purchase asus rog 2 phone - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

where can i purchase online the phone china version no problem.

Yeah, couldn't find it on aliexpress.

Giztop.com has it listed

You will need to wait 3 weeks or 1 month or even more. The stock is limited they are currently locally selling the phones in batches every 4-7days and every time it's sold out.

Is Giztop even legit? I feel the list thing as in stock but ship it 1 month later. Also it's at an inflated cost right now being $100 more, I would wait a month

I've bought a phone from them before and purchased this from them. I'll see when it ships and arrives.

It looks like Alibaba is selling them. https://www.alibaba.com/trade/search?fsb=y&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=&SearchText=asus+rog+phone+2

trusted website.I bought my phone from that website

Liaow is a trusted seller, I can confirm.
they're usual more expensive, but very thrustworthy and good communication..
I've bought my last 3 phones from that shop, including my current ROG 2.

Hi,
I received it at my door 4 days after them getting the first stock (they use DHL Express). Usually full processing, shipping and getting through customs takes max 5 days.
I did of course get to pay customs tax, around 28 EUR (+-30 USD), I live in Barcelona.
It arrived in perfect condition and included a simple charging adapter.

ok thanks for your info, i live in Czech Republic so it will be similar

Liaow is $200 more than original price. it is quiet expensive without including shipment cost and customs.

giztop probably buys from JD and marks it up by $100

Even if you live overseas, you can purchase this mobile phone at the Chinese version of jingdong.com official store.

liaow wants $1150 shipped for the RoG Phone 2
I hope prices go down eventually. I am content with my OP7 Pro but would like something with better battery and no curved edges.
Something tells me it won't go down, blah.

is it reliable? the only chinese I buy from is Aliexpress, and sometimes the vendors are mean/tricky. i found this one:
https://item.jd.com/100006808184.html
But i m relying on google translate to understand the page... I m a bit worried about risk of not being able to communicate with the seller or so if anything happens... and there is no shipping cost?
Also i was reading the comments on the phone on JD and soo many complaints about defects in screens. it seems they are suffering from quality check ?
which makes me worried as Asus won't support tencent out of China...
And I tried to create an account and it requests to use phone number. I added my phone number but not receiving sms with the code. I guess they have the international code to my country wrong.
Thank you

US AT&T use; Where did U Buy? Any Warranty? Difference in UPDATES from diff regions?
I notices there are two different re-sellers on Amazon.com. One advertises "US Warranty" but I found out it is only 90 days. I assume these come from two different regions.
Simplyelectronics has the best price. They ship from Hong Kong (I think). So I assume this device is for China region? They also say one year warranty, shipped back to Hong Kong.
My questions are:
Best place to purchase with warranty? Where did U purchase; does it have and warranty at all?
Any difference when getting firmware updates depending on where it was made for?
Better to buy one for Germany, Poland, China, etc?
Will AT&T device, when it ships, have remarkably more features?

I bought mine at Handtec in UK. I got the Note the next day. They do honor Samsung's 24 month warranty (you need to send the unit to them and they deal with the warranty). You can ask them directly. Very good customer service.
Not too sure about warranty for mine, but I bought mine off of one of the Amazon re-sellers. Mine came from Germany and had the most current (KK9/KK5/2.3.6) build. No issues with it whatsoever. Flawless screen. No threatening letters, texts, or emails from AT&T thinking it's a tablet and such. Just a great device!

at least from my understanding, it's similar to Korean version, replacing exynos with snapdragon for 4G LTE capability...but functionality-wise I doubt it just as how SII didn't have feature differences other than a modified hardware design.
Best option is to buy from ebay or amazon (depending on the price) and buy a 2-year warranty from squaretrade for about $70.

