Smart View: Device to Phone ? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I noticed that the Note 9 has a new option in the Smart View Menu that says "Device to Phone" Im used to using the Phone to device to mirror my phone to different displays but can anyone elaborate on the Device to phone option now? Looks like its just limited to Samsung tv's mirroring to the Note 9? Can a few people try this feature out and see if it works with any other devices maybe. That would be really cool if we could mirror different devices to our phone now and use our phones as a display. Never thought about that as a feature but would be cool if Samsung gives us that option.

I have a T-Mobile Note 9 (just got it today) and it has no SmartView feature anywhere. Very disappointing.

I went to a local shop that had new Samsung QLED TVs. Tested it out with a Q9F. It worked immediately, got a prompt at the TV that a Note 9 want to connect and neede approval. All connection after that did not require approval again. I could see what is on the TV on my Note9 and on the phone I had options like "power" that would retain the movie on Note9 but blank the tv screen. I walked around the shop waching the movie on my Note9. There was a button "source" that I think would let me chose another input attached to the tv like a PS4? Almost like PIP but outside the TV screen. I noticed a small lag that would be irrelevant in movies but annoying on a intense FPS game on PS4. There was a noticeable picture scaling issue I guess because phone and tv have different aspect ratios. Might be fixable. Tried to take a screenshot of it but the screenshot was blacked out because of protected content. Will go back to the shop later and test this feature on other cheaper models. Very excited about this feature. And no one talks about it!

Tmobile Note 9 has Smart view, its in the quick panel

You have to update your phone to the latest update. Go to settings and check for update. It should be "update 22" I believe. Then after updated it will be in your quick settings. Slide down the home screen and then slide down again to open the quick settings. It will have a smart view button. Click on it and it will have the new option for "phone to device" or "device to phone". Hope this helps

No Firefox in Dex Station mode?

Seems Firefox (my preferred browser) does not work in the DeX Station. Pretty weird since it specifically has a tablet mode and works pretty much identical to the desktop version on my Note Pro 12.2.
Anyone know of a workaround?

There are a lot of apk's that can extend to full screen any phone apk. Even in samsung own menu there is developer options under dex setting that alow any apk to run in full screen.
I guess that' your question about...
Search in.play store for dex

No such luck. The setting is Samsung DeX Labs, "Attempt to resize apps that aren't officially supported by Samsung DeX." and Firefox still says it wasn't designed for it.
"Firefox can't run in Samsung Dex. It is designed for phone touch screens." is the text that appears. I personally think they blacklisted it so that people would be forced to use their browser.
Though Chrome does seem to work.
i have the same issue .... dont know whats going on

Enable Developer Mode and it allows all applications automatically.
Go to settings -> Samsung Dex -> About Samsung Dex
Click the Samsung Dex logo 5 times. Launch Firefox!
Enabling "Developer mode" did not work for me--Firefox doesn'e even start. Any other ideas?
TIA,
rabilancia
Going into the Developer mode worked for me. It didn't immediately, I had to take my Note 8 off the dock and put it back on. I wasn't even looking for it to work because I had tried without undocking it . After I redocked my note 8. I had a full screen baby !!!!!!!!!!. Thank You to the fella that suggested that. Hopefully we can work together and get some consensus going on what works for these issues. This Dex has a lot of potential and I want to take full advantage of it.

Solution works for Firefox Nightly on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 9 also. Simply restart DeX by disconnecting it from and then reconnecting it to the external monitor for the dev mode change to take hold. Thanks!
Thank you the for information.
I now have FireFox Beta 68.167 running on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, on the DeX station.
I followed the instructions in the previous posts above then took the phone off the Dex station, on replacing the phone on the Dex station I started up FireFox!
I will post further if there are any issues.

Try rebooting instead.
Same issue, can't open Firefox on DeX - strange though because I did have it working for a while. Now, can't get it to work despite developer mode, reconnecting HDMI, rebooting etc etc many times. Also tried complete factory reset before reinstalling FF & retrying.
Confirming that today, DEX on S9+ with Android 10/Windows 10, Firefox works.
Going into dev mode and activating Dex labs, unplug and replug. Trick is done.
How does Firefox browser work for you? I am running DeX on my Galaxy S10 and Firefox is basically unusable in full screen, as for some reason most websites are shown extremely zoomed in and I can't find a way how to zoom out. As en example, I open google webpage and the search bar spans across the whole width of my TV.
This could be an issue with Firefox not being optimized for use in Dex Mode
Turning on the Dex dev mode worked on my Note9. I restarted Dex and open the latest stable version without issues. Thanks for the tip!!

