Is it possible to get the p20 pro stock recovery image for reflashing so i could update the firmware?
Or do i need to completely restore my phone for it?
Thanks for the help!

fastboot flash ramdisk RAMDISK_8.1.0.106_CLT-L29.img

Hello starbase64,
Shouldn't it be fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RAMDISK_8.1.0.106_CLT-L29.img ? like when flashing TWRP using fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img
I'd like to return to stock to perform an update as well and got "surprised" that there is a difference in the command between the 2 recoveries - but as this is the stock one, this could be a reason...
Thanks a lot

Hi,
does anybody have the stock recovery for CLT-L09 (single-SIM)?
Or can I use the L29 recovery?

How did you extract the file?
I extracted the file ramdisk_a.img from UPDATE.APP, and flashed it, and it bricked my phone...

This seems to work with the P20 as well according to the description:

You will need to flash the stock recovery in the same way that you flashed the TWRP recovery. So the way I would do it is connect phone to laptop..then use command
"adb reboot bootloader"
Then when your phone is in bootloader mode and with the stock recovery in the same folder as where fastboot and adb are use the command
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
And replace recovery. img with the name of the recovery u want to flash.
Then reboot and you should be back to stock
I am on L09 but if you want I can upload my recovery
Edit: I found a stock recovery file in a thread, this is the one I used on my L09 - READ THE COMPATABILITY WARNING BEFORE FLASHING AS YOUR OWN RISK

If you want to try you can see how here

Make sure the ROM you have is the full ROM and not the update because the update might not contain recovery.img
The B103 is CRR-UL00 . Because i saw CRR-UL00-C00B104-unicom.zip. It is the firt at needrom.com

Hello my friend brumgav I download-- CRR-UL00-C00B104-unicom --. I use the- -HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.3-- I found Recovery.img. I have to install it with -Minimal ADB and Fastboot- and I am OK ? I used the -Minimal ADB and Fastboot- for installing the TWRP.
extract the recovery.img from your current update.app. then flash the img-file like you flashed the twrp recovery.
OK I did it
1. I use the- -HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.3
2.I found Recovery.img and I flash like the TWRP and everything is OK.
Thanks everybody.

you need the working OEM-Unlock option in your settings or an TWRP backup without FRP-lock.
even with TWRP recovery you can´t flash anything with adb/fastboot while your device is FRP Locked.

Recovery vs eRecovery

Hi there.
I have been flashing ROMS since ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) but for the last 18 months I have been a bit disconnected from it.
I am also new to everything Huawei.
I find a lot of times people referring to the eRecovery.
Where does this terminology (eRecovery) differ from the normal recovery, be it stock recovery or TWRP?
Is this eRecovery a Huawei thing or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.
It is nothing to really worry or even think about. I don't think you can get rid of it or even if you could there is no reason. It's just second recovery which does a different things than the normal stock recovery. I think the eRcovery is needed for the stock update, but normal recovery isn't(not completely sure about this).
It is just good to know that device also has eRecovery, because there are some users who install TWRP and then they boot to eRecovery and then they think the TWRP installation failed.
I don't know is it just huawei thing.
Hope this helps a bit, even though it's a bit messy info.

Thanks for the information.
It has definitely given me a much better idea regarding what is eRecovery.
Much appreciated.
it's basically useless on this phone. it will never fetch any package nor restore your device. most people either just keep it and dont bother using it or flash TWRP over it. by having stock recovery as 'recovery' and TWRP as 'recovery2' you can have access to official OTA updates yet still being able to do everything you could do with TWRP

Nice! I am interested in that!
Keeping both recoveries and not loosing OTA sounds good to me.
Have you any idea how to accomplish this please? Any link or for that matter where could I download stock recovery for PRA-LX1?
Thank you!

I was really trying to find the stock recovery for PRA-LX1 from somewhere. Very handy!
Now, having both recoveries flashed, I gather that there will be also the need to unroot when I want to receive OTA or not?

nope! you can install OTAs with root and unlocked bootloader (although you have to download and install FULL-OTA packages. basically just clicking three dots when you've received an update and selecting 'download full package' or something like that)
Hello! My Y9 2018 FLA-LX3 uses fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk for TWRP, but it removes stock recovery. Can I flash TWRP to the recovery2/erecovery slot? And if so, what is the command? I have ramdisk, so to flash TWRP I'd use recovery_ramdisk instead of recovery. So, do I use recovery2_ramdisk? Thx!

Yes, you can flash TWRP over eRecovery.
Since A8 and above you can not install TWRP over eRecovery from fastboot, only from TWRP:
- Copy TWRP file to the SD card
- Boot in TWRP, select storage - SD Card, select "Install image", find TWRP file and mark eRecovery, swipe.
- reboot .

Oh thx! But I don't like it bc my goal is to leave stock recovery INTACT. So, I've been also trying to use fastboot to use fastboot boot "TWRP".img That's my goal, even though it hasn't worked. That is my ideal solution. Thx"!