I bought one off of eBay and the SquareTrade warranty was $120 for 2 years $80 for 1.
http://www.safeware.com/
This is what they told me:
Thank you for contacting Safeware. To insure your smartphone for one year the annual premium is $98.00 , in States there is a policy fee of 10% or $10.00 which ever is the least amount. Our policy covers against accidental damages, liquid spills and theft. If you decide you would like to purchase a policy I will need the date of purchase, the serial number, the amount you paid for the phone and your credit card information. You do not need to send a receipt of purchase at this time but if you have a claim you will need to fax the receipt at that time. If you want to purchase the policy over the phone below is my contact information.
They also have a two year for 78 but it doesn't include theft
Bought mine from Amazon from reseller TRD-Trading GmbH (Global Mobiles) No idea if they will honor the warranty or not. I hope so. Any one else buy from them and know? You should probably make that the 28th, I ordered it on the 21st and was supposed to get it today (in the UK) but the courier says Amazon.de hasn't even sent it to them.
Bought mine from Expansys USA and got my insurance from Ensquared. Called them up before I did anything and they said they covered it no problem as long as I kept the receipt.
Not sure about updates because the second I got my note, i rooted and put custom roms on it.

Thanks, I actually didn't purchase the warranty, but that promo code makes it a little more palatable; the warranty for two years came out to be $99.20. This does not include accidental damage, just manufacturer defects and normal "wear and tear" whatever that means.
Still not totally sure if that is worth it; I'd prefer something with accidental damage/water dmg/theft etc.

Any idea if they will cover a "Like New" eBay purchase?
Sorry, to replay to my own post, but I had a chat with an Ensquared advisor and here's the conversation:
ensquared: Hi, how may I help you today?
you: Hi I just made a purchase on eBay for a "Like New" android smartphone
you: I was wondering if ensquared covered such items?
ensquared: Unfortunately, we can only cover brand new phones that are within 90 days from the time they were purchased.
I ordered mine from Amazon from TechkingUSA LLC, it was on my prime account and was fulfilled by Amazon, so I'm not sure who I really got it from of the two, be for I ordered I email and received a response that the warranty length was the original manufactures warranty. hope I never have to use it but as far as I know Amazon is backing it so it should be good.6

I work for O2 UK as Technical Support and I can confirm it is available on both Contract and Pay as you Go. Pay as you go price is £336 (Official One Plus UK Website price is £329 as I ordered mine couple of weeks ago). The phone will be unlocked out of the box. We have live demonstration devices in stores also.
Contact Prices start from £28 per month.
This is the best phone I have ever come across as me being around phones and fixing them for the past 2.5 years and owning the latest phablets, that is quite an achievement.
This is an exclusive partnership between One Plus and O2 UK meaning you can't get it on any other network/carrier/shop in the UK unless you buy it from the official One Plus Website and wait for it to be delivered.

Great to hear djsynth. :highfive:
If I buy from o2 and the handset develops a fault after 30 days, am I having to deal with One Plus in China to get it sorted?
I've had a play with a few now in o2 shops and the speed is very impressive. I think this will be my next phone as the Pixel phones will be overpriced. :crying:

No, under UK law your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer, so as far as defects go its up to 02 to fix. If you break it ie drop it and smash the screen that however is a different matter.

Typical trick from retailers, is to try and defer complaints to manufacturers, but the law says the retailer is responsible for supplying you with goods of merchantable quality.
Also worth bearing in mind, this covers the device for defects within a reasonable period (or some such wording), so a phone supplied on a two year contract should be expected to be free from defects for at least the contract period, and most issues for longer than that.
One Plus Three just ordered. :victory:
Thanks guys for answering my questions. :highfive:
I'm not paying those crazy prices for the Pixel phones. What is Google thinking of. :silly:

Buying T813

Been waiting for the s3 to come out but the price is in my view too steep (£599) so my plan was to get the T813 but it seems impossible to buy it in the UK except via Amazon. However i am reluctant to buy something this expensive from a 3rd party reseller there. Has anyone seen it sold by some more reputable seller?

I got mine Open Box on eBay for $50 less than the going rate at the time, however I saw no signs of it ever having been touched. Original factory seals were in place and it came with a 1 year parts and labor warranty, and a 60 day full refund policy both from the seller. It is now available from them for $319.99. I have had it for about four months and have never been happier with a tablet.
They shipped it immediately (free shipping) and I had it four days from the purchase date. If you are interested shoot me a PM and I will send you the info.

My main concerns about buying something like this from someone on ebay/amazing marketplace is that I'll be hung and dry if it is a problem with it.