Doesn't seem to work anymore. Can you guys check/verify/confirm?
I'm on Samsung Note 9 with newest OS version.
Any ideas how to solve this?
UPDATE: To be precise about my status:
* DeX Labs is active, and I can't even deactivate it via Android Developer Mode.
* App Size Adjustment and "Reopen last opened app automatically" settings are active.

Sry guys, all good. I just misinterpreted the post about "Firefox Nightly".
Solution: Firefox Nightly is currently not just about incremental improvements, but it is a whole new browser. Firefox Beta is also working on DeX - thus Firefox "Production Version" will be supporting DeX quite soon, definitely this year.

LG "Comfort View" schedule carrying over to new Galaxy S10

I don't know that I can even intelligibly explain what is happening at this point, so I recorded a video clip and uploaded it to my Google Photos. But, I will try to explain first.
I have been using an LG G6 for about 1.5 years (current OS is Android 8.0.0). On that phone, in Settings > Display > Comfort View, which has a Blue light filter that I have scheduled to come on at 9pm and go off at 7am.
I bought a Galaxy S10 yesterday and started the set up with no SIM. I just connected to my Wi-Fi and signed in using the Google account that I use on my LG. During the set up, it said something about copying over whatever settings it could (Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth, etc.) and it would install the last known installed devices. That all seemed to go fine.
Today, I was going through my new S10 - learning some of it's features and disabling and enabling things based upon YouTube reviews. I went into Settings > Display > Screen mode > and enabled Vivid, but did NOT touch the Cool/Warm slider, or even go into the Advanced settings. As I continued playing with the new phone, at 9pm my screen suddenly went kind of an orange colour, i.e., no blue. This wasn't a complete shock at first because my LG has been doing this for over a year as per my "Comfort View" preferences. However, I then realized that I never explicitly set anything up like this on my S10.
After playing around with the S10's settings, I found that if I set the Screen mode back to Natural, the orange filtering goes away, however, I liked the more saturated look of the Vivid, so I put Vivid back on.
I then went into my date/time settings and changed to a time zone where it was still not 9pm and as soon as I do that, the orange filtering fades away and it is back to normal.
So... where the heck is my S10 getting this scheduled preference from?! I never went in and set and preference of "9pm" to change my screen colour filtering.
Here is a video of it in action: photos . app . goo . gl / 2P9t94WLWqwAmKhA8 - I can't post a direct link as I don't have enough posts under my belt yet
Any ideas?!
Oh my... after more searching, I found a post that it is a setting in Google Play Books that you can only get to when you open a book called "Night Light", that I never turned on. You need to open Google Play Books, then open a book, the tap the upper and lower case 'Aa' which gets you into the settings for while you are reading a book. Thank you, Internet.
Yep. There was a thread as well about this, where myself and another person where having something similar. It was that we decided to restore the settings and the night light setting came over from our previous phone.
Samsung is hidding the default night light setting and replacing with their own without actually removing all the framework code. So you can still enable it with a activity launcher.

