Where to buy Xiaomi Mi8 for the best price? - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hello XDA Users!
Can You please tell me:
Where to buy Xiaomi Mi8?
I've heard that the lowest price I would get on Aliexpress but I never bought anything from that site.
Is is a good idea? What to look out for?
Buy only from MI official sellers? How about tax and other things when shipping to EU?

I don't know much about the taxes charged in the EU, but I purchased a white 6/64gb mi 8 from Joybuy for 361$ including shipping which im pretty sure is the lowest you'll find right now. They accept paypal so that adds a little bit of peace of mind.

I bought my SE on Honorbuy since it was the lowest price I could find that provided EU shipping. You only pay for the phone and there's no tax bs.
https://www.honorbuy.com/237-xiaomi-mi-8
You can get a Mi 8 there for 410 € in total ( including DHL shipping which means the phone should come to you within 3 days ) .
But if anyone knows of a better choice for EU residents, please do mention it.

Yeah, on THIS SELLER
it would cost 450 USD which translates into 390 Euros. That's with the DHL Shipping ( which you must select if you don't want to be assf%cked by customs and tax ) . This is the cheapest as far as I can see.

I've heard a rumor that it's good to have./buy an (extra) insurance (?) as that would prevent customs and tax and choose shipment from China to UK and than from UK to other EU country (that way we avoid paying Value Added Tax cause its a internal EUnion trade).
I ask again as I'm a complete Aliexpress noob - what are the basic things that I should avoid when buying stuff there? I don't want to loose a big amount of money by making some well known by Aliexpres users cardinal mistake.

Read the description of the product ( they often tell you which shipping method to pick to avoid customs ), check the feedback and see how many orders the product has ( sellers should be more experienced if they processed more orders and if the feedback to the product and the seller are great ) .
Sellers are nowadays pretty great, it's the buyers who are mostly idiots who don't bother to read what the seller wrote and fail to choose properly/fail to give proper shipping info and then say things like " Hur hur, Aliexpress sucks, it's a scam".
I order pretty much everything I can from Aliexpress (mechanical keyboards, cases, mice, headphones, etc. ) and even when the product didn't arrive ( one time ), I got a refund.
I can't guarantee that every seller is perfect but you can always send the message to the seller and ask them in PROPER AND EASY TO READ ENGLISH ( they're Chinese, don't write complex essays and expect 100% of it being understood ) and they will give you all the info you need.
It's in their interest to sell and to have a customer which will post positive feedback.
I know I sound patronizing but buyers on Aliexpress are most often retarded and blame the sellers for it.
I'm honestly more hesitant when it comes to ordering from eBay than from Aliexpress.

Because a lot of good deals say " the seller doesn't ship to your country" , meaning I have to contact the seller and wait a ton for them to reply if they even ship to Croatia ( which is in EU but I still have to ask for some reason ) , let alone to know if the shipping isn't too high ( it's interesting how you have to pay more for shipping within the EU than from China to EU but whatever ).
On Aliexpress you have all the info in front of you and you can choose various shipping methods. Everything is automated in places where it should be.

