Why download that wierd zip at stage 14 and not just flash TWRP.img file to recovery partition? :S

I think it disables encryption in twrp so you don't have to do the factory reset. Anyways I did without this zip. Unlocked bootloader, fastboot flashed twrp, fastboot booted twrp. Made factory reset in twrp. Flashed twrp.img in twrp (just in case). Wiped dalvick, cache, data, internal storage and flashed my desired rom (miuipro). Of corse I used memory card to make this process easier.

Yeah it worked for me as well, dident use the zip at step 14. Just fastboot boot twrp, flash to recovery partition, factory reset wipe. (data, cache & dalvik) and then flash rom of choice.
Thanks a lot!

Bit noob here, how can I flash the zip to disable encryption when I'm not able to read my internal storage after flashing twrp through fastboot. So basically I'm not able to flash twrp. Do I need to buy a sd card for flashing twrp, no other way? :crying:

Well. Noobs should read first before post. Read at least the post bofore yours.

Noob read the first post as well the post above but pros didn't understand what noob is asking. Without sd card can we do this? as I'm not able to read internal storage after flashing twrp image, also we need to format internal storage to disable encryption and obviously that deletes the twrp.img file. So my simple question was can I flash twrp without sd card? If yes please tell me how, as I am noob. Thank you.

Put twrp on internal storage.
Flash twrp with fastboot:
Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Fastboot boot twrp.img
In twrp flash img again (just in case) to recovery partion.
Then factory reset in twrp or flash disable-encryption zip. Reboot recovery.
Put your rom from pc to twrp via mtp (you can do this along with twpr.img if U will flash disable-encryption zip). Twrp should work in mtp mode. And then flash it with necessary wipes.

Its says like cannot add more accounts to this sim card

Trying to backup stock recovery and boot, then stuck in boot logo...

I need some urgent advice. I was following this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-2/how-to/guide-unlocking-rooting-restoring-to-t3515555 to backup stock recovery and boot. I did not want to flash twrp and su, so I skipped to wipe Dalvik/Cache, did that, and reboot from twrp.
Then the phone stuck in boot logo, I've waited at least 12min, nothing. So I tried to restart from stock recovery as stated in the guide, no good.
Basically I skipped step 16-20:
Download and install Minimal ADB and Fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317790
Download latest official TWRP, place file in ADB installation folder, and rename to "twrp.img": https://twrp.me/devices/leecole2.html
Download SuperSU 2.78 (stable): https://download.chainfire.eu/1001/
Boot up phone and plug into computer
Settings > scroll to bottom to "About phone" > touch "Build" 7 times to enable developer options
Developer options > toggle "OEM unlocking" and "USB debugging" so that they're both enabled
When "Allow USB debugging?" window pops up on phone, check "Always allow..." box and hit OK
In Minimal ADB installation folder, hold Shift and right-click "Open command window here", then type:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Once in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock-go
fastboot boot twrp.img
If password screen comes up, tap "Cancel" button
If it asks, tap "Keep Read Only" button (probably doesn't matter, but whatever)
Wipe > Format Data
Make backups (I suggest boot, recovery, and system since this will allow you to return everything to stock later on)
Mount > Enable MTP
Copy entire TWRP folder from internal storage to your computer
Copy SuperSU zip from your computer to root of internal storage
Reboot > Bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem unlock-go
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Hold Vol+ and Pwr until boots into TWRP
Swipe to Allow Modifications
Install > select SuperSU zip > swipe to flash
Wipe Cache/Dalvik
Reboot (first boot will take a little while, so be patient)

Please help!
Hi, unfortunatelly I have the exactely same problem.
I boot to TRWP > wipe Format Data > did backup and restart.
Then my LeEco Le 2 X527 stuck on the booting LeEco logo. I've tried to Pwr+Vol Up and selected all the checkboxes to do stock factory reset but it didn't help.
Also, it seems I cannot use ADB, fastboot and TWRP any more, because after the Wipe the device is unauthorized
Did I brick the phone? Please help dear professionals!
Update:
I found that I can still boot to the bootloader by holding Pwr+Vol down. After that I was able to normally use "fastboot oem unlock-go" and
"fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" to flash the TWRP. After I installed the LineageOS and GAPPS and phone boot up successfully!

