[DISCUSSION] T-Mobile UNLOCK.BIN waiting room - OnePlus 6T Guides, News, & Discussion

So there's no confusion with newer people:
Contact TMobile through one of the many contact points they have(ie. Twitter, tmo app, Facebook..) We've seen the best results on Twitter but YMMV!
GET THEM TO PERMANENT SIM UNLOCK YOUR DEVICE. TEMP UNLOCK WILL NOT WORK!!!!!!
Once your PERMANENTLY SIM unlocked, follow the directions follow the directions here :
https://support.oneplus.com/app/ans...-bootloader-for-oneplus-6t-(t-mobile-version)
Please keep OT to a minimum as there many other threads for those OT topics and we want to make sure that everyone can make it to the promised land!! ???

Thought I would make a place for those of us Tmo users waiting on unlock.bin's from OnePlus rather than clogging the other threads. Figured if we posted when we sent off the request and when we get the .bin it could help shed some light on the actual time line for other users. Also could share status updates from the OnePlus webpage.
I'll start it off : Sent off my unlock code Monday Nov. 5 at 2:28pm CST.

Sent mine in Yesterday, Nov. 5th at 4pm EST.
I've read that others sent theirs in as early as last week and are still waiting.

So was a call into T-Mobile necessary to start this process? Or do you simply retrieve the IMEI number from the device and submit it to OnePlus' unlock portal?

You do it all through fastboot. Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot so much easier than other ways to run fastboot.

And then you still have to wait for OnePlus to send the unlock token in the mail?

You have to sim unlock your phone from Tmobile, once that is done you can then toggle OEM unlock in dev settings. Once done you use the fastboot commands to get your two lines of code. Merge these two lines together and submit them to oneplus's unlock bootloader site, provide your IMEI, email address and the fastboot command code you get. Then wait for whenever OP gets around to sending you your unlock.bin file, which you then flash to unlock your bootloader completely.

any clue on whether we will be able to flash unlocked software so were not stuck on tmobile upgrade cycle/no betas

So this way would mean that the balance has to be paid in full before the sim unlock. I spoke to a T-Mobile rep and was told that the bootloader unlock was not under their control and that OnePlus had control over that. Does OnePlus require the sim be unlocked prior to issuing a bootloader unlock?

Myself and several others were able to get our sim unlocked without paying off our phones or making extra payments, etc. My family and I will be leaving for 6 months to China and I requested Tmo to unlock my sim for China. It took 4 different Tmo reps, but one finally agreed to unlock. This was on Saturday night. I sent my information request for the unlock.bin file from OP bootloader site about sunday morning.
Edit, you must be sim unlocked from Tmo. This will then allow you to enable OEM unlock im developer settings. From there you do fastboot commands to get your code that ou then submit with your IMEI and email address to OnePlus to send you the unlock.bin file.

Sprint Moto X Bootloader

I'm trying to unlock my boot loader on my sprint moto x but it keeps telling me it can't be unlocked. Now I contacted Motorola and they said it can't be bootloader unlocked because my phone is not activated... I'm using the replacement phone they sent me. I sim-Unlocked it and am now using straight talk att Sim. But I want to root my phone.

Did you unlock your previous phone? AFAIK, the phone doesn't need to be activated in order to unlock it - I wouldn't trust the Moto support people - they know less than most of us do.
You must follow the procedure exactly to get your unlock code. Confirm that you have taken the unlock data, pasted it into notepad, removed ALL spaces and [bootloader] messages, and made it into one single, contiguous string of characters. Then copy and paste this string into the Moto Unlock website.
Sometimes the website can be glitchy - others have reported success using a different browser, or trying again at a later time. If you are doing it correctly, it should work.

I did successfully unlock the bootloader on the previous moto x I had before they sent me a new one. That one was activated on sprint. And I took the same steps I did when I did my first moto x and I keep getting the error. I never activated it back on sprint because I'm not using it for sprint. And the only reason it was activated before on sprint was I brought it off craigslist. It was pointless for me to activate it on sprint if I'm not gone use it on sprint.
Another thing, how do I get rid of the activation screen that comes up when I turn the phone on.

All I can suggest is try again. Other users have unlocked phones that were never activated...heck - GSM phones don't even 'get activated'.
Hopefully your phone wasn't stolen or something...that would prevent you from getting an unlock code. But if that were the case, your IMEI should be blacklisted and you shouldn't be able to use it at all...
As far as the activation prompt, you MUST be unlocked in order to get rid of it. Then, use this custom SBF provided by ezeuba that bypasses activation. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/rooted-sprint-moto-x-sbf-t2834891
If nothing else you can wait and hope that Dan releases a tool to exploit his BL-unlock vulnerability he has discovered. There is no time-frame as to when it might be released, though. At least you can use the phone now, even the way it is...

