What is wrong with my Huawei P8 Lite 2017? - P8 Lite (2017) Discussion

Recently I can not turn on or off my WiFi. It shows it is on but there is no available networks?! So when I try to turn it off it won't. I have to restart my device every time if i want to turn off my WiFi or connect to a network.
I have a PRA-LX1 model, Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.0.2
How can I fix this?

I have the same problem on two p8 lite 2017 devices. One has B191 update instaled and other some older version

I have B158. Do you know when the next update will be?

my partner has recently started to experience this same issue.

Same problem here since the last update.
Other problems I have since then:
- battery drain during standby
- occasionally a swipe to unlock the lock screen just blurs the screen. no pin input appears. if this happens only a hard reset helps (soft reset never finishes)
But the phone is still running in this state. I can control the volume and receive messages.
- sometimes the phone lags
Phone is on B204
Everything as stock as it gets.
Before the update everything was running perfect.

Just checked my partners device and it is on B127. Is it possible there's been some sort of radio/kernal update that's broke it?

Same problem here in France. Mine has more recent firmware PRA-LX1C432B204. It starts getting into my nerves, I have to reboot all the time! (ok, around 5-10 times per day)

Mine is on B191 and no new updates?
I have pra-lx1...
What's going on?

Google Play services beta update fixed all my issues.
Follow this tutotrial to install beta update
https://developers.google.com/android/guides/beta-program

I cleared app permissions which seems to have resolved the issues

mmm, for me, the solution seem to be the removing of the google assitant widget... and regarding updates, a few minutes ago I was notified that there is a new update: PRA-LX1C432B212

Google Beta worked for me so far.
But I just got greeted with an update to B212.
Changelog: This update improves system security with Google security patches.
And it updates the security patch level to May.
Haven't tried it though.

Screen gets darker in some apps

I've got p7 l10 with emui 3.0 b609. And I'm experiencing 2 issues:
1. In some apps (Firefox, chrome, sms bulit in app) screen goes darker when app is opened and goes back when its closed or just minimalized. I've got auto brightness off.
2. Bluetooth is turning on by itself. I'm not sure if it's happening everywhere but it happens very often while using chrome.
Help!
Hi. For the first issue with the screen: in phone manager in power saving what power plan you have selected? Normal or Smart ?
In Mate 7, I have the same issue with the new firmware b125 when the selection is on Smart when browsing the internet. But if I change to Normal, the brightness of the screen remains the same all the time, so the.issue is gone. You can test it, maybe it's the same for you.
In the previous firmware b120 this issue it's not present under Smart selection, so it's the new firmware with the problem.
This is it. I was using 'Smart'. Now on 'Normal' that is not happening. That solves the first issue.
However bluetooth is still turning on by itself

Nice . I'm glad that this 'fix' it's working for you also. It's from the firmware and I don't know why huawei did this change, it's annoying.

I don't have this issue with bluetooth. Some quoestions/possible solutions:
1. Did you try to reinstall Chrome?
2. Did you try to restart your phone?
3. Did you try an factory reset?
4. Maybe you have an app/game installed that could turn bluetooth on automatic?
Beside the brightness turning darker on browsing, b125 firmware for my mate 7 had another issues and I made an downgrade to an previous version which is more stable ( the one that came with the phone b120). Maybe you can try an downgrade to a previous version for your phone.

1. Only reinstalled updates cuz no root.
2. Yup
3. Nope
4. I don't think so. As I remember problem appeared pretty soon after installing b609.
Today also bluetooth turned on by itself outside chrome, so I don't know anything now. But it's very rare outside chrome and very often inside.
I don't want to downgrade. Previous version is previous emui and I love emui 3.0.
A little update: from some longer time problem no longer appear. Maybe some of chrome updates fixed something. I have no idea. It may be a mistke, but recently my wifi turned off (happened two times in few days). It could be a missclicking while using options panel, but who knows

L09 Nougat - auto screen dimming in Chrome or dialer

Hi guys, does any of you know how to disable auto screen dimming in chrome or dialer or email on nougat? MM had different power profiles that allowed user to pick whichever they prefer. Such option is not available in Nougat. This is quite annoying I have to say as screen in web browser is constantly much dimmer than elsewhere.
I understand battery life consideration at all but above is not a good experience really.
I'm on 378 (just got OTA today). Stock.
Thanks
This is due to the OTA. Had the same issue and fixed it with the following procedure:
Downgrade to B182 FULL rom by using the official Huwaei downgrade package (from Nougat to C300 and than using dload to install the full B182 package).
After that is installed and the phone boots you go to hicare and enable 'pioneer' os package. After a few minutes check the updater app in setting and you will get the upgrade package to B378.
Install it and gone are the issues.
Well it appears that auto dimming is a feature of nougat on P9. Officially updated phone also exhibits this issue -brightness change depending on the app. quite annoying to say the least.

When coming from B182 and updating to B378 via the updater (official update) I do not have this problem. Once I do a factory reset then the problem arises...
Annoying 'feature' to say the least
Totally agree.
As a side note: a friend of mine owns Honor 8. Guess what? He did update his device to N and it exhibits exactly the same annoying issue: screen auto dims once dialer or chrome are launched.
Someone at Huawei should literally be kicked in the b for this. No choice to disable this annoying feature, nothing.
It's not the Nougat! I have the same problems with B166 and B182!
laboratik, how do I "enable 'pioneer' os package"

in the hicare app you should have an entry/button that marks 'os pioneer' clicking on that immediately gave the option to upgrade to the latest b378 from the updater app. as long as you do not factory reset your device you wont have the screen dimming!

