No chance of it being 14k. That's the price of Snapdragon 450 Moto G6.
They have priced the G6 plus at 22.5k so maybe they are planning to launch it between G6 and G6 Plus at 18-19k.
And that is just sheer optimism from my side. Knowing moto and their overpriced phones, I'm expecting 24-25k.

It is an India only device. So no sense in adding to the cost by including nfc because literally no one uses nfc here.

okay, then i can hope the european or china version have NFC ..

Sorry but i dont think they will launch this phone in Europe.
This phone has too many good features at too low a price. If you watch the launch event, you'll see how they kept emphasizing that they made this phone with the Indian customer in mind, who happens to be very price sensitive.
I'm hoping this phone launched in other markets and we get good dev support but somehow i doubt it. They want to you to buy overpriced G and G plus

If motorola releases kernel sources, many people will jump onto the bandwagon. And moreover, this same device launches as the P30 and P30 Note. With a slight variation in the spec sheet. Hence I expect development to be strong. Also its a Android One Device, you can expect 3 years of security updates.

I don't know about the history whether Motorola releases kernel sources early or it takes much time like xiaomi do. This phone will be my first Motorola phone but I do trust the brand that's why I am going for it. Earlier I had MI Max 2 which has quite bad development the main reason being xiaomi releasing the kernel sources very late. I mean the world is going for Android p and MI is still messing with nougat. Are you a developer? I have some knowledge of development but I cannot work from scratch. Feels like I am a copycat who just improvises[emoji6]

Motorola generally releases kernel sources in time. It already has the G6 series' sources available.
I generally find budget motorola devices to have good amount of support. I own a moto X play but sadly I cannot relplace its battery with an official motorola one so gotta change it. It runs Official LIneage OS 14.1 which is absolutely stable. I tested 2 Oreo Builds which work to the most extent but have a few bugs which make it a non daily driver material. Devs are still on it though. And some Xaomi devices have great dev suppport and some are absolutely trash, no offence to anyone.
I liked the motorola under google and my phone is from that age. As this device is under the Android One banner so I am considering it.
I am not a developer, I am a tinkerer. I don't critisize, I just inform things in a very detailed way.
I am in a dilemma between the Zenfone Max Pro and Motorola One Power. I prefer the Motorola One Power due to its software right now. I just hope they don't hold the dumb flash sales like Xaomi! ._.

Google had this on mind since before rhey bought Moto. What they actually got off that deal were the Patents. They need it more power against apple.

I knew they bought Moto for the patents, but I didn't think they'd drop them this quick. That said, Lenovo buying them could be a blessing in disguise. Lenovo almost runs the low end market and isn't known for uber locked devices like Moto is. I can see futute Moto phones being a much more open platform if Lenovo sees that the closed nature (and lack of updates) of Moto is their weak point. As for us and KitKat??? I dunno. I just hope it's not a wish in one hand, crap in the other situation. We really won't know anything until Lenovo releases their business plan.
Yeah i know. Google just trying to stay strong/stronger with their nexus phones. They will try the best they can to minimize the android manufacturing market and in the future narrow it to just be google phones on their operating system that be. The way i see everything they are doing is the way i picture this. :what: :banghead:
From what I've read Google might do away with Nexus altogether and is trying to pressure manufactures to not alter AOSP and release phones without Touchwiz, Blur, etcetera. Google's trying to only do the Android software and not hardware. Apparently some manufactures (Sammy) felt Google would screw them by releasing phones with newer Android versions first and make them look bad by being behind in software. IMHO, no Nexus or Moto Mobility not being Google owned might not be a bad thing IF manufactures actually release AOSP phones -- it could make the market more competitive in terms of quality hardware and price if manufactures weren't too busy doing piss-poor skins...granted some aren't bad, but most suck, especially 2.2 Blur.
Up!