Dual Screen Settings and Advanced Tweaking

I've been playing around with some of the settings regarding the Korean Model's Dual Screen. This Thread is just meant to discuss what I've found.
Dual Home Launcher:
The Dual Screen has its own launcher, to which the Dual Screen will always return when the "Home" button is taped on the Dual Screen. There is no option to set a "Default Launcher" for the Dual Screen. Of the standard launcher options preinstalled on the main device, the Dual Home Launcher most closely resembles the "Home & App Drawer" launcher, but is its own environment.
The Dual Screen can load a different launcher as you would load a typical app, but the home button will always take your back to the Dual Home Launcher. A different launcher can be assigned as the "Dual App" (the app that automatically loads whenever the dual screen is turned on) but again, the home button will still take your back to the Dual Home Launcher. Additionally, when a "Dual App" is assigned, they Dual App will automatically be brought to the forefront whenever the device is brought back from "screen off", opened from a closed state, or returned from the 360° opened, second screen off position. Basically, using a Dual App is an annoying option, and it doesn't work to assign a different launcher for the dual screen anyways.
I have discovered that is possible to open the Dual Home Launcher on the main screen. To do it, you need Nova Launcher or Action Launcher on your system, or a similar Launcher that adds an "activities" widget. In the activities widget's apps list, you will find the Dual Home Launcher as as n app, and the primary launcher activity can be used to bring it up on the primary screen. As usual, if you got home on the dual screen, it just moves the application over to that screen.
I'm interested in testing with the disabling of the Dual Home Launcher App, per this method: https://www-xda--developers-com.cdn...ers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/, but I have no idea what it would do. Too bad I can't make a TWRP backup first. I'm also interested in the idea of spoofing the app's name in the system to make the device think that a third party launcher is the Dual Home Launcher and basically set THAT launcher as the default Dual Screen launcher. In particular, I think Lucid Launcher, AIO Launcher, or WX Launcher would be good Default Dual Screen Launchers, per my tastes, but I think having Lawnchair on the Dual Screen next to Nova Prime would probably be a popular setup.
Tasker:
The App Tasker has had zero efforts in it's development for dual screen compatibility, as far as I can tell. Events triggered to bring up apps or things like that will have their action committed on whichever screen is active at the time, basically, whichever screen you've used last.
To demonstrate what I mean, as a test, I've loaded up a simple "torch" app on both screens that has one function, a single tap on the screen will make the screen change from white to Black, or black to White. If you tap the second screen, it changes, then you tap the primary screen, "nothing" happens and it requires a second tap to change the color is the main screen. Then, tap the second screen again, and it takes two taps to cause the app's function. When you are using one screen, your first touch on the other screen doesn't activate anything, just changes the focus of the device to that screen, whereupon you can begin making touch inputs on that screen. The screen that you're on, that you've used last, is your active screen. This is the screen that Tasker will commit actions on, regardless of which environment triggers the event. There is no option in the Tasker Dialogues to choose which screen something will target. I haven't experimented with it much at this time, but I'm certain that this could cause bugs and failed triggers if you have triggers try to target an environment in which an app that would be expected to be forefront is not there. I haven't experimented much yet, but I've been attempting to make contact with the Developers of Tasker, to add a screen targetting plugin, and to add "Secondary Display on", "Secondary Display off", and "Secondary Display Load App" as selectable event triggers. I've been on the Tasker Forums, and someone recommended I explore the methods on here: https://forum.joaoapps.com/index.ph...ings-to-use-in-autotools-secure-settings.210/ to try and find the variables for Secondary Display On/Off at least, and I'm hopeful that there might be a way to shift focus to one screen or the other as part of a series of actions, which would allow an app to be loaded on a specific screen. I'm interested to see what can be done in this regard.
"Island" App:
The App "island" is a very interesting project that is still under development. When you install it, it requests the permissions and then takes you through the setup of a "Work" App Environment, and installs to it another copy of the Google Play Store. Basically, this Play Store is the same as your normal Play Store, and should be linked up to the same Google Account. The App's icon gets a little Briefcase on it to signify that it's a Work app, and you have to set up a second Pin, Knock Code or Password for it (I'm not sure if this can be the same it not. I made mine different). When you load it, it asks for the code, and then opens a normal looking play store, except none of your apps are downloaded yet. Any app that you download with this play store get that same little Briefcase icon, and exist as "Work" apps, which basically lets you install two copies of any app.
Some limitations: any Launchers that you attempt to download within the Work Environment will only include Work Environment Apps within their app drawers. Normal, or "personal" environment Launchers, however, DO show Work Environment Apps next to their regular, "Personal" Environment counterparts. "Work" Launchers do not appear in the "default launcher selection" dialogues. Widget's are funky too. Work Environment Apps that have widgets do not have them become available universally, the way that normal apps do. Work Environment Launchers with widgets, for instance, can only load those widgets within that launcher. Basically, "Work" dual loaded Launchers just aren't a great idea.
Island also adds another APK installer, do you can install any downloaded apk in the work environment. I haven't tested installing an alternative app store in the work environment, but I would imagine that one would still install apps from it into the Work Environment as well. Untested theory though.
Using island, you can load to copies of, say, social media apps, and then have both apps running at the same time, one on one display, the other on the other, whereas, normally trying this would just cause the app to jump over to that screen, rather than dual booting. In most cases, you can log in the same account, or a different account, on the two screens. Be actively watching two different Discord servers on your device, from one single account, for instance, if you'd like.
Island is a little funky in certain regards, as it's still in development, but I've gotta say, it works very well at this point. And it basically makes every app in existence dual screen compatible.
I haven't tried installing a Qslide app in the Work Environment yet. I'm intrigued, now that I'm thinking about it.
Shoot, I've written a serious mini novel here. I guess I'll stick a bookmark in it here for now. I'll keep this Thread up to date on what I've discovered though. I've got a few avenues that I want to explore.
Hi,
That's a fascinating piece, especially as Sky Go in the UK, won't play for me on the V50.
There is a theory that as it's effectively casting to the second screen Sky Go blocks the TV content.
Of course it may just be an Android 9 system issue?
Still working on exactly what's going on.
I have taken the V50 out off the Dual screen case but it makes no difference.
The island app may possibly be another avenue to pursue.
Any advice or comment would be most welcome.
Again a most interesting post.