Introduction
Unlock & Rooting OnePlus 6T would give you additional benefits like you can install special apps, Flash Custom ROMs & Custom Mods, you can streamline your phone performance and many extra features. The real performance of an Android smartphone can only be unlocked once it is rooted.
Rooting this device is actually quite a simple and easy process. Before you begin, it is recommended that you at least try to understand what each part of the process will do. Although this guide will elongate each step in order to show all of the details, the method used can be broken up into 3 main steps:
1. Unlocking the Bootloader
2. Installing a Custom Recovery
3. Gaining Root Access
Each new step relies on the previous step so please follow the entire process and a basic summary of each part is described as below:
Unlocking BootloaderOpens the door to the internal memory of the device to be written on to. This allows you to flash images onto the main partitions of the phone.
Installing a Custom RecoveryA custom recovery is flashed onto the recovery partition of the device and overwrites the stock recovery that exists by default. Custom recoveries bring lots of functionality and give you the ability to perform wipes, install flashable zips, create full backups of your device (Nandroid backup), and various other features. An unlocked bootloader is needed to install a custom recovery.
Gaining Root AccessYou can gain root by either flashing via recovery a pre-rooted custom rom, or by Flashing Magisk Zip for a system less root.
After completing these steps your phone will be rooted, the phone will have a custom recovery installed and an unlocked bootloader. This, in my opinion, is the a practical and beneficial method for rooting your phone. It will give you some basic adb/fastboot knowledge, and should hopefully help you have a decent understanding of the entire process. This method will work regardless of any android version on the phone.
If you are confused by anything in this guide, I highly suggest getting it clarified being before moving on. Ask your question in this thread and I or someone else will likely answer. Also we would suggest that you read over the whole thread a few times before actually doing anything to the phone.
Setup, Preparation & Prerequisites
Basic tasks that may be referred to throughout this guide:Open Command Prompt: Press Shift + Right Click anywhere on the screen and select Open Command Window here
Enter Fastboot/Bootloader Mode: Turn the phone off. Hold volume up + power until the "fastboot" screen appears. [Alternatively, if Advanced Reboot is enabled, you can press Reboot > Bootloader from the power menu.]
Enter Recovery Mode: Turn the phone off. Hold volume down + power until the "OnePlus Logo" screen appears. [Alternatively, if Advanced Reboot is enabled, you can press Reboot -> Recovery from the power menu.]
ADB and Fastboot Drivers Installation1. Download & Update OnePlus 6T Drivers From Here
2. Download & Update Fastboot and ADB Binaries/Drivers from Here
3. Run the .exe file downloaded from above as Administrator.
4. Press 'Y' every time the installer asks for.
5. Continue Driver Installation.
Now, ADB and Fastboot have been installed on your PC and should be Working as desired.
Things To RememberShow File Extensions
Open a command prompt window and run "Control folders" (without the quotes). Go to the View tab and uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" option. This will help avoid confusion when renaming files.
Battery
Ensure that your phone has at least 60% battery remaining, and that your PC is plugged in and wont shut down spontaneously during the process. The procedure doesn't take very long , but its best to have enough charge in case something goes wrong.
Backup (Optional)
Unlocking the bootloader will/should completely wipe all data from the device. This includes apps, settings and even the contents of the internal sdcard (pictures, music, etc.). Copy all important files off the phone onto a PC or upload them to a cloud.
USB Debugging
On your phone go to Settings > About phone > Tap on Build number 7 times. This will enable Developer options. Now go back to Settings > Developer options > Enable USB debugging
Enable OEM Unlocking
On your phone go to Settings > Developer options. Then enable the 'OEM Unlocking' option. Also make sure that from now on, OEM unlocking option is enabled before you reboot as sometimes, it might get disabled itself.
Enable Advanced Reboot
On your phone go to Settings > Developer options > Enable the 'Advanced Reboot' option.
Unlocking Bootloader
Turn the phone off. Then boot it into fastboot mode by holding volume up + power or select reboot to bootloader if advanced reboot is activated via developer options. The phone will display "fastboot" text indicating that it has successfully entered fastboot mode.
Plug the phone into your PC, then open a command prompt window on the desktop (Shift + Right Click -> Open Command Window here) and type:
Code:
fastboot devices
This command will list the connected devices. If your phones serial number shows up you are good to go and may continue. If the phone is NOT listed this indicates that your drivers are not installed correctly. In order for you to continue you must fix your drivers so that your phone is listed under fastboot devices.
If the phone has been recognized by the command above, proceed to unlocking the bootloader with the following command:
Remember this Step will WIPE EVERYTHING off the phone so Backup all your Data
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
You would be greeted with a Unlock Bootloader Warning page, Hit the Vol button to select Yes and turn it Blue and Hit the Power Button to Execute the selection
Your device will reboot, show you a Secure boot warning, reboot into stock recovery and wipe all data. Once done, your phone will reboot into the OS.
Please continue and follow the next post to install Custom Recovery