Well if their record with the IBM Thinkpad and now their own branded devices is any indication, Google is right, Lenovo will do more good/right for Motorola Mobility hardware. It isn't/wasn't Google's intention on doing anything with the phone hardware market as they stated anyways.
As I said, I would have liked a Google Motorola Nexus phone, before they handed them off, but oh well. Here's to hoping Lenovo's strengths behind Motorola bares fruit and competition for the good of the consumers.

The X (Dev Edition) and G are the closest to a Moto Nexus that we'll get, sadly (I don't like either, wanted a G, no video out was the deal breaker).
Keep in mind that the sale isn't complete until the American Government approves it. The sale might not go through if AG doesn't want the Chinese (Lenovo) to have IBM and MM.

My thoughts as well. I'd have really considered the G if it had some sort of hdmi out, but I can't justify the X's price for some extra low powered cores and a spiffy design. I don't have to go into the lack of sdcards...I'm pretty vocal about that.
If we get Official KitKat with HDMI fixed and a 3.2 or 3.4 kernel then this platform will keep me happy for a good while longer, though I would like a phablet sized Atrix HD....or a phablet from Moto with the same usb/hdmi configuration we have (for my lapdock) and an sd slot. I don't need a tablet, but I'd like a slightly bigger screen for reading books. Hopefully Lenovo will come through and deliver where Moto's been failing. They're ambitious and want to have an American market, no screwing us and it up will give them exactly what they want (Sammy's Business).

Had to Google that. It's gonna be called the X Play and rumored to be released sometime this year. It better have an sd slot and the same usb/hdmi configuration or I'll be pissed....but I'd settle with 64-128gb internal if no sd is available....and an unlocked bootloader --> that's essential.
Rumors also said that Lenovo isn't gonna mess with what Moto is currently doing or their upcoming lineup. Hopefully that means our Kit Kat updagrade is still on track.
A 6.3" Moto. Now wouldn't that be nice. With it being called the X Play, I'm wondering if it'll be the X's Big Brother, with the Droid Quantum (the other rumored phone) being the new RAZR/Atrix model.

Nexus or any ither android phone?

Just a question.
I had been thinking a lot about this lately. I have P8 Lite, and although it is a decent phone and about a year old, it seems to me that it is already obsolete in comparison to other devices.
I am writing this thread here, cause I have this phone, and I guess many of might be anxious about whether we get the N-update.
So my question is: Is it worth buying an android manufacturer-branded phone (LG, Samsung, Huawei, etc) or a Nexus phone, since we know that these phones (Nexus) are the ones that would be supported the most from the developers and get much more updates than the others?
I am totally thinking about buying a Nexus.
What do you think.

Thanks. From what I've heard it's an amazing phone. But the question was not for me purchasing a phone, but whether nexus have an advantage (referringto the updates and the software in general) over the other phones.
To be honest, If I could afford buying it, I would consider doing so.

Nexus do support updates a long time. For example the 5x gets even android n. And even the support time is over you will get ports or roms that feature the newest android version because of the god source. Huawei supports their phones long too. I think we will get n.

Also the Nexus 5 is getting Android N which is funny and also the Nexus 4 which is 4 years old is getting a dev made N update XD. And so you can see that devices even older than the 5x are getting support... welp. That answers the questions. But the Nexus device line screwed up after the Nexus 4 since they were at first cheaper and made accessible for a lot of people and then right after that their prices went up. Of course that is inevitable if you want to produce a top notch device early enough but if it were up to me I'd get a 5x and the lowest I can go is a 5 since those two are at a reasonable price and offer good support plus performance.

The Huawei P8 lite feels a bit behind because it was released just before all phones started getting fingerprint scanners and fHD screens. Also our design is plastic compared to most phones offering glass and metal at the same price.
So, we have some hours before the official pixels presentation. I had been thinking of changing huawei p8 lite with a nexus (most likely 5X - it's cheaper, although it has only 2 Gb of Ram).
I think it is a decent phone and could provide a high level of customization, besides the fact that is upgradable to android N. Since we are going to have 2 more in the google family, do you think that each of them, worth the cost of buying? From what I've heard/read it's not going to be cheap, or at least in affordable price, each of them. What do you think?