Trying to sell one of my Wizards on ebay, arghhhh

I have 2, one of which is brand new, I've put it up on ebay 3 times now, and each time some idiot or another with a fake account tries to buy it, and I have to relist the god damn thing.
Anybody know of anywhere else I can try to sell it?
Cheers in advance.
I have had attmepted scams as well. Choose Paypal only, and also find the thing which makes the Paypal buyer have a validated account. Also I put in very large font at the end of an auction description that I won't post to Nigeria and No Scammers. Only set postage to UK/EU as well to limit scammers.
HiH
Joe
E-bay is total pants !
Just had the sme trouble with my Exec , gave up in the end
also had trouble when I sold my 9500 , I had some idiot mail saying he wanted to pay by paypal and then collect in person over the next hour - "great !" I thought , but unfortunately I had missed his mail by a few hours
Then the following day I get a mail from the same guy (he TOLD me he was the same guy !) but using a different ID , saying he still wanted to pay by paypal and collect within an hour ,
I smelt a rat and looked up the old ID , Sure enough , he had made several large (£300 +) paypal purchase , all pretty local the previous day and was now "no longer a registered user" - He had obviously got a stolen Paypal account
Anyway ....... I contacted Ebay to alert them (thinking i was helping them out !) I received a reply telling me I had got it all wrong , and there was nothing to link the two accounts :? - fair enough , no skin off my nose !
Needless to say , when I looked a few days later , the second ID had been revoked , but not before he had racked up about £3,000 in paypal purchases !
I learned a valuable lesson that day
EBAY DO NOT GIVE A TOSS ABOUT FRAUD , UNLESS THEIR FEES ARE AT RISK !
Makes me sick to see all the idiots out there selling photo's of xboxes etc with "please note this auction is for a photo" in small print hidden among the spec
Ebay sucks
:x
same for me
I had once an issue with a guy from Hong Kong who did not ship. I tried to mail him 5 times, no reply. Then he wrote that he "sent another unit today". I waited a month, tried again, no comment.
I ended up leaving him a negative feedback. Guess what? he left one for me as well "do not sell anything to this guy..." I tried to talk to ebay and sent them the entire emails history. They were not willing to delete his feedback. ebay does not really protect you.
only remember one rule on ebay..
always deal with person who uses paypal & have feedbacks over 50.
FWIW, that's how I ended up getting my BA and smartphone. I bid on each item and ended up losing the auction in the end but since the seller had "USA Only" and / or I have good feedback while another bidder didn't or had none, the high bidders were thrown out and I was offered the chance to "buy it now". Which is what I did in both cases and in both cases the seller and myself were both pretty happy with the results. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you explicitly say "UK / Eur ONLY" (maybe USA, we're not all a-holes over here ), PayPal only and no bidders with less than X feedback or less than 100% good feedback, then you have every right to blow off the scum. Ebay isn't bad, you just have to make sure you spell everything out and apply a little common sense. You could also try to sell it here or on modaco.com and specify paypal only, it's not just limited to ebay.
I don't think eBay is that bad- as long as you clearly specify selling/buyer requirements.
I sold one of my 'free upgrade' MDA Compacts in a 5 day listing the first time.
Do keep an eye out on the feedback, location, etc of all bidders on your item. If in doubt, just remove their bid.
I've sold other more expensive things too- electrical goods, alloy wheels, etc all without problem.
Things like insisting on some kind of deposit as soon as the auction had ended would safe guard you somewhat too.
ebay!!
I just want to add this to advice when you sell anything on ebay in order to avoid trouble ,use buy it now & paypal ,what you do is when you in steps of listing there is a box wich if ticked <immediate payment reqiured> ,you only sell your goods to the once ho pay you immediately so they don't win the auction till they pay you trough paypal and you receive the money
these scammers are called nigeria connection...it is a very big problem... try to exclude bidders from countrys except your country... for germany this works, i never had problems with them again
Sorry about those Nigerian scammers....
BUT I ASSURE YOU THERE ARE MANY NIGERIANS WHO ARE INDEED VERY STRAIGHT. I'AM ONE. BUT TRULY WHEN YOU DEAL WITH "NIGERIANS" DO BE CAREFUL!!!
Probably best not to stereotype...

This upto a point works but no matter what country they come from they are now seemingly able to register with UK accounts so it's not always easy to block buyers from other countries.
Ebay is great!
Well I would just like to add that I am an experienced ebayer having been involved with over 200 transactions and in all that time, only one ended up being from a dodgy buyer!
Some good advice has already been given here so take heed! Selecting immediate payment for Paypal is the best & smartest solution.
Saying that I agree that ebay have a bad history with their customer service relationship, they are not that bothered as they are making millions every day!
I bought my O2 mini S on Ebay. Got a great deal ($520) and great service from a UK seller who got it in my hands in a week. Prior to that, however, I did have a couple of bad experiences including one where the K-Jam seller added new bidder requirements a day before the auction closed and cancelled my leading bid. It sold the next to a "mystery buyer" with a new account for the same price I had bid. He clearly had bid on his own product because he did not like the way the auction was proceeding. I think I got him reprimanded but it took a dozen frustrating emails to customer service to get them to acknowledge that what he did was a flagrant violation of the rules.