Root
Magisk
Wait until the phone has fully booted up into android, then adjust the following settings on the phone:
USB Debugging
On your phone go to Settings > About phone > Tap on Build number 7 times. This will enable Developer options. Now go back to Settings > Developer options > Enable USB debugging
Enable OEM Unlocking
On your phone go to Settings > Developer options. Then enable the 'OEM Unlocking' option and make sure that from now on, OEM unlocking option is enabled before you reboot. Sometimes, it might get disabled itself.
The OnePlus 6T uses the newer AB partition scheme first introduced on the Pixel 1. As such there is no recovery partition. Instead, the recovery is part of the boot image. You will temporarily boot TWRP to perform and later perform a more permanent TWRP installation.
Download all the files, place Magisk & TWRP installer zip on Device Internal Memory and TWRP img on your PC
Then boot it into fastboot/bootloader mode by holding volume up + power or selecting the reboot to bootloader via advanced reboot options.
Open a new command prompt in the same location and run the following commands:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp img name
You will temporarily boot into TWRP
Now in TWRP, tap on Install and browse to the zip and install it (the zip will probably be in /sdcard/Downloads). TWRP will now be installed to both slots. TWRP is now installed.
PS: DO NOT BOOT IN OS JUST YET & CONTINUE TO THE ROOTING POST
Gaining Root Access
This is a continued post from the above post...
1. Boot into TWRP Recovery
2. If you want to stay systemless continue without swiping right else Swipe and enable modifications.
3. Select your preferred Language, Tap “Never show this screen on boot again,” and Swipe allow modification.
4. Navigate to Install and select Magisk to root.
5. Swipe to confirm the flash
6. Reboot System
Keep in mind that the first boot after wiping the phone may take longer than usual, as the phone will need to rebuild the dalvik cache and initialize other first boot and might reboot a few times.
* MTP, known as Media Transfer Protocol, is the same way you transfer files from your PC to your device when booted into system.
Congrats! Your Device now has an unlocked bootloader, a custom recovery installed and is rooted !!
Warning: Do not flash partial update OTAs (under 1 GB) on a modified device! If you want to use partial OTAs, you must first flash a full OTA that it applies to, and then flash the partial OTA from stock recovery. Flashing partial OTAs from TWRP will either fail or soft brick your device. You can return to a usable state by flashing full zips in recovery.
Enjoy :fingers-crossed:
Making a Nandroid Backup
Warning: before you make a backup with TWRP you must remove all Lockscreen Security. If you do not do this you will not be able to unlock your device after restoring your backup (entering your pin/pattern/password will result in an "incorrect pin/pattern/password" message), you'll be forced to perform a factory reset to boot into Android.
To remove lockscreen security go to
Settings > Security > Screen Lock and set it to Swipe/None.
A Nandroid Backup is a very important thing to have before installing any custom software on your device. It's basically a backup of your stock system that you can fall back on if anything goes wrong or if you just want your stock ROM back.
You can also use Nandroid Bckup to create a backup of your favorite ROM set up exactly the way you like it. The backup you create can be easily restored using the restore tool in TWRP recovery.
To Create Nandroid Backup:
1. Boot into TWRP Recovery .
2. Go to Backup Menu and select all the listed partitions.
3. Name the Backup if needed (Optional)
4. Swipe to take Backup.
This proces should take 5 to 7 minutes depending upon the size of data.
5. Reboot System when done.
Your Nandroid will be stored in the Backup Folder inside TWRP Folder /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS
Restoring a Nandroid Backup
1. Boot into TWRP Recovery
2. Go to Restore Menu and select the backup you want to restore.
3. Select the partitions you want to restore.
4. Swipe to Restore. The process will take 5 to 7 minutes.
5. Reboot system once done
