Image quality issues - Sony Xperia XZ2 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I am experiencing some nasty image quality issues on my new XZ2. It appears especially on some indoor photos or in low light, when software obviously tries to boost up the brightness on a saved image compared to a viewfinder, so I assume it's a software-related issue and not a damage on the sensor. I do not notice the defect on every picture or in a view finder before taking a photo. Did anyone experience the same problem?

I would be worried about those blurry edges too. That's a lot of noise. :/ Is it suppose to be like that?

Photos are zoomed in, I actually posted the screenshots, but it's true, corner noise and corner softness apparently stays Sony's issue as in the past. But not the camera defect as the dots in my opinion.

[Q] Lens vibration/camera display issues

Dear fellow forum users/Z1 owners,
I'm a new user of a Sony Xperia Z1. I've been using my phone for about a week now to take photos, and I've noticed that there is a problem with the camera display. When I move my phone to take a photo of another subject, the display actually lags behind and sometimes freezes for a second before finally catching up with my movements. Do any of you face similar issues?
Another question I'd like to ask, would be the vibration/movement of the lens as it refocuses, especially on macro shots. It makes this small "tick" sound and vibrates while attempting to focus, something which I've not experienced on other cameras. Is this natural or is it a hardware issue that I should get Sony to check?
Thanks for taking your time to read this post, and I look forward to hearing your responses.
Cheers,
Sonynoob
I must say - never heard for that problems.
I don't have that issues, my camera is working great, no vibrations, no lag - full HD recording or shooting picts - all works great.
Sent from my Z1
Just tested the camera in a quiet environment and I must say, it seems to produce the 'tick' sound before every shot...it only gets worse in macro situations.
Same goes for me. I think it is a normal thing while camera struggles to focus.

Had this lag too the other night trying to shoot outdoor. I don't know if it was because too much stuff running in background or if it's the camera, only happened once.

[Q] Front facing camera too grainy

Hi
Does anyone has a problem with the front camera, it is too noisy when you are looking at the view finder but then when you take the picture it comes out with no noise.
Is this normal or I have a bad unit.
I attached a screenshot of the viewfinder so you can see.
Thanks

it is normal. but i really hate all the post processing algorithms by sony. the picture in the viewfinder is sharp but after saving it looks like softened by a filter. and i have turned the soft skin filter off.
im pretty sure this is the result of removing grain. grain is away but you are lft behind with unsharp image.
Test both cameras, yours may be defective like mine.

Cover the camera completely so it is dark. Snap a photo or two. Check for grainy-ness or purple tint. Photos should be completely black.
I think its normal. Good when your looking in the view finder and then when captured, it becomes very soft. I tried other cameras but no luck. I think this is a bug of the soft skin option. Its always enabled even it is off.

camera problems greyscale while zoom

Guys, anyone having this problem too? If you zoom from above 1x to 5x (before the switch happens) all pictures from my camera become almost monochrome, I screen recorded what happens.
Check this link, I uploaded a video of what happens to my viewfinder whenever I click the shutter button in zoom option.
Check for example the difference between 1x and then above it

Hey did you find a fix for this? I just picked up a P30 pro and i discovered the exact same behavior with my camera. im seriously considering returning this device because of it!!!
Errrrm, it's a grey cat sat next to a grey cupboard?
Yes, the issue is there on my phone too.... hope they'll fix it somehow
Telephoto lens is a lot lower spec than the main 1x lens, only 8MP
Sometimes for fairly close subjects like that cat and stuff, you're better off using main camera @ 1x and cropping
Help
Hi did you manage to get this fixed? I have the same issue when I zoom the viewfinder is full colour but the picture de saturates when you press shutter
I have been to. Huawei who replaced the camera and I'm still having the issue
Please help if you have the answer
Many thanks
This seems to be a lower specced lens or sensor more than software, it makes the telephoto lens useless.
I have the same problem. To debunk some of the replies, it's not because the cat is grey. It's not because the telephoto lens is of lower quality because it's not used between 1.1-2.9X zoom where muted colors happen and what does "only 8MP" have to do with the colors.
There's definitely a software bug. Like others said, it looks good in the viewfinder but comes out almost greyscale when saving. A bug, just like the main camera being out of focus when zooming back out in video recording. Such simple bugs but still not fixed.
Noticed this too :/
I have this problem too. I had it on emui 9 and now on emui 10. I writed to the support but they think it's hardware defect..
1 year with this phone and the problem isn't resolved yet. And not only that problem, white balance is too blue, the sharpness is really hard, absurd amount of contrast. I'm very disappointed with this phone, because was publicize as "the best photography phone" and It's a lie. This phone do "good photos" if you hate photography.

P20 Pro Tele Camera Problem?

Hi, I got my p20 pro as a 2nd hand/used phone.
So if I understand correctly, the top camera/tele lens is supposed to give a better image quality than the main camera's digital zoom, right?
Mine is the opposite. The tele lens...well....sucks big time. The image quality honestly looks like the image quality of a phone from 15 years ago. The digital zoom of the main camera is way better looking. The video in the link below is the video capture of the moment when it automatically switched to the tele lens. Everything seems blurry and glowing.

Physically, I can see that the lens is a bit murky, by shining a small flashlight directly above the lens. Anyone have a tip on how to clean the lens safely? Or is the only option is to replace the whole camera unit?
I found a replacement part on aliexpress, and watched a video of the replacing process on youtube. Seems simple enough, can a layman like me pull it off (replacing the part myself)?
Thank you in advance.

Hello, thank you for the reply.
Actually that's the first time I noticed the problem, when shooting outdoor in bright daylight. I just didn't screen record it at the time.
Made another screen video, shooting in bright daylight, at 1 PM:

It is normal for camera module in smartphones to rattle a bit.
others have the same problem after the update?
Is has nothing to do with the update. It's probably just the stabilization system.
All the mechanical image stabilization systems I ever used made a tiny amount of noise.
If you can clearly hear more than 3 feet away it may have a problem... or really good hearing
The fact that you can hear it means it's working...

I had this issue while using the camera inside a building, there was shaking from the image stabilization and also the image on the screen was shaking, like blurred. I think this is somehow "normal".
