Yellow-ish screen - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

I just noticed that my Mi A2's screen is a bit yellow-ish than any phones that we have (S8, Redmi Note 5), which has blue-ish screen. Is it just my phone or should the Mi A2's screen be more blue-ish? Or is it a factory defect?
Night light is turned off.

I think it is your eyes defect. All screens should have a calibration near 6500k. Blue light damage your eyes.

My friends also noticed that my Mi A2 has warm screen color than his. I just bought the phone and I want to know if this is a factory defect so it can be replaced immediately.

Problem with the viewing angles

Hey everyone,
I bought my Moto X a week ago and just yesterday i found a problem with the display. Whenever i tilt my from to view from the sides the display shows a light green tint. While checking the video reviews for the phone almost everyone told the device had great viewing angles but i think mine has a problem. The issue is fairly visible on a white background which is present everywhere on android. When i try to view the display from extreme angles, a weird mix of green and yellow pops up. This is my first time with amoled display so my question to you is that is this normal or is my display defective?

Quite normal, and is inherent to AMOLED displays. Also if you are using a screen protector, this effect will be even more distinct.

I have a similar problem too, perhaps even worse. Sometimes when i try to view the display from extreme angles all i can see is the back of my phone.
That's a relief. I had called for a replacement unit and was little let down because the whole procedure of replacement would have taken about 20 days. But now i am glad to see that this is not an issue. I have never used an amoled panel before but now after your replys i am satisfied. Thanx guys appreciate it.

I have the Fix.... Pick up the phone, and hold it with the screen facing your face.

Haha. That is indeed the solution. You see the display is fine when i am holding the device up front but as soon as i start titlting to any of the sides, the display goes warm and the intensity keeps increasing with the tilt. Its horrible on the extremes but i can live with it. Cheers.
And why exactly are you looking at the screen at an angle?

Well i use my phone mostly in one hand. Though it requires bit of hand gymnastics but i have become accustomed to it. So tilting the phone say to reach the notification bar on top is evident. Try it yourself and you'll understand what i am saying.
Viewing angles are so overrated...
Do you actually use your phone at 160°?
Never ever I had issues with view angles with my phones, not even when I had a simple v300...

Well yes, when i am lying on my bed using my laptop and the phone is placed close to it.
This thread is not about what the phone displays at extreme angles. Its about the warmth displayed with the slightest of tilt. As i earlier said, almost every reviewer of the phone praised the display when viewed at different angles but i am not that happy about it.
I know, but still...
I do notice that the white does not stay as white when I tilt the phone, but I could not care less... In fact I had to take a look how it looks, I never look at the phone like that... And yes, I use the phone while lying in bed...
I'd assume it's a common amoled thing...
You should check an IPS panel, they are supposed to be better than amoled on this regard...

Already did and IPS' display fairly well. To summarize my querry i would say that this is how an amoled panel works. You either love it or you don't.

What is these Gray Arranged lines in Note 8's Display?

Hi, please see attached picture.
In white screens you can see Light gray lines that Arranged all over Display with regular distance from each other.
What is these Lines?!
I have never noticed something like that before in my device, it is not normal, unless you are using some pixel off app
I'm thinking eye can't see that. Only under microscope

Seems like pixels magnified.... Its a normal occurence to see when you take a photo of any light colored screen, but tough to see with naked eye, But if your eyes are seeing them I m thinking your resokution is set to high or your display is starting to go wonky...
I can't see it in the normal pic so I'm guessing it's just how the OLED appears when your super close up like that
OP, can you see those lines with your eyes, or does it only show up in zoomed photos?

I can see these lines.
I saw it in 3 note 8. Just increase screen brighness to 100% and go to a white screen, so you can see too, But very pale and rare.
I am very Curious to know what is these lines?!

I just put my brightness to max and looked very closely at a white screen, but don't see anything like that on mine. If you can see it with your eye that doesn't seem right. I would probably contact Samsung or the seller.