Note: If you happened to forget to remove lockscreen security (PIN/Pattern/Password) before creating your backup, and you cannot get into your OS after restoring, you can do the following to fix the issue.
Boot into TWRP
Use the TWRP File Manager and Navigate to /data/sytem/ and delete the following files:
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal.
gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key
You may or may not have all the above files so delete the ones you have.
Reboot the phone and (if you've set a PIN) enter it to decrypt the storage one more time. After that you can simply unlock your phone with a swipe.
Upon Boot > Go into Settings > Security > set your preferred unlock method
Android will ask you if you want to set a boot-time code too so select as per convenience.
Making an EFS BackupAll too often, we've seen folks who have a corrupted or missing EFS Partition. This results in your IMEI being lost and no cellular activity on the device at all. This can be a royal PITA to fix, and some folks haven't been able to fix it at all. You can take a precautionary measure to safeguard yourself against this by taking a couple of minutes to back up your modemst files.
Download & Open up Terminal Emulator on your phone from here
Once it's open you'll be greeted with a command line prompt, in which you can enter text commands, the first thing you need to do is enable root access by entering this line (press the enter key on your on-screen keyboard after each command to issue it):
Code:
su
If this is the first time you've used Terminal Emulator a Superuser or SuperSU popup will appear, make sure you grant root access.
Now enter these two commands:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/sdf2 of=/sdcard/modemst1.bin bs=2048
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/sdf3 of=/sdcard/modemst2.bin bs=2048
This will place two files (modemst1.bin & modemst2.bin) on your internal storage.
Make sure you copy them to your PC and Cloud immediately so that you have a backup there to use if you need to restore it in future.
That's it !! In case you ever need to restore Nanroid or EFS Backups, please continue and follow the next post...
Restoring an EFS BackupIf by chance you end up with a corrupt EFS partition all you need to do is flash the files back to your device using fastboot.
Boot into fastboot mode (power + volume up) and connect your phone to your PC via usb cable.
Keep modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin (backed up earlier) on your desktop and open command window there.
These fastboot commands will restore the files:
Code:
fastboot flash modemst1 modemst1.bin
Code:
fastboot flash modemst2 modemst2.bin
Reboot your device.
Code:
fastboot reboot
Now disconnect phone from PC. Your IMEI should be back.
That's it for this guide, Enjoy :highfive:
Just in Case if you want to go back to stock, please follow the below to safely lock the bootloader and return to 100% Stock device:
Before you start, make sure you deactivate and uninstall all mods, magisk modules substratum overlays and any other system/build.prop mods that you may have executed/experimented with.
1. Download the latest full rom from my update thread.
2. Move the Downloaded file from the Downloads folder to the root of device internal storage.
3. Navigate to Settings > System Update > Settings > Local upgrade > Select latest OOS Full Zip
4. Flash the Full Zip
5. Upon Successful Flash > Reboot to Recovery
6. Factory Reset and Wipe internal from Recovery to Reset the device
7. Reboot To Fastboot/Bootloader Menu
8. Connect the device and execute the below command
Code:
fastboot oem lock
9. Select the Volume Button to Select Lock Bootloader and Power Button to Execute the command :good:
10. Device will Reboot and Lock the Bootloader and there would be no more secure boot prompt on the reboot to confirm :good:
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
PS: Tested on Global Version, Please check T-Mobile thread for T-Mobile version, Thanks
I assume this is only for non TMo devices for the first 40 days. Or will this unlock them also?
This is a boilerplate thread, it will not work with T-Mobile without modifying the instructions.

