any of the older odin before v 3.13.1 wont be able to flash a note 8 or a s9. what makes you think that the older builds or even the latest one will work with the note 9? ( which you probably dont even have)
this makes this package useless and bulky.
not to mention its posted in the wrong section i would believe.

I can't really have him install that because his phone won't go past the Galaxy Note 3 screen when he boots. This is what happened... he rooted successfully rooted with kingo and installed safestrap. He made a nandroid backup and installed a rom. The rom was force closing a lot of his apps so he decided to return to his nandroid backup. He first wiped everything and then he was going to restore but his backup wasn't there so he rebooted from there and that was his mistake. He can't enter safestrap anymore and won't get past the Galaxy Note 3 screen. This is all the information I have from his device.

now why the hell its 753 MB ???
Well. The firmwares for my GT-I8190 are around 1GB, so you get of lucky here Official firmwares are always much bigger in size than custom ROMs!
Sent from my " Black Beauty " using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
thank you
by the way
does that size exist in kies update too ??? the 750 mb ??

I also noticed that img files is signed so you may have a locked bootloader, or at least you won't be able to flash anything unsigned thru odin.

He means that when you flash a Custom ROM from XDA it just changes (some) system files, thus the big difference between sizes. The official ROM contains all the things that are needed for your phone to run without problems (not just system files) and its size is much bigger, of course
LOL Look at the time you posted and I posted Isn't that impossible!!
Yes, exactly.
What I meant with the last part was that all IMG files looks like they are signed which means that Odin probably will give a "author fail" if you try to flash anything modified.
Anyone tried to flash an insecure kernel or deodexed system image or something who can confirm this?

Cannot odin TWRP 3.0.2.0 on n910t3 EPJ2

I'm having trouble updating and it keeps failing. Here is a screen shot. Has anyone run into this before?
Got it figured out. Had to enable OEM unlock in developer option

Thanks for the reply but the cable wasn't it. Got it figured out.
I don't have the OEM check box in my developer options and I too have not been able to root my phone anymore using twrp via Odin.
Flashing to ODIN
Hey there @ReallyRick
Welcome to XDA and grats on still rocking this Awesome T-mo Note 4!
We've come a long way since 4.4.4 and there are even 7 and 7.1 images in the wild, exciting times
As far as flashing ODIN, I have had no trouble flashing TWRP 3.0.20 onto my N910T using ODIN3 v3.12.3 on my Windows 10 desktop.
I had recently done a FULL flash of the 2 to 3 GB sized N910TUVU2EPJ2_N910TTMB2EPJ2_N910TUVU2EPJ2_HOME.tar.md5 file earlier this morning, which as we all know, includes Samsung's bull**** recovery mode that overwrites our beautiful TWRP
Here's a screenshot of the successful TWRP install.

My suggestions to you are...
1. Use right-click, Run as Admin on the latest ODIN3.exe you can find.
(I'll attach the one I'm using here in a quick ZIP file.)
2. You MAY have to install Samsung Kies for the USB drivers for your recovery mode Note 4.
3. Use a different cable or USB port on your laptop/desktop.
- Try another PC?
- Failing that, perhaps try downloading VMWare Player and a Windows 7/10 iso and try to do this with a VM?
4. Restart the Recovery Mode in between attempts, it screws up the connection to ODIN and won't go anywhere unless you restart it back to Download mode.
(At least in my experience.)
Feel free to continue trying and NEVER give up!
Le Files
Forgot to attach files, *DOPE*!

Usually, just reset your phone and try again!
Also Odin is weird. Download old and new versions and if one doesn't work try another.
It's very finicky!

Can't Flash Official Firmware

Hello!
I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F) from a third party shop.
I saw that there is no Software Update option.
After 2 days I discovered that it's in a custom rom (may be) called Lamlazy OS.
Then I downloded official firmware from #sammobile
And tried to flash with Odin.
But every time it failed with an error " repartition operation fail"
So will you all please suggest me what I can do now?
Or the flashing procedure ....
Thanks
i doubt that your phone N960F. Go to download mode and in the first line there will be Actual model number of phone.

the problem in the OP isnt caused by a model number mismatch, its because he is trying to flash the PIT. Flash it again without the PIT and it wont experience that issue

Are you flashing the patched AP file in Odin?
You can also try flashing TWRP, then install Magisk in TWRP.
Thank you!! for replying to my issue. This is the Odin config with no device attached to USB, please see attached clip.
Thank you again, i am most appreciative, mark
Uh did you even unlock the bootloader yet because all US Samsung phones have locked bootloaders since the S7
Thank you!! for replying to my question(s). The device i am attempting to root, does not have the OEM unlock option; i have used several threads (instructions and firmware) to make the option available: e.g. change date, etc., and have used the following instruction(s) and firmware flash(s) below:
Rooting a Samsung device using Magisk and Odin. (2023)
NOTE : This guide can work for almost all modern Samsung devices and not just the S7 FE. The device will be erased completely in order to install the root. Risks of rooting : 1. You can brick your phone by doing this. 2. Can void your...