EBAY SCAMMER - ID: michele9198 - SCUMBAG!

Hi guys, just wanted to make everybody aware that there is a scammer on Ebay selling QTEK branded phones.
I tried to purchase a QTEK 9100 on ebay about 3 weeks ago and ended the sale with "Buy It Now" and made an instant payment with Papal. Haven't received any goods so I have had to file a claim with Paypal as he doesnt respond to messages. His ID is michele9198 so beware if this seller. Stung me for £225.
Spread the word guys
Regards.
have you reported it to ebay and paypal?
Loads of them about...
@mav... Sorry to hear about that...
Guys there are plenty of these scammers about, just do a search on ebay for an Eten G500...
You'll find a number of them available from users in China & Ireland at great prices, and all the sellers have 10+ positive feedback... and they are all SCAMS!!!!
The best way to check if these are legit is to actually check the Items they have received feedback for... click on their Feedback Score, Click on an Item ID and you'll generally find that there is no real item there, just a load of gobbledigook and many of the users that left the feedback are 'No Longer Active'...
In short, be very careful (read: paranoid) when using ebay, and even more so when buying underpriced 'too good to be true' gadgetry...
Re: Loads of them about...
in some CHinese EBAY shops or some small shops often they sell things which are not 100% legal cause they havent passed QC check in the factory (that s the reason of the super prices) of course usually those PPC are fixed up but it can happen like my case some small things...My qtek is QWERTZ and not QWERTY keyboard and it came with english sys so there was the problem of Y and Z fixed by reg hacking.... some of them had touch screen messed up but I have fixed for 200 CNY something like 20USD....so in some cases those PPC are really for sale but dnt expect them to be perfect!
just to let you know
I like to buy from them cause i can get a better price and it need maybe a little work to fix em uo

Where to get the 4-1 Cable other than Expansys

I live in Singapore and would like to buy the 4-1 cable for my new Dopod U1000. I looked at the Expansys page and discovered that it costs UKP13.x and the international shipment costs UKP22.x ... I really don't want to pay UKP22.x shipment for something that costs less... I am assuming HTC makes this cable as well in Taiwan. Can it be sourced there? I happen to be flying to Taipei on Monday for business. Thanks for your help.
MobilePlanet in US also carries it but its even worse :
Cable costs US$ 23.95
Shipping costs US$ 79.95
Please an Asian source???

Only international shipping option on these sites are 3-4 day DHL etc and hence the price. Given all this hardware is made somewhere in Asia I can't believe there is no where I can source this item...
wu5262, with your close links to HTC, can you confirm whether this cable is made by them in Taiwan or OEM'med somewhere out of mainland China etc?
Thanks & Best Regards

June 17 Update :
Ok I've got some refunds and I'm not willing to continue this project , sorry guys to risky for me ...
What if those people will decide to ask for refund after I'll make a payment of $7k to the supplier ?
For those who advertise on eBay - We sell for $3 less PLUS it come from UK ( and someone on this forum offered his services to help me in USA for local distribution ) however it doesn't matter - The project is over .
Thank you very much for all of you who supported and I guess people are still not open minded enough to make a real revolution .. and unfortunately I can't take the risk here ...
I'll refund all the payments in the next 24 hours ..