Unlocking the bootloader wipes everything in your phone
You can better unlock the bootloader before setting up your device
And finally , yes you can unlock the bootloader first & install twrp and root whenever you want
The guide makes very limited sense as of writing, as there is no TWRP version out yet for the OP 6T ...using TWRP for the OP 6 on the OP 6T will result in a crash.
Great tutorial funk. Easy to read and follow and good on you for going into detail on the EFS backup/restore. Hopefully is saves people from a bricked device!
I'm getting my oneplus 6t tomorrow. Will root it right away.

Ya ur right. Blu_spark wil most probably make one once the official one gets released. His recovery is working great on oneplus 6.
Will there be a guide to root without installing TWRP? I prefer that because you can do the OTA with relative ease.

[Guide][Redmi 7A] TWRP, Root with Magisk, Custom ROM [GSI][Pie]

Hello,
I finally managed to install a custom GSI Rom with TWRP and Magisk on my Redmi 7A. And I want to share a detailed guide for everyone who is struggling to do the same. Tested with MIUI 10.2.5.0 Global. Cannot guarantee for other versions.

14. Move the downloaded GSI file (*.img) to your phone. (Simply drag and drop in your PC's file manager to SD-card/memory of phone).
15. Flash the GSI Rom: In TWRP choose 'Install' > 'Install Image' and select the GSI. If you put the GSI on your external SD-card you first need to choose Select Storage > Micro SD card. After choosing the GSI file, at Select Partition to Flash Image choose System Image. Then Swipe to confirm Flash.
16. Reboot to Recovery
17. Move Magisk zip and Permissiver_v4.zip to your phone.
18. In TWRP choose Install. Select the Magisk zip-file on your phone and then Swipe to confirm flash.
19. Flash Permissiver_v4.zip the same way.
20. Flash GApps if needed
21. Flash Certification_Patch.zip.
22. Go back and choose Reboot > System
23. Fix big rounded corners on home screen:
Once you are in Android and in case you experience big ugly round corners around your home screen, put treble-overlay-xiaomi-redmi7a.apk in System > Overlay directory. You need a file manager with root access if you want to do this from within Android.
24. Fix brightness adjustment issue (no auto-brightness though):
Enable USB debugging in Developer Options menu. To make developer menu appear in Android, you need to tap 7 times on Android's 'build number'.
Now open command prompt from ADB folder on your PC while your phone is still connected via USB. Enter the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop persist.sys.qcom-brightness $(cat /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/max_brightness)
You need to allow adb shell to get root access or the command will throw an error. Your phone should show a confirmation dialog when entering the command. If it doesn't show the dialog, open Magisk Manager app and give root access for Shell in Superuser menu.
25. Enjoy!

For Magisk on stock Rom:
Your bootloader must be unlocked already!
1. Flash patched boot.img & recovery.img via fastboot
2. Reboot to TWRP
3. In TWRP, go to Wipe > Format Data > "yes"
4. In TWRP, flash Magisk zip
5. Reboot to System
Note: You will lose all your data on the phone. Do a backup of your personal stuff before proceeding.

Hello,
I finally managed to install a custom GSI Rom with TWRP and Magisk on my Redmi 7A. And I want to share a detailed guide for everyone who is struggling to do the same. Tested with MIUI 10.2.5.0 Global. Cannot guarantee for other versions.
WARNING:
You need to backup your data before installing. I am not responsible for any damage or loss that might occur. Proceed at your own risk.
Prerequisites:
- Your bootloader must be unlocked (https://en.miui.com/unlock/)
- GSI Rom of your choice. Only a64 A/B (arm32_binder64_ab). No other GSIs will do.
- ADB and Fastboot
- patched boot.img
- TWRP recovery
- vbmeta.img
- Magisk
- Permissiver_v4.zip
- Certification patch
- Treble Overlay file
- GApps (if needed)
Installation guide:
1. Download the files.

Somehow there is ver 10.2 and 10.4 missing 10.3 which is the one which I have.
What should I do?
Thanks very much for the detailed instructions!
I got it working with lineage-17-arm
Got the beta opengapps from...
https://sourceforge.net/projects/opengapps/
Before copying the treble-overlay-xiaomi-redmi7a.apk file, I had to type...
chmod a+r treble-overlay-xiaomi-redmi7a.apk
mount -o rw,remount /
I followed the steps, and i got stuck on Redmi Logo, My bootloader is unlocked.
Tried to install 2 ROMs without success.
In the second ROM (Lineage 17) when i tried to install gapps, it gave me an error saying insufficient space.
i had to get back to Miui.