Note 9 N9600 or N960FD etc for UK use

Hi everyone,
I'm due to upgrade my phone and really keen on the note 9 but to buy in the UK it is costly. I'm looking at buying from the EU but there's a variety of model types with subtle differences in bands.
Please would someone be able to advise me whether for example N9600 or N960FD would be fully compatible with the UK networks?
The N9600 appears to be fully compatible with UK bands but I'm new to buying non UK phones.
Plus if they're both compatible, would one be better than the other?
Thanks in advance

Hey, I got the N960F/DS off Ebay for £719, think it is even cheaper now, got it from Switzerland, ordered last Wednesday night about 22:00 and it arrived Monday morning. I will get the link for you now

Have a look on www1.techinthebasket.com - I picked up my previous Note 8 SM-N950F/DS for £633 back in October last year. It was a Taiwan model (BRI) but picked up XEU / BTU CSC when I put my O2 SIM in it and it worked flawlessly. They have Note 9's in now for good prices as well. They only accept PayPal so you're covered. I also picked up a Surface Pro 4 from them a couple of years ago and saved over £200. Well worth a try.

Ah, looks like they've only got the Snapdragon version in at the moment - £880 for the SD 512GB/8GB and £629 to £679 dependant on colour for the SD 128GB/6GB is still pretty damn good. Keep checking though, they did have the Exynos versions in for around the same price a few days ago...
Really good prices.
The only thing that's holding me back is to wait for the pixel 3xl. If some of the rumours are true about the Iarge screen, then I might go pixel, but other say it's only 6.1" and has a notch which renders it even smaller when watching film properly.
Thanks for the input so far. Note 9 is in number one spot, just need to compare to the pixel to firm up the choice
The N9600 probably won't work with some UK Cell Providers. You are better off getting the N960FD as that is a GSM device.

Nice find!
After reading the listing it doesn’t state anything about It having a year warranty with them instead they’ll only replace if the device is faulty within the first 30 days.... risky?!! ? .... Just checked again it doesn’t come with any warranty.... ?
Plus if you use the CODE: PERKS on eBay you get a further £50 off... Very tempting stuff
If the pixel 3xl is a bit underwhelming, I'd rather buy a note 9 with a warranty even if it costs more. Having had LG phone issues, I don't want the risk

Oh well haha, has anyone in the world ever actually needed a warranty? I certainly haven't ? It's like insurance, even if you try to claim on it, the odds of them paying out to you are so slim it's hardly worth bothering. It's also another price you pay for getting something significantly cheaper than in your own country, right now they're selling that phone over £200 cheaper than anywhere in this country, if you're so worried, take that 200 and buy insurance, or open a premium bank account for like £11 a month that offers you full mobile phone insurance like my girlfriend has, she can essentially just launch her phone at the wall and they'll pay out for a replacement ?

It's also another price you pay for getting something significantly cheaper than in your own country, right now they're selling that phone over £200 cheaper than anywhere in this country, if you're so worried, take that 200 and buy insurance, or open a premium bank account for like £11 a month that offers you full mobile phone insurance like my girlfriend has, she can essentially just launch her phone at the wall and they'll pay out for a replacement

Believe it or not i had an issue with my S8 plus (Snapdragon 835 variant) a year ago (screen issue) used it for about 8 months, it took about a month to resolve but ended up getting a refund instead lol
I know what your saying, looks like I'll just go with WondaMobile instead of eBay, that way my mind will be at ease
Btw hows your battery life on your model? I'm still undecided whether to go with the SD 845 or Exynos 9810.. I had the S9 plus with the 9810 and the battery life wasn't great (3.5hr SOT) with 15-16hrs usage consistently, ended up selling it to my bro ?

Price in EU (<€1200 now).

It's now sub 1200 Euros in Germany, if you look around a bit. Nearing 1100 in a few places.
Price has cratered harder and faster than any phone in living memory.
Samsung must be pumping these out of the factory pretty quickly, and not intending for new models to take as long as Fold 1 to Fold 2.
I can see this going below 1000 around Black Friday, and definitely by the New Year. If it's not already replaced by the end of Q1 '21, I'd imagine the phone might see significant development and community involvement, below 1k.
You're insane.

Really, care to explain why? Lowest retail price has dropped over 700 Euros in less than 2 months.
Samsung are well known for front-loading pricing, and quickly tapering it to distributors and wholesalers, but it's never been quite like this. The device is clearly intended to sell in volume, and not be the flagship for anything like as long as the Fold 1.
Re: development, plenty of 800-1200 Euro devices see lots of development.