Has Motorola stopped unlocking the Sprint MOTO X bootloader? I've been trying to unlock 2 XT1056 phones and it says "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking". What gives? I'm getting confused here because I've unlocked one from the site before and it went OK. Please any help, anyone?

The site can be glitchy. Keep trying (maybe tomorrow) or try a different browser. Confirm that you have entered the unlock data exactly as instructed. They have not stopped offering unlock codes for the XT1056 - they just have a less-than-perfect unlock website.

Error when i try to unlock my Moto x

Hi. I have the Moto X xt1058 (AT&T) and I bought the code on 2 different pages. In one them they gave me 2 codes to try and when I tried to put the codes the phone showed an error to unlock the network and then in the other page they gave me the same 2 codes. I've reseted the phone and it keeps showing me the same error when I try to unlock it.
I have android system 4.4.4 stock.

I thought AT&T unlocked phones if you requested it due to that law that was put into effect for global capable phones?
I don't know how to do that process and I have another moto X from AT&T which I unlocked by buying the unlock code on a page.
very often its not working because custom ROM or custom baseband flashed, so please make sure that your phone is completely stock
its completely i updated by OTA to 4.4.4
First, you can try -> https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/?#/ it appears by the conditions that even NON-ATT customers can request the SIM/Carrier unlock code now.
Also, there was discussion about some SIM or Carrier Unlock codes not working on devices with a particular series of IMEI numbers... I don't know the specifics because I don't have an ATT X. See -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/sim-unlock-moto-x-gens-t3011662 and start around Post #21 for more details, and more importantly post #31 of that thread for a possible resolution.
And be careful, I'm not sure how many attempts you get to enter the SIM/Carrier unlock code.
i try here https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/?#/ but dont work cuz said me: "Error: We found no record of the IMEI Number you entered. Check your device's 15-digit IMEI Number by dialing *#06# (errorCode.ULP2003)"
i bought another unlock code on ebay... i will try again

That's SIM unlock, not bootloader.
There's no official support from anyone on either side, AT&T or Motorola, for unlocking the bootloader on the XT1058. In fact if you call them and ask, they'll just tell you "no".
Furthermore, even senior developers for the platform like jcase have said that unlocking the bootloader on the XT1058 running KitKat 4.4.4 is more-or-less impossible (at the moment).

Was your subject line ATTN: Donald Hicks - Global Leader Service Operations as stated in that post?
Did HE reply? or someone from Moto support? Did they explain why they can't help?
This:
Hello Starling,
Thank you for contacting Motorola. Unfortunately, as SIM issues are largely carrier-related, the spectrum of assistance we have to offer on the manufacturer's side of things is rather limited. When trying to use the subsidy unlock code to unlock your device, are you trying this with the new SIM card or the old one in your device? You should input the subsidy unlock code with the new SIM card if you have not already done so and try it again. If you have reset the device and you're still experiencing the issue, you will likely need to contact AT&T about this issue and they can look into things more fully on their end. The IMEI of your device shows as valid in our system, so if AT&T is having an issue with it, that would be on their end and you would also need to contact them about that. If you would be more comfortable with it, either a member of our tech support team or myself could reach out to you and make a conference call with AT&T to get this resolved for you as well.
Please let me know how you would like to proceed and I will assist you to the best of my ability.
Thank you for choosing Motorola and have a great day!
Cas

In that case, yeah! You should be able to grab it from AT&T's website or by calling in and asking about it.

Unlocking T-Mobile variant

As we all know, in order to unlock your bootloader , the device needs to be sim unlocked from tmobile. In order for that, the device needs to be fully paid off and active for 40 days.....or does it ? Maybe im crazy or have missed something in the past few weeks but i just opened the unlock app and requested a permanent unlock and viola ! Unlock approved. Again i may be late here but if you are reading this and have not paid off your device yet, try your luck and let me know how it goes. :victory:

Is it required to unlock the bootloader if you don't want to root?
I'm not interested in rooting or custom roms at the moment for this phone. I want to unlock it so I can use other sims besides Tmobile while I travel. I also want to change it to the stock OxygenOS so that the second sim slot becomes available. Can I just unlock the sim and then flash it to the international OOS without unlocking the bootloader? I've read that it takes your phone's DRM from L1 to L3 and not everyone has been able to restore it back to L1 after re-locking the bootloader. Or is there a way to guarantee you can get it back to L1?

