T-Mobile update as of 11DEC18 0620 CST - OnePlus 6T Guides, News, & Discussion

Still says "November 1, 2018" Android security patch level. I don't have access to my phone atm. I was walking and updating at the same time so didn't catch all the release notes. Sorry this post isn't that detailed. Mostly just a heads up.

It added hold down power button to launch Assistant, can't find any other changes. Ironically it doesn't include the December security patch.

Fingerprint reader seems faster, too. It's now OOS 9.0.1. Not sure what else has changed.
I woke up, unlocked the phone and thought I was getting a random reboot (ugh) but then saw the system update notification. I have auto system updates set to off in dev options, so this is a little disturbing as I like to do it when it's convenient and read the changes. C'est la vie, as long as there are improvements.
Update - found the changes in the OnePlus forum:

On bootloader unlocked devices you can't update with a partial update you have to grab the full ROM zip, if TMobile plans to provide it....

for some reason now I cant update, the first update I manage to unroot and update the phone with the first update, now I went to the magisk and restore the backup image then I uninstalled the magisk but it wont let me install the update!! anyone have a way to update?

I got the update. was browsing the web and all of a sudden the phone restarted. no warning or anything. The thought the phone crashed

Same here! I was worried for a few moments as I thought it was hard locked at the TMobile screen since it took extra time. Absolutely no warning just a sudden restart. WTF

I had just downloaded the newest Messages APK from APKmirror and i thought something in that download messed with my phone. It wasn't until it rebooted and showed the "congratulations your phone was updated" and then checked here that I wasn't crazy.

Does this allow you to use the airpods as a headset for phone calls as well?

Got mine, and updated.

Given the speed the updates are coming, i might go back to T-Mobile firmware. Not worth the root trouble

Quicker than with other phones for sure, but still 9.0.1 vs 9.0.7
Im on Tmobile version at the moment, and will switch as soon as there is a way to do a complete conversion.

Nexus 6 stuck in 7.0 but getting montly patches

My N6 is still waiting 7.1.1 OTA, surprisingly, security patches come on schedule, but almost three months after release, OTA is not coming. Yes, I know I can sideload it, but one of the reasons I decided not to root it was not losing the ability of OTA updates.... any hint?
Thanks.

You can flash the stock rom and you will receive OTA . Unlocking bootloader dosen't mean root.
You WILL receive OTA updates just do as follows
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash latest fastboot images
3. Lock bootloader - optional.
Make sure you don't keep TWRP recovery. It isn't that good for installing OTA packages via system update.
Please follow the guides if you don't know how to do them. Download the latest one named 7.1.1
Press thanks if i helped

@Pocket_rocket Just a warning though... Unlocking your bootloader will wipe your device.
Use the full OTA image instead. I believe there's no need for an unlocked bootloader then.
https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Edit: a word of caution... If you decide to sideload the OTA, it's not a bad idea to keep your bootloader unlocked. If anything goes wrong along the way, you can then fix it.
And about the update issue. Are you on AT&T? They haven't approved 7.1.1 yet...
Edit 2 (I just woke up, gimme a break ): If you use Android Pay or anything else dependent on SafetyNet, you can't keep your bootloader unlocked (without further tinkering) since that triggers SN.

Hi Didgeridoohan, Mine is now NBD92D (AT&T version and update thru OTA) but I don't see any AT&T logo on the back and my city(HK) does not have any AT&T service. Do you have any idea on this(Actually my Nexus 6 is from Australia).
In addition, if I keep sideload the OTA image N6F26U will cause any problem(except the Android Pay)? As you mention that Google does not approve any 7.1.1 AT&T version(Just tried to sideload N6F26U, it said can't install over a newer version).
Thanks so much in advance.

No. I'm on Vodafone (Spain) but I purchased this phone right on Amazon, so no pesky carrier should be acting as a man in the middle, I guess...
I mean, the phone runs decently well, but, given the fact that 7.1.1 will be the last update for this model, I want it. I wonder if is just a matter of patience or there is some other issue that is preventing my phone to get the OTA.
Thanks.
I have the same issue, m on NBD92D, which seems to ATT only, but there's no AT&T in India. I tried sideloading N6F26U, but it didn't work. Any idea how I can get 7.1, apart from waiting?

Curious if it's the big camera update? I'm not sure, but I think Sprint already got it...
I have the unlocked version....these updates were there the first time I turned my phone on a few weeks ago.
Why wouldn't you want OTA updates if you plan on eventually rooting? I've never rooted before, but I really want to root this phone. Always told myself I'd do it on the next phone I buy.
What issues would arise from updating before you root? Wouldn't you have to wipe anyway? Or do you want to avoid any possible bugs with new updates? Just a little confused.
Thanks!

