No 64GB/4GB variant? - Moto G6 Questions & Answers

What on earth...? Why?

why what? have 4 gigs of ram? i dunno, seems pretty pointless on a 32 bit phone.

There is one, but it's an Amazon exclusive, so you'll get Amazon's suite of apps as well.

Good Lord

Get your facts straight before posting "Snapdragon 450 both have Octa-core 64-bit ARM® Cortex™-A53 CPU."

I was sad to find that the 4/64 Plus version of the G6 would not be available in the US.
I was browsing swappa, yesterday and came across a 4/64 regular G6 for sale.
I asked the seller where it was purchased. His reply was "Amazon, I think". I searched Amazon and found only A Prime version of the G6 with 4GB RAM & 64GB internal storage.
https://www.amazon.com/Moto-G6-Unlo...droidcentral00-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU6288350
I Google the phone and could not find it at any other store.
I contacted Motorola and asked why it was not on their web site. Haven't heard back, yet.
I prefer motorola phones. I've tried living without Moto Actions & Display, with A Nexus 6P and an OG Pixel XL. I couldn't do it and the fingerprint scanner on the back was too much to bear.
I really need 64GB of internal storage, and if this phone is like the X4, the OS consumed 13GB of the internal storage, which doesn't leave much on a 32GB phone.
I could easily live with the physical size of the regular G6, as long as it has 64GB internal.
I hadn't read anything about this version of the G6, before yesterday, but I did find specs identifying it on a couple sites, from a Google search.
Will Amazon Prime be the only 4/64 G6 available?

Just saying the Amazon prime models are not eligible for a bootloader unlock which means you won't be able to root or install custom recovery

No, i was adressing OP. I know the 64gb/4gb variant is not put for sale in the US, and i'm from the Netherlands.
I hope you guys are able to get your hands on the proper version. Perhaps buying them from a retailer here is an option?

pure guess but top phones all seem to follow the same pattern... $500 MSRP, $199 upgrade (maybe $50 mail in rebate)
optimus 2x cost
I heard that it could be upwards of 650-700$ range outright
Would this version of optimus 2x suoport tmobile 4g???

that'll be awsome...
does it support LTE?
Can anyone comment on what changes will the UI have now that the 2x has the "G" name? Thanks!

For the sake of clarity, since I have never owned an Android phone before- do you mean the UI is identical to the Nexus phones but OS updates will not mirror the Nexus' schedule? Thanks!
Yes, it will be like the nexus-no ui changes made by the phone company like Samsung Touchwiz on their galaxy s phones. The optimus 2x has lg's motoblur changes in their ui. The US version is unique since it supposedly won't have that, only pure android with no changes. Developers and fans are excited because it is FAR easier to work on clean android builds without manufacturer changes. Learn about "cm7" for example to see what I mean.
As far as updates, it is dependent on the phone manufacturer and the carrier it is on. LG has reported that this phone will launch with 2.2 froyo, but will get a quick update to 2.3 gingerbread which is the newest version of android (and hardly distributed officially at this point).

what is UP with that? don't most droid phones allow microSD? forgive me i haven't looked at new phones in a long while. if it is inside, is it easy to replace w/16 or 32GB? i don't want just 8GB. need 32GB or more... too bad it doesn't accept SDXC nor are there SDXC for cheaper. would luv a 128GB or 512GB SDXC micro card inside

thats because the microSD is inside the phone. I don't think they would allow them to take off the back to show us the microSD.
ah, ok. that makes more sense. i just hope it isn't like the Windows Phone 7 microSDs where it might brick the fone if you tamper w/the microSD card. it's a huge reason why i didn't go w/WP7.
hoping for a keyboard version in the future though... it will be interesting trying to text w/o a keyboard... since i'm so used to it.

It's up to 32gb btw.
Will it be released in April? Hrms, if so, shouldn't T-Mo or BestBuy or XXXX company put out the word for pre-orders? The date's right around the corner!
I heard this will be t-mo's 1st device that can support 42mbps 4G speeds.