Question T-Mobile 10 Pro BL unlocking

I just got the OP 10 Pro for my girl and I and I'm having some difficulty attempting to unlock the bootloader. Looks like it'll require an unlock token (bin) from OP like the previous models however on my OP 9 I didn't request an unlock token, I think maybe I flashed the global fw with MSM? I know this is a fairly new device and development is limited, but is there anything available at this time to magisk root my device? I still have my old rooted device for 2 weeks grace period before I have to return it for the trade-in.

With the T-Mobile variant you need the unlock.bin to unlock bootloader. OnePlus will eventually update their website, hopefully soon (I've already emailed their support to add it, doubt that will help though). The only other way would be using exploits which haven't been released yet. The good news is once OnePlus updates their site, you can easily request you're unlock.bin and once you get it via email it's super easy to unlock the bootloader.
Sounds like it's like their previous phones subsidized through TMO. Need to pop in a fastboot command on your phone, which will give you a string of code. Copy paste that code on Oneplus' web site once it's updated. From there, you'll need to wait 7 days almost to the minute before the page will display your unlock token, which will be in a .bin format. Fastboot flash that. Of course that'll wipe your phone completely, but your bootloader will be unlocked.

Yes, exactly same as previous T-Mobile OnePlus phones, except there's no need to be sim unlocked to enable oem unlocking on the 10 pro (pretty sure that was by mistake on OnePlus fault).

Wow. Really? So we don't have to make up an extravagant overseas-travel story to get T-mo to unlock? Niiiice.
Have said before, just avoid the US T-Mobile variant, unlocking is just the first of many issues if you're going down the unlocking/rooting path.
If it's your only way of getting the 10 pro then fair enough, but if it's not then choose the other path...whatever it is it has to be better.

Fair enough.
I personally live in the UK, so don't have any of these problems, but I've seen issues with people who've flashed a custom ROM and ended up without signal, data, texts, even WiFi, Devs tend not to get involved when asked what the problem may be. They end up frustrated and alone.
Couple that with waiting for 10 days to unlock it, I would stick with "if you have an alternative then go with that".
Whatever way you slice it it's a sub par experience compared to other options.
But hey if you're cool with it then that's your journey
Got my 10 pro unlocked on day one. One plus's site still doesn't support the 10 pro. So no unlock tokens for us yet.

Same, unlocked mine immediately.
The more people buy the T-Mobile version the more they'll keep doing it.
It's a shame that companies still do crap like this.

Wait, you got your T-mo unlocked immediately? How'd that work?

I got mine unlocked immediately too, twice. First device had to be exchanged due to being defective. I explained I needed the unlock for development reasons which requires the bootloader to be unlocked and I've been with them for 3 years so they didn't hesitate to issue the unlock.

I don't have a T-Mobile..I'm in the UK...I've bought a locked down device before. Never again, not when there's an alternative
For what it's worth, I just chatted with OnePlus and was told it would take 30-45 days for the unlock token page to be updated with the 10 Pro.
I strongly suspect this was little more than a guess, but I figured I'd relay it just in case.

I was told 7 days 12 days ago.
LoL, it depends on what T-Mobile tech admin you talk too....
T-mobile just msgd me on Twitter and said they 'unlocked' my phone. Do I still need the payload.bin file to unlock bootloader?

Yes that's only a network unlock which is a requirement to be eligible for OnePlus bootloader unlock

Question I got my phone sim unlocked from T-Mobile but can't for the life of me find anyone in support who knows anything about the 64 digit code that's needed

According to OnePlus I was supposed to get an email with this code when my phone was sim unlocked. They claim they have no idea what I'm talking about and they would never help somebody void their warranty and are forbidden to do so. How the hell do you get this code when they don't even know what it is? I can't get my unlock token without it and they've already tried blaming OnePlus which is not who is responsible for this code. I can't even find someone who knows what unlocking a bootloader means and they keep mixing it up with sim unlock and keep accusing me of trying to switch to another network despite me being with them for 11 years
let us know if you or anykne founded
Try saying root unlock instead. Btw you should be able to do this process online automatically. I could be wrong, but that's how it's always been done with every other device with tokens.

When I go to OnePlus's unlock page it asks for the serial, the IMEI, and the 64 digit code emailed to you by T-Mobile. I have found a possible solution with adb but I don't know if it still works, something like "adb get_oem_unlock_code" or fastboot but I don't have the exact command on me at the moment. They have their own process worked out with T-Mobile but nobody at T-Mobile was taught anything about this