Because many times root may only work for certain software versions. If someone achieves root for a specific version, and you have updated your device, you may not be able to obtain root.
Got one for tmobile/h932 as well though it's just a security patch. Bummer . Would like a stable 8.1 over root.

Still no November Update?

Still have not received the OTA Nov update, went to Dev Images site and I do not see build# ending in A4, see screenshot. Can I manually flash another version, A1/B1...etc?

Yes, I know it should be according to all the reports from last week. Today I looked at the Verizon update site and it was finally posted that it's available as of today and to sync your device or wait for it. Would have been nice to just post the OTA file or system image but I guess they can't do that. So hopefully Google will post it sometime today. That's basically what I was saying. I'm curious if you get the update since you just switched to Verizon after the Nov update.

No, I still have the same November update I had. Over on Reddit some folks are already getting it. I compared my build number to theirs and we have different build numbers. Since I'm getting 5g I'm not sure what I'll miss if anything if I have to wait until December for a Verizon build. I won't know if it would activate 5g uw but I wouldn't know anyway since I don't have a 5g chip.

[Fixed] [Android 12 beta] My P5 fails downgrading to Android 11

Hi everybody !
I've been testing Android 12 almost since it's release but now I'd like to sell my Pixel 5 so I have to downgrade it from Android 12 to Android 11.
I already rolled out from the beta program from the Google website. But when I'm searching for an update in the settings, it keeps saying "Preparing the system update". Now it's been 2 hours and still nothing happens.
I tried a factory reset but the problem is still here.
Do you guys have any idea of what I can do ?
Thanks !

But I mean, if you're going to be flashing the image it's only 1 command line, well 2. 1 to unlock bootloader and 1 to lock.
You can ddoooo eeeiittttt!

Honestly, though, best of luck to you. Keep us updated on if you decide to kill laziness or to continue to wait, and the results on either.

Yeah, I agree it's not that difficult but it is time consuming. First you will need to unlock the bootloader and that will do a factory reset. Then the login procedure and flashing the latest factory image for 11 with a full wipe. Then relocking to bootloader with another factory reset and logging in again. Then deleting all your accounts so FRP isn't triggered when you sell it. Or wait until 12 is released, get the OTA and then sell it. I would make sure the OEM switch is set to unlocking until the very end. You never know.

Yes. Announcement, pre order, in the stores. Android 12 will be live weeks ahead of delivery of the P6
I'll think about it then. But my problem may not be fixed with the official release if it's still looking for the update

You'll get an ota with the official release, then you're off the beta and it won't look for anything other than the monthly updates.
Relocking the bootloader should not be necessary. Try using the Android Flash Tool to flash the latest factory image. Try force flashing all partitions (I believe this requires a wipe) and if that doesn't work disable verity and verification. I did try to downgrade from the 12 Beta 5 before I got root working, but I was doing it manually via command line, and the phone wouldn't reboot into fastbootd.
Okay the problem is fixed ! I turned on the phone yesterday before going to bed and this morning it finally found the "update". I could downgrade it to Android 11 through the official way !
So if the problem appears to one of you : be very patient
Thank you for your help guys !

General Turn off Easy Unlock in AOSP Mods (v2.3.0) before updating to November Update

Easy unlock in AOSP mods version 2.3.0 is not compatible with the November software update, 13.0.0 (TD1A.221105.001, Nov 2022). If it's enabled after you update, whenever you try to input pin and let the feature work, phone will not unlock and go back to lockscreen. Can possibly try to hit enter before the mod activates when you enter pin. Otherwise will have to disable/remove mod.

Just follow the guide. You download the factory image. Then the guide will help you patch the necessary files needed to flash and update. You won't lose your data as long as you select the "keep data" option.

Yup. Ask if you are confused about anything. Also if you have AOSP mods, remember to turn off easy unlock before you use pixelflasher. That specific option is not compatible with this update using AOSP mods 2.3.0.

I wouldn't be able to tell you best way to back up phone. I just do a normal backup using settings and google drive.
Thank you for your help and time.
So I updated the whole thing, and then I found out that I updated the same firmware :- D
I have the sw version installed (TD1A.220804.031, Oct 2022)
in the settings it offers me the November update (OTA).
at https://developers.google.com/android/images it is still Oct 2022
Am I doing / watching something wrong? Or is there simply an OTA update, but it is still not possible to download it from the website? Well thank you!

You have a pixel 7 right? If you followed the steps correctly, most likely you downloaded the wrong file then.
The factory images are organised from oldest to newest, newest being at the bottom. So you need to make sure you downloaded the "TD1A.221105.001, Nov 2022" version depending if you have the verizon version or not.

Easy unlock makes it so whenever you enter the pin for your passcode, you don't have to hit enter. Once you enter the correct numbers, it automatically unlocks.