Before installing gapps, after installing the rom. Go to TWRP > wipe > "system" > repair > resize fs > reboot. Then install gapps.
It didn't boot after I installed gapps on lineage 16, but it was ok on lineage 17.
Redmi 7A Miui 10.3 Patcher file missing?
Does anyone know where I could find patched file for Miui 10.3, because there is only for ver 10.2 and 10.4, and I can't update miui on my phone that's why I'm asking. Thanks.
in TWRP, after instaling the ROM and trying to install gaps, or whatever I get:
Failed to mount '/system_root' (invalid argument)
I also can't mount system partition in mounting options.
What does it means?
.
After installing TWRP successfully I tried with both roms: lineage-16.0-20191017-UNOFFICIAL-treble_a64_bvN and lineage-17.0-20191117-UNOFFICIAL-treble_a64_bvN
it fails to install any apps (Magisk, permissiver, G-Apps, etc.).
Example from Magisk:
- Mounting /system
! Cannot mount /system
- Unmounting partition
...
Failed to mount "system/root" (invalid argument)
When I now try to reboot again into Recovery TWRP says "No OS Installed".
any help is appreciated!

Hello!,
it's possible with MIUI 11 (PCMINXM) ? or i need to roll back to MIUI10?
Camera records corrupted videos
Any idea how to make camera record videos? Photos work, but when I try to record videos, it seems to be recording, but when I try to play it back it seems corrupted (e.g.: showing length of the video to be over 104h long - so seems like indexing problem). Tried to play with camera_config.xml at root/vendor/etc/camera but no luck so far... :crying:
P.S.: The problem seems to be independent of the app used - Open Camera with Camera2 API enabled does not change a thing.

Same thing with mine, first time i did solve it installing gapps again, but a few days later the problem got back. I´m about to update to last firmware and see if it solves the issue, ill comment later.

Don't do that - it's too much work.
Fixed mine by editing camera_config.xml so it has only the config for the model and vendor of the camera that it actually has been fitted with. Now using Open Camera with Camera2 API everything works fine. :victory:
P.S.: So the cause of the problem really seems to be the conflict of different camera configs within the configuration file.
brother please! can you tell me how to do it? like a mini guide, i dont have magisk nor root on my phone. do i need to root it?
would appriciate it so much!!

How To Guide Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Root Guide (No firmware download needed)