What area are you from? I purchased a 128GB G920T from T-Mobile last week. They did not have any in stock at the local store, but they were able to ship one to me. Are you saying that this carrier no longer has the 128GB option or that it isn't in store anymore? Also, I would try swappa, I have had some relatively good success there. You're looking at about $600 for the phone if not purchasing it from the carrier though.

If I saw the 128 gig Edge on sale when I bought my regular S6.. I would of bought that instead..
Shame I can't find it in white anywhere, but I'm quite happy with my regular White S6..
What's gonna suck is the S7 is coming early next year, likely April is what the T-Mobile people are telling me..
Now that's the reason why they should have include SD Card slots like in the future you need a higher speed and capacity card. I discovered an app called Filmic Pro coming to android. I was excited that to tell my brother to get 128 GB high speed SD card for film recording* but found out that its not possible. Adding card slots isn't a huge loss even though majority people don't use it since the device is still being bought by both crowds anyway.
*Note: I use Canon EOS 5d Mark II and I still wanted to try out new things.

[HELP][VERIZON] Best phone to buy for root and Xposed.

As title stated. V10 boot looped but it's being covered under warranty. Unfortunately, I fully expect it to come back with MM or N which as far as I know isn't xposable or downgrade-able to LP.
What is the newest phone that I could get from Verizon or Best buy(can't afford to pay retail will have to use financing) that I can root and put xposed on? I don't care about TWRP or custom roming. If I have to get TWRP to root that's fine but I'm okay without it. I'd also like to avoid the "What do you need root for" discussions. I need certain modules, that you can't do without root.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Affordable option is a Moto G4 Play XT1607 which can be obtained online or through major retailers like Best Buy. Don't purchase through Verizion as their branded variant (XT1609) can not be bootloader unlocked or rooted. Comes with Marshmallow (Android 6.x) which supports Xposed Framework. Should be able to find in the $100-120 range USD; refurbs typically hover around $100.

I appreciate the input. The Moto G4 has an old cpu(Snapdragon 410 processor). I would like something comparable to my v10(Qualcomm Snapdragon 808). It was made in Oct 2015 and is almost 2 years old. Surely there has to be a phone released around the same time or later that is xposable?

Moto pure as mentioned by another poster. Also consider if you really need that horsepower. I have several devices with the G4 occupying the lower end. Performance is most noticeable when installing/updating apps on initializing a new ROM. Beyond that responsiveness mirrors my high end devices for daily tasks. Obviously does not apply if you game, manipulate video or regularly perform other CPU/GPU intensive tasks.
BTW - really isn't the right thread for this kind of Q&A. Good luck finding a replacement.

Thanks. I think I've just got accustomed to the response time of using my v10. When I'm constantly switching between apps, viewing media, uploading files, and using media apps that require Just-in-time downloads to use(Instagram/Snapchat) I hate the stuttering/pausing when slower phones like my g2(currently using) has that wasn't there for the v10.
I've tried reddit with no luck. I've also tried the thread the other member suggested because he said as much as you did about this thread but no one answered there either. I figured this would be the best place to find people using xposed devices who are on VZW and could just drop by and say "Hey I'm using this phone with xposed." Mods are welcome to delete this thread if they feel it's clogging things up or doesn't belong.

To my knowledge a phone has to be approved by Verizon to work on their network as well. If all the bands aren't supported, they'll never let you use it. You could buy a Nexus 6p, it's approved and you could flash back to MM if you need it that badly.

No chance of it being 14k. That's the price of Snapdragon 450 Moto G6.
They have priced the G6 plus at 22.5k so maybe they are planning to launch it between G6 and G6 Plus at 18-19k.
And that is just sheer optimism from my side. Knowing moto and their overpriced phones, I'm expecting 24-25k.