What's your thoughts about this device ?

Asus recently announced their new flagship at a pretty aggresive price, for around 500$ you're getting an S845 with a big 19:9 ratio screen, dual camera, nice design ( maybe ruined by the notch ), you think the 5Z can compete with the Oneplus 6 ?
My opinion is that it's an iPhone X clone, there's no way around that. However, it's priced competitively and undercuts several SD845 devices. The only downsides really, would be Asus' track record with major OS updates, as well as their skin. I had the ZF2 3yrs ago and wasn't fond of their UI.
I'm sort of fascinated by the design, but I'm worried about development being DOA and the BL being locked. Also I want the normal ZF5 with the SD660 if it's below $300.
the specs looks good in my opinion.
maybe the only downside was the UI and development. ZF3 and ZF4 got only few roms.
but the device is running android Oreo now.
I'm eyeing now this device because of the wide angle lens, maybe this will be my replacement for my LG G5. I'm hating LG now for having select variants with unlockable bootloader and poor quality of the device.

In the US you have to buy the carrier free variant, but development is lackluster for LG phones now. V20 and G5 have some support, whereas previous LG models such as the G2-G4 saw more development. Sorta doubt things will pick up for the V30.
I'm hoping the ZF5's price will attract devs, especially those from oneplus devices.
icloned. I personally will never buy a device which is copy of an iPhone. During the presentation they seemed proud of it, heck they even called it the Fruit Phone X. Asus has just lost it, as has all the other OEMs who copy the Apple notch whether it be Moto, Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, LG. I would rather switch to Apple instead.

Hoping it also. :fingers-crossed:
Looking at price and specifications of the 5Z, as long as it's available with some kind of bootloader unlock then this is my preferred flagship beater. A single AOSP based rom like AICP or CRDroid for it and I'll be happy as long as we keep it up to date.

This!
This phone looks like really good hardware and actually from what little ice read, I'm seeing that Asus have gone a lot closer to stock with the software as well.
If the bootloader can be easily unlocked then all it needs is one AOSP ROM (which given it will be treble enabled shouldn't be too hard) and we are a go.
I really do think this will be a good device for them. With treble being mandatory for all phones shipping with Android 8, it should take away a lot of anxiety from manufacturers who provide poor software updates as long as the bootloader can be unlocked

well. we could ask the devs from ZF3 and ZF4 @planet9 @shakalaca @anhenrique if they will get the ZF5.
Looking forward for zenphone 5 with s636 price around below 400 and BL unlocked and source code release!
Seriously drooling over this 5z the specs are killer, as far as the notch I could care less that it resembles a essential p1. The specs the aspect ratio is spot on. Think it may be my next device after it's been out for a few months and see how it rolls. Hopefully Asus keeps the major updates coming for it and a place in the modding community. That sd845 tho.
I am considering this device. It seems to tick all of my boxes. I do wish it was waterproof, but for the price I'm strongly considering it anyways. Does anyone know Asus reputation with RF performance?

I think it's radio frequency, ie if this phone gets good phone reception.
There is also SAR (specific Absorbtion Rate). This is something that measures how much radiation a phone outputs to your body when the phone is at a certain distance. This is something that should be spoken about more. Phones can up the power for a better signal but it should be the optimisation of phone strength without outputting more radiation into your body.

G5s plus, G5 plus or G6?

I am looking for a new phone since my Moto G4 bit the dust last night and is no longer functional. Thank goodness for extended warranty which refunded $174.99 of the original $199.99 I paid for the phone 22 months ago.
Anyhow, I am torn as to which phone I should buy. The Moto G5s plus, G5 plus or Moto G6. I am finding conflicting reviews all over the Internet depending on what features the reviewer hold in the highest esteem. I recently bought a G5s plus for my wife and she loves it, but the camera is slow. The G6 plus is not available in the USA yet so that is not an option. I like that the G6 comes with Oreo and it seems to be a better choice as far as display and camera. But processor and speed the G5's seem to take the edge.
HELP!!! My head is spinning around in circles.