Welcome to my thread. Today I am going to teach you how to install a custom recovery on the device and how to recover the original boot files on the phone to modify them. After modifying those files you will have root on the device. A lot of time and effort has been put into getting this to work. The custom recovery that we will be using is TWRP Recovery.
Note: Modifying your device will void the manufacturer's warranty.
All modifications made to your device are done at your own risk and you claim full
responsibility if the device is damaged or if data is lost.
First, we are going to enable OEM Unlock and USB Debugging. To do so, you will follow the steps below.
1. Sign in to your Mi Cloud Account on your phone.
2. Tap the “Settings” menu on your Mi 11 Ultra, then tap the “About Phone” option.
3. Tap the “MIUI Version” option several times until you see the “You are now a developer” message.
4. Tap the “Additional Settings” Menu, then tap the “Developer options” on your phone.
5. Activate the “OEM Unlock” option, then activate the “USB Debugging” option on your phone.
6. Tap the “Mi Unlock Status” option.
7. Tap “Agree” and then tap the “Add account and device” option on your phone.
8. Turn off your phone, then press the volume down button and the power button simultaneously to put your phone into fastboot mode.
9. Connect your phone to your PC via a USB cable.
10. Download the miflash ZIP file.
11. Extract the miflash unlock tool ZIP file. You will find the Mi USB Driver.exe file and the miflashunlock.exe file after extracting it.
12. Install the Mi USB driver on your PC.
13. Run the miflashunlock.exe file on your PC.
14. Tap the Agree button and then Sign in with your Mi Account after running the miflash_unlock.exe.
15. Click the “Unlock” button, then click the “Unlock anyway” button within the miflash tool to start the process.
16. Click the “Reboot phone” button after you see the “Unlocked successfully” message.
Downloads:
Unlock tool: https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html
Additionally, we will need to have TWRP flashed to the recovery of the phone.
1. We will need to have ADB installed on the computer so download the 15 Second ADB Installer.
2. Run the ADB-Setup.exe.
3. Open a CMD terminal as an Administrator.
4. Type in the command: CD C:/ADB.
5. Type in the command: ADB Devices, make sure that there is a device showing up.
6. Download the TWRP.img to the ADB folder located on C:/ADB.
7. Make sure that you do not have a password or code lock on the device. There can not be any lock on the lock screen.
8. Type the command ADB Reboot Bootloader.
9. Type the command Fastboot Boot TWRP.img.
10. Navigate to the Advanced menu of TWRP and tap on “Install Recovery Ramdisk”.
11. Navigate back to the main menu then tap on Reboot and tap on Recovery.
Downloads:
15 Second ADB Installer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...vers-15-seconds-adb-installer-v1-4-3.2588979/
TWRP image: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ztP266XjxteVk8pxcD7-sD-IxihmODPV?usp=sharing
Now we will copy the three boot files on the phone and make backups.
1. Navigate to Mount on the root menu or TWRP.
2. Select the System Partition and Data partition then go back to the menu.
3. Navigate to Advanced then Terminal.
4. Type the command dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img.
5. Type the command dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot_a of=/sdcard/boot_a.img.
6. Type the command dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot_b of=/sdcard/boot_b.img.
7. After all the commands have been entered you can now exit back to the system by rebooting to the system in the Reboot menu.
8. Next, we will install Magisk on the phone to modify the boot files, download the Magisk.apk file on your phone.
9. Open the apk and install the Magisk.apk on the device. You will have to enable Unknown Sources if you have not already.
10. Open Magisk and select install on the Magisk tab.
11. Under Method tap the Select and Patch a File and select the boot.img file.
12. Press the LET'S GO button after you have selected the file. (Make sure to note down the name of the Output file for each file).
13. Repeat steps 11 and 12 for boot file boot_a.img and boot file boot_b.img.
Downloads:
Magisk: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
Now we will flash the boot files to the phone and we will be rooted!
1. Copy the files you just made from the storage of the phone under /Internal shared storage/Download/(Filenames) to the ADB folder located on C:/ADB
2. Restart the phone and once the phone screen turns off hold the Volume Down button to boot into fastboot.
3. Now this is where it is very crucial to ensure you know what each file corresponds to for the boot files. Type in the command Fastboot flash boot (Modified file name for boot.img).
4. Type in the command Fastboot Flash Boot_a (Modified file name for boot_a.img).
5. Type in the command Fastboot Flash Boot_b (Modified file name for boot_b.img).
6. Then type the command Fastboot reboot
7. Load Magisk and verify that it is indeed installed.
8. Boom rooted!
I don't get this I rooted much easier by simply flashing magisk.
I downloaded magisk zip
I then booted into fastboot connecting my ohone to the pc
I booted into twrp from fastboot with the command "fastboot boot twrp.img"
From twrp I simply flashed magisk.zip wiped dalvik and ART cache and rebooted the phone
Root done!
My question is now how can I update without loosing data.
I was thinking of installing the new rom via miflashtool without wiping data and then reflash magisk. It should work right?

In my testing I couldn't get my phone to root with Magisk. I haven't tested that but it sounds like it should work.
Look it is super simple, it can be done on every rom with an unlocked bootloader (this must be obvious)
Download the latest magisk.zip file on your phone
Download the compatible TWRP for your device on your computer and put it into your ADB and fastboot folder and rename it "twrp.img" (make sure you replace the file extension with the ".img")
Reboot your phone into fastboot
Connect the phone to the PC
Run the check command "fastboot devices" to check if your device is listed
Then run the command "fastboot boot twrp.img"
Your phone will now boot into twrp recovery and there is no need to flash it and overwrite the original recovery
Now give twrp the permissions to look into your folder by unlocking it at boot (password of pattern depends on what you use normally for your phone)
Now since the twrp is chinese you must change your language into english (3rd button on the right then click on the globe on the up right and select the language you want)
Now go into wipe and wipe manually cache and dalvik
Now go into your system and search for magisk.zip, flash it and wipe again dalvik and cache.
Reboot your phone
Now when you boot you must have magisk through your apps, boot magisk and complete the installation process.
Reboot again and enjoy!