On b182 you can go to power settings and enable performance power plan - this will fix the problem. No such option in N unfortunately :/

November update AOD issue.

Hello,
So since I installed the November patch few days ago, the AOD stopped working properly. It doesn't recognize any touch and lost the double-tap functionality, except when using the S Pen, then it works like a charm. I have no idea why this is happening but it's frustrating. Anyone else experiencing such issue?

What's your region? Notification popped up today (am in the UK) to update November security patch (see image) but I haven't. Just wondering whether I should cos this seems to be an issue.. especially when software updates start to crash your device ?...or make it "malfunction"

Eastern Europe. And cannot tell you to either do or do not update. The only thing I got form Samsung Support was to do a factory reset which was a ridiculous proposal.

I took the risk, updated today and it's been fine. Really crazy that Samsung suggests a hard reset. Hope u manage to sort it out.

On November security patch(build ARK3) as well on the Exynos, with no such issues.
Erase cache in recovery and re-check, well and good it it fixes, if not do a "reset settings", if still fails, do a "factory data reset" as you have no other option.

Where's the update?

I received my Preview 9 yesterday (from B&H) and I'm starting to find my way around it. I've seen the articles mentioning the first update for it, aging face recognition, but how do I get the update?
My security settings don't have a face recognition option, and under the phone version it shows I'm running Android 9 security patch Jan 1. If I check for updates, it tells me my system is up to date ...
Same here.
Have you gotten the update yet? I didn't get an alert about the update for a day or two after I got it, though due to my own stupidity checking for updates WASN'T the first thing I did. Oops. But mine eventually updated to the Feb 1 update.
It took a few days for the update to show up on my phone. Purchased in the US but using the phone in Canada. I checked for updates repeatedly and after about 48 hours with the phone, the update appeared.
Thats normal it does take some time for OTA update and that depend in the country and ur location
mine came with the update pre installed. But no sight of the march security update, I thought that timely security updates was part of the Android One experience
20-03
No update as of this moment. but my xz3 received it also the note 9 received it. Not impressed by Android one so far. But perhaps it will get better
Mine updated as soon as i powered it on, but it was not March, only Feb update. I got it from Amazon. Did you try updating it with or without the sim card?

Question Redmi Note 10 Pro started to occasionally unlock itself when receiving notifications

Since the 13.0.4.0 update there were a couple of times when a notification opened the phone's home screen without me unlocking it rather than just lighting up the screen.
Is anyone else having this too?
Yes, I too have the same problem with MIUI 13.0.3.0

That's basically one version before the current one? Because I don't think I had this bug on the MIUI previous to 13.0.4.0.
Has it started to happen only during the last couple of weeks for you or ever since you've installed 13.0.3.0?
I don't know if it's the penultimate version, because it doesn't show me any available updates, so for me this is the latest version available
Yes I have this problem since the update... Besides this problem the phone also started to be terribly slow, it freezes, the screen lights up for no reason, and besides I have some problems also with the vibration due to the pressing the keys, it stops working and then starts again when a notification arrives.
Worst update ever.

Strange, do you have some local version of the phone? The latest update available for me was MIUI Global 13.0.4.0 Stable (SKFMIXM).
I don't know about the rest of your issues, stuff like Netflix hanging up occasionally already happened on earlier versions, perhaps it's a bit better now actually.
Also it seems the grey uniformity of the screen is slightly less blotchy now, which doesn't make sense for a software update to improve. Maybe the OLED getting older reduced differences in voltage response between groups of pixels?
good evening ,
Giovy 52845:
I would recommend resetting the phone to see if that fixes the problem.
Yes i have the same issue on miui 13.0.3
Hello there, registered an account just to write here, I had the same issue, trying to change the notifications, unlock mode, even reseting my phone and all settings I could to fix the unwanted unlock, nothing worked.
But lately, I uninstalled the Vanced Y*utube apps, wich is no longer suported since late march if i remember right, and boom, after a restart of my Redmi Note 10 pro (MIUI 13.0.4), didn'tunlock on notification since 2 weeks!
Hope this help.
I have the same issue, and I am currently on MIUI Global Stable 13.0.8.0 (SKFMIXM). The problem is intermittent, but it happens often enough to be VERY TROUBLING. I reset my phone to factory settings but the problem persists. Looking at this thread as well as other forums, I see this has been an issue since MIUI 13 was first launched.
Note, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE !!! IT IS ESSENTIALLY A SECURITY FLAW !!! Xiaomi should treat this with the HIGHEST PRIORITY !!! I use NFC for payments. If my phone gets stolen, then there is no immediate protection against fraudulent use of my Wallet since it can be unlocked without any form of authentication ! If this ever happens, and Xiaomi is not proactively and very expeditiously resolving this issue, I will hold that company responsible !

Yup, it's still happening and I realized eventually that the issue is the phone itself simply doesn't lock itself sometimes although the display is turned off. When it happens the fingerprint sensor won't open the screen as it's not actually unlocked, you need to press the button and you can see the screen lights up without actually going through the unlock process.
+1
Currently, I am facing the same issue on the latest Xiaomi.eu ROM V13.0.12.
Earlier I faced it on the stock MIUI after the V13 update.