June 14 Update :
We've made it !!!
Here's the website - WWW.SPLIKO.COM
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi ,
I'm not sure if $40 is expensive or not for you but for me it doesn't even make sense to pay 30 or 40 bucks for 10cm of 9H glass ...
Someone on this forum (open1your1eyes0 ) made a great thread about the curved protectors and I saw there a link to Alibaba .
I've contacted them on Alibaba and it cost about $6.5 and shipping is something like $150 with DHL to UK (for 200 pcs) ...
I'm 100% sure there are 200 people here that would pay about $7 per unit ( include shipping )
Now I don't have a problem to arrange it and NO I'm not going to make $1 profit out of it ( I don't care to help XDA admin to make it by their own )
just pisses me off that we need to $40 for this small piece of glass !! It cost like a window for my bedroom - Those brands are ripping us off !!! And it's about time to put an end to this bull**** !!!
Hope someone here will agree with me ..
BTW : On Alibaba it's 100% same as the Amzer or Olixar ... ( those brands just do what I suggest here and print their logo , oh and also charge extra $30 for this )
if this go forward i do want IN even if its around 10£
Well we can arrange the money using paypal .. the only issue I can think about is how to ship it to 200 people after it arrives here ..
But I guess such small product can be shipped worldwide for about $3-4 (no tracking )
If XDA will be able to arrange some kind of group buy it would be great ( as I'm not sure people would trust each other here with the money )
Hope to hear your opinions and possible solutions how we can make it happen and start having fun with Alibaba ...
Im in.
If this is possible i would love to join in. I live in India, but ive relatives in UK that can pick it up for me
I love in the United states and willing to do this
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using XDA Free mobile app
put in me in for 5 in the uk!
I have no problem with someone making $1 profit per piece, still saving us lots and gives someone an incentive to do it!
Someone on xda did a very similar thing with htc one m7 glass, when glass screen protectors where pretty new. He brought a load of shipped them to xda members,
still have that piece of glass on the phone over 12 months later.
definitely interested myself. Will keep watch.
Sign me up. Do we know if these though from Alibaba actually do their job? I am willing to take the risk for 10 quid though no problems.
interesting
Will it be possible to ship it from UK to Cyprus? Of course i will pay the shipping cost, usually need 3-4pounds. If this is possible count me in for 4
glad to hear you are interested ,
1.Tomorrow I'll check exact cost for shipping 200 pcs ( also i'll try to see if we can order only 100 )
2.will check average shipping cost worldwide ( include package cost ) to India , USA , etc'...
3.I have a friend in customs , I'll have to confirm there are no additional fees
4.will always keep everything transparent here in this thread and we'll make it some kind of social project ...
Really hope it will work and we'll be able to make revolution in this ridiculous prices and who knows maybe in the future we will do it for purchasing Galaxy S8 in wholesale
I'm in! Might want to buy 2 for myself.
Canada reporting in.
I'm in too. Want 2 peice for my babe because she naked now lol

purchase asus rog 2 phone

where can i purchase online the phone china version no problem.
Yeah, couldn't find it on aliexpress.
Giztop.com has it listed
You will need to wait 3 weeks or 1 month or even more. The stock is limited they are currently locally selling the phones in batches every 4-7days and every time it's sold out.
Is Giztop even legit? I feel the list thing as in stock but ship it 1 month later. Also it's at an inflated cost right now being $100 more, I would wait a month
I've bought a phone from them before and purchased this from them. I'll see when it ships and arrives.
It looks like Alibaba is selling them. https://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=asus+rog+phone+2

Hi,
I received it at my door 4 days after them getting the first stock (they use DHL Express). Usually full processing, shipping and getting through customs takes max 5 days.
I did of course get to pay customs tax, around 28 EUR (+-30 USD), I live in Barcelona.
It arrived in perfect condition and included a simple charging adapter.

Liaow is $200 more than original price. it is quiet expensive without including shipment cost and customs.
giztop probably buys from JD and marks it up by $100
Even if you live overseas, you can purchase this mobile phone at the Chinese version of jingdong.com official store.
liaow wants $1150 shipped for the RoG Phone 2
I hope prices go down eventually. I am content with my OP7 Pro but would like something with better battery and no curved edges.
Something tells me it won't go down, blah.

is it reliable? the only chinese I buy from is Aliexpress, and sometimes the vendors are mean/tricky. i found this one:
https://item.jd.com/100006808184.html
But i m relying on google translate to understand the page... I m a bit worried about risk of not being able to communicate with the seller or so if anything happens... and there is no shipping cost?
Also i was reading the comments on the phone on JD and soo many complaints about defects in screens. it seems they are suffering from quality check ?
which makes me worried as Asus won't support tencent out of China...
And I tried to create an account and it requests to use phone number. I added my phone number but not receiving sms with the code. I guess they have the international code to my country wrong.
Thank you
