Honor Play, same specs than P20 Pro, different features? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi, just read some info regarding brand new, gamers oriented Honor Play, which packs same CPU and GPU than P20 Pro, with little bigger display and less battery capacity.
However, I'm troubled to think this is only advertising, regarding the turbo GPU thing and the supposed 7.1 sound capabilities, called "4D gaming", otherwise our phone should have the same features.
What do you think? Are they trying to sell their new toy, or in fact those things are already available or may be in the future through updates or modding in our phones ?
Also, suggestions about reposting to another topic will be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Big hug for y'all

P20 Pro will also get GPU Turbo. And it is not the same spec, smaller battery, no IP67, no good camera's and etc...

But GPU turbo sounds like a hardware feature, common sense tells that if this is the selling point of the Play, wouldn't be wise to make it available for other phones, that's why I'm asking in the modding forum.
Regarding the specs, I said smaller battery and bigger screen, camera is obvious

Coming from the OnePlus 5 and being a gamer myself I've tried a lot of emulators, Tekken 6 on the PSP works perfectly, half life 2 should work, gsmecube games, the p20 doesn't really need anything more tbh.
But if theres overclocking needed then I'd say a kernel app would be the best way and a custom kernel if needed.

This phone only costs around $330 on aliexpress. Incredible value. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/HUA...81dc-411a-901e-fcbb7453f03d&priceBeautifyAB=0

Where the hell did you find the same specs in those two very different phones.??? A totaly useless topic.

I agree.

Same CPU does not mean same specs.

i bought one, and i regret the decision mainly because of the camera. Buy the V10 instead of this gimmick phone.

Does god of war run at 60fps in ppsspp? How about ps2 games? Is it better than oneplus 5 at emulators? And have you tried wii games? How do they run?

PS2? No mate, ps2 is a long way off being playable.
Psp runs great for the most part. The game fluctuates between 40-60 usually around 45fps
But then again the OnePlus 5 never played it at a solid 60.
In fact neither did the psp, it had many drops in frames.
Playable? Absolutely, not my type of game but definitely playable..everything else has been spot on, for the most part they run at the framerate they should.
Perhaps if the GPU boost can be utilized for emulators it'll improve even more.
It's been superb for what I've used it for (the P20 Pro)

One thing I really liked about Windows Phone 7 games, it requires a free demo version in order to be an "Xbox Live" title. Android should have the same requirements if it wants to compete with WP7's gaming prowess, which imo, is the best mobile gaming you can get.

I have been playing it for a while and I have to say it is one of the best games on android.
very good game and well worth $3. Playing on NS and the only problem I have is some of the screens seem to not fit properly. Almost like the resolution of the screen isn't high enough to support all the menus in their native size.
Dual core processors are going to be more for efficiency than power. Better battery management and faster processing will in theory reduce battery consumption. None the less, you can count on me buying one

Real Racing 2 game to android market

Hi guys,
In case you don't already know this superb racing game with unmatched graphics and gameplay you really must check it out.
http://youtu.be/TOfG1zJbKbQ
The game features licensed cars and 15 player multyplayer mode.
Please help drawing the developer's attention to port this game in android market and leave your thoughts here: getsatisfaction.com/firemint/topics/will_real_racing_2_get_in_the_android_store
Sorry but i think this ain't gonna happen. This is a real console quality game, they spent a lot of money to develop it and optimize it to make it work perfectly for the a5 soc: porting it to Android will lead to insane costs in order to make it suitable for a hundred different pieces of hardware.
Nowadays Apple's app store sells 85% of all the mobile apps in the world, a serious game developer with working brain cells will never spend millions just in order to get to that additional 15% of the market that we represent. Also i'm pretty sure that even the most powerful hardware we have now on this platform would be unable to run this game properly: the gpu in the a5 soc is twice as powerful as the mali-400 in the GS2...

i'm just stunned, in every video comparasson of 4s and sgs2 the iphone gets bashed... come to think of it nobody mentioned in any comparassion (and i watch a lot) about the gpu/chipset diferrences... i guess it's never gonna be a fair "trail" between them and everybody is more or less a "fanboy" of either two..
L.E. after your post did some research and found this http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111026235448AArPNUy , it explains everything.
Thanks and ppl might as well leave this topic to "die"...
Well actually when i say that the gpu of the iPhone is faster i mean it really is faster, even on paper: it's not a matter of software. I read it here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined/17
When i got this phone i knew that the iPhone4s (or even the iPhone4) would have been better for games, but all in all despite the fact that mobile games can be fun at times mobile gaming in general kinda sucks in my opinion: sure you can have the best graphics in the world and whatnot, but the only games you can really play on a small touchscreen panel without going nuts are puzzle games (which look great on the huge Samoled+ of this phone), and those ones run on pretty much every piece of junk. At the end of the day those are the games you play the most when you're on the go, while instead those haeavy 3d games are mostly useless because of their complexity (not to mention the amount of battery they drain), so you end up playing them when you are at home on the coach. This sounds pointless to me because if i'm at home i'd rather like to play Battlefield 3 on my gaming rig: now this makes sense, don't you think?

Does the Xperia SP normally can handle all the high end games?

