light bleeding through - LG V40 Questions & Answers

Has anyone else had the problem of the light bleeding through on certain colors? On the left side of mine, there's a white-ish hue coming through. I chatted with LG to see if it's a known issue. They told me to reset the device. Or send it in for repair.
See pic..may be hard to tell.

Does it affect viewing content? If not it's technically not worth it, unless ur super picky

Sometimes it does. When anything dark except black is on the screen..it's shows. Kind of annoying too.

Hmm ii see, have you try Factory resetting it first

Same!
Did you ever find a resolution? I'm on my second v40 with the same issue. After a while, the screen kept flashing when I would put it to sleep. I had to swap the phone out.

No. I just let it go. Figure I'll let it go to it burns out. It seems to be getting worse tho. Thought about sending it in

The first one I got the week the phone came out. This one I got in December. Both from T-Mobile.
The left side of my screen by the volume buttons is green and it's driving me nuts.

I haven’t used a v40 yet, but I did see multiple v30 devices with this issue. For the v30 at least you could look closely at it and the light is bleeding through the gap between the “screen” and the side frame of the phone. I say “screen” because the issue is the bezel doesn’t properly cover the gap between the screen and the body which causes the light bleeding.
You obviously can’t fix this without getting a new phone. However, I would take a guess and say eventually more and more phones will get this issue over time. Because as the phones age glue or whatever else holds the screen to the body will wear and possibly develop this gap. Another problem is bending. Even the slightest little bend will cause a problem, even without other physical damage.

Having same issue on my att v40, once you see it it's hard to not notice it, thinking about sending it to LG for replacement.

Now that it's been mentioned I looked but luckily nothing showing up on mine

Here is my screen. What do you guys think? Hard to see those in everyday use, but def can see them here and there. To test it I suggest you put uniform grey/dark grey color image on your screen and then you'll see it. In my case basically whole right side is and issue plus top part around the notch. Thinking about sending it to LG for replacement.

Can you guys sound off on this with some pics if possible, to see how bad my case actually is?
Appreciate y'all!

Yeah, take another picture in a dark environment. I'll take some photos of mine later. I have few issues on mine also. But only visible on very low brightness and brown/grey colors. Also one very tiny almost invisible to see stuck/dead pixel.

That's not dark at all, im talking in a dark pitch black room.
Take a picture with full brightness On and low brightness On, with the light in the room off preferable at night time.

In pitch dark it's only more visible. Pics I took show the issue pretty clear anyway.

You basically lost the lottery panel. I would exchange if i were you and it bothers you. Mine is pretty even all around except for when on low or mid brightness and on grey/brown colors.
I'll show you what mine looks like later tonight.

I don't get your argument man. If yours is pretty even you don't have an issue. I clearly do.

Re read what I said. To some degree it is not completely even. There is no such thing as perfect OLED panel, no panel is the same. Mine has it's issues, alot of it can be subjective. Your's is on the pretty bad scale in my humble opinion and it would be worth the hassle of going thru warranty repair involving sending it in, praying, and waiting a couple weeks without a device. I feel like I am repeating myself at this point, if you still want me to upload the photos it's fine. Sorry if i have a harsh tone, I have the flu.

[Q] HTC ONE Light Bleed

I bought htc one of phones4u and i notice when watching videos or something with a dark background, light bleeds from the home button on to the screen. The light bleed comes from the bottom right hand corner of screen, looks like there is missing a bit of seal from the screen so the light comes through, so i arranged for an exchange as i wanted it perfect and it was annoying, anyway just received my second handset and guess what still the same problem, It is not the same phone if any of you guys thinking this!! As the problem with this new phone is the light is bit more on the side and worse. So two phones both with the same problem.
Have any of you guys had this problem?? as i have scanned the internet and i cannot see anything about this issue. Surely i can't be the only one!!
I will be sending this back for a third time if it happens again will probably be getting the s4.
I have not had this problem nor heard anyone else with it. Can you get a picture?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Never seen this problem either.

I just tried this. I found I could see a tiny bit of leakage from the back button. But only if I went into the room with no windows, all lights off, and gave my eyes about 20 seconds to adjust....then I could "just" see it. I would never ever have noticed this in normal usage and I imagine some will not be able to see it on my phone at all.
The time i finish work it is pretty dark, so this is why i notice it. Mine is def worse than yours you can clearly see it best way to do it is to be in a dark room and put brightness right down on htc one, i will try and take a photo later for you guys to see.

I have light leaking where the screen meets the body. Is this common?
My first one had this issue, just like in photo above.
The replacement is perfect light bleeding wise..

