen brightness to minimum as much as possible.
5. Any other ways that prevent too many appearence of bright static pixels will help to reduce the burn in issue getting worse.
Awww. If only I know an app call Jscreen, I will not waste my time sending my phone for service just 2 days ago (got back today).
The only thing I found so far is changing the background of notification bar as shown in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726411
I chose transparent bar.

TBH, I dont see how having a transparent bar will help vs a black bar, infact having a transparent bar will degrade it significantly faster vs black.

The problem is with pixels from inactive region of the notification bar, so it seems that degradation results from inactivity. A transparent bar will put them to work so they will not degrade anymore.
PS: the colour of the notification bar isn't 100% black, it's grey or 90% black, so maybe it's better to say Static Pixels instead of Inactive Pixels. In both cases activity seems to make them recover.
PPS: The third PNG looks more like the actual "burn-in" (the difference between colors isn't so big though).

touchpad hanging on wall.

I have my touchpad hanging with 3M hangers, as media and insteon controller. The one thing I want is a screen saver type clock that doesn't show the buttons, battery etc on the bottom "tray". Also, I want one that doesn't actually light the whole screen, but only lights the time, and preferably moves around to avoid burn-in.
In summary:
- hides bottom tray
- lights up only the time (not a slightly lighted black background)
- clock moves to avoid burn-in
Any other suggestions for this setup are great too.
Thanks
It is physically impossible to not light up the whole screen because of the display technology that the TP uses. The stock android clock app should be fullscreen and move the clock around
Yes I have that app. But will leaving the screen on w this Clock app ruin the screen? Not because of burn in but just because it's always lit

wallpaper dims when applied

Why the wallpaper dims when i applied as my home screen wallpaper?any way to fix this? I need full brightness
If you set WP from within the Settings -> Display -> Wallpaper you should click little "drop" icon with the sign "Illusion" in the bottom left corner and then move the slider to the left-most position. By default it is set at ~20% blur for some reason.

The blur not related to brightness,it still 30% less brightness than the original one

Then you are the first person to have this problem.
I have the same problem and it's driving me crazy!
Does anyone have a solution???
Nougat doesn't have dimed wallpapers anymore by default
still on marshmallow.. i dont think it's a default setting, more of a bug? it didnt use to happen before, it was quite a recent development for me.
I've tried everything including switching launchers and rebooting the phone, but it still won't resolve.
I don't want to do a factory reset though, that just seems like way too much work.
Don't reset your device, emui 4 dim always wallpapers but not on emui 5
Hi! I'm not sure if this will still help but when I received the latest version of MIUI Global (12.0.2), my wallpaper dimmed as well. I was able to figure out what to do. Go to Settings > Display > Dark Mode. Look for "Adjust wallpaper to Dark Mode" and turn it off. It brightened my wallpaper again.

Flickering screen with FB Messenger

Is anyone facing a problem in Messenger app flickering or refreshing screen?
It goes like this... When I open it, there will be no status/notification. Just the app color (f youre using notch) or black area if you disabled the notch. After 2-3 seconds, the app will flicker/refresh and the status/notification bar will now show.
It is really annoying. Im not sure if it is just me or this particular model.

Question Something weird happening on vivid mode

Received my S21U yesterday and noticed a weird thing happens when vivid mode is on.
Basically, the colours change when apps take up the whole screen. It's mostly a slight change but it's really visible on skin tones. On my device when things are full screen, people's faces look pale, yellow and washed out. This disappears immediately if I put the app into pop-up view, splitscreen, or if I open another pop up app over the top. It also disappears if I swipe up to go to recent apps and the current app minimizes. It's annoying because the skin tones look normal and healthy when not full screen. Then as soon I full screen whatever I'm looking at the colours change straight away before my eyes and I see the washed out yellow skin tones appear. This doesn't happen on natural mode or when eye comfort is on, it only happens with vivid.
The same issue happened on my Note 20 Ultra, but the yellowed/washed out colours were SO much worse that I ended up returning it. Oddly enough it doesn't happen on my Tab S7+.
If you have a spare minute and you'd like to see if this happens on your device, open this random image of the legend William Hung full screen with vivid mode on. Then try swiping up to see recent apps and then tapping the app to full screen the image again. If the same thing happens on your device you should notice the skin tones change. He should look normal when the window isn't full but on full screen he looks really yellow and ill. The same should happen if you open it in split screen or popup view or open another app in pop up view over the top.
Anyone else noticed this or know why it happens? It actually kind of annoys me as the skin tones look ugly and at this price point I expect everything to be perfect.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Just checked, and I'm unable to duplicate that problem with the picture you shared. No change it skin tone at all.
NVM, I see what you mean. I see a darker shade in the recent apps menu when I swipe up, and then when I go back to the original image, it gets lighter. NOt a big deal to me. Why does it bother you?