Can you search 'dual screen' on setting?
Search dual screen in settings
No, but you can find the options relating to the dual screen feature by using a shortcut app to find the hidden options, and create a home screen shortcut if necessary. Idk what you can use em for, but they are buried in the system somewhere.
WHOA, the v50 can have a dual screen? Where can I find it?
I thought only the v60 could.

I have a model I bought off ebag that says its an LG V50, V450VM. I updated it over the air on verizon and the multiple updates went though no problem, the box was all in Chinese for the most part, says made in china and it has the 3 pogo pin connection on the back of the case. Will the second screen work with this model, whatever the hell it really is? It seems to work just fine on Verizon and like I said, it updated flawlessly.

PS : if the dualscreen is not working due to V450VM ROM maybe you can use LG UP do flash a V500N ROM ... hopefully the "bands" are compatible with verizon ... also you may ask on reddit or telegram : https://android.fandom.com/wiki/V50_ThinQ ...
Hi Pierro, so I have my second screen with the pogo pins in it now. It sadly does not seem to work with Verizon, when I snap the phone into it, I get nothing. Perhaps I will try flashing a different software on it as you suggested......
Here's the only reliable way I could find to do it. It's a tiny bit quirky but it works great.
LG Dual Screen Launcher
I have an idea You can try installing some launchers (like Niagara for example) And then set it to launch the app launcher automatically when opening the dual screen. Hope it works for you

Experiences with Android 11 and new One UI?

For those of you who took the plunge and updated to Android 11: could you share your findings about this update?
Are there any hiccups?
How's the battery łife compared to Android 10?
How's the new One UI running for you?
And last but not least: is a downgrade to 10 possible if needed? Or is there a new bootloader to prevent this?
Thank you in advance for sharing your findings!
Could I get the android 11 on a cheap ass Samsung Galaxy A01
I found the update to be stable and not have any of the bugs that folks talked about online. No blurry images with the camera, no weird battery drain, wifi issues, etc... I did however notice that the visible screen does not extend to the top and bottom of the glass. There is an 1/8 of an inch black border of wasted space. Also widgets now have a margin around them and they do not go full width of screen. I did have one app that stopped working, Kin Screen. Otherwise, it's working.
Beyond that, the phone now looks too much like an iphone. i have the swipe bar instead of the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen, the iphone volume control and even notifications and the lock screen scream iphone. I do not like like this and want to go back to android 10. I have taken a look online and am finding instructions regarding downgrading from android 11 beta, but this is not beta, it's an official update that Samsung pulled.
Is there a way to downgrade without deleting my data and apps?