I also have this issue like the photo above in the exact same spot. Mine is only a pin hole tho.
Was really surprised to see this topic. My HTC One has easily been the most flawless screen I've ever owned. I've had some light bleeding, even if barely noticeable to anyone who doesn't have severe OCD, on almost every LED-backlist display I've used...until this phone. Even my new Nexus 10, which I settled on after many exchanges, has minor light bleeding.
Just checked my phone, don't have this issue. If possible, I'd contact the seller you purchased it from or get in contact from HTC to check out the warranty.
I came across the same issue. Anybody knows what's the cause of the issue? and how to repair it!
i'd appreciate it!

Purple/Red/Blue photos in low light?

There is a massive thread about this in the general HTC ONE forums, but not the Sprint forum. This needs to be brought to the forefront so HTC will figure out what to do faster with more pressure applied. This is a pretty major issue as any device affected takes pretty much worthless low-light pictures, and that is a pretty major selling point for this phone.
They claim it can be fixed with software, but if it's software, why isn't everyone's phone affected by it?

Yup it pissed me off so many tainted colored photos here as well. I just have to tweak the settings but in zoe I'm stuck with what it captures.

This is what I'm afraid of. People aren't even aware the issue exists. In some cases it's getting worse over time. My ONE would start to turn purple or red after about 30 seconds in low lit areas, but now it happens almost instantly. Any picture I take at night now is straight up purple with a faint picture in there somewhere. I would recommend calling HTC directly and raising even more awareness about it.
I've never seen this problem, but then again, I haven't tried taking pictures in pitch black darkness.

While that is a funny joke, I can assure you it's not just when taking pictures in pitch black darkness. And from my experience, it gets worse as time goes. When it first started happening to me, it was just purple or red around the edges. Now it's turning the entire picture purple.

But is this a software issue, or hardware issue? I could stand outside in the dark of night and take a picture of a lit area in the distance and not see this problem.

That's the thing, HTC hasn't said for sure whether it's hardware or software. I spoke with HTC yesterday and was told it was a software issue. Then 10 minutes later he called me back and said "it may be software, but it also may be hardware" and that if I wanted I could send my phone in for repair. I doubt they want the whole world knowing there's a lot of phones with a bad camera, I'm eager to see how this all plays out.

New phone, yellow tint

Hi,
Just received a new One, after 9 month, because the front camera died. It is refurbished but in very good condition, no scratch whatsoever.
Unfortunately it has a strong yellow tint.
Serial begins with FA35.
Do you guys know something about this problem? Is it common? Could there be some stuff on the screen from the refurbish process causing this?

From what I've read it happened to quite a few.
It's really really on the warm side lets say, but it looks yellowish to me. Definitely less easy to read.
Checked the screen manufacturer, I've got the one made by sony-toshiba (not the samsung or the sharp).
Well I'm disappointed but if there is no "fix" or efficient tinkering, I'll let it go, I'm tired of battling between broken devices and warranties these last times. Yellowish screen it'll be.
thanks for answering

Well, this is a 100% hardware issue. So, your only option would be to send for repair. But if you dont want to deal with warranties, etc, then i think you will have to live with the defective screen

[Q] Light Leakage Around Bezel?

So last night I noticed that there appears to be a thin line of light coming up from above both the right and left bezel. Can anyone else reproduce this? It's most noticeable in a dark environment with the screen brightness relatively high.
Red line indicates where the light leakage comes from.
here are some actual pics. I just want to know if this is normal or not. Thanks
Nope, your phone should not do that. It appears your screen inst adhering as it should. If I were you I would take it back and get a new one if you're in your 2 week grace period.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I'm not. But I've reached out to Samsung and they acknowledged the defect. Hopefully they'll send me a like-new replacement.

mine has the same problem here!! should i replace it??thanks
So in the end I did end up getting a replacement because of this. Turns out I'd totally regret it because this is actually normal behavior.
The replacements I got had far worse issues such as yellowing screen, overheating, and rotation issues. And on top of that all of them still had the light bezel bleed. Ugh.

'Glittery' screen

Hello, everyone,
I've had my Moto G6 for about 2 days and everything is fine, but I've noticed a strange issue with the LCD panel.
There appear to be small, green/red pixels all over the screen as if someone poured glitter all over it. These pixels are noticeable on darker colors and even more so on black. Some of them are twinkling as well. There are thousandd of them and they seem to be increasing (but that could just be my imagination). Now that I've seen them, I can't unsee them.
Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? Any solutions? I'd hate to have to return this already.
EDIT: I went back to Best Buy today and exchanged for another one, and the new phone's screen doesn't have any bothersome imperfections.
I havent' seen this problem. Do you have another camera that could capture what you're seeing?

I'd try and take a better picture, but since they're so dim, I had to be really close. You can still kind of see them around the middle. It's a lot easier to see in real life.

Hmm... Yeah I don't think that's normal. I'd contact Motorola and look into getting a replacement.

I already went back to Best Buy to exchange my old G6 for this one and it doesn't have that issue, so it's all good.
