What model do you have? I wonder if it's restricted based on model/region.

If you have another launcher installed & have it set as default, perhaps you can't access the stock home screen settings.
If that's not the case, maybe try using Nova Launcher & use the shortcut/activities option & see if you can access the settings for that.

This is correct, I have Nova launcher and it didn't show until I reverted back to the stock launcher.

First we do not have 4.2, it is 4.1.2. Second what vibration? On keypress?
Settings>Sounds>System> there uncheck Haptic feedback.

I do not use stock launcher anymore. Look in settings of it. And you do not move icons all day long, it is not a big deal...
P.S. I just got back to stock TW launcher, I think that what you want can't be done. Or if somebody else know that...

Give Nova Launcher a try. You can get rid of the Google bar and almost every other thing you want to tweek.
thank you guys. Used Apex Launcher and now i've found my peace
I have always used GO Launcher of Nova, Apex and many others. I dig the Stock Launcher. I agree though, why have the bar there when all you have to do is say, ok Google, and it does waht you need. bar there or not. Hell I would be ok if it were just on one screen but, its on all of them
I'm using nova because I have the ability to use double tap to sleep, so never have to use power button unless I have or want to reboot

Go to nova setting and long press volume down button now it will enable labs menu from there you can enable weather
Now go to desktop -> search bar now you can see weather
To disable labs menu long press volume up button
Big fan of Nova Launcher Prime. Most icons on bottom are also folders, with 'swipe up' used to launch desire app.

icons with frame

Hello,
Just upgraded to the note 8 and I can't seem to have the icons without the frame.
On my old s7 edge I had the option to have my icons with or without the frames.... Now on my note 8 the option is greyed out
Please help.

That's not true....on my girlfriends s9+ she has the option and it works... She can apply the frames or remove them.... And she has the same os as mine.
Switch to the stock launcher first and it will no longer be greyed out.

After a reboot it becomes available. At least for me it does.

Ok thanks. I just tried again with a reboot but still no change. Must be something else involved.
Might be a shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if it's somehow CSC-related too. I don't really see why it would be, but I've noticed other menu options can be different, greyed out, or altogether missing depending on which CSC I use (e.g. emergency alert settings and defaults vary by CSC, gif keyboard is missing on some CSCs like XSG, etc.).

If ever you are on Nova, you can also force the legacy icons in the Nova Labs settings. This will get rid of all the frames.
Are you guys using themes?
Try using stock (default) theme.
I noticed on mine is greyed out too with custom theme applied but with stock theme I can change it.
Yeah but the fact that frames still show up on icons even though I choose to have the icons without the frames....
Do I need to install another maybe an older version of Samsung experience launcher?

Yes, but I just tried switching back to stock theme and nothing changed. Even after a reboot the option is still greyed out.

That's weird.
You'll can try clearing the Samsung experience home data and cache but this will reset all your home screens back to the way you bought the phone.
Or go to recovery and clearing cache
Worst case scenario do a factory reset.
Try applying default theme
Optional clear data and cache of Samsung experience home (this will reset launcher back to stock)(try without this step first and see)
Go to device maintenance and clearing the storage
Restart phone and see.
This way it will remove any left over themes

Two questions for everyone...

Although I don't see it, is there a way to remove the date and Google search box on the bottom of my pixel 4 xl homescreen? I have Nova launcher to deal with the issue but for some reason it's not staying as my primary home replacement. I set it to "always" and every reboot it defaults back to the pixel launcher. Other than those two gripes I love this phone compared to my note 8 I had for two years lol. Thank you all in advance for your help with my questions and have a great day/night.

Go to settings/apps/default. Set Nova as your default there.

That doesn't fix the issue. After a reboot you need to go into Nova settings and select Nova as the default launcher for it to stick.
I did have it set for my default launcher but as the first person said I needed make it modify system settings for it to automatically boot with the phone. A few seconds after boot it clicks over to Nova. Ty for your help. I just thought I'd already done that when I installed the launcher, guess not lol. They should have a pop up when installing to tell you to do that in the first place. Just so goobers like me don't come on here and waste people's time asking the question lol.
Ugh nevermind....it went back to pixel launcher. I guess I won't be able to use Nova anymore

Yeah I set it as default in the apps section too and also in Nova. When I swipe up to get out of xda it defaults back to pixel launcher again.

It's because of gesture navigation. Compatibility will come eventually.

Strange, once I set it in Nova it sticks until I reboot.
Edit: I do have 3 button navigation enabled but I'm using a Magisk module to disable them and I'm using Vivid N.G.
I have Nova set with Google Gestures enabled. Nova sticks. Gestures work. Stock. No root.
Just to put the thread to rest, I enabled three button navigation and it works perfectly. I like gestures more so im gonna keep it installed but using pixel launcher and just hope they can get support for it soon

They specifically say it's not compatible in the Now Settings.
https://help.teslacoilapps.com/faq/gesture-navigation
Update:
Actually I tried it myself and Nova does stick even after restart. Not sure what the OP is doing differently.

Ya I don't know. All I know is that it does and can work even with gestures. I had that disclaimer saying it's not compatible. I'm using gestures and they work like stock Pixel launcher.
Now I am using Nova Beta version. Not sure if that makes a difference?

I have Nova also and it never goes back to Pixel Launcher. I have gestures enabled, so those work, plus set tap and 2 finger tap to turn the screen on and off and 2 finger swipe down to open App Drawer. No issues

Yeah the disclaimer went went after setting as default. I haven't used Nova in a long time but my paid Nova Prime still works and it stick with the non-Beta.
Unless there's a setting for it, It's not quite the same as the Pixel Launcher though as there's no suggested app or app drawer while in the recent app view.
