Questions regarding rooting & Unlocking BL - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

Used to root etc on old phones, taken a long break from it all but I have sent a request to Huawei to get my unlock key for my P10 VTR-L09C440, however I have a few questions I hope can be answered.
1. Can I re-lock my bootloader after unlocking, and if so does it say anything like "bootloader relocked" or anything like that or is it completely back as it was?
2. Can I use restricted apps (I know I couldn't use Barclays and I think one of my betting apps and Google Pay were restricted), has this changed now or can Magisk etc actually hide BL unlock / root / whatever it is it doesn't like?

I would like to know that too

1. No, when you manually relock, the bootloader status is "RELOCKED". To lock the bootloader you need to use HWOTA8, FunkyHuawei or FirmwareFinder and update to the newest version. Both will cause factory reset.
2. When you rooted with Magisk most apps with Root detection will work, when you enable "Magisk Hide". I use it on my bank secure tan app and Mario Run without any problems. Some friend are using Magisk Hide with other banking apps without any problems, too.

I haven't rooted and unlocked myself but I read about an important part of the process.
First of all you have to enable oem security in developer options, otherwise you risk the FRP lock.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

OK great, thanks for the info. I have actually finally just heard back from Huawei so code should be imminent. Unfortunately my battery as stock seems to be awful so I need to try something to make it last a day at least.
Does Magisk hide make Android Pay work too?
I think I'm right in thinking that banking apps and the like often check bootloader status rather than just root. I assume Magisk doesn't hide this?
If I go back to stock and relock bootloader, will the apps also still register that the bootloader has been unlocked and still not work?
TIA

Can someone confirm this please? Does anybody use Android Pay and Barclays confirm Magisk makes it still work with Bootloader unlocked?

Rooting noob here...

I just want to root my HTC Desire 510 in order to use Xmod game assistant and just to delete bloatware. I tried using kingoroot, it said success, but it actually didn't even work. I found out that you need to unlock the bootloader. I don't really want to this, i have no interest in it. I was thinking of using Kingoroot's HTC bootloader unlock to unlock it, then root it using the kingoroot rooter, then re-lock the bootloader with the Kingoroot bootloader program. Is it risky? Please note my phone has no important data, it's new. And I do not want to install anything custom. Just get xmod and remove bloatware. That's all I need.
Would this all work? Please help.

No this won't work and the number one reason is because if you root the phone and then spend your time deleting all the bloatware you'll be wasting your time if you don't install a kernel with write protection removed because as soon as you reboot the phone will reinstall everything! So you need to unlock the bootloader and then install the custom recovery and then make a backup first before doing anything else and then install the kernel with write protection removed and then delete bloatware!
Ok, I decided I don't want to remove bloatware. I am just rooting so I can download Xmodgames and such apps that need a rooted device. No custom ROMS or anything. Would I be fine?

Yes. Although be warned rooting will restore the phone to stock after unlocking the bootloader.
Can you even use the phone if you make changes? What I mean is isn't the point behind a locked bootloader to keep changes from being made? So if you unlock -> make a change (rooting for example) -> then relock .... doesn't that equal bootloop when the bootloader notices you've changed something?
For my two cents... I'm probably more of a noob than you @uRager, and I got through the unlocking and rooting process with not too much trouble. I think the good old fashioned way will probably serve you the best. And there are several kernels that are just a modified version of the stock kernel (write protection removed) so a couple more minutes will get the bloat removed as well. Also don't be afraid to ask questions, from what Ive seen they usually get answered.