Sorry but i dont think they will launch this phone in Europe.
This phone has too many good features at too low a price. If you watch the launch event, you'll see how they kept emphasizing that they made this phone with the Indian customer in mind, who happens to be very price sensitive.
I'm hoping this phone launched in other markets and we get good dev support but somehow i doubt it. They want to you to buy overpriced G and G plus

If motorola releases kernel sources, many people will jump onto the bandwagon. And moreover, this same device launches as the P30 and P30 Note. With a slight variation in the spec sheet. Hence I expect development to be strong. Also its a Android One Device, you can expect 3 years of security updates.

If motorola releases kernel sources, many people will jump onto the bandwagon. And moreover, this same device launches as the P30 and P30 Note. With a slight variation in the spec sheet. I don't know about the history whether Motorola releases kernel sources early or it takes much time like xiaomi do. This phone will be my first Motorola phone but I do trust the brand that's why I am going for it. Earlier I had MI Max 2 which has quite bad development the main reason being xiaomi releasing the kernel sources very late. I mean the world is going for Android p and MI is still messing with nougat. Are you a developer? I have some knowledge of development but I cannot work from scratch. Feels like I am a copycat who just improvises[emoji6]

Motorola generally releases kernel sources in time. It already has the G6 series' sources available.
I generally find budget motorola devices to have good amount of support. I own a moto X play but sadly I cannot relplace its battery with an official motorola one so gotta change it. It runs Official LIneage OS 14.1 which is absolutely stable. I tested 2 Oreo Builds which work to the most extent but have a few bugs which make it a non daily driver material. Devs are still on it though. And some Xaomi devices have great dev suppport and some are absolutely trash, no offence to anyone.
I liked the motorola under google and my phone is from that age. As this device is under the Android One banner so I am considering it.
I am not a developer, I am a tinkerer. I don't critisize, I just inform things in a very detailed way.
I am in a dilemma between the Zenfone Max Pro and Motorola One Power. I prefer the Motorola One Power due to its software right now. I just hope they don't hold the dumb flash sales like Xaomi! ._.

which version we have of this beast?

What capacity model and ram do we have? me 12/256 version UFS 3.0 and you?
I think because the Realme X2 Pro is so cheap it's only logical to go for the maxed out variant of 12/256gb ......
After a few days of use I must say I am very pleasantly Surprised, even ColorOS is now very much usable as compared to my Find X.
I would highly recommend it (but buy the European version).

Yeah ! I don't hate colorOS at all, compared to this terrible MIUI I had on my ex MI9
I have since 5 days the 12gb European whiteversion, and , how to say.. this thing is a beast I already love...

Why would you need so much RAM? I feel like the 8GB version is more than enough. It has UFS 3.0. The only downside is the 128GB storage space, but with cloud services this is more than enough no? Makes me feel that the 12GB is a waste of money, even if it's only €50.

Truth being we/I Don't but if it's an option and given that this phone is so cheap, then reverse the question......Why not?......

True, you're making me struggle! Future proof perhaps? Also, why did you say to get the European version? Is it different than the global version?

Because it will ship with the Global ROM installed, Rather than the CN ROM.....?
I have the 8-128 in white
Since I was ok with 64GB on my Oneplus 3 (most of the time only 50-66% used space). I wanted to go for the 8GB/128GB version because of UFS 3.0
But since the biggest one was on sale on Amazon ES, I bought the blue 12 GB / 256 GB version instead.
I have the 256Gb in Lunar White, I've switched from a Sony XZ Premium which had a 64Gb card. I prefer to have more than enough space than juggling which is what I was doing with my Sony.

I'd kill to have MIUI on my X2 Pro.
ColorOS is a disaster and literrally ruins this device for me.
Everythings feels unfinished, almost alpha state. And the fact that realme plans to release Android 10 for their "flagship" in June/July 2020 is a joke.

According to their twitter page, the rollout starts around March, still not ideal for their flagship device

Still pretty dissapointing. I absolutley love the device itself but ColorOS and the disabled FP sensor when unlocking the bootloader is such a downer.
Also, for whatever reason, an external headset mic sounds like absolute garbage while using it in discord or any other voice applications.