Does the Xperia SP handle most highend- games directly out of the box?
Or it requires some rooting, flashing etc.
I'm going to buy the phone soon..
Any recommendations accepted too..
4.3 [207/205] have ram problems. It fc most games. But in custom roms everything seems be okay. Recently I flashed mokee[4.4.4, ubl] and everything is perfect[battery lasts as good as 4.3 or even better, perfomance much better....]. If you want to stay with stock or stock based rom I didn't suggest you to buy xperia SP.

Well, let me put it like that. Our phone has about 60-65% of the GPU power the latest phones (The one with Adreno 330), our GPU has to render exactly half the pixels cause we have 720p display compare to 1080p. And that's indeed the case. In benchmarks Xperia SP has the same fps (frames per second) as HTC One M8, Xperia Z2, etc. ±10%
So, yes.
I myself am playing Asphalt 8, Dungeon Hunter 4, Dead Trigger 2 on highest setting with smooth gameplay and zero lag.
When it comes to "Stock vs custom ROM/kernel" performance, I'd say that there is significant no difference. Custom kernels give you a little bit CPU boost, but that doesn't really affects games, while custom ROMs's performance isn't as good as the stock one, since Sony didn't provide us with the source and we have to use hacks, in order to be able to run 4.4+.

In it's price range it's the best phone specs wise.
Moto G is a worth buy as well, but it has Adreno 305 which is about twice as slow as our Adreno 320. If you like gaming Xperia SP is the best buy, however it reached it's EOL so you must rely on custom ROMs for further software updates. While Moto G will receive Android L for sure, and I'm pretty sure Motorola will keep maintaining it at less till the end of 2015 since the new Moto G 2014 is pretty similar to the Moto G 2013. But still Moto G's LTE model with SD Card cost more, so you must put this in consideration as well. Going with either phone, you will be pretty pleased. But if I had to buy a new phone now and I had ~150€ to spend I will definitely go with Xperia SP.
P.S.: I have both phones.

this is phone is supposedly great but, as other user mention, the RAM is lacking so it makes it lagging. Sure some games run fine. but try playing real racing 3 with no modifications. it'll burn your battery (doesn't literally burn it, i just mean really hot) and it often lags.
camera wise, it depends on preference. for me this camera sometimes get awesome results outdoor, but it has same problem with many xperia phone. lots of noise if u zoom.
if u have time, read my 1 year review http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778795
The SP's gaming performance is pretty decent - and great for the price. If you're looking to get some idea of what 2D and 3D GPU performance is when choosing a new phone, searching for Antutu benchmarks isn't a bad place to start.
As for the camera, passable outdoors (but noisy), worthless indoors. Mine has even started taking out of focus pictures, even after half pressing camera button to focus first. Might be something to do with the len's protective film being removed (due to scratches)
The issue i have now is that it easily heats up when playing 3d games. Think before buying if you're a gamer.

Well I found out all devices I've ever used, my friends, my father's are all prone to heat up when playing high end games. This should not be the problem. As far as my inspection on my XSP, it won't get over the 41 degree Celsius barrier. However, I don't know about others though.
Now for some small hardware lecture. Ahem.
3D Games require more power
More power means the processor will step up its clock rate
Higher clock rate means higher power
Processors emits heat upon high power usage
Thus the heat you get.
Ambient temperature can make it worse too, so don't ever do gaming in a hot environment

Well what you feel is different from what it really is. I believe checking the CPU temp on the newer Sony devices (x degree), and compare with our devices (40-41 degree) will finally unfold the mystery behind XSP heating, perhaps?
And difference between dual core and quad core do play an important role, you know

That makes it seem ironic, does 4 cores draw more power compared with our dual core? I believe so, since newer Sony models have more or less 2.0 ghz clock speed. I still can't believe those devices felt less hotter given the power that they carry. Anyways, this is just my observation that I hope will benefit the soon to be owners of this device.

Do you activated performance mode?
I tried that but it didn't make a difference. After all, from what I know about performance mode, doesn't it only make your screen brighter?
Plus I also don't see why I would have to resort to turning on performance mode for a flagship
Samsung provides game optimization service and game tuner and stuff. It is worth a try.
I tried them as well. Still use their game launcher for my pubg but no effect as well

Yeah that's quite true, must just be my device, I'll try a reset maybe because I installed 3 updates one after another once I got it, maybe that's an issue
Nope just looked into in in depth, the Mali G710 is more focused on battery saving than stepping up the game, so inferior GPU, yes, yes it is inferior, look up specs and what it does before use comment your expertise, p7 is clearly a downgrade, Google can clearly add call screen and faster camera to p6p but do not, and the VPN could be added to p6 or p6p but is not, Google kinda screwed us tbh, p7 is mainly just better modem that's all, FA else
Just run any test, any test at all, you'll see the p6p greatly out performs p7 and also more battery drain, so how do you work this out, what use going to comment now? tech experts lol, clear as day p7 got **** on besides software upgrades that's all
Basically Google are suppressing the pixel 6 and 6 pro on what they are ment to do just to make the p7 and p7p look better
And the mali g710 is over a year old! There's a newer G715, out early this year

There's barely millions own the p7 or pro and even if a million people owned this phone only about 1000 of that million would game
I posted videos showing the performance has been found to be perfectly fine. Raw numbers don't mean jack crap. It runs games fine until you hike the settings and make it not fine. It's not a flagship and was never intended to be a flagship but the graphics performance between the two is not as large of a gap as you're making it out to be.