Lock, relock bootloader

Does anyone know if there is a zip that is recovery flashable which can lock and relock the bootloader through recovery? I guess what I'm wondering about is there is a Aroma zip HTC users use called Guru which can lock and unlock the bootloader without a the need for a PC. If no big deal....
tapPeD fROM my neXus 6
probably possible, but its a god damn horrible idea to re-lock the bootloader once you have made ANY modifications to the phone.... We get enough "Phone wont boot for me to switch on "Allow OEM Unlock and bootloader is locked" threads.
The only thing relocking your phone does is prevent a thief from wiping it so they can use it. At that point your phone is stolen anyways, you really want to limit your ability to fix it should you have problems just to stop someone else from using the phone once you no longer have it in the first place?
I guess the only reason why I was asking is because I'm assuming you cannot use Android Pay while the bootloader is unlocked. Is that true or no? Otherwise, I completely agree.

well, if you need a zip to unlock your bootloader via recovery, then itll never exist, as you need to unlock your bootloader before flashing a recovery.

you can use android pay with an unlocked bootloader. In fact the only thing that prevents android pay from working is root access or core system file modification (xposed level).
I've currently got the viper/dolby atmos mod installed (adds apps to /system), docs sheets and slides uninstalled from system(deletes things from system) , elementalx (doesn't mod system) and cataclysm installed (mods system.. lightly I guess?) and android pay still works if you disable root.
Also you can use this app to test if android pay will work adding mods 1 by 1 without having to go through the card adding and pay testing. If it shows green android pay should work.

No. Android Pay is based off your ROM not the bootloader. I flashed my phone back to stock with a unlocked bootloader and it worked (well it would have but my bank is not participating in it yet). You can also do OTA updates on a stock ROM with an unlocked bootloader.
I know that this has been said before but I agree with it, there's no point in re-locking your bootloader unless you have to send it back in or are turning it back to 100% stock. Just causes more problems than it's worth.

Oreo bootloader unlock and root questions

I have a p10 vtr-l09 8.0.0.327(c654) security patch nov 5 2018. I live in Canada and am getting sick of these Amber alerts waking me up at all hours of the night. (In Canada all alerts are sent as presidential) So I want to root and remove the cell broadcast apk. I have not done anything with this phone as of yet. I have rooted all my other phones to date. I got my bootloader unlock code from huawei before they stopped giving them out. My questions are as follows. 1. with my security patch level at nov 5 2018 will i have any issues unlocking my bootloader. I saw people having issues with unlocking the bootloader and using dc unlocker to get the code. I assume because i already have the code i should be fine? 2. After unlocking and installing twrp is magisk the best or only method of root? 3. After installing magisk removing the desired apk , is removing root by magisk easly done? . 4. Lastly Do most leave their bootloaders unlocked? I have with my sony phones in the past, just wondering. Thank you
You don't have to unlock bootloader to uninstall app. Only root will do. Do something like kingroot, and then uninstall unwanted content trough app. Of course be wise and think before what do you wipe. Some core and google apps are inportant for funcionality.
Is it Posible to Downgrade The Huawei P10Lite anyway to Root it and unlock bootloader than?
I need to install Custom Rom on P10Lite the Stock Firmwire is Sh**!!

Does kingroot modify the system partition? Reason being is I don't want to have Google's safety check flag it so I can't use specific apps. That's why I was considering unlocking the bootloader flashing a custom recovery and flashing magisk. I guess what I'm looking to do is either a hidable root, or a root and remove APK , then unroot. Banking aps are my concern, I don't want to root then not be able to use them. I used root cloak with xposed to hide it before. Not sure if it's still an option

Does Kingroot work with Oreo and unlocked bootloader? Is it how you got it working on your phone?

Question how to relock the bootloader?

hi guys ,
i want to make my oneplus 10 pro 2213 model back to store condition
how can i lock the bootloader?
i cant find any answer anywhere and im not sure if fastboot enhancer is the solution
my device is fully work btw
thanks
it's highly recommended that you don't do that. Most of the devices I've seen get brincked in that operation.
But if you wanna proceed with that, you have to flash the stock image back again, there must be no changed image (boot, recovery, system...).
And then you can run the command "fastboot flashing lock"
what about msm tool
anyway to do that with the tool ?
There is no tool current available to O10PRO, all there is require username and password.
A lot of people, myself included, are waiting for a msm tool so we can fix our devices.
OK
so if my bootloader is unlocked any problem for gpay ota ect?
It may not work .. Netflix doesn't work for example. Gpay as I don't use can't say for sure