Hmmmm? Not according to Motorola's website.
You can pick up a G6 Plus on Amazon.com! I'm in the US typing on a G6+ and I love it! We are waiting for kernel sources so it shouldn't be long before we have TWRP working and there are already a few project treble based roms available such as RR Oreo, Los, or Aosp.

Wow! The price is higher than I expected. (G6+ = $380 - G6 =$250) Also, it is a no warranty phone so I would have to but a protection plan which jacks the price up another $80.00. Think I will go with the G5+.

I'm not big on third party warranty plans unless you get accidental damage coverage and if that is included then I feel it is always worth the investment even though NFC is useless for me. If the G6+ is out of your budget I understand but I think it's a great investment and since your posting on XDA I assume things like roms are important to you. In which case the G6+ is Project Treble compatible so the device will likely be wide open seeing as we have root and somewhat working TWRP. It's an awesome device though!

Yes, it is out of my budget. While I could go ahead and bite the bullet, I do have to put a limit on the purchase somewhere. I finally went for the G5+ 64 gig. The reviews and feedbacks on it were generally very positive and it gives me the options and features I want. Also it was $110.00 lower overall with the extended warranty which includes accidental damage coverage. I have had 3 phones covered with 3rd party plans and I had to use the coverage on all 3 (Ironically, all Motorola phones). So the plans have paid off well for me.
I realize that the G5+ comes with Nougat and is due for an upgrade to Oreo but that is also something I don't worry myself about. I find it amusing at how many users are constantly complaining concerning "lack of timely upgrades" from Lenova. It seems that as soon as a new version of Android is released, these forums are full of chatter about the subject of upgrades. For me, if my phone works and does everything I want as well as I want then that is good enough for me. When the upgrades come I am pleasantly surprised. I'm not one who insists on having the latest and greatest.
While I will eventually unlock my bootloader and root my phone as well as try the latest custom roms, it will be some time before I do so. I usually stay on stock for a few months before diving into the deep end. Thank you for the well informed feedback and suggestions, Didn't mean to get so verbose here but my first 2 cups of coffee have kicked in and you know how that goes.

Thanks just placed an order for one. Reading all the reviews and seeing lack of interest is the Motorola Edge Section I am a little afraid of the order and that there might not be a lot of development for this phone.

I worry more on accessories
Since it uses Note Edge type screen, finding and installing tempered glass can be difficult

That's true I haven't found a single case manufacturer create a case for this phone yet. Also Just saw Motorola's site and they are using USB 2.0 instead of 3.0. Recently my OG Pixel died and now I need a phone, this phone does meet my hardware requirements at a lower cost than other phones out there.
Motorola is also taking orders directly.

That's my concern. I've been waiting for the Pixel 4a. Would be fine with the OnePlus Nord. But this is available (more or less) now at a nice price and beats them both on specs. Still, I won't buy a phone that I can't use for at least 4 years. I'm on a 2016 ZTE Axon 7, which still works pretty well under LOS 15.1. I don't care if Motorola doesn't support it for the long haul, but if it gets no 3rd party love, I'm out... By the way, the Axon 10 Pro is a great deal at B&H these days. But again, even though there's an unsupported LOS ROM for it, I fear it'll never reach critical mass...

The Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro is in the same class but has a faster CPU (865 vs 765G). The catch is that, since it's not officially sold in the US, it lacks a warranty and some LTE bands like 66 and 71. I don't know whether Squaretrade or the like would cover it. Never mind, it seems the F2 doesn't support any US 5G bands.
Also, Best Buy is taking orders for the Edge.
I cannot wait anymore
I cancelled the order and went to BH to buy in person
