Moto X4 - RAM management - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Hello!
I'm thinking about buying Moto X4 with 4 GB of RAM, but after some research I found out, that RAM management on this phone is pretty bad. How it's looks in real life? How many apps wold I be able to keep in memory? Or maybe it was an issue only on specific Android version? Xiaomi Mi A1 probably don't have this problem, and can handle with 10+ apps running, but I don't know if I get used to that huge phone

Life with 1GB - How to live with 1GB RAM and hunger apps (Facebook)?

Hi guys,
I lived with low memory for a long time. Well, not ever. My first Android phone was a LG Optimus One, with Froyo/GB and 512MB. It was much memory (and useless, because the slow ARMv6 processor couldn't deal with it) compared the other low-end phones. The next phones, LG L3, Xperia Tipo, had the same memory size. Then I arrived to Moto G (falcon) times. Great specs (2013) to low-end devices. Revolution!
Three years ago we had JB and KK. Low system memory consumption. Facebook and Facebook Messenger was a single app. Whatsapp was lightweight. And 2GB phones was only for flagships.
Well, we come to today. Facebook alone eat more RAM than ever without Messenger. Whatsapp makes more and more things, and it occupies more memory. And Moto's LP and MM are heavy, much heavy. After some time trying to keep stock firmware, I wipped it and flashed XOSP, things are better, but not as desired.
Then, I ask you: how to live today with 1GB RAM? My Moto G 2014 "freezes" frequently. Multitasking is a dream. And Pokémon Go requires 2GB RAM devices (and crash sometimes because low RAM). Is there a hope? ZRAM? LMK? A lightweight custom ROM? Maybe an custom ROM compiled to optimize code size (using LTO?)?
Sorry by the sad mode. And terrifying english.
Hey,
i tested around with some custom roms, cause i had the same problems with the stock rom.
Finally i'm happy with this Turbo ROM ★ Layers ★ DUI [06/04/16][OFFICIAL] Custom Rom. I also flashed decipher as kernel. (not MPB) and installed greenify donate and l speed with the settings of amol amrit. Just deactivated the zram, cause Pokemon Go runs a bit better.
My G 2 feels like a new middleclass smartphone1!
Sorry bad english!
Pokemon GO is not working? Oh

I'm using Turbo ROM for like 2 months atm and it's almost perfect, but still has some bugs. I was thinking of giving another try to the MM Stock XT1068 but, you know, I'm scared of Motorola devs's work. Should I give it a try or keep with Turbo ROM?
Try it, for me it's working fine, with small debloat

Moto G5 plus Ram management fix!

Hey, as you know the ram management isn't that good in moto g5 plus considering it has stock android and 4gb of ram. So this little built-prop edit will make your ram management work fine as you expect from 4gb ram device
So i hasn't tested the battery life in-depth and I didn't test performance either after the edit, So if you find anything wired do let me know
UPDATE: My Method isn't any good the device shows black screens and it doesn't work good so I have deleted my video, sorry about your click!
Your youtube video says it is unavailable. Did you pull it offline or make it private?

someone tell me some good android rom that doesn't consume a lot of ram for moto g6

I want a ROM that gives me more ram memory free

Free RAM on all Xiaomi/MiUI

Is this the normal free ram on all phones?
How is it utilised so much?
When I had Mi3 with 2GB the free ram would be shown as ~800MB
With Redmi Note 3 it was again 50%
With Mi Note 2 it was~ 1.8GB & on rare occasions 2GB
With Redmi Note 5 Pro the same ~1.6-1.8GB
With now the K20Pro it's ~2.8 -3GB
So my question is - is it being utilised to keep MIUI stocks apps etc in cache & is there a huge difference between MiUI & other roms based on aosp etc?
Like basically ~50% RAM is always occupied so how is it being managed - like say on previous redmi note 5pro it was 2GB out of 4GB so if 2 GB here is OS related then why not 2GB again on K20Pro considering it's the same OS MiUI 10? Why~50-60%
I'm guessing on 8GB phones it'll be around 3.8GB free, right?
I wish someone can answer this, this issue is also stressing me out. All the default cleaner apps of the phone does not do anything. It's still running on background.
I kinda miss using a rooted phone. Can't install a custom rom yet because of the warranty.

Question New weekly changes on latest 21.7.21 CN/Xiaomi.eu Rom

Have you guys tried the new SWAP on WEEKLY 21.7.21 rom?
It supposed to decrease 5º celsius under load and decrease throttling and battery consumption.
CHANGELOG
System
New - Xiaomi.eu recovery ROM for Mi 11 Lite 5G (renoir)
New - Enabled "Memory extension (SWAP)" feature [Snapdragon 888/870/865 devices]
System launcher
Fix - Uninstalling apps using drag-and-drop was not working in drawer mode
EDIT: from what i gather it's supposed to increase your RAM by creating Virtual RAM using your UFS3.1 Storage, also decrease/use around 3gb of storage space like windows pagefile.

It actually does not increase your ram and is only used if you are out of ram, Considering the vast majority of phones have anywhere from 6GB - 12GB ram and the average user in all actuality uses no more than four, this is just a useless gimmick that will take up space on your sd card/internal storage and won't give you any performance boost whatsoever.
Back in the day, when phones only had 1-3GB ram, we would root our phones and use these swap files to help with opening files and running apps, but that isn't necessary in today's smartphone world.

Its built in to all MIUI, but only benefits phones with four or less GB of ram. Let me ask you, your phone has 12GB or ram and the average user only uses 4GB ram, how is this going to benefit you in any way?
How Much RAM Does a Smartphone Need?
Every smartphone needs memory, but just how much RAM does a smartphone actually need to work properly?

You need to understand how it works. It merely creates a swap file on your internal storage and with the amount of ram flagship phones have (the Mi 11 Ultra has 12GB), it will never, ever be used, but it will take up space on your internal storage, that you could use for other more important things, like pictures, videos, music, games, etc...
Well definitely is not a feature for flagships,

Not a feature for any phone with greater than 4GB ram.