And what's stopping you from installing TWRP instead of eRecovery and then installing Recovery back?
No matter what your ideal solution is, this is the only way.
Okay. So, I can an have tried to install TWRP just normally using fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img That works, but the issue is that I can't find the stock/original recovery.img to replace it with when I'm finished. I extracted the UPDATE.APP and found a recovery_ramdisk.img. I am kinda scared to try to flash it using the same command for twrp, so I haven-t tried it. Can u pls tell me if I shall do it So in theory, fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img
Oh and FYI, that image was extracted from a working UPDATE.app I used for my particular phone and it has always worked, just that it restores EVERYTHING. I just want the recovery back when I finish with TWRP. I-m giving it away and dont want the new owners messing with TWRP, since it can do harm to the phone if misused. Thx!!!

PRA-LX1 Bricked (Command not allowed, package info failed)

My device: PRA-LX1 (Dual SIM version)
Got bricked. I was installing Google APPS on EMUI (Dumb) and it just kept on looping and restarting.
I decided to try the rescue zip and when I successfully restore it, it boots back to TWRP after I reboot to system.
My recoverys: TWRP (installed on recovery2) and Stock EMUI Recovery (installed on recovery)
Bootloader: Unlocked
Fastboot: Command not allowed
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Hello, is the FRP status on fastboot mode LOCKED or UNLOCKED
if it's UNLOCKED then you can unbrick it using fastboot to flash boot.img system.img and do a full wipe of your data partition.

I already booted, that's good news!
Now I've got a problem. The famous unbrick guide everyone uses - the firmware is buggy for me.
Fingerprint scanner doesn't work - camera doesn't work and audio doesn't work.
I think this is a problem with the firmware as they are more models of the PRA-LX1?
Btw, how do I find mine?
Thanks
My model is the Europe unlocked dual sim one

P20 Pro (Clt-L09) Hard-Brick, can not solve for a week..

Dear Friends,
I have Huawei P20 Pro (Clt-L09) with firmware of "CLT-L09 9.0.0.108(C432E5R1P7log)"
It was my last firmware.
I have formatted my phone.
It has an unlocked bootloder but it has a locked FRP.
My phone is bricked now.
I can not install any firmware because of locked FRP.
I have tried the most of the things i have seen in internet.
I can not install any firmware.
I can not install TWRP.
I only have fastboot&rescue mode.
Do you have any solution for me?
Thanks for your troubles in advanced.

Has you tried to remove the FRP with methods shown on youtube? lots of them show a work around and need to have a usb c dongle so that you can use a usb stick to install a app you need to unlock.
I have the same issue after to want to downgrade from 9.0.108 ... hard brick. Rescue mode + fastboot...
I try everything and i talk with a lot a people on telegram group... I try to flash every img file, ect... No solution... Maybe the SigmaKey Dongle (Huawei Edition) but 100€.... I send back my phone to huawei and i will wait two weeks. I hope i will go back with a firmware....
I'd recommend using the HiSuite / Funky method.. Its unsupported by funky and costs a few $$ ... but worked wonders for me in a similar situation.

But i thought huawei wouldn't give you warranty with a unlocked bootloader etc
i have solved this problem by flashing pie img files via fastboot.
kernel.img, system.img and recovery_ramdis.img
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
reboot after flashing in recovery and take factory reset, then twrp works again.

This method bricked my device.

P20 Pro - Bricked - tried everything...(!)

I was rooted through Magisk on firmware .255, but I saw an approved update for firmware .280 which I wanted, and I also wanted to go back to stock for a while. I downloaded the update.zip, extracted the .img needed and flashed accordingly; cust, erecovery, system, cache, kernel, recovery, userdata, etc, all I could.
I now can't get it to boot no matter what I try. I always end up on the screen "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" and then stuck on "Your device is booting now". I can get into eRecovery and/or flash TWRP.
I've tried the below;
Flashing dload folder on a USB OTG
Flashing update zip in TWRP
Flashing update zip with Huruupdater in TWRP
Flashing through fastboot update (update.app extracted)
Flashing through fastboot update_full_base (update.app extracted)
Going through HiSuite - it sees the recovery but then says "No recovery packages found for your phone"
Wipe data etc.
I did forget to remove fingerprint security before I did this, my bootloader is unlocked and FRP.
Genuinely never bricked a phone before! Any help would be appreciated.
I think it's because I need to flash boot.img but I can't see that when I extract from update.app
Does anyone have one please?

from other phone with magisk installed.
other thing you might want to try is enter stock recovery (not TWRP) and wipe /data and cache from there
just a heads up though,
your way of updating the OS is totally dangerous, you could.messed up partition,
you should use EMUI Flasher instead
I have a guide to fix this in the guides section. Follow it and you'll be fine.
Find somebody that had a p20 pro rooted to send you a backup of their software (with the data partition wiped).