Is your display resolution actually set to wqhd? Also what is your dpi set to? Font size? Did you just change the display resolution and didn't reboot as yet? Is your device rooted?

Dead pixel all around display and in 3 tested note8?
The picture i attached in post #1 is from a youtube video, so 4 note 8 was tested and these lines existed.

Huh? How exactly can I be more precise with something like this? lol...I simply tested the issue you described and am saying I couldn't reproduce it (brightness at 100%+white screen=no weird grey lines for me...just a white screen!). If stock firmware or a reset doesn't solve it for you then I would probably return to seller or claim warranty. If you tried multiple ones then it may be a bad batch. This forum would be filled with posts if this affected every Note 8.
ok ok if not dead pixels could if be screen burn from lets say the black lines from drawing with the s,pen? (iam just taking guesses)
This problem exist in all note 8s and maybe all S8 s
These lines is very very very pale. Just see with more precision.
I just tried it on mine sm-n950f and I see no grey lines at all. Full brightness with white background picture, perfect display top to bottom.

Again, not true. A few of us already tested and our displays are fine. Hope you get it sorted out. Worst case maybe a bad batch.

Stain/spot on the screen

I have a problem. Today I realize that under the sunlight when the screen is off or with black image it have a blue/purple stain at the bottom of the screen.. I don't know if is it normal or it's a defect.
I had never had a screen amoled and the past days I noticed that on low brightness black colors has purple smearing but people said me that it's normal. So, I don't know if this stain is also normal..
It just happened when stays under the sunlight when it is black or off. When the screen is on or indoor that stain is not noticable
It´s normal. The blue stain is the end of the AMOLED display. I have it too! On all my old smartphones I saw the blue line as a frame around the display.

So it's not a problem like the purple hues when it is broken? (I'm calmer when I read your comment hehe)
Hi. I have the same on my Mi 9T but mine is only a very small dot. Im not sure if it's normal but it doesn't affect the screen colors. Everything is normal on the screen. I hope other people will reply to this.
Same for me on the lower edge. I am using mi 9. It does affect the colors, but only under sunlight. Indoors the line is barely visible, but on a sunny day it is quite pronounced. Not as much as the OPs, though.
So, I don't have this line or anything like this. It's weird for me.
No problem with colors either.
Mi 9 global (6gb/64gb)
Same like me.. but just a small.. size like a type c port connector charger.. how about u right now? Still have dark blue at the bottom?

Still here, now that the summer is gone I don't even see it that often. As I said, uder indoor light, no matter how bright it is, I cannot see it. But as soon as the sun shines a little stronger on the screen, it is barely noticable.
I discovered something similar and it is only visible during bright sun.

[Q] Will turning on RGB for a long period result in issues?

So I really enjoy rgb lightings whenever and wherever they are. As my first android phone was sony xperia sp with 3 great rgb lights.
Now Im worried if I put the light on 24/7 it might get damaged or degrade over time.
Is it like an oled that will lose its red or blue or green overtime if we dont use them evenly?
Right now im on color cycle always on whe the screen is on, but im worried it might fade out or degrate and lose its brightness in long term...
Any ideas on this matter??

Not OP. I'm colour cycle. Not rooted. Is this not an option on tencent version?
All the rear light is a couple of LEDs illuminating a piece of plastic under the glass. LEDs are pretty old and reliable tech at this point in time.
I would have no concern about using the colours unevenly.
Compared to the microscopic size of the OLEDs in the display of our phone, these LEDs are giant and significantly less stressed.
TLDR: Don't worry about it, use which ever colour you like.
You could probably check out a teardown of the device, see what kind of LEDs they are and compare against a datasheet if you were really concerned.

thanks for the info, yeah I already knew about the structure of the lights on the back reflecting on a white plastic
so im gonna use it then, more than ever
ps. I dont really get the rule of life, whenever we get something good we lose something good, as in having shining OLEDs and then getting burn-ins with them...