Thanks for sharing, I'll stick to Anrdoid 10
Regarding the downgrade to 10 from 11, maybe this guide can help you. Since the home_csc is used your data should be safe, however I would definitely make a back-up of your important files, pictures, WhatsApp-data/files etc before flashing the Odin-files!
I found that I can reload the android 10 firmware via Samsung smart switch. The only hixkup is that, doing so wipes data. I have backed up the phone using idrive. I'm just concerned that when I reload fro. Idrive it might restore Android 11. I'm not sure what files get backed up. Maybe I will look into oden if I can reload the firmware without touching apps and data.
Thankfully I froze the OTA updater 2 months ago. No Android 11 for me!
Hello,
After moving to one ui 3/android 11 on my galaxy s10 exynos, I'm now unable to change the icon set on poco launcher. It always default to system icons.

there are some small changes/feature removals that I dislike in oneui 3.0
1. mirroring screen with chromcast is not possible natively. You need to install a third party app or google home. However, google home does not allow for screen resolution change, which was possible with the native mirroring feature in oneui 2.0
2. Split-screen seems to behave differently. When you habe two apps in split screen and you swipe up from bottom (home button), the whole split screen setup disappears and you return to your homescreen. In oneui 2.0, it minimized the upper split screen app and return home screen only for the lower app. Maybe this was due to good lock multistar addon, but even with that some addon on oneui 3.0, the behaviour is different, in my opinion worse compared to one ui 2.0.

Question questions about customization

I'm considering getting an S21 5G or S21 Ultra. Is it normal that there isn't much in terms of modding/rooting/etc for Samsung phones? I don't normally go for things like this.
I like the Nexus 5 and have a V30+ right now. I want to be able to control the phone and modify a few things I don't like about the stock experience.
What kind of situation am I looking at here? Is there a safe and reliable root? Or are things extremely locked down like an iPhone?

Well, as you already noticed the modding/rooting community for the S21 series is not that active (yet?), maybe indeed different to phones like the Oneplus 8 Pro etc...
But still there is a reliably working method for rooting the device, although depending from your location warranty may be void afterwards. And then there is Knox, so rooting will definitely disable some specific Samsung functions (Samsung pay & Safe Folder among them).
If you are interested, there are threads on rooting and TWRP - the forum is presently only one for all S21U topics so things move down the line pretty quickly :
I for myself as a long-time "rooter" decided to go with locked stock ROM and while missing some detailed tweakings things are running pretty nicely so far. One of the things I noticed is that 90% of the things you do with rooting are workarounds to cover the negative effects of rooting - like making Gpay work etc.
Yes, unless there's a solution for the Samsung Knox issues, rooting will void your warranty. FWIW, the stock software has so much customization options that even after 2 months of using it I still haven't got hold of all the customizations. Yes, you might do in OnePlus where the software is quite bland/ featureless but that's not the case with One UI

I'm not worried about warranties. I don't know if I'd ever need the samsung specific things like Samsung Pay. Not sure what Safe Folder is but I guess it's some kind of encryption based file storing? I generally don't use all these mainstream things people like.
I don't really spend time making Google Pay work because I have no use for it. I'll have an occasional issue with an app refusing to operate because of rooting and Magisk Hide doesn't work, but it isn't a big deal.
I like tweaking things like the battery logo (I like having a circle with percentage number inside and not having the extra/stock battery logo up there at the same time). I like to disable certain system icons from the top bar that aren't necessary to be there and just clog it up. I like adding the "clear all" type buttons in the running apps page. I like customizing the behavior of holding the power button so I can reboot, reboot to recovery, or shut the phone off easily.
For example, on my LG V30+ right now I am running the stock rom but rooted it and did things like I described above. Nothing major and don't need Google Pay. The LG app for air conditioners won't run because of my root. My bank app notifies me of root very occasionally but isn't a big deal. Yeah, I don't think my SafetyNet passes, but I don't care.
I am using Xposed, hostless AdAway, No Shutter Sound, Highway Radar and YouTube Vanced as well.

I tend to go through every single setting in a phone before I even start really dailying it . I don't mind it. I like customization. That's great to hear. I do like unrestricted or not very restricted phones as opposed to iPhone style lockdown stuff, though.
I used to consider the OnePlus phones but lately I have been more insistent on not buying things made in China or from Chinese companies as much as possible... for various reasons.