Some links as evidence of brand new / unused prices as per your post?
The €1200 price you mention is a scam. No one is getting the phone for that price.

In the next two days I am going to buy a brand new in box Z Fold2 for €1.000 or less in Germany.
Not from a shop (several are offering them for €1.150 already) granted, but in Germany a lot of Z Fold2 have been included in a subscription renewal package where people just keep their current phone and monetize the Z Fold2.
I see the prices going down almost daily. It's a simple matter of supply and demand.
Check out https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/
The same thing happened with previous Samsung flagships.
LG devices also depreciate very quickly, but that is because noboby wants them and LG has to lower the RRP to sell them.

I know it's probably a foreign concept, but supply chains and retail channels are relatively competitive in Europe .. particularly Germany.
Probably seems unreal to you when informal price fixing in a hugely non-competitive market rules in the US ... and you just got a Verizon Fold 2 for $$$$$$$$$$, with no hope of waiting for discounts.
Why do you think anyone with a clue in the US buys from European retailers? Price including tax in Europe (which you don't pay) is usually much cheaper than price excluding tax at US retailers, save for Apple. That's what no competition does.
And now you're mad and refuse to believe anything.

Those are pretty much all either used or branded / locked to a network.
Show me a link to a commercial seller who sells sim free new sealed box Fold2 including full 2 year official Samsung warranty ... if you can't then just delete this thread
Not true, as I have explained most of them are new in wrapped box with full Samsung European warranty.
And as far as I know no German provider sells these branded and/or SIMlocked.

Lol.
Are you really not able to use price comparison sites or enter search terms and use filters on Ebay?
Rhetorical question. Evidently not.

I don't think any contract phones have been branded / locked for 5-6 years in DE ... and he appears to be implying these are secondhand contract phones. I'm not even sure heavily subsidised pay as you go phones are branded anymore.
Lowest retail price for sealed NIB Fold 2 in DE is 1149.99 today. It has been lower. Trend is still downwards quickly though.
I bought one of these z fold 2 of Germany.
1215€ and came sealed... I activated Samsung care+
I dont know the reason of the low prize of those phones, but are real and legal.

I bought this Fold 2 for one month ago too in Germany ebay kleinanzeigen 1350 Euro) . some people buy buissness phone cards with a fold 2 and they sell the fold 2 and use the phone card.
Now it is sometimes a little bit cheaper but ok .... I use it for over a month now and I love this phone ! So great stuff Samsung did here ...
You can buy these used for around $1400 US off of Ebay (which is around 1250 Euro, which is what I see it for on the German eBay site). Hoping for a slight bit more of a price drop from Black Friday, but I noticed that Samsung is still selling it for its original price, and they've dropped the price of trade ins by around $200.
I don't know why anyone would have paid full price in the US as it was on sale the opening day at every possible outlet and you would have had to literally give them more money than they were asking for the device in order to pay MSRP; I paid 1600 directly from Samsung's site on pre-order for the unlocked variant and others did better. Day one the latest greatest is always going to be more expensive than it will be just a short time later; you all know that, I'm not telling you something you didn't know. You do need to put it on a level playing field though, you can't compare the MSRP here to the actual price somewhere else at a different time, you have to compare actual price at the same specific time in order to get a valid comparison.

I'm looking to buy it again, and I'm not seeing all these great deals. Samsung's site is $1999, unless you trade in a device. The deals on eBay are ok for a used device, but not great. Amazon has some refurbs for $300 off, which is ok, but again, it's a refurb, to which they only promise that you won't notice a problem "holding it at arm's length". I haven't seen any sign of a new unit coming down in price from $2k.

Be very wary of purchasing a phone tied to a network contract.
These phones may get blacklisted a few months down the line if the original owner doesn't pay the bill, or if they have insurance and claim a month or two later that it has been lost or stolen.
... I know this from experience ... you could end up with a 1000 euro "tablet" that cannot use a sim card anywhere in EU

It's good advice, and I am worried about it. I see a number of devices for sale that say they're on a contract. Kind of terrifying that someone decides to switch providers and suddenly my phone is blacklisted.
Starting to hope for a Black Friday sale!