Hi, xNAPx !
Thank you for this tuto, but i have a problem :/
At this step, twrp is booting straight on the menu, no password asked, and so, no access to data :/
Do you have an idea please ?

I believe this is a known issue, there is a problem on some versions of twrp with encryption, to me never happened. What kind of screen security do you have on your phone?

You could flash this boot.img, but it's safer to temporarily boot from it without overwriting your existing image in case anything went wrong along the way. The effect is that you still get root access without modifying your device, and then you can use the much safer Magisk direct install option, which has some safeguards in place.
By booting with the patched image, you now have temporary root access. To make it permanent open Magisk app.
a. Select the Install option.
b. Use Direct Install (Recommended) to root your internal boot.img
Step 2 - Reboot and your device is now rooted !Unlock the Bootloader and Root the OnePlus 10 ProStep 1 – Enable OEM unlockingYou need to enable OEM unlocking, which can be done by enabling the developer settings on your device. To do so, go to Settings > About phone and repeatedly tap Build number. Developer options will then be added to your system settings, where you can then enable OEM unlocking.
Step 2 – Unlock your phone
Set up adb, reboot into your bootloader, and run the following command. Yes, it’s really that simple!
"fastboot oem unlock"
You can reboot into the bootloader by switching on USB debugging, setting up adb and fastboot and typing “adb reboot bootloader”. Alternatively, you can hold volume down and the power button to boot up your device. USB debugging is also located under the developer options.
Unlocking the bootloader wipes your device :
Step 3 - Booting temporarily root1. Connect your phone to your pc and boot it into fastboot mode. You can leave it connected throughout this guide.
2. First, enter the following command in the PowerShell/Terminal window to ensure that your PC can communicate with the phone over the fastboot interface.
"fastboot devices"
The command should return your phone’s unique ID. In case it doesn’t, then make sure that you have the required USB drivers installed and restart your PC. You can also use TOOL ALL IN ONE, not officially updated to Oneplus 10 Pro but once install go to Others options and go to Install drivers.
3. Code once in fastboot mode:
"fastboot boot magisk_boot.img" (use the "magisk_boot.img" from the above zip file)
Change to the exact name "magisk_boot.img" of the boot that has been patched in the above zip file
"fastboot reboot"
You could flash this boot.img, but it's safer to temporarily boot from it without overwriting your existing image in case anything went wrong along the way. The effect is that you still get root access without modifying your device, and then you can use the much safer Magisk direct install option, which has some safeguards in place.
Step 4 - Install magiskInstall the latest Magisk Canary apk on your phone. Open it and:
a. Select the Install option.
b. Use Direct Install (Recommended) to root your internal boot.img

No mate, fastboot enhance only, which has been hit and miss for most.
I haven't had to use it yet but seemingly it's the only option.
Hope things change but nothing yet
has old outdated info. If you flash, then you can't take ota updates.
Sorry, where is the magisk_boot.img file? I could not find it in this post.

It would be great if somehow this (and other) corrections (such as where is the ZIP file that is referenced but not linked) were added to the instructions above. I spent an hour trying to figure out why "fastboot oem unlock" didn't work.
okay, tried updating my phone w/the steps mentioned above w/o, unfortunately disabling my Magisk modules
ended up in Qualcomm Crashdump mode...
I was able to restore back to slot a w/the following command:
fastboot --set-active=a
then used fastboot mode to boot to the following boot image (from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ne2215_11_c22-update.4524469/)
fastboot boot NE2215-C.22_boot_magisk25.2.img
this got me back up & running but I'm still stuck on C21
My question is, how do i upgrade to C22 now w/o losing data/root?