So assuming I don't care about things like warranty and Samsung Pay.. what other drawbacks are there? What would stop me from going this route? I intend on picking it up from Google because they have really good deals and I can even make 0% interest payments. I just have to stick with Fi for 3 months, then I can go back to ATT.
Another concern I have is the size of the phone. It makes me lean towards the S21 5G. I just like the Ultra for the other enhancements.
Thanks to all of you as well for the replies.
I wouldn't get that phone if my intent was to root it. One of the more easily rootable Samsung models probably be a better choice*. If you want a blackhole gravity well to get frozen in time with while you're troubleshooting the root then this is a good choice.
That said stock Samsung's are the most customizable phones there are. Hundreds of free icon packs/themes, the Good Lock family of apps and more. The SSC codec for the Buds+ that seamlessly connect to this model with the propiatory Samsung new 360° audio support.
You can lock it down with PD MDM package disabler and Karma Firewall.
*Also no SD card slot so no dual drive ie data drive; you lose a valuble key feature.
Personally I loathe it's rounded corners/display and it's larger frame to display ratio. It's ugly compared to the Note 10+ or N 20 U; I take either of these over the 21 series any day.
Yeah, I really don't like the 21 series... even at half price I would spurn them.
I just read up on Samsung Pay and it's actually pretty interesting. I may actually try and use that. I would love to not have to pull out my wallet all the time and swipe/insert my bank card. That alone is very enticing.
I don't watch TV and haven't had TV service in ages, but I found out with this phone I'll have access to TV stations without a subscription or any kind of fee. That's pretty cool as an added bonus and I may find some shows I like.

That package disabled is really nice to know about, thanks. That is also something I did on my current phone but I did it through ADB (well, I uninstalled things I didn't want and saved the APK of the app).
I'm pretty sure I can use AdAway and YouTube Vanced without root. I'm currently using an older version of Vanced because newer ones do not work. Mine is from Magisk. I figure it has to do with Vanced on this specific phone and I can probably use some other version on the S21/Ultra.
Not sure what you meant about gravity and about a "valuble key feature". I am aware it has no sd card support, but I've found that I have never had the need for this on my current phone which supports up to 2 TB sd cards.
There is one thing that I doubt I'll be able to do which I've done on my V30+... I have the stock phone app modified to have a built-in recording feature. One press and I record calls with no notification beeps or anything stupid like that. After the call ends it prompts me to listen now or later. It saves the recording automatically as a file, based on the settings I've already configured. I can turn this on and off whenever I want during the call and if I turn it on before the call is answered, the app automatically waits until the call is connected to enable call recording. It records both sides in clear quality whether or not it's using the speaker or regular mode.
Is there a shutter sound on the S21? If so, is there a way to disable it without root?

I just come over to the S21 Ultra from Xiaomi. I loved how you could theme the Xiaomi. I tried a few themes from the Samsung store but nothing would change all the icons. A real miss match and it looked terrible. Maybe I never searched hard enough well anyway I downloaded Good Lock and some modules from the Samsung store. It has some good customisations and it changes all icons to the same style and hides icons from status bar. Not sure if this is what your after but I knew when I got this phone there would not be much development on it at the start. Actually not to fussed about rooting at the moment. Also aodNotify as I missed the notification light. Moved away from Chinese phones myself. Here's a couple of pics if this is the sort of thing that your after.
Hope this helps