No unlocking the bootloader will not effect gpay or any other banking app. Now if you are rooted then yes gpay and banking apps will not work. You will have to use Magisk to fix that.
Well I'm not sure

That could be the difference between the 2213 and 2215. I got my 15 from OnePlus carrier unlocked. That's the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader. Now my gpay, paypal and my banking apps all work. I'm not rooted yet I'm just waiting on a full rom update to get the boot.img. But I see that OnePlus is going to post oxygenOS 13 today. I might check it out. OnePlus has really done a number to the 10 this time. As for as Netflix I think there is a thread in here some place.
Hi guys
Anything new in the MSM tools?
Or maybe any other way to lock the bootloader?
look on GitHub for fastboot enhanced works really great as long your in de bootloader you can do every command with just a click i was thinking on doing that my self to but then i saw something's what i want to try out and there is also a fastboot ROM in the forums maybe that you help you too
Thanks !
I will read about that!
i have the same question.
I have a NE2213, unlocked and rooted and now want to sell it.
So my plan was to uninstall Magisk with all Modules, do a factory reset, update to NE2213_11_A.16 and then relock the bootloader.
since i am only rooted with stock rom - the only changed image should be the boot.img which will be stock after i update zo A.16.
Should be right, isnt it?
since my only other option ist to contact the support for a online MSM-Tool, which i need to do anyways when it does not work - i would give it a try...

Fastboot commands for restoring to stock worked for me.
OnePlus 10 Pro Fastboot ROMs (and how to make for any device)
First of all and most importantly, I want to say that this is not my work. This is a port of the work done by @abhinavgupta371 and @HELLBOY017 for the OP9RT. I merely made sure there weren't extra or missing files and edited the .bat and .sh...

FYI - Was able to lock the bootloader on my OP 10T, A.06 Oxygen OS.

Question Updates about Realme 8 pro modding options

Hi all, i don't follow modding world from a while so i don't know what happened more or less into the last 3 years, so now that i need to root the device i wanted to do some questions.
I bought a realme 8 pro at the dayone and now i have the last update installed (so realme UI 4.0). I wanted to do the root but i don't know how much realme support it, if the bootloader is locked or not, ecc. ecc.
I saw in this phone thread that there is a method (the guide is written in May, 14 so it seems very recent) about unlocking bootloader (so i guess is locked?) using deeptest, i tried to read but i didn't really understand what kind of thing is that. So i wanted to ask, what is deeptest? if it is locked, if i successfuly unlock this bootloader what happens to AIO updates? (I guess there will be no updates such as other devices?). If the AIO updates stop to work, Is there a way to manually download and install updates? Can i root this device using magisk for example? I have seen there is something, but there are these things i can't understand.
Thanks in advance for replies and sorry for my bad english.
Hi, yup, the bootloader is locked.
Deeptesting is an app by realme used to request an unlock code. You can try this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-bootloader-help.4425415/post-86777721
Try submitting your application, if it tells you "Your model doesn't support deeptesting" you'll have to follow my guide.
Either way, after a bit of waiting, inside Deeptesting → query approve result → start Deeptesting.
Doing this allows your phone to boot into fastboot. Where you can unlock your phone using
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data.
Hi, thanks for the reply! So there is a method to unlock the bootloader. But if i do it, i can't update anymore my device via OTA, right? How could i do that thing. In addiction, is not possible to obtain root permission without bootloader unlock? Because i need root to save whatsapp messages 'cause the application is stupid and can't do a backup by itself.
In addiction... I downloaded deeptesting and my phone does not support it. Yeah
You can get OTAs if, and only if, you didn't modify the firmware. Unlocking itself doesn't break OTAs, but rooting/custom kernels/vbmetas etc. will.
You can't get root without unlocking. As per Whatsapp, I think you can use ADB to back up data without root.
Thanks again. As i know ADB is disabled for whatsapp from a while. Ok then, thanks anyway for all informations. I guess after the bootloader unlock i can install magisk to obtain root acces.