Congrats on leaving Chinese brands. I'm also making effort to buy things not made in China as much as possible as well. So Taiwan, Japan, USA, etc...
I don't usually do the whole custom icon set thing on phones, but I am aware that's a big thing so I understand why that would be frustrating when you can't find one you like. The most theming I've done is choose one I like (color wise) from some LG app I had on the phone which worked well.
Other small changes may count as theme changes in some ways, but it wasn't the intention.. it was mostly for functionality.
Thanks for the info.
Also I have researched a few things...
1. AdAway. It can now be used without root, which I didn't know. It can be run on S21 variants. BUT, you have to run an AdAway VPN to do it.. so might as well find another method for ad blocking. My friend showed me a screen on the S20 where there is a "private DNS" option. I could block ads that way.
2. Vanced doesn't need root. It actually is arguably better without root because you only have to set the app to open YT links and it doesn't replace the YT app. Right now I can't use auto app updates because it won't let me pick and choose which to not auto-update and one of the ones I would need to stop from auto updating is the stock YT app.
3. From research online and after asking Google about the variant they sell, you can disable shutter sound in the settings (which is actually better than what the LG V30+ supports.. a huge surprise).
4. Don't think I can use Xposed. There MAY be some bootleg way with partial functionality or something but I don't know for sure.
Can I (without root) remove the stock battery icon and replace it with a circle and percentage? Like this:
I also want to enable the seconds counter and add the date.. I want to do all that stuff, if possible.. that I did there.. including hcanging the size of fonts and capitalization of fonts in the top middle area.
Main thing I want is the seconds counter.
A friend showed me this from his s20:
So that's cool that he can change the icons displayed. I used Gravity Box or Xposed.
Not so much I cant find what I like it's just they don't change system wide like Xiaomi did. So I end up having half custom and half stock and looks crap with all the different colors in the folders. At least Good Lock manages to change them system wide which I don't quite understand why Samsung theme store will change maybe fifty percent. Anyway got it to how I like it.
With Good Lock you can remove status bar icons but no customisation with battery indicators. That pic is a pic of Good Lock the one you posted. I went with the Hong Kong version with Snapdragon which you can unlock bootloader in development options. Don't think you can on US Snapdragon versions. Here in OZ we only had the Exynos. Got the 16/512 Snapdragon for $1550 AUD. Same phone with Exynos just over $2200 here.
AdAway have not really missed it. Had it on my previous phone and maybe I'm not taking any notice of adds and just enjoying the phone. Never use Vanced. Cant see any setting in camera to turn off shutter sound but you can silence it in volume controls. Haven't looked into Xposed yet.
Don't know what model your going to get but there is root and TWRP available for ultra models. But soon as you flash a boot image you will trip Knox and lose some features of Samsung apps. Mainly Samsung pay I believe and warranty if you buy local. Still sussing this out myself. Have a old Tab S that I rooted and my first Android was a Samsung Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660)
Overall extremely happy with this phone.
Hoe this helps Sneak
A stock Note 10+, heavily customized.
Running fast and stable on Pie/OneUI.

In 100% me..
You just write that's way am here on xda,
Am a fan to customise my phone as I want,
And if I pay so much money we should have the right, and possibility to choice and use ..
Sorry for my English.
Well, I bought one from Google. If there are serious issues I don't want to put up with I will return it.
As long as I can disable the stock battery icon I would think I could get an app which has a custom battery icon.
I hope it's possible as well to do vertical listing of apps in app screen instead of having the left/right pages.

The scrolling from the right was a pain at first. But all good now. Hopefully Good Lock will bring something out in the future and change it.

If anyone remembers the whole Carrier IQ thing, do you know if there's something like this on the S21 Ultra?
System UI Tuner doesn't seem to work as far as showing seconds in the status bar clock.
I would love to be able to customize the recently used apps section in the apps drawer. Either remove it completely or set static apps or somehow customize a blacklist or whitelist or some other variables to determine what goes there.
When I use jetaudio+ it puts a notification with details in the menu from the top. I can't swipe it away and it stays there even after I close the app and remove it from app list. I found out I have to drag down on it to expand it to be slightly larger and then an "x" appears. These "x" buttons would appear by default on apps like this on my old phone and they were a little larger relative to the rest of the UI as well. Would love to be able to tweak this functionality.
I want a feature I had on my LG V30+ where based on my GPS location I can enable or disable WiFi. Meaning, the same as hitting the wifi icon in the quick toggles based on entering a certain location or leaving that location. That way when I get home my phone will automatically globally turn on wifi and when I leave it twill automatically turn it off so it isn't hunting for networks.
Another feature in the same section was something which allowed me to have the phone remain unlocked when paired with a specific device. I want the phone to stay unlocked when paired with my car instead of having to unlock it all the time with fingerprint.
I would like to be able to scroll the apps list vertically, like normal.. instead of this left and right pages stuff.
I want a battery indicator setup where there is a percentage inside of a circle and the circle is representative of the percentage. Not finding an app option that has what I want. Does anyone know of a way to do this or an app?
I also want to make pressing the home button in the bottom center of the screen do a full open of the bar from the top.
On my current phone I've also found some way to keep the alarm clock icon from Alarm Clock Xtreme without having a persistent notification of the next alarm. Not sure how on this.
MacroDroid!
the answer to toggles based on location. A lot of features there to look into. Very nice.
MacroDroid seems fine for the WiFi toggle but it doesn't keep the phone from locking. At first it was keeping the screen on but then it just did nothing. I want the screen to still shut off if necessary but not require thumbprint or code or anything to unlock, while paired with phone.
